(lively tempo music)
(shoes scuffing)
(ominous music)
- Does he know where it is?
- Yes.
But you may have to sweet talk it out of him.
(captive huffing)
- What is your name?
- Andrew.
- Andrew,
make this easy for all of us.
Make this easy for yourself.
- If I wanted to make this easy,
I would've invited your mom.
(Andrew laughing)
(punch thudding)
(Andrew laughing)
- You know what I want.
Do you understand the seriousness of this situation,
or do I need to spell it out for you?
- I don't know, do you...
happen to have any "Hooked on Phonics" on hand?
(punches thudding) (interrogator grunting)
(punch crunching)
(Andrew groaning)
(Andrew huffing)
If you get it, I'm already dead.
We're all dead, don't you get that?
- I need the device.
Where is it? (Andrew gasping)
- Andrew,
we can't kill you until you tell us.
He's just going to keep hurting you.
(Andrew gasping)
(Andrew coughing)
- My friend, Anya, here,
she knows your family.
Isn't that right, Anya?
- Jessica,
Chad,
your mother's little fluffy dog.
I might keep the dog for myself, yeah?
- I mean, I never really liked the dog.
- Maybe I'll feed him your fingers
before we dump your body in a ditch.
- Fingers.
(ominous music)
- You're out of options.
Talk!
(Andrew huffing)
- It comes in two pieces,
a proprietary case and a processor.
They don't work separately.
- Where's the case?
- [Andrew] The case is in California.
(lively tempo music)
- Ugh.
Ladna...
Fine, fine, I'll go to California.
(lively tempo music)
- The processor,
it's here, isn't it?
- [Andrew] Yes.
I can get you access to it.
- Yes,
you will.
(exciting beat music)
(computer keys clicking)
- Richter,
when's the last time you talked to Grey?
- Oh, Mr. Grey?
- Yeah, "Mister."
- He's, well, you know,
working tech in the field,
traveling a lot,
keeping it easy.
Staying out of firefights and combat.
- I wouldn't wanna put him through that again.
(gentle tempo music)
- Yeah, well the council doesn't know shit!
I'm sending my agent in!
Well get the fucking approval!
Agent Flynn, thanks for coming in.
- So what's the story, boss?
- [Boss] Let's get to it, Mal.
- You got it.
- Over the past couple of months,
we've noticed an increase in activity with Matthias Frost.
- [Flynn] The international terrorist?
- [Richter] Yes.
Ex-military.
He became disenfranchised with the system and went AWOL.
- Yeah, next thing you know, he pops bombing facilities,
stealing cash.
And he's building an arsenal.
- He has a small band of ex-military from around the world.
But to infiltrate different cities,
he's going in and recruiting gang members
to understand how local law enforcement operates.
- So what's he planning?
- Well, over the past year,
his team has been kidnapping certain individuals.
- All these men worked together
over the course of several years on an underground project,
creating a device of unknown intent.
Then, suddenly,
they all just went their own separate ways across the world.
- Until Frost came by to visit, I'm sure.
Let me guess,
they all showed up dead about a day or two later.
- Exactly.
Because of this, we still don't know what the device is,
but we do know that it's of great value to Frost.
- Whatever it is,
he's close to obtaining it.
- A report just came in.
Andrew Patterson,
the last living collaborator on the device,
was kidnapped.
All signs point to Frost.
- So, you fly me in and, what?
I take out Frost and his team?
- Unfortunately,
(lively tempo music)
it's not that simple.
- We need to know what this device is,
and we can't risk it falling into the hands of the CIA
or a terrorist group.
Now while we don't know what it is,
(Richter sighing)
we do know where it might be.
- We have records of Patterson storing the package
at a high level security firm.
Your first objective...
is gonna be to go procure this thing
before Frost and his team does.
- And my second objective?
- If possible,
we're gonna need you to bring him in alive...
(Flynn chuckling)
if we're gonna take him down for good.
- I'm sorry,
you want me to take him alive?
Are you at least sending me in with a team?
- No.
- You may be able to turn one of Frost's newest recruits.
- What?
- As far as we can tell,
one of them hasn't been fully radicalized yet.
- Well, how radical is he?
- Not that radical.
His name's Johnny Mai.
His psych profile suggests he could be brought to reason
and used against Frost.
- What if he doesn't want to cooperate?
What if he doesn't want to turn on his terrorist pals?
- You're just gonna have to convince him.
- We'll send Raven ahead as your analyst.
She'll be there to assist with intel and resources.
- You like her.
- Oh, well there's some good news.
You'll have a beautiful woman to report on my death.
- Come on, Eoghan.
- All right,
it is what it is.
Look,
I'm no negotiator but maybe I can talk to this kid.
- Word of caution,
he appears to be a highly trained martial artist.
- Hey, you'll probably get your ass kicked.
- Well, there's something to look forward to at least.
(lively tempo music)
(trainers grunting)
(trainers grunting)
- Hey, Nico,
you ready for this mission?
- I'm ready for whatever Frost needs.
- He still hasn't told us exactly what we're getting.
- We're not of rank yet.
It we do this, we'll actually earn it.
- I just think it's odd.
- Do you not remember all those years
being lackeys in that gang downtown?
What was the meaning of that?
- Nothing.
- Exactly.
With Frost, we have a way to change things.
We have a purpose.
Everything we've done up until now is for this reason.
And whatever it is,
the world may change with it.
