Original subtitles

Come on, men! Work harder!

Dear God! Thank you!

The river bears gold! Gold, I say!

Gold?

Simon took off and went straight to the Cavdar Tribe.

Only Ural would protect him.

Ural Bey is a good trader, sir.

He knows all about worthless goods and useless partners.

He's cleared his name by killing Simon.

And in doing so, he's become a hero to his tribe.

We'll have to hold out on the matter of Ural for now, Bey.

Candar and Aliyar Bey believe he is innocent.

If we push it too much we'll risk trouble with the Cavdar Tribe.

You're right, Artuk Bey.

You are right.

I shan't behead him with my sword,

but I'll be breathing down his neck nevertheless.

Until the right time comes.

The right time

Thank you.

Our days of suffering and yearning are behind us now, Çiçek Hatun.

We said we'd only be happy

when our tribe was happy and at peace, Doğan.

Thank God those days have finally come.

Thank God.

Our tribe has seen victory, at last.

Our Bey has invited us to the feast tonight. You should get ready.

It'll be a feast worthy of a happy day.

I hope so.

But it's harder to protect this happiness than to take it.

I hope to God every day is like this one.

Then, Doğan,

you should prepare yourself for an even bigger joy.

What's it, Çiçek Hatun?

I'm pregnant, Doğan.

My God! My God!

-I'm going to be a father! -Be quiet! They'll hear you.

Let them hear! Let the whole realm hear! I'm going to be a father!

Excellent news! Now that is something worth celebrating!

God bless you, Çiçek Hatun.

I'm going to be a father!

With God!

You beat me to it, son.

I yield.

When an enemy yields, you capture him.

We don't kill our prisoners, son.

You will pass my teachings on to your siblings when you grow up.

When will that be, Daddy?

When the trees blossom, son.

But when will they blossom, Daddy?

When you sleep, Gunduz. Come on, time for bed.

Sleep now so your sibling can come.

Okay. Come now.

Why are you so restless?

I worry about the future of our children, Ertuğrul.

It'll be a bright future, God willing.

I hope so too, Bey.

This Ural Bey,

he takes Simon's head and basks in glory like nothing else matters.

It feels like there's no end to this hypocrisy.

As long as people like him exist, people like us will also exist.

Don't worry.

May God keep you and men like you with us always, Ertuğrul.

Amen.

Amen, Halime.

Amen.

You made me proud by taking

that heathen's head, Ural.

All I strive for in this life is to be a son worthy of you, Father.

It was fortunate you chose that moment to prove yourself, brother.

Thanks to you, we were able to support Ertuğrul the best way possible.

As you say, he was able to conquer, while you were able to take our revenge.

While we were still grieving him, he triumphed in the blink of an eye.

I still cannot fathom it.

He did the right thing. Ertuğrul Bey knows full well

that the unexpected strike yields the best results.

Ertuğrul is a great warrior with even greater ambitions.

We'll benefit greatly if we can get him on our side.

Brother.

Thank God we were able to conquer that huge market.

But you look as if you were on the losing side. Cheer up, will you?

I stayed with those heathens so that I could unmask

those villains, Simon and Ural.

But that Ural he was able to squirm out of our hands.

That's better, brother.

We'd truly be beyond compare if we'd managed to rid of our enemies all at once.

Brother, let's just enjoy ourselves. We'll deal with Ural another time.

Yes, brother. We will.

Get ready, brothers!

What are you doing sitting around?

-What's up, brother? -What's up, brother? Is it the enemy?

Enemy? What are you talking about? It's a baby! A child!

Why are you looking at me like that? I'm going to be a father!

-God! -Bless you!

Brother, we'll have a nephew! Or a niece!

Brother.

I hope to God that you live to see your grandchildren.

I hope so too!

Your father's sole purpose in life was to secure land for his tribe.

He worked day and night to achieve his dream.

If he could only have seen this day

The son of wolf is a wolf, Mother.

It's not easy to be a son worthy of Suleyman Shah.

We still have a long way to go.

There is no end to this road. It doesn't end.

You have walked on the path of Suleyman Shah,

just as your children will walk on the path you pave for them.

May God bless you with children in your image.

Amen, Mother.

The prophet, His Holiness, says a man with a good child

has his deed book open forever.

We can't thank God enough for blessing us with such a son as you.

Nothing fills me with as much pride as being your son does,

not conquering the bazaar, not conquering the whole realm.

My brave son.

I'll check the preparations.

We were barely able to get by until recently.

-And now, we have feast after feast. -Thank God, Mother.

Those days of hardship are a thing of the past now.

Now, with God's help, we'll enjoy peace and many feasts.

I hope so, my dear. I hope so.

-May I enter, Mother Hayme? -Come in, Abdurrahman.

-Candar Bey is here, Mother Hayme. -Show him in.

