hi it's Mike from mik unbx reviews and

how too and on today's video we're going

to be taking a look at the Arctic

freezer 36 A- RGB this is a new cooler

on the market from our friends over at

Arctic and I've actually bought this for

my own money so everything I say in here

uh is my own personal opinions I've not

been asked to say anything and it hasn't

been sent to me for review so don't

worry about that this is all going to be

coming straight from the heart and

straight from my mouth so let's get

straight on with it so unboxing process

this thing is is uh is pretty awesome I

got to be honest with you at the moment

Arctic are having somewhat of an

introductory sale across pretty much all

of their range of their new coolers

including the liquid freezers as well

this at the moment you can pick up in

white from amazon.co.uk for about

£23 yes 23 for this is pretty insane I'm

not too sure how they're doing it or

even why they're doing it but they seem

to be doing it and it seems to be giving

a lot of the other brands which normally

we would kind of go to as those budget

friendly coolers given them a severe run

for their money and straight away I'll

say if you're kind of slightly on the

fence about buying this or maybe you're

looking at something from thermal right

or any of those other budget Brands just

stop looking just go and buy this links

will be in the video description it'd be

very handy if you use the affiliate

links because it does help the channel

but realistically there doesn't need to

be any other coolers on the market now

at this particular price because this

takes pretty much every single box and

ticks it exceptionally well and does an

absolutely crazy job of cooling and

actually Compares very well with a lot

of 240 mil AIO coolers and also some

really large Tower coolers which we

reviewed previously there's one which

I've done very recently which actually

I've used some of the figures to compare

with this just to make sure it is kind

of in the right Ballpark and it smashes

the ball out of the park it does an

exceptionally good job now this has

actually been tested today on our ryzen

7

7700x I've done two different tests on

this one of which with the motherboard

basically just left to do what it wants

everything in Auto and also I've done a

slightly undervolt section with a very

simple curve optimization of a magnitude

of 30 just to bring it down a little bit

and the difference is pretty staggering

but we'll go into that a little bit

later on in the video so let's first of

all take a look at the packaging and see

what we get and see what this is all

about pretty much most people know what

this is all about so essentially this is

a 120 mil Tower cooler that comes

included with not one but two fans both

of which are the P series fans from

Arctic so they are the p12 zero RPM AR

GBS which you can pick up actually on

their own for sum in the region of about

£10 here in the UK so if you take a look

at the value two fans and a coola for

£23 it's pretty insane now the

introductory offer is supposed to end at

some point this year now when exactly we

don't entirely know the estimated retail

price of this after well the kind of the

normal price is somewhere around the £40

Mark at which point I think you do have

to have a little bit of a side step look

at what else was available on the market

at that particular time but at the time

of filming today which is coming towards

the end of March 2024 the price is

exceptionally good so key features on

the front of the box so you've got the

zero DB mode so the fans when they're

under 5% of the RPM value or pwm value

they will stop if you want them to

potentially you might want them to

realistically you don't need to cuz

these things are so quiet it doesn't

make a difference if they're on or off

to be completely honest with you also

comes included with the almost legendary

MX6 thermal compound and also comes with

a 6-year limited warranty which is

pretty much stock for Arctic products

these days now like I said this is the

freezer 36 a RGB there's also a non RGB

versions and it's available both in

black and white to suit whichever builds

you want to do and if you go for the

kind of entry level Black version with

out any RGB you'll be paying

considerably less than2 which I think is

absolutely phenomenal value for money

now being that this is a modern Take On

The friezer Range and you've probably

seen Classics such as the Esports Duo

the 33 34 Etc this actually loses

compatibility with some of those older

sockets so this is for am4 also for am5

and is compatible with LGA 1700 and that

is it essentially for Intel so depending

what happens next it looks like the next

iteration the next socket from Intel

will be the same kind of layout although

it will be a different pinout so this

should remain compatible with that if

not Arctica generally pretty good very

much like noctua so there'll be mounting

kits etc etc but if you're looking at

trying to use this on something else

other than LGA 1700 LJ 1200 or some of

the 115x range not going to work will

not fit so don't even attempt it so

pretty much AMD friendly Intel kind of

not so much so now let's talk about some

of the technical specifications this and

I'll keep it relatively brief so you're

looking at 159 millim tool so it's going

to fit into pretty much most ATX and

Micro ATX cases on the market and

potentially some ITX ones depending on

the layout but that is what you're

