[train roaring]
[suspenseful curtain music]
[music stops]
[soft curtain music]
[soft incidental music]
(Tintin, off) It all started when I bought a beautiful model
of an antique ship.
Wow!
How much is that ship?
Sorry, sir. I just sold it.
How much for the ship?
(man 1) I'll raise it to 60!
70!
(Tintin, off) All that attention
over a little ship
didn't make sense
until Snowy accidentally broke it.
A parchment with what appeared to be a coded message
had fallen out of the ship.
I didn't know what to make of it.
So I went to see Captain Haddock.
Take a closer look at this ship.
(Tintin) It's just like the model!
(Tintin, off) Captain Haddock told me the story
of his great ancestor Sir Francis Haddock
who sailed His Majesty's ship
the Unicorn.
[suspenseful music]
The Unicorn was attacked by pirates
and after a valiant struggle
were forced to surrender their ship
to the most feared of all pirates.
I am Red Rackham.
And I'm Sir Francis Haddock.
(Tintin, off) While Red Rackham gloated over the stolen treasure
Sir Francis realized he was the only person
who could stop the reign of terror
that cost the lives of so many.
He had intended to sink the Unicorn,
but Red Rackham forced a final confrontation.
Prepare to die, Sir Francis.
[suspenseful music]
[swords swooshing and clanking]
(man) Ugh!
[sizzling]
May heaven forgive your wicked soul.
(Tintin, off) With only seconds to spare
before the powder keg exploded,
Sir Francis made his final escape to a deserted island.
[explosion]
He watched as the Unicorn
and Red Rackham's treasure sank to a watery grave.
Years later, he left a clue to Red Rackham's treasure
hidden in three identical models of the Unicorn.
That's it! This parchment is a clue
to the location of Red's treasure!
[door creaking]
(Tintin, off) We began our search
for the other two parchments
and soon realized we were not alone.
Two brothers, Max and Gustav Bird,
had the other parchments
and would stop at nothing to get mine.
Escape seemed impossible,
but as usual, when things were at their darkest--
Snowy!
[barking]
Ugh!
[punch]
(Tintin, off) Following the arrest of the Bird brothers
we were finally able to recover the missing parchments
"For tis from the light that light will dawn."
(Haddock) It's latitude and longitude!
Ten thousand typhoons!
It's where the Unicorn sank!
This means we're gonna be rich!
[incidental music]
[walla]
Ahoy, Bill!
Morning, George.
I hear you just signed on with Captain Haddock's crew.
Yeah, we're sailing for the south seas with Tintin.
Oh, the reporter
who caught the Bird brothers.
This time he's after Red Rackham's treasure.
The pirate Red Rackham?
[chuckling] I thought that was just an old sea tale.
[whispering] I'll tell you the rest later.
[suspenseful music]
(Tintin) Listen to this, Captain.
"Although more than likely just an old sea tale,
"sources say the treasure hunt is full speed ahead.
Tintin and Captain Haddock could not be reached for comment."
Comment? I'll give them comments.
Parasitic snoops.
Headline heathens! Word hungry mongers!
[knocking]
(Haddock) Yes?
Good day, I'd like to speak to Mr. Tintin, please.
I'll get him. Hang on.
He's gone? Oh, dear.
[sighs] Maybe another time.
(Tintin) Wait. Can I help you?
Mr. Tintin. How do you do?
My name is Professor Calculus.
Cuthbert Calculus.
I understand you're off for a treasure hunt soon.
So?
Have you considered the sharks?
(both) Sharks?
They're very dangerous creatures, you know.
That's why I invented an anti shark submissible.
I'm sorry, Mr. Calculus. I don't have the time for this.
Yes, tomorrow is fine.
No, sir. I'm sorry.
[raising voice] The answer is no!
Right now? Of course, let's go.
[playful music]
I'm so glad you agreed to come, gentlemen.
(Tintin) This is amazing!
This way, please.
[loud engine]
Ah! What the--
Hm. [engine stops]
It's a clothes brushing machine.
Voila.
[gasping]
[playful music]
[growling]
(Haddock) A shark submarine?
(Calculus) My shark-proof submarine
is an exploring machine, gentlemen.
