"is this a source

I look for is date,
time and location.

Second one is testimony
from the person

who had the first account
in social media coverage

or any type
of local media coverage

on the same day
of the sighting.

Well, let me tell you
what we're going
to do here today.

We have some of the details
of your UFO experience.

And we want to really hear
the story directly

from you to make sure
we haven't missed any details

or anything
that's personally important.

My name is John Leavitt.

Most of the things in my life,
I can explain

This is one of the things
that I can't.

I live in Portland, Maine.

Maine's a pretty quiet place,

and we like
to keep it that way.

I'm a normal dude.

You know, I like hiking.

I like working out.

I like hanging out
with my friends.

I love my wife
more than anything
in the world.

UFOs are not something
that I'm into.

It was like
October 30th, 2013.

It was uh, a really

unusual October day.

It was a warm day.
It was like 80°.

And uh, my friends and I
decided to go camping

off the coast
of Cape Elizabeth, Maine,

to an island
called Richmond Island.

It was a great day.
We had a lot of fun.

We got food and sandwiches
and we went swimming.

We were all having
just a great time,

and day kind of
turned into night.

So a bunch of us
all just went for a walk
around the island.

On that particular island,

during the summer,
there is a caretaker house.

We just walked up
to it to check it out

because no one was there.

We were just
kind of hanging out,

kicking it by the porch
and talking,

and one of us noticed
a light in the sky.

We all just kept talking

and just kind of
brushed it off.

But then it kept
coming closer to us.

And it kept getting bigger.

And pardon my language,

but we were all like,
"What the [bleep] is this?"

It just kind of
hovered above us.

It was probably
15, 20 feet away from us,

and it was like a giant light.

And you couldn't see
the shape of it
at this point or anything.

It was just a giant light.

So we started
to walk off and...

just like that,
the light just went away.

It just kind of like,
slowly went off.

So we're a little shooken up,

but you know,
us gentlemen kept talking

and our bravado
got the best of us.

And we're like, well, yeah,
if that craft landed,

we would have, you know,
shown them our--

We thought it was over,
you know,

and we just thought this
was going to be a great story

to tell our grandkids
or whatever.

But it wasn't over.

And this is the truly
terrifying part.

It came back.

And it kind of
didn't gradually come back.

It just came back.
And the light was on us.

We're all jumping
on the ground, terrified.

And I look up

and all I see
is just this huge light.

I could feel
some type of just, energy.

I'm the type of guy
that doesn't really back down.

But this presence,
it was an energy and power

that I felt and saw

that was different
than I've ever seen before.

When I looked up at it,

it kind of almost
metamorphosized

into like a, a--
almost like a fighter jet

Like a, like a--
an arrow sphere,
you know?

And then that's when
it just took off.

The fastest thing
I've ever seen in my life.

I mean, it was gone
in a second, out of sight.

It was definitely terrifying.

I think if I had been alone,

I don't-- I don't know
if I would have ever

brought the story up,

but the fact that, like,

my good friends,
who I know to be

very credible,

very honest
and capable human beings,

you know,
saw the same thing too.

I think it would
be really great
to understand what I saw.

[Mitch] What can we
do for you?

What are you hoping
to get out of...

There's a lot
of different ways
my mind thinks and,

and I wish I could
just know what it was,

so I could at least put
a little closure on that.

with analysts...

...who have taken a look

at the information
that you submitted.

John Leavitt provided
the date, time and location.

And a detailed description
of his encounter
to the research team.

But he did not have
any photographic
or video evidence to submit.

Was there a reason why
you weren't able

to take a photo or a video
by chance?

It was fear.

And, "what is this?

Let's get to safety," not,

"let's take a picture of it."

That's the level of fear
I think I was at.

Fear of the unknown, I guess.

-Hmm.
-Yeah.

So we looked at
your date, time and location,

and we cross checked it
with multiple UFO databases.

There was nothing
that we've seen in that area

that could relate to be a UFO.

