Right after the '58 World Cup-

- I started gathering tens of thousands of documents, images and articles.

One thing after another was revealed-

- which pointed to the strange conclusion-

- that this '58 World Cup never existed.

I've now gathered all this material in a book.

I don't think it's only relevant for us Swedes-

- it's a matter of concern for the entire world. It's such a horrifying story-

- that it simply has to be brought to the public's attention.

It's not just a matter of the sporting world's deceitfulness-

- but entire continents' deceitfulness, humanity's deceitfulness.

Here, in fourth place, is a country that had us spellbound at the time.

That was 54 years ago. Sweden hosted the World Cup.

The pros were present, as were the future stars.

Nisse Liedholm, Gunnar Gren, Nacka Skoglund, Hamrin, Agne Simonsson.

Kurre Hamrin played on the right wing-

- and scored the goal against the West Germans in the semi-final.

This is what I consider to be the most important proof that the match-

- at the '58 World Cup didn't take place in Sweden.

My clearest football memory so far-

- is the '58 World Cup.

A lot of us players were veterans-

Now I know exactly where it is.

So let's go in and mark it out.

I've done extensive research. I stood on opposite ends of the stadium-

- and I measured the angle of the sun every fifteen minutes.

Then I compared the images, hundreds of images, from the games-

- and studied the angle and length of the shadows.

They couldn't have been played here in Sweden.

Down by the northern tropic-

- the shadows must have been shorter, which they were in some places.

And then, if we look at the shadows in Sweden, they were longer.

So I started looking through maps to investigate-

- where this could have taken place.

I started with north Africa - the northern Sahara desert.

It was pretty unlikely that it could have taken place there.

We continue across the Atlantic-

- and we reach the western part of North America.

Then everything clicks-

- including the financial resources that they must have had.

A lot of people thought such a small country couldn't pull off a World Cup.

But it turns out that things went very well.

The biggest event of all was when Liedholm scored 1-0 for Sweden-

- after only a few minutes of play - against Brazil!

We were world champions! Unfor- tunately there were 80 minutes left.

Since then I've experienced many competitions, but that one remains-

- in my mind, as the most important one - in many regards.

Passes back to Liedholm. It's far away, but he holds on to the ball-

- feints to the right flank and passes to B�rjesson, who takes it-

- and passes it to Hamrin who is waiting for the Germans to attack.

They eventually come and Hamrin speeds up. Sch�fer is crowding him.

Why is the German goalkeeper laughing?

The ball is in. There is no reason for him to laugh-

- if it had been for real.

It's to make it as dramatic as possible.

You want to believe dramatic images. Your attention isn't drawn-

- to players standing still or half of the players standing still.

This is maximum drama.

I've read the book, but I haven't had a chance to meet him.

I think it's quite revealing if you read the book-

- and know some of the things that are widely known about him:

I founded Conspiracy '58-

- because I noticed that I wasn't the only one who thought this.

I was the chairman for 14 years, until 1972.

The reason why such an organization can come into existence-

- and that people join-

- is that there is a relatively large group of people-

- in Sweden and in other countries who are fascinated by these ideas.

The '58 World Cup is actually a gigantic hoax-

- staged by the American intelligence community-

- FIFA and the television industry.

It was one stage of the Cold War, which was in full swing at the time-

- and the US needed to test TV's capacity for influencing people.

It's what I call "The media race".

And then the lies started coming at us from all sides.

- Team three in group one: - Czechoslovakia.

When you see it with your own eyes and process it with your brain-

- you think it's true. You want it to be true, it's easy-

- so you believe what the media is showing. But it's not true.

One condition of this debate was that the World Cup couldn't be mentioned.

- Who do you think were behind it? - The '58 World Cup was...

Typical of Bror Jacques to bring that up and make a mockery of it...

The World Cup was one of the biggest events we've had. I remember it.

I saw Hungary/Wales in Sandviken at Jernvallen, the only arena-

- that no longer exists. He might be right there. The rest are still standing.

Early one autumn morning...

I think it was in '83. I see a car disappear from my property-

- and I wonder what it was. When I go down to the stables-

- I find this painted on the barn wall:

KSP 58.

I wonder what is going on.

When I get down to the horses-

- I find one of the horses has also been spray painted-

- on the side with "KSP 58".

In the beginning the organization was more militant-

- and took more action.

Like sending threatening letters to people, for example-

- and even letter bombs.

There were attacks against football fields. Players were followed.

I've gotten the odd letter-

- but I just tossed them out.

There were letters that were supposed to contain bombs. There were calls.

There were policemen in the yard. I couldn't drive my own car.

You'd get a threat via phone or letter saying you didn't have long to live.

I don't want us to talk about where we are, where our offices are, I mean-

- or other board members, other members, none of that.

- What can we talk about? - The web site... the future, that is.

The Internet is the future.

You've seen our web site that we finished last autumn.

It has made it possible for us to reach out-

- to new people in Sweden and in Europe.

There have been new local chapters and our membership has increased-

- quite a lot, let me tell you.

How many members does KSP in Sweden have?

I don't want to say, but since the web site went live a few months ago-

- it has increased by a few hundred percent.

