We're almost at the end of the chapter.

Let's work hard together to complete it.

I will color and finalize the illustration

on the line drawing from the previous lesson.

This is what it looks like with the color scheme

from the rough sketch.

I've already moved the colors to use for Notepad.

By the way, I modified the strawberries

in the center of the retro cake.

Before I start,

I divided the layers

to make it look nice.

Now, I'll create a Clipping Group on top of the color layer

and start to color the base color.

Since this is a simple task to fill the face, I'll show you quickly.

First, I color the main color, red.

We also filled the line color with dark brown.

Let's fill in the rest of the colors meticulously.

For the check pattern on the table cloth,

I created a layer of lower opacity

and then copy and flip it.

The layers get darker where the colors overlap

and create a natural checkered pattern.

I continued coloring the rest of the parts.

When I colored the strawberry jam in the back red, it looked a little standout,

so I changed it to a faded color.

For objects in the back, use light colors

or faded colors instead of primary colors.

Now, I'm going to paint the details in the colors.

The two-tier cake's white was too wide,

so I painted the sides with a dark cream.

I'm also going to paint the reflection on transparent glass.

Just like the tablecloth,

I will color the skirt with a lower opacity layer.

The checkered pattern on the skirt is small,

but the checkered pattern on the tablecloth looks too wide,

so I'll make the pattern on the tablecloth smaller.

When the checkered pattern repeats in a drawing,

make sure there isn't too much size difference,

to make it consistent.

I purposely didn't add much detail to the background,

but I felt like it was missing something,

so I'll add some wrinkles to the curtain

with a light color that won't stand out

so that it doesn't catch the eyes too much.

For the snow falling outside the window,

we can make the dots irregularly

considering the size and position.

The dots can be bigger or smaller

to make it look more natural.

Let's add transparent details to the glass.

Now, I'm going to color the line and smooth it out.

The whipped cream's color is too light,

so the details I drew won't stand out.

So I adjusted the color to make it more visible.

The part where the strawberry meets the whipped cream

should be neatly arranged.

The character is such a small area.

That's why I'm going to clean it up with a simple brush.

To make it look like the glass is transparent,

paint the inner part

and create a layer of lower opacity

for expressing the color glass.

For the strawberries on the two-tier cake,

I used sugar powder to make it look like it was snowing

to make them suit the snowing background.

I also added snow on the windowsill

and specified the opacity so that it doesn't stand out too much.

I added a natural gradient in the night sky outside the window.

I drew all the steps I planned to do in the first rough sketch.

You can end drawing here,

but I'm going to add a frame to the outline

to make the illustration a little better.

First, I'm going to click Canvas/Canvas size at the top

to enlarge the canvas a little.

And then erase the parts that stick out.

Add a new layer at the top,

and I will draw a lace-shaped frame.

I copied and paste it to the other side.

I'll color the outside of the frame and fill it with a pattern.

There are lots of checkered patterns inside of the illustration already.

So we will use a small dots pattern.

By specifying the opacity, we made the pattern look more placid.

When you have a finished drawing and you feel like something's missing,

or you want to take it to the next level,

draw an outline frame like this.

You can really finish here,

but I want to add more details to the main character

in the middle to make her as dense as the main character.

I'll add lace to the collar.

And also I'll add more details to the apron

and draw the lace on the ribbon.

I also attached a lace to the top of the piping bag.

Finishing the drawing at which stage

depends on the mind of a painter.

If you're satisfied enough then you can finish it early.

But if there's anything that bothers you,

keep working on it until you're satisfied.

Now, it's finally done with working on

an illustration with the background including a specific story.

From the sketch of this drawing to the completion,

it took me about six to seven hours.

Of course, if I add up the hours of conceptual research and idea sketch

before I start drawing,

then it took several days.

When things didn't go as well as I thought they would

I really wanted to give up.

But now that I've reached a stage

that I'm happy with,

and put an end to it, it makes me really proud.

If you experience the satisfaction of completing a drawing,

it will give you the energy and motivation

to keep drawing.