We also looked at flight data,
satellite, rocket launch data

to see if there's any
correlations as well.

At that time,

we didn't see
any other airplanes
or aircraft.

That means that
there was nothing
that we've seen in that area

that could be a plane
or a drone or anything else
during that time.

There was nothing concrete
that explains what you saw.

But I don't have video.
I don't have photo.

Unfortunately,

I just don't have enough data
to say that it's a UFO.

I have my own outlook.

I strongly disagree
with Chrissy's assessment.

[Chrissy] I wish
I had more data.

Sometimes you have
to throw out the rule book.

were driving, and...

I can see

this string of lights
in the sky.

What in the [bleep]
is in the sky?

I don't have video.
I don't have photo.

Unfortunately, I just
don't have enough data
to say that it's a UFO.

I have my own outlook.

First of all,

as witnesses,
as far as I'm concerned,

you know the outdoors.

You know the terrain.

You had friends with you,
two of them,

who are trained
marine biologists.

Furthermore,

there is a long history

of these sightings
in the New England area

that predate
the modern UFO era.

There was a book
written in 1853

by a New England-based author

named Andrew Jackson Davis.

It was called
The Present Age
and the Inner Life.

And in that book
are three vivid illustrations

of brilliant, mysterious,
lights in the sky.

Not entirely unrelated

to what you
and your colleagues witnessed.

And things
that were also witnessed

by large groups

of perfectly
responsible people.

Then we've got the 1976 report
by local Ken Putnam,

who witnessed a 50 foot UFO

fly into an alleged portal
on Pine Hill Mountain.

The US Navy sent a P3 Orion,

a surveillance aircraft
to the same mountain.

and it ended up crashing.

At the time, it was one of the
Navy's most technologically
advanced aircraft.

We've also got a 1979
law enforcement incident

where three police officers
from two neighboring towns

reported seeing
the exact same lights

making their way
over the Maine coastline.

And we've got 3000 pages

of recently declassified
CIA documents.

This has been going on
for generations
and generations.

Oh wow.

Given your gravity
as a witness,

the vividness
of your testimony,

the testimony of people
who were with you...

The area has a very, very,

rich history and culture

as much as the town
of Roswell itself does.

I feel confident,
personally speaking, saying,

you saw a UFO.

[exhales]

I strongly disagree
with Chrissy's assessment

that there is no evidence.

This is one of those cases

where sometimes
you have to throw out

the rule book
and go with history.

And the credible account

of not one
but multiple witnesses.

So for this case,
I have to say yes.

It was a UFO
that John witnessed.

You've added to the annals
of the research

of this very, very
important topic.

It's definitely
one of the most

interesting things
that's happened in my life.

For me and the people
that were there that night,

It's very real,
and it happened.

His story is unbelievable.

It really is unbelievable,

have enough to go on.

to me supports

a lot of evidence
that there was something.

That is a, uh,
as far as I'm concerned

an impressive witness.

I wish I could say
more to him.

I think we really made
the right choice
coming to Roswell.

Small town.

Big stories.

a question for you.

When you encounter a witness

who has had
multiple experiences,

does that heighten or detract

from the
witness's credibility?

I don't know if it detracts
from the credibility,

because we do see
there's sections
within the brain

that, for some reason,
when people have encounters,

those areas are over-enlarged.

And finding out later on

that this
is potentially hereditary.

and as a family

have had some very
mysterious experiences.

Experiences can be common

or can even be hereditary
among families.

What we wanted to ask,
first and foremost,

in your own words,
you briefly tell us

what your experience has been.

Okay, so...

[Ava] Since I was a child
I've had weird experiences,

and I don't really talk about
them because, you know,
I don't want to be ridiculed.

And you know,
looked at like I'm crazy.

So I always kept
everything to myself.

When I was 12 years old,
I looked out the window

and I had seen
this really big,
saucer-like shape.

And it had, like,

all these different
color lights on it.

The lights were like
green and blue
and yellow and red.

