we're going to design our own unique character.

When you suddenly want to create somethin gout of nothing,

you might not know where to start.

In that case, let's imagine that you are taking a photoshoot.

Consider how we're going to shoot and how we're going to plan the overall concept,

and who we're going to use to hire the model who fits the concept.

Then we'll decide on hair, fashion and makeup.

This is similar to the process of designing a character.

First, I'm going to decide which kind of character i am going to draw.

I am going to draw two characters.

One will be cool and chic,

and the other one will be lovely,

a contrasting two types.

As for the hairstyle and the fashion style, we will add similar elements

to each of them while still revealing their personalities

to make them look like a set.

We will start with a rough pose.

First, the chic character

will be gently relaxed

and chin up looking down

Just like the tips I've shared when we drew the whole body

I will draw the body first

by slanting the shoulders and the pelvis.

I'm going to draw her legs only up to her thighs,

but I'm going to make them lean like crossing her legs.

I'm going to have one hand on the waist in a pose,

and I'm just going to mark where the hands are, and then I'm going to go into detail when I'm sketching.

For cute looking, I wanted to put her arms crossed, ƒs 03:01.780 -- 03:05.900 so I marked the arms position first.

Again, keep in mind that the angle of the shoulders and the pelvis.

I drew the character in a cute pose.

I won't actually draw the arms in the back,

but to see the exact position, I'll draw them.

Erase and clean it up.

I'll draw the head at an angle looking upward.

The neck is out of alignment, so move it to the center of the shoulder.

Compared to another character,

it looks smaller, so I'll make it bigger.

When you draw two characters together,

make sure the head doesn't look different in size or proportion,

so let's take a good look at the initial stages.

I think I'm all set.

From the pose stage, I've expressed the character's personality.

Zooming in and sketching from the face,

let's draw the shape of the face.

Now, we're going to draw the eyes.

If she raises her chin

and looks down,

the eyeball will be facing down.

The eyelid will be drawn

along with the eyelid.

The chin will be relatively long.

The ear will be between the eyebrow

and the nose.

Let's drawing thinking about those things

draw the upper eyelid flat

and the lower eyelid round.

Just like how the eye is looking down, draw a lower eyelid.

Since the eye is facing down,

the lower eyelid will be covered more.

I'll mark the nose and the mouth.

I'll change the direction of the eyes

and draw the eyebrows.

I've drawn an arch of eyebrows.

I've marked the ears.

I've roughly drawn the face looking down with the chin up.

Let's change the facial expression a little.

I'll draw one eyebrow with a frown.

And if you raise the lower eyelid like this,

you can create frowny eyes.

Now, I'll draw the hair

until I find the perfect bang.

I want to show the eyebrows that are frowning,

so rather than having bangs,

I'll use a few baby hairs that have no bangs.

I want to use short hair in the back,

but it'll look boring,

so I'll draw the half twin tail.

Let's make the mouth slightly open.

If you emphasize the front part of the brows that are frowning,

you can create a sketch of the face that shows its chic personality.

Now, let's move on to the next character.

If you look up like this,

you'll see that her eyes are raised.

It also makes her chin look shorter.

Her ears are raised too.

Now, let's keep this angle in mind while sketching.

Since the eyes are pointed upward,

the lower part of the eyeball should be upward

For the eyelashes, I'll emphasize them a little more.

I'll refine the eyes until I get the impression I want.

The chin looks too long for the angle, so I'm going to refine it.

I'll position the eyebrows and ears

and continue to refine the eyes.

I think a round eye would suit the face better, so I'll change it.

Now, we're going to draw the hair.

This time, we're going to draw bangs to give it a cute look.

I want to make it look similar,

so I'm going to draw it with the same half twin tail

but I'm going to make it longer.

Do you remember how to draw the hair

from the previous chapter?

By freely drawing straight lines,

you can define the flow.

If you erase the overlapping parts

and clean it up, drawing face is done.

Now, it's time to decide what clothes to wear and sketch.

We're going to do this in the next lesson.

I'll start by showing you how to linearize the face.

If you see a glimpse of my sketch,

think of it as a spoiler.

Let's start with the eyes.

The eyes are the important part that determines the impression of the character,

so erase them and draw again until you get the desired eyes.

I rarely draw the eyes at once, so I always redraw them

over and over again.

If you keep trying,

you will eventually draw them, so be patient and keep trying.

I carefully drew the frowny face.

Since her eyes are facing down,

I drew the light on the eyes below.

Let's draw the nose and the mouth.

I think I've done the eyes, nose,

and mouth. So let's zoom out and

take a look at the overall sketch

but I'm worried about the spacing of the eyes, so I'll adjust it.

I think this character's eyebrows are important

so I'll be extra careful.

Now, we're going to draw the hair.

It'll be too long to show everything at the same speed,

and since it's similar to before,

I'll skip it at a faster pace.

I drew the hair sticking out in the front

while thinking about fixing it later.

Just like the hair can change shape so easily,

when I draw the hair,

I try to keep it as free and smooth as possible.

Even if it's a little off,

I try to draw it many times quickly.

Sometimes, when you draw a random line,

you'll find a better feeling.

Since I drew long and fast lines, my hair got a little long,

but it doesn't look bad,

so I drew the hair longer accordingly.

I made up for what I lacked in my sketch.

Now, I'm going to draw the rest of the characters.

To make them look adorable,

I'm going to emphasize the round eyes

and long eyelashes.

I wanted to make the crease different from the other character,

so we made it thin and invisible.

To find out exactly where the lower eyelashes are,

I'll return to the rough layer

and draw an underline.

I drew the light upward to match the raised eyes.

I made the eyebrow round so that it doesn't stand out too much.

After drawing the face, the dars and neck

drawing the face is done.

Again, I'll show you the hair at a faster rate.

I draw and draw until I get the line I want.

I added a thin strand of hair that wasn't

in the sketch to give it

a colorful silhouette, not a single section.

I'll draw the part that's slightly sagging due to gravity,

the part that's tied tight and the part that's pulled tight

while thinking about the flow of the hair.

Let's clean the part up where two hair overlapped.

The head of the character with her arms crossed is generally a little further back

but one or two hairs are sticking out

I've also added hair that goes over the shoulders of the other character,

so that they look like they're intertwined in a natural way.

Even the face line drawing is done.

Let's draw the character by using the right pose

and angle of the face

to emphasize the character's personality.

We'll be able to enhance the characters' personality