- That guy, Andrew,
he said a lot of people would die, Nico.
- Where there's weakness...
there's illness.
(car engine humming)
(car beeping)
(gentle tempo music)
(Johnny gasping)
(phone alarm jingling) (phone buzzing)
(sinister music)
- Good morning, warriors.
Everything we've built leads to this mission.
I promised you we would change the world,
and at the end of this mission,
we will have the unlimited power to do so.
Now, there are some people who will say
that the state of this world is harsh and ruthless.
I disagree.
The weak fear challenge, (ominous tempo music)
fear aggression,
fear strife.
Conflict is the whetstone by which we refine society.
Anything too weak is ground away
and only the strong remains.
Where there is weakness, there is illness.
And we...
are the cure!
Hooah!
(warriors yelling)
(lively tempo music)
All right, gentlemen, let's go over this one more time.
Group one, you have five minutes.
File in through the garage entrance
and take your positions throughout the building
to ensure us a clear path.
Blend in, act natural,
but keep your eyes open for possible threats.
(lively beat music)
Eric and Nico,
you two will break off and secure the second floor.
I don't wanna deal with any heroes,
so take out any wandering staff or security
and assume their positions.
(punch thudding)
(upbeat guitar music)
Once the path is secure,
Johnny and I will escort Mr. Patterson to the meeting
and sign out the package.
Identify and divert any threats,
and unless we're compromised,
radio silence will be maintained.
Johnny,
you and I, we're gonna carry it out.
- We got this, Johnny.
(lively beat music)
- Let's go.
(lively beat music)
Just stay calm and everything will work out.
(high heels clacking)
- Hello.
Welcome to Cobalt Securities.
How may I help you gentlemen?
- Hi, we're with Tacticon Design Firm.
We're here to pick up a package.
- Okay, I'll need to see the paperwork.
- Paperwork?
- No worries, ma'am.
The paperwork.
The approved paperwork for the package.
- Oh yeah, of course, I'm sorry.
- Thank you.
(ominous music)
(Andrew sighing)
(eerie music)
- Thank you, Mr. Johnston,
we look forward to working with Tacticon again.
- Uh...
Yeah.
Thanks.
(ominous music)
(footsteps rumbling)
(lively tempo music)
- Boss, you've got a tail.
- Take care of it.
(gentle tempo music)
(exciting drumming music)
- Everything all right?
- Of course.
(exciting drumming music)
(elevator bell dinging)
(exciting drumming music)
Interrogate him.
We can't have anyone interfere.
(exciting beat music)
(kick thudding) (Frost groaning)
(Frost grunting)
(punches crunching)
(Frost yelling)
(Johnny groaning)
What the hell are you doing?
(ominous music)
(door clanking)
(blade swishing)
(kicks thudding)
(gun cranking)
(gunshots booming)
(blade swishing)
(lively beat music)
(gun cranking)
(gunshot booming)
- Ceasefire!
(gunshots popping)
Fucking stop or I'll shoot.
- Drop him, jackass!
(gunshot booming)
- Oh, fuck.
(exciting drumming music)
(gunshot booming)
(blood squelching)
(exciting drumming music)
(body thudding)
(bones cracking) (Frost screaming)
(kick thudding)
- No, no, you can't, please!
You can't!
(elevator bell dinging)
(Johnny groaning)
(punch thudding)
(exciting beat music)
(punch thudding)
(Frost yelling)
(kick thudding)
(ominous tempo music)
(Johnny and Frost grunting)
(punches thudding)
(Frost groaning)
(exciting drumming music)
(Frost yelling)
(kick thudding) (Frost groaning)
(Frost groaning)
(Frost yelling)
- [Frost] Goddamn it, Johnny stole the package!
- What?
- One of you assholes stop him!
- Got it!
(exciting drumming music)
(Eoghan sighing)
- Well.
(kick thudding) (Eric groaning)
(lively tempo music)
(Johnny groaning)
(Nico grunting)
- You're not thinking straight.
Listen,
you don't have to do this.
- We don't have to do this.
Come with me.
(Johnny grunting)
(Nico groaning)
(Nico huffing)
(ominous music)
(suspenseful music)
(ominous beat music)
(Johnny huffing)
(suspenseful beat music)
(ominous tempo music)
(distant traffic honking)
(Eoghan sighing)
(gentle ambient music)
(Johnny sighing)
(suspenseful beat music)
- Ah!
- Johnny!
I need to talk to ya! (punch thudding)
Would you just wait a-
(suspenseful beat music)
(punch thudding)
(muffled beat music)
(Eoghan sighing)
(suspenseful beat music)
(kick thudding)
(punches thudding)
- I don't...
want...
to fight!
Johnny!
(arms swishing)
(gun clanking)
(suspenseful beat music)
Ah, you gotta be fucking kidding me!
(Johnny grunting)
(gun clicking)
(kick thudding)
(Johnny grunting)
Now, Johnny,
I will fuck you up. (punch thudding)
(suspenseful beat music)
Ya fuck. (kick thudding)
(Johnny huffing)
Wait.
(Eoghan huffing)
(Eoghan groaning)
(Andrew whimpering)
- Well that was a shit show!
- What the hell happened?
- I don't know, boss.
That guy just came out of nowhere.
- Where's Devon?
- He shot him.
(Frost sighing)
- What about Johnny?
- He cracked.
- What? (foreboding music)
- He cracked.
I saw it in his eyes last night.
