Prisoners of the Sun - Part 1

[tintin] it all started when

seven archeologists discovered an ancient peruvian mummy,

and unknowing unleashed a mysterious curse.

the divine curse will follow them

wherever they go.

[radio announcer] and following this mysterious story,

yet another member of the sanders-hardiman expedition

has been found in a coma.

fragments of broken crystal balls

that must have contained

some sort of sleeping potion.

then these are deliberate attacks.

the vengeance of the inca

will strike me down.

mr. Tarragon.

mr. Tarragon.

too late.

the crystal balls have claimed

their last victim.

[tintin] however, the mystery

was about to take a turn.

rascar capac's jewels have disappeared.

hello, what have we here?

that's rascar capac's bracelet.

how on earth did it come to be here?

calculus's umbrella.

[captain] calculus!

calculus!

the kidnapping of professor calculus

is believed to be connected with the mysterious case

of the sanders-hardiman expedition.

the kidnappers have been spotted.

they stopped for gas at a garage near saint nazaire.

that's a port. exactly.

[foghorn blows]

[tintin] it all fits together.

calculus is aboard the pachacamac.

we're off to peru.

[tintin] we'll get in touch with

the police there at once.

and as soon as the ship arrives,

we'll have the kidnappers arrested.

[church bell rings]

just think.

tomorrow we'll see old cuthbert again.

hmm, yes.

why so glum?

things are looking up.

i guess so.

but i can't help feeling we're being watched.

ah, enjoy yourself.

look around you.

amazing! look at that! [barks]

[groans]

[whimpers]

[captain] look, a lama.

[goo-goo noises]

be careful, senior.

why? such a nice lama.

gitchy-gitchy-gitchy. [spits]

thundering typhoons!

[laughs] [laughs]

[growls]

[laughter] come on, captain.

it's time to head back to the hotel.

when lama angry, senior,

he always do that.

filthy animal!

blistering barnacle of a brute!

those things shouldn't be allowed.

there's the inspector and---

[both] huh?

[tintin] thompson and thomson?

interpol has sent us

to back up the inspector

on this delicate mission.

precisely.

and where's the pachacamac?

out there.

uh, beside the little tug.

with the red funnel.

let's have a look at this.

ah, there she is.

thundering typhoons!

infectious disease onboard.

it will be impossible to search the ship

until the port health authorities have cleared her.

hmmm.

another convenient coincidence.

those doctors are taking forever.

i say, captain.

just what is this guano stuff?

guano?

eh, i mean...

how shall i put it?

i...

[splattering]

well, there's a free sample of it.

[laughter] [splatter]

[laughter] [laughter]

captain, look.

a new flag.

quarantined.

we won't be able to board her for days.

maybe weeks.

you can't do this, tintin.

it might be cholera.

the plague, yellow fever.

i think they know we're onto them.

and i'll bet every man on that ship,

is as healthy as you and me.

well, what about the sharks then?

nuts to the sharks.

okay, stop. this is close enough.

be a good boy, snowy. [snowy whimpers]

good luck, lad.

[speaking spanish]

[meows]

[spanish continues]

[meows]

whew!

he's going back to his cabin.

[muttering]

excuse me,

a little further to the west.

to the west.

professor calculus.

professor, wake up.

professor!

[snores]

the mummy's bracelet.

ah!

[gun cocking]

si, the bracelet of rascar capac.

what do you want with poor calculus?

your friend has donned

the sacred bracelet of the incas.

that is sacrilege.

the punishment for that is death.

alonzo!

no!

ah!

hey! oof!

you there, stop!

hey! oof!

[chiquito] little devil.

you'll pay for this.

[gunshots]

iconoclasts!

pirates!

guano gatherers! [barking]

murderers!

whoa!

[barking]

let's get out of here.

professor calculus's life

is in danger, captain.

we've got to get help.

you alert the police.

i'll stay here and watch the ship.

ah, whew!

at last.

come on! come on!

[phone ringing]

si.

[captain] thundering typhoons,

get me the chief inspector!

[police officer] he's asleep, senior. then wake him!

this is urgent! [phone hangs up, dial tone]

blistering blundered... he hung up.

uh-oh.

somebody's coming ashore.