And, I started hearing
like, these voices.

But I didn't know where
the voices were coming from.

And then, I've seen
these three beings.

They were putting
their fingers on the window.

And I put my three fingers
on the window as well.

And now I ran to my mother
and I was like,

"Mommy, Mommy, Mommy,
get the camera,
get the camera."

And by the time we got back
to the window, it was gone.

It was completely gone.

We were scared.

We were nervous.

What if they come for us?

It was never spoken about
ever again.

Like I don't know why we never

talked about it,
but we just never did.

[Mitch] Let's talk about
your most recent experience.

We'd like to hear
directly from you all

what it was you encountered
in the car one night.

On September 21st 2023,

uh, me and my kids
were driving down Route 739.

And from the back of the car,
I can see

this string of lights
in the sky.

They're pointing,
they're looking

and I'm trying to bend
in all kinds of directions.

I'm like,
what are they seeing?

There was no edges at all,

just lights,
just a string of lights.

[Ava] It had to be at least...

[Marjorie] Yeah,
but eight to ten lights.

We are all trying
to capture this thing

on the phone.

[Marjorie] I'm seeing it.
We're seeing it.

And I was like,
"hope somebody's
getting this."

Like, I really need
this photo.

I really need this video
because nobody's ever
gonna believe this.

[Shane] We didn't know
what it was.

It didn't look like
anything we've ever seen.

And I was like,
"What the hell is that?"

We have pulled over,
and I'm sticking my head

right out the window
with my phone out.

I'm being told,
"record, record." I'm like,
"I've got it. I'm on it."

They were moving just
very slowly across the sky.

[Marjorie] What in
the [bleep]
is in the sky today?

I'm seeing it.
We're seeing it.

There were a lot of lights.
No blinking,

um, in a perfect static line,

all moving together in unison

very slowly
in its diagonal path.

[Marjorie] That's not stars.

Cars passing.

Like, there's other stars
and there's [bleep] and that.

-[Shane] It's moving.
-[Marjorie] Yeah, it's going.

[Shane] It's going above us.

And it started to just...
fade out.

Just fade away.

[Marjorie] He's disappearing.
He went above us
and he's [bleep] gone.

- [Marjorie] I got good footage
of that [bleep] thing though.
- [Ava] You got it?

[Marjorie] I got
good ass footage.

When we did
the video analysis,

I have to say to you...

As I'm videotaping the craft,
I audibly ask the craft.

me and my kids were driving

these things?

So you all have stepped up
in a very public way,
with your story.

What is it
that you hope we can provide?

What are you looking for?

We've seen these things,
like, about so many times,

all different types
of saucers,
all different types of things.

And we just honestly
want confirmation about

whether or not these are UFOs

-or some other,
some other type of thing.
-Other beings, yeah, right.

Let me give you a sense
of what we try
to accomplish here.

We have the video evidence
that you have shared.

Chrissy has analyzed
this material with a team
of researchers,

and the results will help me
come to a decision.

So one of the first things
we do is, we look
at video and photo.

So we have cell phone video.

Yeah.

-[Marjorie] It's moving.
-[Ava] Yeah, it's going.

-[Shane] It's going above us.
-[Marjorie] Okay.

[Ava] That's not stars.

[narrator] Ava and her family
submitted a 45-second clip
of their encounter

that occurred
on September 21st 2023
in Pennsylvania for review.

I love to have it
because it gives us an idea.

So you can say,
"Hey, this is what I saw."

So other people can relate
to see if they've seen
the same thing.

So when we did
the video analysis,

we determined that...

It wasn't faked or it wasn't
manipulated in any way.

Uh-hm.

And then we get into date,
time and location.

-And we have that, right?
-Yeah.

So we do cross analysis
of databases, right?

To see if there is any other
sightings in that region.

And we found out...

that there was
multiple sightings

within that region.

[narrator] On the same night
that Ava and her family
witnessed the lights,

Chrissy's team
found 24 similar reports

recorded by other witnesses
in the area.