- And you didn't think to tell anyone about this?
- He looked nervous.
He's looked nervous before, but...
He didn't back down.
- "He didn't back down."
He attacked me!
He took the processor.
The only one!
(ominous music)
Do you know where Johnny lives?
- Johnny?
Yeah.
- Go to his place and see if you can find any traces
of where he might be going.
- [Eric] And if he's home?
- Then you kill him.
(ominous music)
(car whooshing)
(door knocking)
(lively tempo music)
(door banging)
- [Eric] Johnny!
Open up!
(lively tempo music)
(door thudding)
(punches thudding)
(Eric groaning)
(Eric groaning)
(Johnny coughing)
(kick thudding)
(Eric huffing)
(Johnny gagging)
(punch thudding)
(kick thudding)
- Johnny, stop, dear God, for just a moment!
- What're you doing here?
Who the hell sent you?
- Well, I'm not working with Frost.
- I kinda picked up on that much.
- It took you long enough.
Look, I'm here to help you.
I'm gonna take you back to my safe house
and we'll work out a plan from there.
All right?
- Who are you?
- All right, fair.
My name's Eoghan Flynn.
(gentle beat music)
Me organization has had our eyes
on you for awhile now, Johnny.
We figured we could turn you against Frost,
but it appears you've done that work for us.
- [Johnny] Your organization?
CIA, NSA?
- No, independent,
but right now, irrelevant.
(gentle beat music)
(Eric groaning)
What does matter is that device
and what you and I are gonna do with it.
- How can I trust you're trying to help?
Do you know what this thing is,
what it can do?
- Now we only have theories.
Frost is a seasoned professional, covers his tracks well,
but we do know that your little elite team
was put together for this very mission.
- Frost has wanted this thing for a long time.
He's gonna kill a lot of people with it.
- So, kid, what is it?
What is the device?
(smooth beat music)
- Honestly, I don't know.
- Oh, son of a bitch.
Does anyone know what this bleeding thing is?
(Johnny snapping) - Andrew does.
- And where is this Andrew?
- He's with Frost.
He's a hostage, so...
- So you risked your life on whim then?
- Hey,
I knew it would kill a lot of people.
Is that not good enough for you?
I'm just trying to do the right thing.
- Okay,
fair play to you.
But, question,
did you pack after betraying a deadly terrorist?
- Okay, that's not fair. (door thudding)
(Eric grunting)
- We should probably go.
(Eric grunting)
- Yeah.
(foreboding music)
(phone buzzing)
(phone beeping)
- Anya.
Did you get the proprietary case?
- [Anya] Yes, we have it.
- Any problems?
- Not anymore.
(ominous music)
What about you?
Tell me.
I hear it in your voice.
(knife clicking)
- We had some interference.
An unknown assailant.
Devon...
(ominous music)
Devon was killed trying to stop him.
- [Anya] CIA?
MI6?
- Can't be sure yet.
But it's to be expected.
- Matthias, something else happened, didn't it?
Tell me.
(ominous music)
- Johnny betrayed us.
- What happened?
- I didn't even see it coming.
How did...
How did I not see this coming?
It's like...
It's like Budapest all over again.
- No, we learned our mistake in Budapest.
We were sold out.
- We were so close.
I was consumed by the goal.
When the firefight started, I didn't...
(Frost sighing) I...
I didn't even see our brothers fall.
- [Anya] Frost.
- I almost killed us,
and now Johnny.
- Matthias,
Johnny was a fluke.
You know who to trust.
- If it weren't for you, Anya,
I would've been killed a long time ago.
- We have taken on a heavy burden.
The coming war will redefine humanity for generations.
Johnny was weak and could not bear the weight.
Where there is weakness...
- There is illness, (ominous music)
and we are the cure.
We will learn and adapt.
- [Anya] And what of Nico?
- We'll see.
- [Anya] Just two days until I'm back.
We will accomplish this.
- Two days.
(ominous tempo music)
(phone beeping)
- Okay,
are you ready?
(clasps clanking)
What the hell is this?
- I don't know.
- Ugh.
- Hold up.
Andrew, that technician we kidnapped,
he said that the device was in two parts,
a case and a processor.
- All right, we need to figure out what this thing is.
- What if we just destroy it?
(Eoghan chuckling)
- Look,
whatever this is, it's part of something bigger.
Smashing it might alleviate our symptoms
but it won't solve our potential troubles.
If Frost finds out we smashed this,
he might be off in the wind.
We need to grab him while he's still here.
- But if we have to,
we smash it.
(Johnny sighing)
So, what now?
- Well,
got a little bird to call.
- Sir, I'm sorry, the man came and I-
- [Frost] Eric,
go to the car.
- Yes, sir.
- Nico,
what happened today?
- I...
I don't know. (ominous tempo music)
He's never done us wrong before.
He's never done you wrong before today.
- That's not good enough.
- I'm just confused, boss.
I've known this guy my whole life.
I didn't see this coming.
- When I came here, I put this entire unit together.
- I handpicked the people
for their skills and their knowledge,
you and Johnny especially.
But I see in you, the ability to change the world.
That's why I gave you a new life,
a life I can take away.
Now,
the bonds of friendship
can be the strongest thing in this world,
and that type of loyalty, strengthened through conflict,
can build a bond that will last forever.
So how can I trust, against my better judgment,
that you won't follow Johnny,
that you won't help him, to save him, from me?