Welcome, Candar Bey.

May God bless your feast.

-Amen. -Amen.

Is Ertuğrul Bey inside, Hayme Hatun?

Yes, he is.

May I enter, Ertuğrul Bey?

Come in, Candar Bey.

-Peace be upon you. -And peace be on you.

Come, sit.

After a day like this,

your sword must need sharpening.

You never know when and where the enemy will strike, Candar Bey.

My sword must be ready at all times.

Your enemies at the bazaar will have known that.

However,

your conquest will attract a great deal of attention.

You are now in grave danger.

This will have angered a great number of people, especially the heathens.

What I mean is that

however strong it may be

a lone tree falls easily.

The Kayi and Cavdar tribes must unite

and grow into a huge forest.

Thank you, Candar Bey. I agree there is strength in unity.

And if that unity is cemented with blood ties,

it will be set in stone.

With your permission,

as a sign of our unity, I'd like

you to marry my daughter Aslıhan.

Bey.

Supper is ready, you may come.

Thank you, Halime Hatun.

We were getting hungry, right, Ertuğrul Bey?

Go ahead, Candar Bey.

Are you not going to say anything, Ertuğrul Bey?

They're waiting for us. Let's not make them wait now.

We'll talk after supper.

Please.

Let's eat.

-Welcome to my table, Doğan. -Thank you, sir.

-Let's eat. -Bismillah.

We've been through a lot.

Yet here we stand. Together, we stand united.

We eat at the same table in happiness and sadness.

As we share, we shall prosper, God willing.

-God willing. -God willing.

God willing.

Conqueror of the bazaar, Ertuğrul Bey.

As your riches multiply, so too will your enemies.

We became conquerors by feasting on our enemies, Ural Bey.

Let there be more enemies,

so that the swords of our men do not rust.

There's no doubt about it.

Just as your enemies rise in numbers,

you would do well to increase the number of your allies, too.

When you wage war,

you will have the people you need fighting for you.

It's always better to have allies than enemies.

We had Banu Çiçek from Dodurga Tribe marry our Doğan Alp,

and in so doing, we united with them.

And now,

in the same way, we shall continue to bond through marriage,

and strengthen our ties.

We hope to see those days, as well, Mother Hayme.

I hope so.

-I hope so. -I hope so.

Obviously, those days are not far off.

The truth is, Ertuğrul Bey,

the ties between our tribes will be bound more securely through marriage.

We must strive

to unify all Turkmen tribes, not just our two tribes.

We have been scattered far and wide.

You do have a point, Ertuğrul Bey.

I like you for your broad perspective.

The surrounding tribes will surely side with the largest and strongest tribe.

And Cavdar Tribe is more powerful than the others.

The peaceful shadow Candar Bey's tribe will cast

over the other tribes will surely protect them from misfortune.

Ural Bey

We fight with what few men we have until they run out of breath.

We hope only to bring order to these lands.

To achieve order, one must have

devotion, earnestness and courage.

The tribe that upholds these virtues

shall unite the other tribes under their flag.

As for the shadow of Candar Bey's tribe,

I hope to God that you do not fall prey to arrogance.

Let's eat.

Let's eat.

HANLI BAZAAR

Well, Bamsi? We've all gathered together.

Stop eating for one second and tell us the story.

-Come on. -All right!

My brothers!

Now, listen to me.

Listen to me now, brothers.

Once upon a time, in some Turkmen tribe,

there lived a gallant man by the name Bamsi Beyrek.

Aren't you called Bamsi Beyrek, brother?

No, brother, no. It's just a coincidence.

That Bamsi Beyrek is different to this Bamsi Beyrek.

But that Bamsi Beyrek was just as brave, just as skilled a fighter,

and just as honest as this Bamsi Beyrek.

So much so, brothers, that when he mounted a horse, it would fly!

Brothers

When he rode a horse, it could go without sleep for three days.

Brothers!

One day, at the camp,

he heard of a woman that could hold a sword and handle a bow.

Bamsi Beyrek thought he'd found the perfect match for himself!

So, he goes to see her. However, she says,

"The man must be braver than I, shoot an arrow straighter than I,

ride a horse better than I, and wrestle better than I,

if he wants to have me."

She goes, "What am I supposed to do with a man who can't beat me?"

What a woman!

Yes, I'll tell you about that woman, brother. You'll hear for yourself.

Back to the story.

So, they shoot arrows, and Bamsi Beyrek wins.

They race horses, and Bamsi Beyrek wins again.

They wrestle and Bamsi Beyrek wins.

She has no choice but to marry Bamsi Beyrek.

Brothers, they hold feasts and they have festivals.

Yes, they do all that, but

the story doesn't end there. Brothers

You know how they say there are traitors in every nation?

