Flight 714 - Part 2

[Tintin] It all started

when Captain Haddock, Professor Calculus, and I

were on our way to a scientific convention

in Australia

and were introduced to a most unusual man.

The Millionaire Laszlo Carreidas.

So you're all going to Sydney, are you?

Yes, we're just waiting for our plane.

No need to wait any longer.

You're coming with me.

Sir, we've run into unexpected trouble.

We'd better call off the mission.

[Rastapopoulos] Idiot, it's too late!

We go as planned.

My friends are coming with us as guests of Mr. Carreidas.

Welcome aboard, everyone.

[Tintin] But our welcome was short lived.

Hands up, all of you.

Aah! That's it, young man. Get his gun!

Nice try. Now, get with the others.

Good work, Spalding.

I think they prepare to land.

There is an island.

Rastapopoulos!

In person, dear boy.

Why have you brought us here?

All I want is Mr. Carreidas' money.

You see, the doctor has invented a serum

that makes people tell the truth,

whether they want to or not.

He's showing resistance, boss.

You won't get one word out of me.

I want that account number.

Don't yell. [sobbing]

Idiot, this is all your fault.

But, Boss, I can explain.

Ow!

You stuck me with a needle!

Help! The boss is--

Help me. The boss has gone crazy.

[sobbing]

Here. Stop that.

Blistering barnacles, you're unbearable.

And with our companions under control,

we headed off to rescue our friends.

Hey! Get back here!

[muffled grunting]

Captain, quiet!

Tell that to these two. The serum hasn't worn off yet.

All right, cut it out!

[muffled grunting]

Ow!

Why, you--

Captain, no. He's delirious.

He doesn't know what he's doing.

Huh?

Blistering barnacles.

[muffled grunting]

[Tintin] Let's get moving.

We can't wait for the serum to wear off.

We've got to find the others before--

Yikes!

Get down!

Hey. Get down.

[rapid gunfire continuing]

[Haddock] Rastapopoulos.

You'd better go after him. I'll hold down the fort.

Get back here.

Blistering barnacles. Confound everything.

- He got away. - That's okay.

Just get Carreidas and the doctor out of here.

- But... - I'll catch up with you on the mountain.

C'mon.

Huh?

Hey, Boss. Over here.

You've escaped.

[muffled yelling]

[screams]

- Sorry, boss, l... - Never mind.

Just get me Carreidas!

Give it up, wonder boy! You're out-gunned!

Hey, I'm talking to you!

They must've made a run for it.

What are you waiting for? After them!

l want Carreidas alive.

All right, boys, let's go.

Captain?

Try and pick up their scent, Snowy.

[barks]

What? What's happening?

Who's that? Who's there?

What?

"Fifty meters west"?

[Rastapopoulos] Try the clearing!

[Tintin] C'mon, Snowy.

[Haddock] Don't forget that Rastapopoulos

planned to kill you.

Don't worry. l want to get off here as much as you do.

Good. Then you take care of Carreidas.

I'll look for Tintin.

He'll never find us in here--

[Snowy barking]

Grab Carreidas and follow me.

How in blazes did he...

- C'mon! - But where are you taking us?

Higher up. Look for a flat stone.

- [Krollspell] What? - [Haddock] Tintin.

Tintin!

[Tintin] Bingo.

How did you know there was--

Quick. Into the cave.

Aah!

But l hate caves, Tintin!

- Captain! - [gunfire]

[screams]

Tintin.

You're trapped. Come out or I'll--

I'll blow you out.

All right, you asked for it.

One...

Two...

Three-- What am l doing?

The boss wants Carreidas alive.

[grenade explodes]

Arr!

Idiot!

Uh-oh.

[Tintin] It's the strangest thing, Captain.

You're hearing what?

A voice in my head. It's telling me what to do.

That's crazy.

Maybe. But this voice

hasn't steered me wrong yet.

- Look. - Wow.

[barking]

I'm sorry, boss.

Never mind me. Where are my prisoners?

They're in the cave.

Well, go in and get them!

You heard the boss.

What are you waiting for? Get in there.

You and your voices. Now we're trapped.

[Man] Quick. This way.

"The right eye of the statue"?

Press the right eye?

An underground passage.

Hurry!

Huh?

- It's a dead end. - What's that?

Hey, this belongs to Carreidas.

Idiot!

There must be a passage behind this.

Go get the dynamite!

You heard him. Get the dynamite!

How did you know to press the eye of that statue?

The voice told me.

Voices. Voices! Have you completely--

Huh? Who's that?

Y-Yes, sir.

I'll be quiet, sir.

Tintin, wait for me!

Professor?

Most irregular.

Professor Calculus?

Professor, I thought you were back at the camp.

What are you doing here?

Oh, hello, Tintin. Doom is near, you say?

l hope not.

My pendulum is behaving rather oddly.

I'll have to ask our host.

- Host? - Ghost?

No, he's quite real. See for yourself.

What?

Good evening, gentlemen.

My name is Mike Kanrokitoff.

You're the voice in my head.

Da. This thought transmitter

allows for telepathic communication.

That's quite some invention you came up with.

l can't take the credit.

The thought transmitter was invented by those from the other world.

What other world?

I'm acting as link between earth

and those on an extra-terrestrial planet.

"Aliens," I believe you are calling them.

Aliens?

Oh, come on. You expect us to believe that?

See there? Proof is on the wall.

That was painted over 1,000 years ago.

That looks like a spaceship.