- Frost...
- What's to keep you from breaking too?
(ominous music)
(gentle beat music)
- Cad รฉ mar atรก tรบ, a stรณr?
- Eoghan.
Oh, hi Johnny, nice to finally meet you.
Hoping Eoghan, here, didn't give you too much trouble.
- No, it's okay.
- What're you saying?
You've been causing me all the trouble.
- We both know that you had it coming.
Where's the device?
- Which device?
(Raven chuckling)
- Uh, it's right here.
Sorry, I don't know what it is.
Frost didn't tell me.
- And you didn't ask?
- Hey,
I tried.
Frost is intimidating.
- Well, this is definitely gonna put us at a disadvantage.
- Now, apparently it only works with a proprietary case.
It's a small part of a bigger puzzle.
- Hmm.
Strange.
I'm gonna need a specialist.
- Yeah?
Who are you thinking?
- Ah, well lucky for us,
Mr. Grey just got done with another job in a state over.
- Mr. Grey?
- Is that a problem?
- Oh no, I love Grey,
it's just, you know how he is with holding grudges.
- Oh.
Yeah.
Well, let's try to keep him out of harm's way this time.
(Eoghan chuckling)
- All right.
Without the proprietary case,
there may not be much he can do.
Perhaps he can crack its code and divine its purpose.
Just go to the safe house, lay low,
and Mr. Grey should be to you by tomorrow evening.
- You got it.
- Oh, and Johnny,
thank you.
(crickets chirping)
(Frost sighing)
- What is the device?
I know you've told the others,
but you wouldn't tell Johnny and I.
- Everyone earns their rank.
- I get that, I really do,
and I understand that we're the newest,
but you have to tell me.
Boss, if you really think I'm going to break,
then tell me,
and if I do,
then you kill me right here. (knife slicing)
(knife clinking)
(Frost sighing)
- It's nuclear, Nico.
(ominous music)
It's the ultimate nuclear weapon.
- "Conflict is the whetstone that refines society."
Where there is weakness...
- There is illness.
- I'll do it.
I'll find Johnny,
I'll bring the processor back and I'll make this right.
- And if Johnny tries to stop you?
- I'll do what I have to.
I'll kill him.
- Don't disappoint me.
(punch thudding) (ominous music)
- Andrew, was it?
- Will you guys please quit beating me already?
I'm sick of this shit!
Will you guys just ask me a question or something already?
- Fine.
Tell us where the processor is!
- No, no, don't, you guys can't let this guy, Frost-
(punch thudding)
- This is why we keep beating you, man.
Just answer us directly.
- Fine!
Damn it!
Maybe if they hook the processor up online,
we might be able to track them.
- I thought this device needed some kind of special case.
- It does, it does.
The other codes and components on the case
allow us to utilize its functions,
but, hypothetically,
if they were able to hook up the processor,
they might be able to access some of the base functions.
- Why would they do that?
- How should I know?
They might just wanna know what's on it,
and if they manage to hook up the processor,
then it might make them traceable
and we might be able to find them.
- So you're expecting us
to just wait around for this to happen?
- Well, yeah.
Fine.
What do you need to locate this thing?
- I don't know,
give me some coffee or something?
(Nico sighing)
- [Johnny] Hey, Eoghan?
- [Eoghan] Yeah?
- [Johnny] Who the hell are you?
- [Eoghan] What?
- I mean, if I didn't know any better,
I would say you're like a super secret spy or something.
(Eoghan chuckling)
- How's that?
- The safe house,
all the cloak and dagger shit with that lady,
I mean, everything that's happened today.
You said you weren't with the CIA, so what is it?
Who are you?
(Eoghan sighing)
- Well,
I guess it's the least I could do.
The CIA and MI6,
they work for the benefit of their countries,
working in the shadows to do whatever must be done.
Now, at face value,
that's a noble idea,
but how often are individual countries' ideals
at odds with the rest of mankind?
- That's a rhetorical question, right?
- Too much power, covertly operated, leads to no good.
Something had to be done.
Some time ago,
a small group gathered together
to form an independent organization
to help mankind, as a whole, not any any individual nation.
- How do you fit into all that?
- Well, I'm what you'd call a field agent.
Once they've determined a mission,
they send out an agent to handle the situation.
So, yeah, basically a secret spy or something.
So what about you?
- Huh?
- What's your story?
How'd you end up working for an international terrorist?
- Oh, uh... (gentle music)
I've done a lot of terrible things. Hurt a lot of people.
(gentle beat music)
- What?
Are you worried about me judging you?
Christ, Johnny,
I'm not saying I'm a terrible person but this is my job.
I do what I can to avoid it,
sometimes to me own detriment.
Believe me, killing is my last choice, but-
- But nothing I did was justifiable.
I didn't save anyone!
I just hurt them.
- Well, who did you hurt today?
- Uh...
Frost.
Nico.
- And why did you do it?
- I don't know what I'm doing.
(Eoghan chuckling)
- No, I think you do.
So tell me, Johnny,
why did you do it?
- I mean, they were gonna use this,
whatever this is, to hurt a lot of people.
- So what you're telling me is,
you kicked the bad guy in the face
and possibly saved countless lives.
Does that sound right?
Yeah.
You did the right thing, Johnny,
and you'll do the right thing tomorrow,
and the day after that,
because today was your new beginning.
Slรกinte.
(gentle beat music)
Now, let's eat.
