Hello. After these long prep lessons,

In this lesson,

we're finally going to start drawing.

Out of the three images that we've collected in the previous chapter,

please choose the three objects that you like and are particularly fond of.

We're going to learn

how to draw objects in lines,

so it's best to choose objects

that are colorful in shape and structure.

For example, even if you're really attached to a smartphone,

it doesn't have much to do with anything other than being square and smooth,

so it's not suitable for practice.

However, an object with such a complex structure

would be too difficult for you to warm up.

I chose natural cherries,

and plastic accessories case

that is hard and shaped like hearts.

I'll share this photo in my class notebook,

Subtitled by -♪ online-courses.club ♪- We compress knowledge for you! https://t.me/joinchat/ailxpXoW3JVjYzQ1

so if you don't have a suitable object

or want to follow along with this lesson,

download it and use it.

First, open the appropriate size canvas.

I'll open it at 3000 by 2000 pixels.

Paste the source for reference.

Open the photo

and select the area you want to copy.

You can copy by clicking the Edit, Copy button in the top menu

or Ctrl C on the keyboard.

Again, come back to the canvas and Paste in Edit

or control V on the keyboard. Paste that in.

Instead of placing it on the canvas,

You can leave a separate window open on the side

or draw with your phone screen close by.

On the new material layer, create a rough group

and a new layer.

First, let's draw the cherries.

Select the light gray

and select the right brush.

Let's start with the general placement and size.

When you draw precisely along the outline

or start with small details, it's easy to lose your balance.

I'm going to draw a simple shape to balance the drawing

and pick a darker color to give a more detailed shape.

If you haven't tried drawing for a long time,

you might not be able to draw a straight line at all.

However, you are more than welcome to cancel the execution and redraw it,

or you can use the Eraser tool to refine it,

so just keep repeating it until you find a line you like.

As I explained before,

if you're familiar with the shortcut,

you'll be able to save a lot of time.

Natural objects like cherries don't have a specific shape and are all different colors,

so it's okay if you don't try to copy it too much.

But observe the shape of the cherry

as you draw it.

Next, let's draw the cotton doll.

Again, let's start from the overall proportions.

Mark the difference in the size of the head and body.

Let's mark the general direction in a straight line

and draw the rest of the parts according to this.

Be careful with the proportion of the ears and legs.

Now, we're going to pick a dark color and draw a specific shape.

We'll add cotton texture to emphasize the chubby face lines.

Keep looking up and down and observe the shape.

For the ribbon, I'll make it look straight on purpose

and draw the eyes, nose, and mouth.

The legs look longer,

so I'll erase the rough sketch of the doll.

Next, I'll draw the accessories case.

Again, draw the overall size first.

Like the accessories case, the object that has a certain geometry or structure that's complicated

is easy to draw with broken structure.

Before drawing the details, let's first draw the auxiliary line,

add the auxiliary line layer,

and select a color that stands out.

First, draw the centerlines of the heart

and draw parallel lines on both sides.

Draw parallel lines in the opposite direction.

Draw the heart along the auxiliary line.

Draw the auxiliary line first, same for the lid.

Make them all same angle in the same direction.

Draw the heart upside down along the auxiliary line.

When you're done drawing the outline

we will turn the eyes off and hide the layer,

and then we will draw the side too.

The lines we drew before are in the way, so we'll erase them.

Now, I'm going to draw the small details.

Since if we draw everything we see will be complicated,

we will only draw what we really need.

First, draw the mirror on the lid.

If you draw a reflection in the mirror,

it would be highlighted too much

so we're going to skip this part.

And then draw the hinges here.

Draw the things necessary to make the object work,

it is more convincing and more natural.

It's okay if you don't know the exact structure of the parts.

We'll just draw it like it doesn't look awkward.

This small part and the middle part are distractions

that break the heart shape, so I'll skip them.

So you can skip them according

to which parts you want to emphasize.

If you extend the bottom part

where you can't see it, it will look more natural.

Subtitled by -♪ online-courses.club ♪- We compress knowledge for you! https://t.me/joinchat/ailxpXoW3JVjYzQ1

We're almost done with the rough sketch.

You can finish it as is,

but it won't be fun if you just copy it.

So I'll arrange it in a way that I can imagine.

I'll add a ribbon to the cherry.

I'll make the cotton doll's eyes look like she's sleeping.

For the accessories case, I'll draw a situation the things inside the case with imagination

I thought it'd be nice if there was a ribbon

and a necklace hanging around here, so I'll draw it.

Please arrange it

with your own imagination and tastes

The rough sketch is really done.

Are you following me so far?

The rough sketch is a sketch you only look at,

so if you have a clear image that you want to draw,

you can skip it even more.

But if you emphasize the overall proportions

and the details that need to be depicted,

it will make it easier for you to draw the linear art later on.

Before we start drawing lines, let's talk about the brush setting.

One of my features is thick lines.

But not everyone who's taking this course needs

to use brushes that are as thick and have as much pen pressure as I do.