-[man 1] Holy cow.
-[man 2] What the hell is it?

So let me ask you
one question.

Let's go back to what you saw.

How many lights
did you see in a row?

[Marjorie] Six to 12.

-[Ava] I'd say about 12.
- [Chrissy] You said 6.

-I said eight to ten.
-Eight to ten?

-Yeah.
-Yeah, I'd say 12.
It was a lot.

Yeah.

So we did a freeze frame
of your video.

We saw that it was 22 lights,

-Twenty-two?
-What?

When we freeze framed
and saw those
22 string of lights,

we looked at NORAD data
to see if we could
find anything

that might
potentially correlate
with what you saw.

Hm. Okay.

I'm gonna show you
a few photos.

Does this look like
what you saw?

Yeah, it looks
very similar to that.

And it was brighter.

But it looks very similar.

[Chrissy] What about this one?

-[Shawn] Yeah, that's--
That's definitely it.
-[Ava] That was it.

It looks just like that,
exactly like that.

So here's the thing.

When we looked
at NORAD tracking

on September 19th,

two days
before your family sighting,

we did see something.

[intense music playing]

Starlink had a launch.

It's called Group 6-17.

[suspenseful music playing]

[narrator] Starlink
is an Internet satellite

developed by Elon Musk's
SpaceX.

It orbits the Earth
in a synchronized formation.

Often appearing
as a linked chain
of lights in the sky.

Though the 6-17 launch
occurred two days
before Ava's sighting,

the satellite string
was visible
for nearly ten days.

[suspenseful music playing]

You're not the only person
that noticed this sighting.

As witnesses,
as far as I'm concerned,
you all are impeccable.

But the data is definitive.

You did not witness a UFO.

Oh, man. [sighs]

It kind of sucks because I was
kind of hoping, you know...

-It sucks, really.
-...it was really something,
you know?

-[Chrissy] What we call that
is an IFO.
-[Ava] Yeah.

- [Chrissy] You've identified
a flying object.
- [Ava] Yeah.

[Chrissy] Sometimes we want
an identified flying object

for the fact that knowing
that you can identify it

helps us
to be able to figure out

-ones that we can't identify.
-[Mitch] Exactly.

I know you've gotten
some answers today
that are mundane.

But the point is
to keep searching,
and build a record.

It's there. It sucks.

It sucks that it wasn't
what I wanted it to be.

I still have
all the rest of the UFOs

that I've seen in my life
to, you know,

a satellite,

but who's to say
what we've seen
before was or was not?

They've had other experiences.

checking all of them.

We have to remember that.

of your experience
in your own terms.

Yeah, absolutely.

Uh, it's good to have
someone to talk about it with,
to be honest.

My name is Juergen Hess.

And I think
that aliens saved my life.

[upbeat music playing]

[Juergen] I was giving
a friend of mine
a ride home one night.

And we were going
80 miles an hour
in an SUV in the fast lane.

She said something to me
and I looked at her,
answered her,

and when I looked back,
all the cars in front of us
had come to a stop.

I shouted at her,

"We're gonna hit."

I hit my foot on the brakes,
the tires locked up,

and the last thing I did was
crank the steering wheel
to the side and ducked.

And there was
a flash of light.

I was videotaping one night,

and I audibly asked the craft.

It wasn't blinking
until I asked the question.

I'm not making anything up.

All the cars in front of us
had come to a stop.

I shouted at her,
"We're gonna hit."

I hit my foot on the brakes,
the tires locked up,

and the last thing I did was,

crank the steering wheel
to the side and ducked.

And there was
a flash of light.

And the next thing we know,
we're sitting upright,

driving 80 miles
an hour still,

now in the carpool lane,
with all those cars behind us.

It was impossible.

It was something
I couldn't understand.

It wasn't weird enough
to make me think,
"Oh! It's aliens!"

[chuckles] Like, you know?