- Hey, wake up, fool!
- Jesus.
Give me some damn coffee then.
(computer chiming)
- Hey, James?
- [James] Yeah?
- Get me if he finds anything.
- You got it, man.
(Johnny huffing)
(Johnny sighing)
(Johnny groaning)
(Nico sighing)
- What the hell are you doing, Johnny?
(lively tempo music)
(exciting beat music)
(Johnny yelling)
(Nico grunting)
(exciting beat music)
(Johnny exhaling)
(Nico grunting)
(Johnny exhaling)
(lively tempo music)
(eerie music)
(knife clinking)
Nothing yet, boss.
(eerie music)
- Take Gustaf and Eric, go canvas the city.
James will watch Andrew.
- Copy that, sir. - Mmm.
(eerie music)
(ominous beat music)
(elevator bell dinging)
- Hey, wake up!
- Jesus Christ.
You tell me to wake up, never, "Keep it up."
I swear, if we could just get a little
motivation around here,
maybe- - Ain't nobody
wanna hear that shit!
- [Eric] This all looks the same.
- Yeah, it's...
We're still in the same street, Eric.
It's going to look pretty fucking similar.
- How does it feel in the back seat?
(Eric mimicking laughing)
(lively tempo music)
(door knocking)
- [Eoghan] Grey, good to see you.
- Mr. Grey, you know this. (ominous music)
And...
what the hell is this about now, Eoghan?
- What the hell took you so long?
(Grey groaning)
- Okay, let's see what we got.
(ominous music)
(computer beeping)
(computer keys clicking)
(computer chiming)
(Andrew clearing throat)
(computer beeping)
Okay,
you think you're clever, huh?
- What are you doing?
- The processor has a lot of encryption and firewalls.
It's locked down really tight.
- [Johnny] So what can you do?
- What can I do?
If you know where to look, you'll always find a back door.
And I always know where to look.
(computer chiming)
Got it,
mostly.
- Okay, Grey,
what is it?
What is this thing?
- Okay, so the operating system is pretty old.
Looks like it's meant to connect wirelessly to something.
Seems like it wants to connect here, which is weird.
- Mr. Grey,
would you talk to us?
(Grey groaning)
- You're impatient and I don't like it, you,
I don't like you.
- Sorry, Mr. Grey, we've been waiting all day.
- I don't care about that either.
Okay, this processor is designed to wirelessly connect
and hack into a specific mainframe,
and once it does, it uploads a virus
that gains full control of that specific mainframe.
- What's the mainframe?
- Hmm, that's a good question.
It's what they're paying me to figure out.
(computer chiming)
(computer keys clicking)
No.
- What happened?
- Yeah, fuck, we're done.
- Oh, shit.
- Huh?
You say something?
- No, no,
can, can, can, can you give me some more coffee?
- No, I wanna see what's up!
- I...
Nothing, nothing at all, you know?
I swear- - Hey,
I know you're lying to me.
- Wait, I just, just, just-
- You found them, didn't you?
- No, just don't worry about it, just-
(punch thudding)
- What?
What is it?
- What's it?
I mean, it's the worst thing.
The scariest thing you could possibly...
What, what exactly is Frost planning?
- [Eoghan] Jesus, just tell us man.
- He...
He said that conflict is what defines us
and progresses society and mankind.
- Okay, poetic,
completely useless.
What, specifically, is Frost planning?
- I don't know.
- Have we checked that spot over there?
- Yes, Eric, we checked that spot last night.
We've checked all these spots.
Look, guys, he has an aunt, okay?
He's probably there.
- You're forgetting that fucking man who showed up.
They could be working together.
Where do you think he's at?
- Fucking James is calling me. (phone buzzing)
James.
- Find the fox,
and you find the rabbit.
- What?
- Enough, Grey...
Mr. Grey, what the hell are we dealing with?
- We're dealing with the Dead Hand.
- Dead Hand?
- Flynn.
- Look,
I'm a field agent,
they tell me where to go and whose ass to kick
and I'm the plane.
This isn't really my department.
- Either way, I'm not surprised.
Russia never admitted to its existence.
Hell, they buried any knowledge
the thing was even a thought.
(car whooshing)
Dead Hand is a doomsday device
capable of wiping out all life on earth.
- I'm sorry, a doomsday device?
Like a big space laser or something?
- You think this shit is funny?
- I just can't believe it's an actual doomsday device.
- This shit is real, asshole,
and someone's figured out how to hack into it!
- Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Back up, what's Dead Hand?
What can hack into it?
- Let me explain,
height of the Cold War,
USA and USSR begin stockpiling nukes,
big piles of nukes.
They also start building missile silos
closer and closer to each other.
Remember the Cuban Missile Crisis?
- Well, I wasn't there, but-
- No shit.
So we're at a standstill.
If any side fires nukes, the other side fires right back,
we all die, mutually assured destruction.
But wait,
Reagan gets the idea to put lasers into space,
if they do attack,
we blow their bombs out of the sky
and return fire all we want.
- So it is a big space laser.
- Ah!
Reagan never managed to get lasers into space.
But Russia wasn't going to take that chance.
So what did they do?
- They...
built the Dead Hand?
- They built Dead Hand, all right?
A computer system that monitors key points of Russia
for signs of nuclear attack.
If the USA, lasers or not, do in fact bomb Russia,
Dead Hand activates.
Once activated, whoever's at the control panel
of the Dead Hand can launch any and all nukes
directly back at America.