I'll show you examples I drew with various brushes,

and I've also captured and uploaded the setting value of the brushes,

so if you use the SAI tool, please refer to it.

First, the cherries that I've drawn with the brush that I usually use.

I added spread and paper texture,

and I changed the brush size by the pen pressure

When you add a texture to the brush, the lines will look fuller,

and the slightest tremors will overlap more.

Secondly, I took out both the texture and the pen pressure settings.

The regular thickness of the lines makes it hard to add details,

so the drawing becomes simpler.

But it also makes it look clean and cute.

Thirdly, set the density setting to around 70 and drew it with a thin brush.

Although lines don't have a lot of strength,

since lines are thinner, you can draw them in detail.

For the parts that I overlapped, the lines got darker,

so I overlapped the areas I wanted to emphasize.

Lastly, I emphasized the texture a little more.

The irregular lines and bumps

make it looks like it's been hand-drawn.

It's useful when coloring with watercolors

or something lyrical.

How is it? Can you feel how different are they?

Try setting different brushes

and find the lines that match your drawing.

The tips related to how to use the lines which will be taught at the end of this lesson

are common things that can be applied on the various brushes,

so even if you use different lines, please refer to them.

Now that we've learned about brushes,

let's start copying the lines.

I'll adjust the opacity of the rough group to make it blurry.

And I've added a line drawing group and a new layer

Select black and choose the prpper size brush.

I chose 20 pixels.

Depending on the size of the canvas or the brush setting,

adjust it to the appropriate brush size.

To draw in more detail, I'm going to zoom in on the areas I want to draw

by controlling the strength of my hand

and applying pressure to the areas I want to draw thicker lines.

When you want to use thin lines,

especially the edges,

let's control the pressure to clean up the lines.

Cancel and draw

until you get the feeling you want,

then trim the lines with the eraser.

When you're done drawing,

loosen the grip and draw a thin line inside.

For those who it's hard to control the pressure,

you can change the size of the brush.

However, if it's too short than the outline it would be awkward

So just reduce one or two sizes.

Pay attention to the thickness of the ribbon.

If it's your first time drawing,

it'll be hard to control the pressure.

When that happens, I recommend that

you draw with less pen pressure brush and build up strength in your hands.

Once you're used to it

try drawing with the brush that has pen pressure.

Now, I'm going to draw a cotton doll.

I'm going to add a cotton doll layer

and draw emphasizing the cute and chubby face line.

Draw short curves with rhythm as if you're snapping your wrist.

For the fuzzy hair, draw short strokes.

It will emphasize the difference between long and short lines on the ears.

Again, draw thin lines to add details on the inside.

For the ribbon and the body,

let's add thick lines on the outside and thin lines on the inside.

If you add thickness to the lines,

you will be able to create a strong and colorful line.

Zoom in on the canvas and draw the face.

Draw pointy lines to depict the lashes.

Let's zoom out the canvas and refine it by looking at the overall image.

The cotton doll is done too.

Now, let's draw the accessories case,

starting with the outline and overall shape,

just like how we drew the rough sketch.

When you draw a smooth surface like plastic,

even if it's slightly off, draw long and fast lines.

If you draw a line slowly, you can see the tremors in your hands.

Did you know that there are different curves

that can be easily drawn depending on the person

who is right-handed and left-handed?

I'm right-handed, so it's easier to draw a line in this direction

but it's hard to draw a line on the other side because my wrists are bent.

In this case, you can use the flip button

to make it easier to draw.

Now, let's draw with the left and right flip function from time to time

Let's draw the bottom part with a fast and long line.

Now, let's draw the details

by adjusting the thickness of the lines.

Even if you don't understand its structure,

you just need to know what it does for the viewer.

If there are a lot of overlapping elements,

add a new layer and it'll be easier to arrange them.

I'll zoom in and draw the ribbon.

If you leave some space

between the ribbon and the case,

it will look like the ribbon is hanging over it.

I'll draw short lines to make it look cozy.

Erase the parts that overlap.

I'll draw the parts where I didn't draw the rough sketch properly.

Now, I'm going to draw the necklace.

If you draw the parts in circles,

it looks like they're not

playing well together,

so I'll make them overlap on purpose.

While drawing I feel like the inner part looks empty,

so I'll go back to the rough sketch

and imagine how the necklaces connect.

I'll turn the eye off of the rough layer and hide it

and erase any unnecessary parts and clean it up.

Finally, the line drawing has been finished.

How is it?

Now may you know how to draw?

It's your turn now.

Start from the outline, balance the rough sketch,

control your strength,

and express the line strength.

Draw three objects and share them via the comment section

I'm very curious as to what kind of lines you use

and which object, and how you arrange them

I'm looking forward to seeing them.

For those who have time,

use brushes with different settings

and choose the lines that suit you the best.

It will be very hard to find the lines

that suit your drawing from the start.

It took me a lot of trials and error to find this line.

In the next lesson, we're going to color the lines

based on the lines we drew this time.

We're going to be using Paint and Clipping Mask,

and I'm going to show you the simple ways of combining them in harmony,

and I'll see you all in the next lesson.