Let me explain.
It can dive up to 900 feet,
it travels at the speed of up to 6 knots
and has a two-hour oxygen supply.
I'll show you how it works.
[clanking] Oh!
[crash]
Oh, dear.
I'm sorry, professor, but your machine won't do.
For two? A two seater?
(Tintin) No! It won't do! Goodbye!
Bye, I'll see you tomorrow.
Okay, men!
Get ready!
Hi, Captain.
Morning, landlubber!
[whistling]
Yoohoo!
Oh, no!
Calculus!
Hello, gentlemen.
I'm ready to demonstrate.
I'll take care of this.
(Calculus) Now, I still have to assemble it, of course.
[playful music]
Got it?
Now what?
(man) Hello, Tintin.
(both) Reporting for duty, sir.
Detectives?
(both) Sh.
Don't say "detective."
We've gone undercover.
(Thomson) The Bird brothers have escaped.
We've been assigned to keep an eye on things.
Fine. On down below! Then report to the bridge!
(both) Yes, sir.
Prepare to raise anchor!
[bell ringing]
Run the flag! Secure latchings!
[barking]
[metallic clanking]
[engine roaring]
[whistling]
[horn honking]
[whistling]
[horn honking]
[soft curtain music]
[seagulls]
Captain, someone is stealing food!
A thief in our midst?
Why the glutton,
gourmand greedy piglet!
(Tintin) Captain, what's wrong?
Someone's stealing food.
Hm. Snowy?
Don't be so quick to accuse anyone
unless you have proof.
Snowy!
Here, boy!
(both) Snowy.
(Tintin) Snowy!
[man shouting]
Captain!
Help!
Captain!
It's a, a, a bomb!
[ticking]
[suspenseful music]
Be, be, be careful.
[ticking]
[intense suspenseful music]
[loud alarm]
[shouting]
(Tintin) This isn't a bomb, Captain.
(Haddock) It's not?
Then what is it?
And what's it doing in my hold?
Look at this.
(Haddock) Wait till I get my hands on him.
I'll tweak his cheeks to rubber!
Oops! [thump]
[sniff]
[suspenseful music]
[snoring]
(both) Calculus!
[moaning]
Ah. Good morning, gentlemen.
Oh, thank you for waking me.
I was hoping you could give me a cabin.
I slept rather badly last night.
A cabin?
I ought to throw you overboard! You hear me?
A view of the sea! Delightful!
[grunting]
[suspenseful music]
(Thomson) I don't see anything.
Are you sure your calculations are correct, Captain?
Of course they're correct, numb head!
Of course they are!
Even in this fog!
Quite.
(Calculus) Captain.
[annoyed] What do you want?
(Calculus) According to my pendulum,
we should be further West.
Look!
(Tintin) The island!
That must be Sir Francis Haddock's island!
[suspenseful music]
[lively music and seagulls]
(Haddock) Come on! Let's look around.
[thump and shouting]
[groaning]
Look!
(Haddock) What was that?
Goodness! Have you found something?
It's Sir Francis' boat!
We're on the right track.
[various jungle noises]
[squawking]
[barking]
[roaring water]
[suspenseful music]
[barking and howling]
Snowy!
[barking]
[growling]
[gasping] What's that?
[ominous music]
Why, it looks like Sir Francis!
(Haddock) Thundering typhoons!
You're right!
[high pitched voice] Nincompoops!
Huh?
Popinjays! Braggarts!
(both) A g, g, g, ghost!
[squawking]
Look! There's your ghost, detectives.
[squawking and chuckling]
[chuckling] Sir Francis
must've taught their ancestors how to talk!
What a blistering barnacles!
Blistering barnacles! Blistering barnacles! Blistering barnacles!
[all laugh]
[squawking]
[lively music]
Well, that was a waste of time.
How do we know the treasure isn't buried somewhere on the island?
Because Sir Francis would've brought it back with him
when he was rescued.
No. The treasure must be in the wreck of the Unicorn,
somewhere on the ocean floor.
I hope so.
[suspenseful music]
[roaring]
[shouting]
(Haddock) Ten thousand thundering typhoons!
He almost bit my hand off!
[suspenseful music]
Look! They're all around!
