Hello. Classmates.

After the Welcome chapter,
we get down to the class.

Before we start drawing,

we're going to spend some time to find out what my preferences are.

What do you think preferences are?

To me, preferences is the feeling of what a person has seen, heard,

and experienced throughout his entire life slowly building up inside of him.

It's not a gift that you were born with,

and it's not something that you can buy.

I can't say which is better or worse.

What about you?

People often point to something

that
excites them, and say, "This is my type."

But if you want to explain what your
type is,

it won't be easy to come up with.

If you're a little bit ambiguous,

if you're a little bit of anthropomorphic,

if you're a little bit of a mishmash,

if you've never really thought about it this way, it's hard to define language clearly.

If you want to incorporate your drawing's preferences

and personalities,

you must first get to know what your preferences are.

So what we're going to do is we're going to take each

of these preferences that we have

and we're going to categorize them,

and we're going to define them,

and what I want you to do is I want you to collect images of what you normally like.

You can take photos of your favorite celebrities and characters,

or you can take

photos of your favorite items from your personal collection.

You can also download images from social media

and other things and store them in your phone album.

Instead of trying

to find a new image,

try to scrape as much as you can around you.

And group these into similar categories.

I categorized colors
using the biggest criteria.

If there's anything that you think it's is similar,
anything will be good enough.

During this process, discard the images

that don't belong to any category.

For the vague photos,

we placed them on the border between the two groups

and rearranged them into the atmosphere that they give off.

Even if the colors are similar,
they may not look the same.

Even if it's the same red,

even if it's the same strawberry,

the feeling of the image is very subtly different.

I drew three big groups.

Looking at them one by one,

I'll write down the words that describe these groups,

the general words that go through them,

and if there are elements that overlap,

I also like the details
that describe them.

I'm going to transform sensual and ambiguous images

into the most objective and definitive language possible.

For me, in this first group, words like

black, high-teen, chic, heart, and butterfly were used.

For the second group,

words like pastel, pink, lovely,

soft, cotton doll, heart were used

And finally, in the group with the most images

words like red, retro, vintage, cherry, strawberry, heart,

and bear were used

I think we can divide my tastes
into three categories.

If I were to categorize my drawings according to my tastes,

they would be divided into like these.

There must be some images on the line between the groups.

There are so many things I want
to express when I draw.

That's why I add everything. In the end,

I lose my sense of direction.

If I choose one or two of my favorite categories and focus on them,

you'll see things to emphasize and things to reduce.

For the classmates, the mission is

to categorize these images

and write words from the images in the comments.

I tried separating them

to show you,

but you don't have to do what I did.

You can work with your phone

Or you can make your own folders on the computer.

You can do anything you want.

How did you classify them?

What words did you come up with?

Just by sorting out the photos and translating them,

you can understand your tastes

better than just the images.

You may discover the preference you didn't know

Let's take the rest of the lessons

and figure out

how to express these words in the drawing.

The images that you've worked on today

will be a precious document
filled with my tastes.

Let's check it again time and time again as you draw,

because your tastes may expand at any time,

or you may change your path in another direction.

Also, be proactive and get to know new things,

so that you can improve your tastes even more.

and warm up.

We'll learn how to balance the shapes,

how to express strong lines,

how to color them,

and the basics of drawing.