[Carreidas] Say, where's my hat?

What's the matter?

The serum has worn off.

I thought he'd be okay, but he's gone crazy.

You'll pay for what you've done, all of you,

and I want my hat.

Where is my hat?

Go and look for it now, at once!

[whirring]

You're under my control.

Be quiet and do as you are told.

Okay.

Here is your hat. Put it on and be quiet.

Oh, thank you.

l always catch cold when my head's uncovered.

Wonderful day, isn't it?

Hey, where's your manners?

l just lifted my hat to you.

You saw a cat? Really?

Upstart.

[screams]

[Carreidas] Hey, stop. Help!

Help.

Professor.

Get a hold of yourself.

No, it was him.

He started it.

Mr. Kanrokitoff...

You are wanting to know about your friends. Yes?

[Tintin] Gino, Skut.

You're safe.

[rumbling]

Relax. It's only a tremor.

These south-seas islands are famous for them.

Is true, but it's not an ordinary island.

This temple is built in center of volcano.

One more tremor and it may erupt.

[laughing]

Is the volcano erupting?

That was not a volcano.

It was explosion set off by gangsters.

Thundering typhoons!

[Kanrokitoff] I'm sensing great danger.

Very close.

There.

We've got them now.

Huh?

[screaming]

What's happening?

Hurry. We must get to the crater.

But if the volcano is erupting...

But that is where we... [sniffs]

The smoke is poison, hold handkerchief over mouth.

Clear out!

Hey, l give the orders.

[men scream]

Clear out!

Good heavens, it's dripping on my head.

Huh?

My hat? Where's my hat?

Hey! Get back here!

l need my hat!

Yikes!

Gangway!

[Haddock screaming]

- Captain! - Eeh-yaa!

C'mon, Captain.

- That's it. - Whoa.

Captain! Here, Captain.

Gotcha.

Let's go.

Stay together. We are almost there.

Hm. Most irregular.

What's this?

Oh. Fascinating.

Look, everyone.

Hello. Hello.

[coughing]

Whole island's going to blow.

Run for your lives!

To the dinghy.

Hey. Wait for me!

[coughing]

You must be crazy,

leading us to the crater of a volcano that's ready to blow.

It's where Astroship is coming.

You are crazy.

Captain, have you seen the Professor?

Yeah, he was...

right behind us.

He's still inside.

You can't go back there.

Tintin! Tintin!

[coughing]

Professor Calculus!

Captain!

- Will he be okay, Doctor? - He should be.

[Snowy coos]

[object whooshes]

[whirring]

Repeat. We require immediate evacuation.

- Any luck? - They're coming.

l don't believe what I'm seeing.

[all screaming]

Quick. Climb the ladder.

- [barking] - C'mon, Snowy.

All aboard, Chief Pilot.

Wow. This is incredible.

Blistering barnacles.

[sniffing]

This is amazing.

Hm. Fantastic.

Huh?

- No one would ever believe this. - That's correct.

No one will believe your story

because you'll never tell it.

- What? Of course we will. - Nyet.

Your hosts believe many on earth

are not ready to be learning of other worlds.

What are you going to do?

You'll not be harmed, simple mass hypnosis is all.

Mass hypnosis is impossible.

Besides, that sort of nonsense would never affect us.

[whirring]

Affect us, affect us...

You will be forgetting everything about this island.

[together] Forget...

The last thing you'll remember is flying

in Mr. Carreidas' jet.

Carreidas' jet.

Captain Skut. The flight is uneventful.

Uneventful.

Mr. Carreidas,

you play a game of Battleships

with Captain Haddock.

Battleships.

You're cheating, naturally.

Naturally.

From now on, your memories are a complete blank.

Do you understand?

I'm telling ya, it's a flying saucer.

l don't care what it is. Just shoot it down.

[bullets pinging]

Keep firing!

Yes, sir. Yes, sir.

Now, Tintin, you and your comrades, please board the lifeboat.

Come back, Dr. Krollspell.

We have special plans for you.

Plane is crashing.

Sleep now... sleep now...

[Man on radio] Victor Hotel Bravo to Macassar tower.

We're over it.

- [Man #2] Can you see the island? - What's left of it.

- Did you get it? - Sure did. What a sight.

Huh?

Macassar Tower.

We've got some folks in a lifeboat down there.

Well, I'll be.

[Snowy barking]

Huh?

Where are we?

You don't know how you got

over 300 miles off your flight course?

No.

And the rest of the crew?

[all at once] - Well, I can't remember. - Not a clue.

[Man] As reported, Dr. Krollspell,

the former Head of the New Delhi Psychiatric Clinic,

was found wandering somewhere in India

suffering from a severe case of amnesia.

In a story that may be related,

all the survivors of the Carreidas jet crash

are also afflicted with amnesia.

Colin Chattamore is at the Jakarta airport

with that story. Colin?

I'm with the well-known reporter Tintin,

who was among the survivors of the crash.

Tintin, tell us. What happened out there?

There was nothing unusual about the flight,

but everything after the takeoff is a complete blank.

So you have no clue as to how you ended up near that erupting volcano?

Only one. I'll let Professor Calculus tell you about it.

It has to do with this bolt I discovered in my pocket

after our rescue.

I've completed my tests on it,

and they all point to the same thing.

This metal was not made on earth.

We just don't have the technology.

There you have it, folks.

Odd coincidence or were aliens involved?

Who can ever tell us what really happened?

[barking]

[whimpers, groans]