Them Kung Fu kicks ain't gonna beat a nuke, little boy.
You can't Dragon Stance your way outta
nuclear holocaust, my man.
Anyway, the fallout would be tremendous.
- Gustaf, take the second floor.
Eric, take the fourth.
Move up until you find them.
- [Grey] This device uses Dead Hand as a back door.
- So this device would repurpose Dead Hand,
giving Frost a near-endless supply of nuclear power?
- Can this thing actually work?
- Yeah.
(lively tempo music)
- Oh my God.
- What?
- Look, I only know bits and pieces,
but I'm pretty sure Frost has sleeper cells
all over the world waiting for his command.
We were just the task for to get this device.
- What are you getting at, Johnny?
- I think I know his plan.
(lively tempo music)
(GPS chiming)
His whole philosophy are how war and conflict
are the greatest method of advancing technology,
humanity, society, everything.
"Conflict is the whetstone that refines society."
I mean, he thinks he's gonna help the world save itself.
I think that Frost is gonna use Dead Hand
to start World War III.
(Grey chuckling)
- How noble of him.
- Now, okay, look, if he does launch a nuke,
wouldn't Russia just pull the plug on Dead Hand
and admit it wasn't them?
- Not until after the device launches a nuke.
- I mean, he's probably planning on that.
He just needs one.
All his sleeper cells probably have a plan
to make it look like Russia was responsible.
- Even if they pull the plug, it would be way too late.
- So, question,
why don't we just destroy the processor?
- I don't see why not.
(lively tempo music)
- [Johnny] Is there any special way
that we should smash this?
- Special way?
Smashing.
It's not an advanced concept.
- Okay, fine, what should we smash it with?
- Not a butcher knife.
- What, why?
- You're gonna stab it, you're gonna slice it?
- Well, I mean, yeah.
You would just chip it to pieces.
- Okay.
You are one dangerously overpaid individual.
(door thudding)
(GPS chiming)
(ominous music)
- [Johnny] How am I supposed to do this?
- [Eoghan] Okay, look, you just put it on the board
and you chip away at it.
No, you gotta chip away at it.
Come on, you gotta have some fun,
you gotta enjoy it.
We've got plenty of time.
- [Grey] We have no time.
We're in an Airbnb with an advanced piece
of nuclear technology.
It's tracked, they're on their way.
- You're always worrying...
(ominous beat music)
- Okay, this is ridiculous.
Can we just use this?
- Yes, please.
- Oh, you're no fun.
- [Johnny] Fine.
Eoghan?
- No.
I think you should do it.
(gun cranking)
(ominous beat music)
(kick thudding)
(lively music)
(gun cranking)
(gun clicking)
(gun cranking)
- Fuck.
(gunshot booming)
(glass shattering)
(exciting music)
(gunshot popping)
(glass shattering)
(gunshot popping)
(Johnny and Nico grunting)
(knife slicing)
(Johnny and Nico grunting)
- Every time, Eoghan.
Every goddamn time.
(Johnny and Nico grunting)
(knife slicing)
(gun cranking)
(knife clinking)
(exciting music)
(kick thudding)
(punch thudding)
(exciting music)
You almost shot me.
You little shit!
(Grey groaning)
Wait.
(punch thudding) (Grey moaning)
(body thudding)
(lively tempo music)
(Nico groaning)
- Johnny!
Take it and run!
Now!
- No!
(exciting music)
(Nico groaning)
(glass shattering)
(Johnny huffing)
(exciting music)
- Shit.
(kick thudding)
(Johnny groaning)
(exciting music)
- It's nuclear, Nico.
Millions of people are gonna die.
(ominous music intensifying)
- I know.
(exciting beat music)
(Eoghan groaning)
- Grey.
You're okay.
(exciting beat music)
(kick thudding)
(Eoghan groaning)
(Johnny groaning)
(Johnny and Nico grunting)
(exciting music)
(Johnny and Nico grunting)
(lively tempo music)
(exciting beat music)
That's right.
Just fall asleep.
(Johnny and Nico grunting)
(Johnny groaning)
(punches thudding)
(Johnny groaning)
(footsteps thumping)
(kick thudding)
(Johnny gasping)
- And you are?
- Oh, don't mind me.
Just passing through!
(exciting beat music)
Ha!
(Nico gasping)
(Nico groaning)
(kick thudding)
(exciting beat music)
(Nico grunting)
(punch crunching)
(punches thudding)
(exciting beat music)
(Eoghan groaning)
(neck squelching)
- Nico, wait!
(Nico grunting)
Take it and go.
But if you kill him,
I'll smash it right now.
- Johnny! (Nico groaning)
- I'll snap it in half right now, I swear.
(Johnny gasping)
(Nico groaning)
(Eoghan coughing)
(gentle tempo music)
- Johnny,
if I see you again,
I'll kill you.
(gentle tempo music)
(ominous music)
(door clanking)
(Grey groaning)
- Um...
Don't tell me.
You gotta be fucking kidding me!
(lively tempo music)
- I told you...
I would make this right.
(ominous music)
- [Eoghan] We all know what we have to do.
We're outnumbered and outgunned,
but we have no choice.
Raven's sources say that based
on Anya's last known position,
she'll be in the city in the morning.
- I don't think Frost is gonna waste his time.
He's been waiting for this moment.
- Then we'll have to act fast.
