I like wearing clothes too,

but painting gives me some vicarious satisfaction.

It's fun to draw clothes

that you're used to wearing

and things that you've never worn before.

It's really fun to draw clothes

that you want to wear.

In this lesson, we're going to choose clothes

that match the sketches

from the previous class.

We've even sketched faces and poses.

I skipped this lesson and showed you

how to do the linearization of the face,

but what I'm actually doing is

drawing pose first and then

the order to draw the lines

after you've sketched them all.

you can sketch right away,

but I want to show you

how to style the character when you don't have anything in mind.

For me,

when I'm styling a character,

the most important thing is the overall color scheme.

I'll make the rough color scheme and style the character,

starting with the skin color.

Based on the image of the characters,

the overall color tone will be pink and black.

I'll color the hair temporarily.

I wanted the chic character to have a choker around her neck,

so I drew it first.

And I'll think of a top to go with the choker.

At first, I thought of off-the-shoulder shirts

but it was not enough to satisfy so I keep trying some things more.

I've changed it to a square neck,

and I've added some X straps.

I like this image, so I'm going to refine it a little bit,

and the skirt is going to be a pleated skirt for both of the characters,

so it looks like they're matching.

But since it's all the same color on top and bottom, it's kind of too simple,

so I'm going to change the top

to a tank top and a bolero cardigan.

Only one black tone bothers me,

so I'm going to try other colors, too.

I'm not going to give it too many different colors. I'm just going to give it a little bit of a tonal difference.

I'm going to add some accessories and details.

I'm going to change the hair color

from a temporary color to a more suitable color.

and then I'm going to choose the clothes for another character

This character has a specific image.

I'm going to style her with a pink furry cardigan.

I'm going to rough out the inner clothes color

and draw the cardigan's fluffy silhouette.

As for the skirt,

I'm going to use the same design but a different color.

The temporary color of her hair is similar to the cardigan,

so I'll change it to other colors.

I think this color suits this character,

so I'll go with this color.

Compared to the character on the side

the neck part seems empty,

So I will refine it and check the details.

I'll draw a thin turtleneck sweater for the inner clothes.

Make sure to draw the accessories and details for not missing.

I'll also draw some hairpins.

This time, I'll put them on both sides.

Now that I have the overall image,

I'll make a detailed sketch.

I also thought about

how to decorate the choker.

Wrinkling clothes is hard for many people.

The elbows are pulling on the fabric,

so it will wrinkle in the direction of the elbow.

Instead of drawing small wrinkles,

let's draw big wrinkles while thinking about the direction of the force.

Let's imagine how the rest of the clothes

are draped along the lines of the body.

I drew them with my imagination.

Let's draw the skirt along the lines of the pelvis.

Now, I'm going to sketch the hand

by drawing the palm first as I showed you in the previous lesson.

Then I'm going to draw the fingers

stretching from the bottom to the top.

I'm going to zoom in and sketch the details.

The sleeves are long, so the back of the hand is half covered.

I'll draw along the fingers.

Now, I'll draw small accessories like earrings, rings,

Even it is small parts so that

I tend not to draw them in the rough sketch step.

But sometimes i forget, so I will draw them now.

While drawing the nails, we'll refine the shape of the hands.

Now, let's sketch the other character.

We will draw it by emphasizing the fluffy cardigan.

The wrinkles on the clothes will remain the same as the fluffy feeling.

Hide the layer that's in the way and draw it.

Again, we drew the skirt at an angle to the pelvis.

Let's draw the hand with the arms crossed.

In the same way, draw the palm from the bottom

while imagining the fingers holding the round cylinder.

Now, let's draw the details.

Turn on the first layer that we've worked for the color scheme

and check if I forgot something.

Once you're done thinking about the details and the shape,

the sketch is done.

We've sketched the characters by expressing the character's personality

from the colors and materials of the clothes and accessories.

We matched the skirt to the same design

and made a similar outfit with a cardigan and inner

so it looks different,

but still looks similar

So I've meant it to be similar-look.

I opened the drawing which is worked on the face line drawing from the previous lesson.

Now, we're going to work on the line drawing of the clothes.

I'll give you some tips on

how to draw clothes.

First, draw a thick and soft cardigan.

Draw a curved line

so that there are no angular edges.

I made it look like it's flowing smoothly along the arm.

On the other hand, a pleated skirt

would have some stiffness in the fabric to maintain wrinkles.

I'll mostly use straight lines to make it hard.

It will have sharp edges.

For the wrinkles, draw straight lines.

For the sleeves,

draw it with a round shape covering the palm.

Depending on your preference, draw the nails.

You can skip the nail part for the hands that haven't gotten a manicure.

I'll draw the details of the clothes with a thin line again.

I didn't draw lines on the inside,

but omitted certain details.

For the part where the fabric goes back along the body

if you draw the back of the fabric,

it will look more natural and three-dimensional.

If you draw small accessories like earrings and rings

with thin lines, it will become too detailed,

so I drew them all at once with a thick line.

Now, let's draw the next character.

Let's draw the round turtleneck according to the cylinder shape of the neck.

Now, we've added some thickness to the fabric.

Just like when you draw the doll,

keep using short curved lines

to make it look fluffy.

We've also added fluffy lines to the wrinkles.

Let's draw the hand according to the sketch.

I think it'd be more natural to keep one finger apart from others

rather than the original sketch,

so I'll fix it and draw it.

Again, using a long straight line,

let's draw a stiff skirt.

Add some details with thin lines

skipping some parts.

I thought about it a lot until the end,

but I decided to make a heart-shaped necklace for both of them.

The line drawing is done.

We can see the personality of the character

more clearly than before drawing the clothes.

You can imagine and draw what kind of clothes

the character would like to wear

what kind of clothes are inside their closet.

In the next lesson, we will color on this line drawing

and also learn how to express makeup.