[cocking rifle] This'll teach them not to attack innocent hands!
[gunshot and clank]
[loud noise]
(all) Calculus!
[playful music]
Oh. Hello!
(Tintin) I'm ready!
Now remember.
The clock shows oxygen supply
and the red button is a smoke flare.
For when you find the Unicorn.
Okay, Captain. Lower me down.
[rattling]
[suspenseful music]
[splash]
[engine starting]
[gasping]
(Tintin) Oh! The Unicorn!
Yahoo!
[suspenseful music]
[alarm]
Uh-oh.
We'd better surface.
[alarm sounding]
It's Tintin! He's surfaced!
Tintin's in Strasbourg?
How is that possible?
I found it! The Unicorn!
[clank]
[suspenseful music]
[click]
Start pumping!
[pumping air]
[whining]
[howling]
[bubbly sound]
[suspenseful music]
[pumped air] Huh? My air stopped!
Something's wrong!
He's tugging on the line.
Thundering typhoons! Why aren't you pumping?
We're taking a rest.
I'll give you a rest! Man that pump! Now!
Faster!
[pumped air] Phew! That's better.
[suspenseful curtain music]
[bell ringing, Snowy barking]
He's found something!
Wow!
[bell ringing]
A casket!
This has got to be the treasure!
[thump]
[crash]
[roaring]
[intense suspenseful music]
[roaring]
[shouting] Ah!
[thump]
[roaring]
[roaring]
He swallowed the whole bottle. [chuckling]
That must've been some rum.
[loud thump]
[bell ringing, Snowy barking]
Quick! That's the signal to pull Tintin up.
Blistering blue barnacles!
(Haddock) He sent up a shark!
[suspenseful music]
[rattling]
Well?
[music stops]
They're just old documents.
[disappointed] Aw.
May I take a look?
(Tintin) Don't lose heart, Captain,
we'll keep searching.
[suspenseful curtain music]
[panting and grunting]
[bubbly sound]
(Tintin) Come on, Captain,
it hasn't been a total loss.
After all, we found some fine artifacts.
(Calculus) I'm glad to see we're finally headed West.
"Treasure hunt ends in failure."
[knocking]
Good morning, Tintin.
Hi, Professor.
I'm returning the documents.
(Tintin) Documents? What documents?
Oh, I'm fine, thank you.
But surely you remember
the documents you found in the Unicorn.
I thought this one would interest you.
It seems that Marlinspike Hall
is Captain Haddock's family estate.
That's it! Professor, you're a genius!
[Tintin, laughing]
Don't you see, Captain?
No.
The treasure must be at Marlinspike Hall!
The treasure? At Marlinspike Hall?
Oh, no!
Marlinspike's up for sale.
Oh, dear.
Captain, you must buy it immediately.
(Haddock) Uh--
What's wrong?
[ominous music]
Don't worry about money.
The government bought my anti shark submarine
for quite a tidy sum.
And since you let me test it,
I'll buy Marlinspike for you.
[curtain music, lively]
Wow! [echoing]
This way, Captain.
It might be in here.
(Haddock) It's full of junk!
Where do we start looking?
[clanking]
[suspenseful music]
[sniffing]
[knocking]
Three brothers joined,
and shine forth,
the eagle's cross--
Captain!
The cross!
The eagle!
(Tintin) Look!
Sir Francis' island!
[rattling and clanking]
(both) Wow!
[triumphant music]
(both) Red Rackham's treasure!
[growling]
[footsteps]
Sh. Someone's coming.
[suspenseful music]
[footsteps]
(both) Calculus!
[startled]
[barking]
Ah, Mr. Tintin, I'm glad you're here.
I finally located the treasure.
[laughing]
[playful music]
[birds chirping]
(Tintin) An impressive display, Captain.
(Calculus) Yes. Just as I always said,
more to the West!
[laughing heartily] All's well that ends well.
Aye, Professor?
No, thank you, Never between meals.
No! No!
[shouting] I said, "All's well that end's well!"
Without any doubt.
Which reminds me of that old saying,
"All's well that end's well!"
Wouldn't you agree, Captain?
Without any doubt.
[laughing]
[incidental music]
[suspenseful curtain music]