[ringing] blue blistering barnacles,

i can't stand here all night.

[ringing] are you going to answer it?

certainly not, i'm asleep.

you can't be asleep,

you're talking to me.

you know very well

that i talk in my sleep.

lazy bones!

next time it's your turn.

thomson!

and in no time, too.

great snakes!

they're carrying somebody ashore.

it's got to be the professor.

[snowy whining]

[captain] tintin! [thomson] tintin!

[captain] tintin! [thompson] tintin!

[calling continues]

no use shouting ourselves hoarse.

tintin's gone.

let's try to pick up his tracks.

it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.

to be precise, we look like needles in a--

ah ha!

isn't this the professor's pendulum?

without a shadow of a lout.

uh, uh, shadow of a doubt.

[captain] hey!

over here!

look at these footprints.

several men with lamas.

question is which way did they go?

i know.

nothing's simpler.

cuthbert's pendulum?

spot on.

and this wee utensil

is going to lead us directly

to its owner.

now the thing is a question of

having the right touch.

see? the pendulum is pointing south.

and south we must go.

if you don't mind,

i'm heading north.

suit yourself.

i better go and investigate.

that is to say

we better go and investigate.

and keep your eyes open.

never you mind,

they're open.

to be precise, they-- [both] ah!

excuse me, son.

have you seen a young lad

with a little white dog?

yes, indeed.

and i know him well.

tintin.

[barking]

snowy.

what about cuthbert?

we haven't got a moment to lose.

i overheard the kidnappers say

they were heading for jauga.

if we hurry,

we just might catch up to them by train.

[breathing heavily]

[chatter]

what a mob.

this train's going to be crammed.

[chatter]

[whistle blows]

[engine steams]

have a good trip, seniors.

[whistle blows]

ow!

thundering typhoons!

that's odd, there's not another soul

in this carriage.

we're alone.

strange.

we must be pretty high up.

we've been climbing steadily for hours.

hmmm.

hello, we're slowing down.

we must be coming to a station.

[couplers break]

what?

oh, no!

captain, our section has been unhooked.

what?

blistering barnacles!

quick! jump!

jump? yeow!

oof!

yeow!

snowy!

snowy, come on!

[whining]

we're going too fast.

a river.

this is our only chance, snowy.

[howls]

[panting]

snowy!

oh, good boy!

[crashing sounds]

we can thank our lucky stars

we got out of that.

i wonder what's become of the captain.

i wonder what's become of tintin.

[bell ringing]

hey! stop!

arrรชtez!

whoa!

thanks goodness you're safe.

such an unfortunate accident.

that was no accident.

we must get to jauga as fast as possible.

well, not much hope from the police chief.

he seemed to be afraid to even talk to us.

let's split up and question

some of the locals.

[captain] right.

his name is calculus.

a short man.

with a little beard.

wearing glasses.

no se.

bullying a child like that?

why you...

go for it, pedro.

[growling] yeow!

[both] ah!

well, i'm no further ahead.

[kid] psst, senior.

pretend to tie your shoelace.

i know where you can find

the man you're looking for.

it is dangerous for me to be here.

i just hope it is not a trap.

you listen, senior.

i see you help indian boy.

you are brave.

but you not go in search of your friend.

it's too late for him.

but i'll tell you i would never abandon a friend.

that is foolish.

but take this.

it may save your life.

so where is this guide of yours?

[man] psst. Psst.

it's the little orange seller.

so it was you.

don't make noise.

zorrino, senior.

well, zorrino, you can tell me now.

he is taken to the inca.

the inca?

i thought the last of the incas

died 400 years ago.

many things you not know.

captain!

[barking]

what have you found, snowy?

[moaning]

[moaning] cut the cackle

and get me out of this before i go crazy.

billions of blue blistering barnacles.

this miserable reptile

has spent the night waltzing along my spine.

[snaps] oops.

[barking]

[lamas braying]

they'll pass directly below us.

if we take a shortcut down the cliff,

we can surprise them.

snowy, stay here.

more likely, we'll break our necks. [snowy growls]

[lamas braying]

better find another way, captain.

this is very steep.

[captain] whoa!

[coughing]

blistering typhoons.

don't move.

without these cushion-footed ruminants?

oh, no, senior.