Mr. Grey,
if they use the device,
is there anything we can do to stop it?
- It'll take some time to upload and connect,
and if that happens, I'll need the case to reverse it.
And if this Andrew guy is still alive,
I'll need his help.
- So we can only destroy it before they hit "launch."
- Right.
I'll need it intact.
- All right.
Let's get to work.
(lively tempo music)
- Anya,
welcome back.
- Are you ready?
We finally have it.
(ominous music)
- So ends the tyranny of the weak.
(gun cranking)
- Your pal, Nico,
is gonna be a problem.
- I know.
- Now, look, Johnny, I'm not telling you to do it, but...
if you can't take him alive-
- I'll do what I have to.
This is bigger than me.
- A lot bigger.
I appreciate the pep talk but...
we're probably gonna die,
so if we get our shit together now and go,
that'd be nice.
- You feeling nervous, Grey?
- Shotgun helps.
- Another day on the job.
(somber tempo music)
- Everyone here... (sinister music)
was chosen not just for your skill
but your dedication to the cause.
And you've all proven yourselves worthy.
The governments of this world are not fit to rule,
but we have the power to change that once and for all.
This device...
gives us power over the Dead Hand,
the largest nuclear stockpile ever created.
With this, we have power.
Today we launch a revolution.
Where there is weakness,
there is illness,
and we are the cure!
Hooah!
(warriors yelling)
(Eoghan slow clapping)
- Matthias Frost,
you must really think who you are.
- Who the hell is this?
- I know who I am,
now more than ever.
Do you know who you are?
- Are you asking if I know who I am?
My name's Eoghan Flynn,
and yeah,
I'm the man that's gonna take you down.
(Frost laughing)
(warriors chuckling)
- That's funny.
That's funny.
See,
in order for you to stop me,
you need to get through all of my warriors
and then get through me,
but to accomplish my goal,
all I have to do is flip this switch.
- [Eoghan] Cool it, Frost.
(guns cranking)
- Who the hell do you think you are?
You come in here with your slow clap bullshit.
What're you gonna do, huh?
We should blow your damn brains out right here.
- [Johnny] Don't do it, Anya.
- Johnny. (gentle beat music)
- The prodigal son returns.
- You can't use the Dead Hand.
- Hell yeah, we can.
- You can't prove your valor on the battlefield
if we're all vaporized. (lively tempo music)
- Why do you think it's never been used before?
- Because no one had the will.
Come on, Matthias, do it!
(Grey huffing)
- Have you,
have you forgotten who I am?
- We all joined you, Frost,
because we thought you gave us a higher purpose,
but your only purpose is to hurt others.
A true warrior protects the weak.
(Anya chuckling)
- When I'm done with this world,
there won't be any weakness left!
- Screw this.
(ominous music intensifying)
Hey, Frost!
(guns cranking)
Get a load of this. (shotgun cranking)
(gunshots booming)
(exciting beat music)
- [Nico] Whoa, get down!
- Shit.
- Jesus Christ, Grey!
(gun cranking)
(gunshots booming)
(rapid gunfire popping)
- God, god!
(gunshots popping)
(lively tempo music)
(gun clanking)
(Gustaf yelling)
(thug yelling) (rapid gunfire popping)
(suspenseful beat music)
(gunshot booming)
(James groaning)
(ominous tempo music)
(shotgun cranking)
(Grey groaning)
(suspenseful beat music)
- No, no, no!
(Grey gasping)
(Nico groaning)
(Frost gasping)
(suspenseful beat music)
(kick thudding)
(computer beeping) (ominous music)
- No!
(computer beeping)
- Oh my God!
(James grunting)
- Matthias, leave!
(suspenseful beat music)
(gunshots popping)
(gunshot booming)
- Eoghan, we need that case!
(gunshot popping)
(shotgun booming)
(gun clicking)
Shit.
(gunshot booming) (thug groaning)
(suspenseful beat music)
(Grey sighing)
You're not going anywhere.
(suspenseful beat music)
(gun clicking)
(Gustaf growling)
(Eoghan groaning)
(Gustaf yelling)
(thug yelping)
(bone crunching) (thug yelping)
(punches thudding)
(suspenseful beat music)
(punch thudding)
- Is that all you've got?
(punch thudding)
Do it again!
(punch thudding)
- Come on, Johnny, let's go!
(kick thudding)
(suspenseful beat music)
- What're you doing later?
- Uh, trying not to die.
- Let's go ahead and save the world real quick.
- Okay.
(suspenseful beat music)
- Frost!
(Frost groaning)
(lively tempo music)
- Get the case!
Get that case!
(Grey groaning)
(foreboding music)
(Nico gasping)
(Nico groaning)
(ominous tempo music)
- Get to Andrew.
I'll take care of this.
- Right on.
(ominous tempo music)
(door thudding)
- Frost.
- You are persistent, aren't you?
- For all this warrior talk you sell,
you sure do run from a challenge.
- I'm getting that case back.
(Eoghan chuckling)
- Over my dead body.
(ominous tempo music)
- Now,
there's a challenge I'll accept.
(ominous music intensifying)
(exciting beat music)
(Eoghan and Frost grunting)
(Frost yelling)
- I warned you, Johnny.
I will kill you.
- You won't get the chance.
(exciting beat music)
(Nico and Johnny grunting)
(arms swishing)
(kick thudding)
Get up, Nico!
