So after having our first tour of Asia, let's delve in into some basic concepts that you should know

about Asia and the first one is Regions.

Now, I know we've already talked a lot about regions, and I'm not going to repeat everything we talked

about before.

But there is a specific aspect of regions which I want to discuss, and this is selecting regions.

So, as we said, almost every resource in Asia should be placed in a region.

And as you probably remember, when we created a new resource group in the portal, we had to select

8

the region it will be placed in.

So, for example, also when creating a virtual machine, we need to select the region in this case

10

with us.

But, of course, you can pick whichever region you want.

So the question, of course, is how to select region.

What are the factors that influence the regions that we select for our resource?

So it turns out there are multiple factors and I want to review them.

So the first one is geographical proximity to the systems audience.

So if you will take a look again at the original, you should always pick the region that is the closest

17

to the audience you target in your system.

So, for example, if your target audience is in the United States, then you should probably pick one

19

of these regions.

On the other hand, if your target audience is located in Australia, then you should better pick one

21

of these.

So this is the fifth factor, the geographical proximity.

Another one is services availability.

So it turns out not every actual service is available in all the regions.

And as you can see from this table, which you can access using the link at the bottom of the slide,

the premium plan of actual functions is not available in the region.

Canada is also the premium plan.

Linux and the consumption plan Linux of Asia functions are not available in this region.

In addition, consumption plan Linux is also not available in West central US region.

So as you can see, not all services are available in all the regions and you should always make sure

that the service you want to create is available in the region you want to use.

Another factor is availability zones.

So, as we discussed earlier, some of the regions have availability zones.

And as a reminder and availability zone means that the region has more than one physical data center

35

so that if one data center fails, we have another one that will keep walking in this region.

So if you have strict redundancy requirements and you want to make sure that in the case of data center

37

fellow, the region will still be available, then you will better go with a region that has availability

38

zones.

Next is pricing and it might surprise you, but there is a difference in some cloud services pricing

40

between regions.

So, for example, if you look at this screenshot, then you can see that a virtual machine is specific

42

for machine in no way, which will cost around one hundred ninety two dollars per month is the very

43

same.

Virtual machine will be cheaper in with us.

As you can see in this region, this machine will cost one hundred fifty two dollars per month.

So this is another factor which affects the region selection.

So these are the factors for selecting the region and I highly recommend applying them when making that

48

decision.