looking for a minimum of 159 mm when it

comes to Ram clearance no problems there

very very slim line and yeah tons of

room for Ram when it comes to the RPMs

of the fans so you're looking at 0 to

2,000 RPM give or take and it does have

that zero RPM mode so it won't cause

problems with your system if the fan

stop if you don't want them to again

like I said a couple of times already

you realistically don't need to even at

sort of thousand RPM it's basically

inaudible but if you wanted to have it

so it looks like the fans are stopped

then you possibly can do but again I

don't know what you'd even want to both

of the fans are Daisy chainable so there

is pwm and also addressable RGB passrs

very easy very simple to wire up so

essentially you need one adressable RGB

header on your motherboard and also one

pwm but if you have multiples of them

feel free to wire them all individually

but you can daisy chain them which makes

installation much much easier other

technical specifications so you've got

59 fins on the fin stack you've also got

four heat pipes of which are 6 mm in

diameter in terms of weight if you're

considering putting this in PCS which

potentially you're shipping um globally

or locally whatever it might be or even

just transporting it in your car very

lightweight you're looking at 917 G for

the cooler with the fans installed so it

isn't going to put too much stress on

your CPU sockets so now let's take a

look at some of the mounting equipment

included now there is actually two

separate videos I've done with this as

like a companion video so if you want to

install this on an AMD socket then

there's a video specifically for that

and also there is one for the Intel LGA

1700 so if you want to watch either of

those they'll be linked in the video

description below and I would suggest

you check them out cuz it does go into a

lot more detail then we'll be going over

now so let's take a look first of all at

the Intel setup so when it comes to the

Intel setup they've uh gone a little bit

out on a limb here so they've actually

included a mountain bracket so what we

do is remove the existing ilm from your

Intel motherboard replace it with the

bracket and attach the cuder to the

bracket very simple very straightforward

and appears to work very well I haven't

done anything thermal testing on that as

of yet but I will be doing that in the

coming days or weeks as we put this

potentially into an LGA 1700 setup

although I do feel it does favor am4 and

am5 more because of the size of the

actual base it really does fit very

nicely for those smaller CPUs when it

comes to the AMD side of the fence

you've got pretty much the usual deal

here so there's a couple of gray spacers

you also got two long brackets very easy

to do and you'll notice on the brackets

there's only one hole at the end so you

don't have to worry about the kind of

old am3 mounting whether or not you need

it to line up so very easy to install

and the cooler then attaches to the

brackets very easily it seems to be a

very solid construction also included

for doing these tasks you also get

included as I said earlier the MX6

thermal compound a very small little tub

of that and also you get a Torx key as

well to allow you to remove the

retention modules from the Intel

motherboards something you don't get

which actually is um somewhat saddening

but also actually very helpful for

YouTubers such as myself you don't get

an instruction manual now you do get a

QR code so you can scan the QR code and

go through it but if you don't have a

working PC you're kind of screwed so uh

yeah that is some reason why we do the

installation videos as well but

realistically it's not that complicated

the only real differences are there's

two sets of screws one of which has a

colar the colored ones are for the Intel

socket and the ones with the thread all

the way to the end are the am4 ones or

am5 should that be the case so

installation is an absolute Breeze and

something which they've added to the mix

on this particular revision is the

Snap-on connectors now anyone who's

watched this channel for any length of

time will know that I've been somewhat

of a Loa of the original mainting

methods used by Arctic for the fans with

those spring clips I absolutely detest

and they were horrendous so I'm very

very pleased to see this new mounting

mechanism it's actually really simple

you've got plastic retainers and also

you've got screws in the fans which the

screws just push in and they lock into

place very nicely there's also

rubberized edges around the fan surround

so that will dampen some of it although

because you have a direct physical

connection between that screw and also

the plastic before the rubber gets

involved it is kind of useless really

but certainly it doesn't make any

difference to the noise profile it's

still very very quiet so the fans are

very nice they've done a fantastic job

there and updated it and also what I

like to see as well is just little

touches such as the Arctic logo which is

on the top there which also helps in

actually mounting the system because if

you've got your cooler and it's somewhat

symmetrical you're not entirely sure

which way around it should go where in

this instance because you've got the

Arctic logo on there you can line it up

perfectly and they've actually taken a

little bit of the thin snack away on the

back side as well just to help with the

Acoustics there so you don't have metal