(Nico sighing)
(Nico groaning)
(Nico and Johnny grunting)
(punches crunching)
(Johnny groaning)
(punch thudding)
(Eoghan and Frost grunting)
- NO!
(Frost yelling)
(exciting tempo music)
(Frost grunting)
(Frost groaning)
- Come on, come on.
- All right, how do we stop it?
- Okay.
So...
Oh God, it looks like we only have five minutes
until the transmission is uploaded to the Dead Hand.
Dang it, I'm locked out!
- Get out of the way, all right.
What if we modify the code?
Think we can reverse it?
- Okay, yes, okay, so that piece of code, right here.
If we just go in, then we should be able...
(exciting beat music)
(gunshots popping)
(Johnny and Nico grunting)
(exciting tempo music)
(arms swishing)
(Nico groaning)
(kick thudding)
(Nico groaning)
(Nico yelling)
(punch thudding)
(punch crunching)
(ominous tempo music)
- Hey, asshole!
Get the case!
- Oh, shit, okay.
Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay.
Okay.
Okay, okay, okay, okay.
(gunshot popping)
(ominous tempo music)
(Andrew huffing)
(Frost grunting)
(exciting tempo music)
(Frost groaning)
(kicks crunching)
(suspenseful beat music)
(Frost yelling)
(punch thudding)
(Frost yelling)
(Eoghan groaning)
(metal banging)
- All right,
fair play to ya.
Come on!
(punches crunching)
(smooth tempo music)
(Frost groaning)
(Eoghan laughing)
(Frost yelling) (kick thudding)
(exciting beat music)
(punches thudding)
(Grey groaning)
- Be the tech guy.
I just wanted to be the tech guy.
(exciting beat music)
(gunshot booming)
(body thudding)
(Johnny and Nico grunting)
(punch crunching)
(Nico yelping)
(lively tempo music)
(punch thudding)
(Johnny groaning)
(lively tempo music)
(computer keys clicking)
(computer beeping)
(computer chiming)
- Finally.
(Anya yelling)
(Grey groaning)
(computer chiming)
(punches thudding) (Frost grunting)
(suspenseful tempo music)
- Oh, fuck. (punch thudding)
(Frost groaning)
- What the?
(punch thudding)
(suspenseful tempo music)
(Frost yelling)
(Eoghan yelling)
(Frost groaning) (bones cracking)
- I told you, Frost!
(suspenseful tempo music)
(Frost groaning)
I'd be the man to take you down.
(punch thudding) (Johnny yelping)
- When did you get so weak?
You betrayed us, Johnny!
(punch crunching)
You betrayed me!
(suspenseful tempo music)
(arms swishing)
(Nico groaning)
(punch crunching)
(suspenseful tempo music)
- Fuck you, Nico!
(headbutt thudding)
(Nico yelping)
(suspenseful tempo music)
(punches thudding)
(Nico groaning)
(Nico gagging)
(suspenseful tempo music)
(Nico groaning)
(Johnny yelling) (punch thudding)
(suspenseful tempo music)
- Hey!
Get your hands off my tech guy,
you Bolshevik bitch!
(Grey gasping)
(computer chiming)
Did you get it?
- I got it.
(Frost groaning)
(Eoghan huffing)
(Eoghan sighing)
(Eoghan laughing)
(gentle tempo music)
(upbeat drumming music)
(arms swishing)
(upbeat drumming music)
(door creaking)
- Eoghan?
- [Eoghan] I didn't wanna leave without saying goodbye.
- How did you...
How are you?
- Sore,
that's fair to say,
but you seem to be all right.
- I'm okay.
- So,
what's your plan now?
- I don't know, exactly.
I'm looking for a place to live.
Sifu said I could stay here,
help teach.
- Ah.
I'll have to take some classes from you.
- So how's Grey doing?
- Oh, you know,
his usual grumpy self.
Though I'll have to repay him this time,
he did kinda save the world.
- So what now?
Off to your next big mission?
- Oh, not just yet.
Raven and I made some extra plans,
we're gonna slip out of sight for a week or two.
(gentle beat music)
You know,
you were really great.
You're one of the best fighters I ever met
and you used that skill for a good cause.
(gentle beat music)
- Yeah.
- Well,
I'll be going now.
- Thank you, Eoghan,
for everything.
- Johnny.
(gentle beat music)
Johnny,
I was thinking...
You call this number
and you tell them I've sent you.
- Why?
What's this for?
- You're a natural, Johnny,
one of the best I've ever seen.
There are hundreds of Frosts and Anyas out there
just waiting to hurt someone.
I believe your purpose
is to work for our cause.
- I don't know.
(Eoghan chuckling)
- I think you do know.
I think you know, deep down, that you're capable of more,
that you're meant for more.
And, hey, we'd get to work together again.
We'd be unstoppable.
I'll be seeing you, Johnny.
(door clanking)
- Nah.
(phone buzzing)
(phone beeping)
- Who's this?
- This is Johnny Mai.
Eoghan Flynn sent me.
- Oh, that prick.
I told him not to give you this number.
But he wouldn't shut up about you, so...
I hope you're serious about this call.
- If you send me out there to stop more people like Frost,
then I'd say this is worth it.
- Oh, a tough guy.
I like it. (lively tempo music)
All right, kid, I'll give you one shot.
You in?
(lively tempo music)
- Yeah.
I'm all in.
(exciting beat music)
(exciting beat music)
(gentle tempo music)
(exciting beat music)
