Hello. In this lesson,
I'm going to color the line drawings we drew last time.
I'll teach you
how to mix colors in harmony with just
a few colors, using paint, clipping masks,
and I will share the tips on
how to finalize the drawing without lighting and shading but still doesn't look too simple
First, open the line drawing that we worked on last time
There's a separate layer for the accessories case,
so I'll click the merge button and combine them into one layer.
Make them close for easy to color.
And we will choose the main color,
the main color can be the color
that takes up the biggest space.
Or even if it's a small area,

the color determines the main mood of the drawing.
I'll use this shade of pink as the main color
and add a new layer under the line drawing group
to create an impression while coloring the base color
Depending on the area the color occupies, the color scheme will look different.
For the base color, I'll use a brush that doesn't have a texture
and color it neatly.
Pink has different shades of pink,
so I'll move the color palette around a little to find the color that I want.
I'll try with dark and light color
From the main color palette,
try not to move this round part,
but move it inside the rectangle
to select a color.
If you choose a color from a similar color palette without moving,
it will look more cohesive.
However, if all the colors are colored within this palette,
it would be too simple.
So for the point color, let's move
this around a lot and color it in a light blue color.
Point color literally means,
coloring the stand-out part even though it is a small part.
These colors are called complementary colors on the opposite side of the color palette.
I think I'm getting the picture now.
When you color the rest of the parts,
choose within the palette that you've chosen so far
and you'll be able to color them more harmoniously.
You can color it inside the pink palette.
You can also color inside the sky blue palette.
We've decided to color the main color pink,
so make sure the sky blue doesn't get too big.
I think we've decided on the color palette.
I'm going to extract these colors
and transfer them to the notepad
the function I taught you in the program settings.
Hide the temporary color schemes layer
and create a color group.
When coloring, start from the biggest part
and the bottom part.
Paint it like you're stacking them on top of each other.
Let's color the areas inside the outline.
My line drawing style is that there are holes,
so I can't use the paint tools right away.
First, let's outline
and fill it with paint.
If you fill it with the paint tool as a basic setting,
you will see this white unfinished coloring.
In this case, if you change the Color Difference setting
of the paint tool, it will be fully filled in.
I'll erase the inner part that I didn't pay attention to.
Let's outline the cotton doll
where I want to paint it the same way.
Cherry has a closed line, so I'm going to fill it all
click All image,
make the line drawing can be recognized.
Then I'm going to fill it with paint.
If you have a closed line unlike me,
fill it all at once like this.
Now we've done for the big area
let's color the inner side as well.
Add a new layer
and create a Clipping layer.
Select the color from Notepad.
Let's color small areas.

Same for the accessories case,
let's color it from the bottom face in orders.
If there are many overlapping areas, add a new Clipping layer.
We're going to clip the mirror separately,
so we're going to create a new layer and paint it.
Make a mirror Clipping layer and paint the reflection of the light.
Now, we've colored the overall base color.
It's normal to add shading here,
but I'll give you a tip to make it more complete
without adding any shading.
First, add a layer.
I'll add highlights to smooth objects
to give it a glossy look.
Let's draw a highlight on the corner of the jewelry box.
Draw the same thing on the lid.
I want to add highlights to the necklace,
but it's already white,
so I'm going to use a spreading brush
to color pink first.
And then if you add highlights, it would be clearer.
Again, using a soft brush with a smooth edge,
color the parts that you want to soften.
First, select the area you want to color and create a new layer.
Then the Clipping layer will be created under it automatically.
To make it look like it's reflected light,
we loosened it with a light color.
Let's add glow to the cotton doll.
I'll smooth out the mirror
and refine the parts that stand out.
Now, we have more details without shading.
The thicker the lines and the more detailed the drawing,
the most important thing is
to color the lines.
Right now, the lines are black,
so select a dark color from the main color palette.
Create a Clipping layer on the line drawing group itself
and pour it all at once with the paint tool.
If you color the lines with the main color layer,
it will make the drawing more cohesive.
Now, I will make another Clipping layer
and color the lines inside the outline.
When you do this,
the hard lines will be smoother
and the colors will be richer.
Let's keep loosening the rest of the layers.
I like to use an open brush
to create an ambiguous feeling.
If you divide the lines according to your preferences,
it will look cleaner.
Let's make the white part soften.
It's the difference between softening and before softening
the line and not loosening it.
It's much softer now.
Now, let's color the line of the accessories case.
Let's clean up the areas that stick out.
The parts which are hard to figure out where they belong to with the overlapped lines, 21:00.880 -- 21:04.230 we will arrange them clearly.
The coloring is finally done.
This is your mission.
Based on the line drawing you did in the previous lesson,
color them with the combination of main and point colors.
These are examples I tried.
Instead of using too many colors at once,
let's try to understand which colors suit each other first.
The point color doesn't have to be a complementary color.
Even if it's similar with different saturation,
it will contrast well but you can still choose a harmonious color.
When you color,
it's okay if you don't try to use the unique color of an object.
Even if it's cherries,
you can try using orange or purple.
I want you to do as many experiments as you can,
just in case you're not ready for your line drawing,
download the file that I've attached to the class note.
Practice your color schemes.
We've already completed the first chapter.
I'm sure you've gotten a sense of how to draw now
and done with warming up
What you've learned in this chapter
is fundamental that will be applied through the class
so please keep it in mind.
In the next chapter,
we'll learn the basics of character drawing.
I'll see you in the next chapter.