right up against The Fan Hub which is

going to be great for noise profiles as

you'll see in the noise test a little

bit later on so looking at the base

again the Bas is a very compact thing

you've got the four exposed heat pipes

there which do appear to do a very good

job and it's seems to have a pretty flat

surface and in testing seems to have

done a very good job the only slight

thing I would say against this is in the

actual production the finishing of the

heat pipes hasn't quite coated all of

the copper there so if you look at

certain angles you can see a kind of

like a hazy orangy pink color coming

through the white where it hasn't been

fully painted not the end of the world

and certainly if you didn't know to look

for it you probably wouldn't notice it

at all when it comes to the RGB I think

the RGB they've nailed as per usual with

these fans the p12s they look great and

they sound fantastic the outer ring

around the outside edge of the fan

really does help containing some of that

static pressure and also reducing some

of that turbulent noise that the fans

would otherwise

make so we've ticked a lot of boxes

already so it's uh very cheap it's very

quiet it looks very nice and it's very

easy to install so does it actually work

any good so let's take a look at some of

the performance numbers so like I said

I've done two tests this is with my

ryzen

77700 X and I have let the motherboard

take complete control and overvolt the

beesus out of this processor which means

it's going to try and run away to 95°

pretty much instantaneously as soon as

you put an all core load on it but I'm

happy to say running cine bench R23 in

the stock configuration we've got a low

temperature of 35.4 De C and we've got a

highest recorded temperature of 95.1 de

C you'll see from the footage that I've

recorded you see that the cores are all

bouncing around the sort of 5.1 Mark as

an all core load and we've got a score

of

19,25 55 points so that's not too bad at

all and again it was absolutely silent

pretty much the fans don't get very loud

at all looking at the Cen R23 with a

slight curve optimization there this

tells a slightly different story so the

idol temperature actually not much

difference at all about 1 degree in it

so we're looking at 34.3 De C the

highest recorded temperature 91.3 de C

and we've increased the score by almost

bang on 1,000 points so we've now scored

20, 208 points and you'll notice again

from some of the footage recorded

earlier when it's actually doing this

it's now at 5.3 GHz on all cores which

is a significant upgrade of 200 MHz now

when it comes to the actual noise

profile again I've said this this thing

is it is super quiet it really is that

is part of the reason actually why it's

running on the desk with me now

generally when I tends to do these

reviews because I don't like extra fan

noises coming through on the microphone

this is so quiet it makes no difference

and this is really unusual for an am5

setup or even modern Intel setup because

the fans generally ramp up and down all

the time and it just drives you mad but

this it just seems absolutely brilliant

so I've recorded some footage earlier

and you can listen to those

now okay so time for some fan noise

tests I'm just to the side of the camera

the camera is approximately 12 in or 30

cm away from the fan here and this is on

open test bed you may find if you turn

up your volume that you will hear other

things in the background which are

significantly louder such as the wind

haing through our chimley the wood

burner creaking and various other things

so so this is currently set at 25% RPM

and is approximately 500

RPM I've now just clicked it up to to

50% and hopefully you'll see a slight

increase of rotational speed you won't

hear any difference in

sound so this is 50% approximately 1,000

RPM

now at 3/4 of the speed so500 RPM and

now the fan is definitely

audible but not

intrusive we're now ramping up to full

speed which will be approximately 2,000

RPM

we're now going back into smart mode and

the fan speed is

decreasing

yep it is essentially pretty much silent

in general

use so there you go I think you all

agree this thing is uh is absolutely

awesome for the

price definitely there's nothing else

which touches it as far as I'm concerned

on the market at the moment in terms of

it ticking all those boxes easy to

install tons of compatibility with your

RAM clearances all that kind of stuff

the RGB looks great the whole thing is

just a really really nice cohesive

package and at round about20 or 23 if

you go for the addressable RGB version

in white like we've got here it's

basically impossible to beat this it

really is there are some other coolers

on the market which do a pretty good job

such as some of the thermal rights but

they don't come anywhere close to the

ease of installation and also the levels

of quietness this thing is absolutely

great it really is and I think most of

it is attributed to those P2 fans they

really do a great job but the fact

they've managed to get this price down

to an absolute all-time low really makes

this a cooler to beat it really does so

as you can probably guess I'm very

pleased with it indeed and uh I'm very

intrigued to see what they come out with

next because if they're heading in this

direction and bringing those prices

right down to a bare minimum I think

they've got a very good future ahead of

them but what I think doesn't matter