Brothers, the traitor in the tribe

goes to Bamsi Beyrek and says,

"Bey, the enemy is nearby,

they're weak but they mean to do bad things."

Now, Bamsi Beyrek, he frowns, his brows knit together,

and he rides towards the enemy!

He goes to their hiding place.

Brothers! Brothers!

To his surprise, he realizes he's been lured into a trap.

Brothers, they catch Bamsi Beyrek on the night of the festival.

They throw him into a cage.

So the lovers never meet again?

Wait, brother, wait. Tomorrow is another day.

The story doesn't end there.

Brothers, years pass, and Bamsi Beyrek is never seen of again.

Everyone is wracked with grief.

The woman is the most sorrowful of all, brothers.

After who knows how many years, Bamsi Beyrek is still missing.

His brother, gripped with worry, sends for his men,

he tells them that if anybody brings him the news that his brother is alive,

he'll make him rich!

And whoever brings news of his death, will get his sister.

"I just want to know," he says.

Brothers

At that time, there is a spinner of yarns who goes by the name of Yalticak.

Brothers, all Yalticak does is lie like there is no tomorrow.

He takes a shirt Bamsi Beyrek had given him long ago,

and soaks it in the blood of a sheep he kills.

He takes the shirt to the brother and says,

"Look, Bamsi Beyrek is dead! And this shirt proves it!"

Brothers, brothers.

Everybody cries. Everybody grieves.

The brother also weeps.

However, he must keep his word.

So, he gives up his sister.

Brothers

Years pass, and at long last Bamsi Beyrek returns to his tribe.

But, brothers, he's only a ghost of the brave man he once was.

His back is humped

That once brave man returns a living corpse.

Before long he hears the drums. There is a festival.

Brothers, the woman he loves is marrying!

The woman he loves is being married to someone.

No, don't do this!

My brother!

The woman still loves Bamsi Beyrek.

The festival is like a funeral for her.

Brothers,

Bamsi Beyrek pretends to be an old bard.

He takes his lute and starts playing.

He plays a mournful tune, brothers.

He plays a very sad tune, and they ask, "Who are you?"

Bamsi Beyrek takes his lute and sings

Time flows

And men sink into oblivion

Brave men, few and far between

And you, asking me my name

It's Bamsi Beyrek, son of Bure!

Brothers, brothers! Everyone is shocked.

Everyone rejoices!

Bamsi Beyrek is alive! Bamsi Beyrek didn't die after all!

Now they beat the drums for Bamsi Beyrek!

The festival is for Bamsi Beyrek now.

Brothers Patience leads to salvation.

The lovers meet at last.

The traitors are brought to justice.

But, brother,

how long was Bamsi Beyrek imprisoned? How long did she wait for him?

Sixteen years, brother.

My brothers! Heed my words!

A man needs a woman who is willing to wait 16 years for him.

And that woman needs a man who won't run off with another woman.

What about our Bamsi Beyrek? When is he getting married?

So,

Gunkut Up you get.

No, sit.

I'll lift you up.

Günküt, brother, I'm married to my sword.

A man needs to be told but once.

I understand, brother.

I was prepared to give you my precious daughter

in the blink of an eye.

I wanted grandsons that'd lead the Oguz tribes one day.

I wanted them to spread fear to heathens. And look what happens.

Ertuğrul Bey stays as silent as the grave.

I am honored. You honor me, Candar Bey.

I wish for the same things.

But the burden you want me to shoulder is not a light one.

I must weigh it up.

If I, Candar Bey, son of Yenal Bey, say something,

I have already thought it through.

You should know that, Ertuğrul Bey.

This was meant to increase the trust between us.

Instead, it is weakened.

Don't underestimate the value of a man's word.

No riches, no victory

should entice an honorable man to lose sight of his honesty, Candar Bey.

We know how honorable and generous a man you are.

When Candar Bey deems you worthy of his daughter,

you must return the favor.

And with regard to the market

The Cavdars see its potential.

If we were to build on the Cavdar's trading experience,

it would prosper.

Are you staking a claim on the bazaar, Ural Bey?

Ertuğrul Bey, it's a prize of conquest.

You conquered the market,

and I killed Simon, the man that slipped through your fingers.

So,

it's only natural for me to make a claim on it.

I see that you've come prepared.

It's the first time I've seen you present a united front.

I'm happy for you.

As for your proposal,

I'll speak with my family then consider it.

Ertuğrul Bey,

all my father and brother want is to stand united.

After all, the Cavdar tribe is strong enough

to lay waste to its enemies and protect its allies.

I hope you don't plan to humiliate me.

And I hope my night will end with some good news.

Have a good night's rest.

Abdurrahman!

Yes, sir.

Send news to Hayme Hatun.

I'll be waiting for her in Artuk Bey's tent.