So what is the approximate figure for Sweden?

No comment.

We've gotten over 40 new members in three months.

That's a lot for this organization. It has also contributed to us-

- reaching out to similar organizations all over the world.

Here they show a house that can't have been next to the stadium.

The Brazilians' shoes are wrong, they couldn't have existed back then.

Right now we're helping to start an organization in Brazil.

That's particularly fun. We're making progress.

I know that this exists in Italy too... these kinds of extreme things.

But if they're saying that there was no football World Cup in 1958-

- I can tell them that I experienced it myself-

- so I can't understand why they'd say something like that.

If we were to receive signs a move- ment like this is happening in Brazil-

- I will tell my colleagues what we've done-

- and will try to get them to take equivalent action.

You can imagine how the Brazilians react-

- when you try to take away a gold medal from them.

I think that Olle Adrin had a deeper meaning behind this sculpture.

What he wanted to say was: "This is the truth of the '58 World Cup. "

And here, where it is released after the media has done their job-

- we have the deceitful side of the '58 World Cup-

- namely the non-existence, that it never was.

These statues are rubbish-

- because those who display them want to impress upon us-

- that the people really existed, and that's not always a given.

I'm afraid we'll be making a mistake if we treat it casually-

- and believe that it's a phenomenon that will go away by itself.

I have the impression it's a growing movement trying to prove something-

- that according to us is false, which means you have to go on the attack.

And they will join anyway. There is a silent floating majority-

- that will go along with a lot of nonsense-

- if you don't show them that this is idiotic and even dangerous.

Sweden won unfairly. Brazil punished you.

I can tell you that we were not behind it.

The times were different and we may have needed new influences.

Per L�fstedt is the municipal council chairman and a social democrat.

He has been a member of Conspiracy '58, but left a few years ago.

But he still supports them with money.

It also says something about how an organization such as this-

- can have both open assets and more covert ones.

- hosted the World Cup in Sweden in 1958.

...really confirms that Sweden advanced to the final in 1958-

The way it's put forth is what makes it so convincing.

If you think about this falling into the hands of a new generation-

- who never experienced it and aren't quite sure...

They may be convinced that the 1958 Swedish World Cup never took place.

It's not my job to have opinions on the contents of the books I publish.

It's about viewpoints, freedom of the press-

- and the right to read about other people's opinions.

I was young, but not stupid. I was 21 years old when this event took place.

I think I had a clear idea of what happened - and many others too.

A lot of people saw the World Cup on TV, including myself.

But we know it was a giant hoax.

And then they claim that there was an audience of 50000 people.

That 50000 tickets were sold... But who can prove that?

There are no moving images from the opening ceremonies-

- there is just sound. And you can record sound anywhere.

His Majesty has approved-

- that this year's tournament will be played in Sweden.

I managed to see... I don't remember how many.

Of course some details might have been wrong throughout.

But that all fades away as time passes.

During the years all that is to be archived has been gathered-

- and is stored in the public record office, so it's no longer here.

I've worked there for 25 years and I've looked for things big and small-

- for documents and images from 1958 and I've found nothing.

There are periods... When the football association's offices-

- were located at Skeppsbron there was a lot of stuff there.

A lot was lost when they moved. Or rather: It was put away.

You can't ask that my children testify to the fact that I saw the World Cup.

It might not be in their best interest.

Do you know you were there and saw the games? How can you be sure?

Did I dream it? No, I can't have dreamt it.

I remember talking to Sigge Parling after one match.

We call ourselves "the defenders of '58".

It is a non-partisan organization.

Most of our members are or were active in supporters' clubs.

Or are at least football lovers.

I know they're out there.

It's not the first time. We're what you might call persecuted by a group-

- that's always after us. We talked to the police, they know we're here.

Any publicity is good publicity. They're basically helping us.

We really have two goals:

To stop the organization Conspiracy '58 and to stop de Waern's book.

Some feel that we should ignore these people-

- but we can't. In ten years those who were there will be dead.

Conspiracy '58 grows every day. Someone has to take a stance today.

Soon there will be no one left who can attest to the fact-

- that the World Cup was played in Sweden and that we reached the final.

I don't know how many are still alive of all those who worked there.

But the organizational committee had six more people besides me.

None of them are alive today.

Let those who were there, while we're still alive-

- in one way or another document what happened.

Otherwise the entire debate will be skewed and there may be too many-

- who are convinced that it never happened.

That's the problem with all historic events, even those more important:

When all the witnesses have died, they exist solely as "historic events".

I'll repeat myself: To not treat this as a joke.

This is serious and we have to act in accordance with it.

We will do everything in our power to stop the book. We'll meet again.

Then this thing will kill you.

In the same way that it's killed your honesty. Bloody people!

Some people are disappointed that we didn't win the World Cup final.

That's the way life is sometimes and if there's something you don't like-

- or if things didn't turn out the way you wanted, it's easier to deny it.

Many people shrug at things like this. It's the same people who thought-

- that Nazism would never regain any ground. And look what happened.

It's us, the people who were there, who have the real experience.

And we're going to keep going so that this idiocy is silenced for good.