But the bizarre thing
was that,

more things
kept happening to me
that I couldn't explain.

And then there was
this one night.

[suspenseful music playing]

I woke up in an extreme panic.

[gasps]

And the sheet got pulled up
over my head

and back tight.

So much so, that it pulled
my forehead back.

My instant reaction
was my hands reached up,

grabbed it and pulled it down.

And when that happened,
I froze.

And I couldn't move
any part of my body.

I couldn't move my eyeballs.
Nothing.

And I've heard that expression
"frozen with fear" before,

and that's the only way
I could describe it
at the time.

I was literally
frozen in fear.

At that point, I realized
there's something more

going on than we understand.

I knew there was something
in my room that night.

But I had nothing
to go on for myself.

You know, I can't just
personally decide
whether or not it's aliens.

I needed to be able
to have an encounter
or something to support that.

And you know,
that's when I moved to Sedona.

With the UFO phenomena
in the Sedona area,

you can see so much activity
on a regular basis

that I went there specifically
to try to see UFOs,

[narrator] The history
of Sedona's association
with UFOs dates back decades,

with reports
of mysterious lights

and unidentified
flying objects

frequently documented
in the region.

Sedona's skies
continue to fuel
fascination and speculation

about the existence
of extraterrestrial life.

I packed up everything
that I could fit in my car.

And I moved out there
from Los Angeles.

That's when
it really escalated,
was at that point.

When you're there,
it feels very different.

I was going out
and starting to capture
these unidentified craft.

And one of the things
I noticed is,

a lot of the craft
have the ability...

...to flash
a really bright light.

I mean, to where
it's the brightest thing
in the sky when it flashes.

'Cause there's no handbook
on this kind of research

or these type of encounters.

So it's a lot
of hit and miss.

January 2nd 2024.

It was about 6:55
in the winter.

It was such
an unexplainable experience.

I was videotaping one night.

So I'm taping
a really dim craft.

I audibly asked the craft.

[suspenseful music playing]

And sure enough,
the craft flashes so bright,

you can-- I mean,
it becomes the brightest

spot of light in the sky
for a moment.

And you wouldn't think

you could just ask
a question and get an answer.

[Juergen] Flash if you want

So we need to get over
the whole "Is it real
or is it not" thing.

They're so real
that I can take people

and show them
to them any night
there's not clouds.

This phenomena
lets us have evidence.

Obviously,
you're very committed
to this experience.

-You relocated your home.
-Yep.

Uh, to dive deeper
into this phenomenon.

And you've also
submitted evidence.

-In this case, video evidence.
-Yes.

Juergen Hess submitted
a 14-second long video

that he recorded
on January 2nd, 2024

that shows a light
moving across the sky

that appears to flash
in response to his question.

[Mitch]
Chrissy and her colleagues
have analyzed video evidence.

-Right.
-And I want to turn it
over to her.

-It'd be great
if we could hear--
-I would love to hear that.

So one of the first things
we did was look at flight data

for that date,
and time, and location.

And it showed
there was no air traffic

over the location of where
you had your sighting.

And then we looked
at satellite data.

The satellite data showed

no visible satellites.

We had two different experts
look at this.

And...

One of our analysts
was curious to see

if it potentially would be
the International
Space Station.

Did you ever think
that it possibly could be?

Uh, it's always on my mind.

I have seen
the ISS before in person.

Um, it goes
in a straight line,
moves at the same speed.

It is pretty bright.

Uh, you do notice it.

Um, I've never seen it
reply to a question, though.

We did find, though,

the International
Space Station

was over Europe
at that point in time.

Oh! Okay, good. Yeah.

One of our other analysts
did come to us and say that...

They thought that it could be
a rocket booster

that was entering
the atmosphere.

I'm not-- I mean,
it was going upwards.

So I'm not sure
how a rocket falling goes up?

[narrator]
Rocket boosters help
propel rockets into orbit

and then typically fall back
into the Earth's atmosphere,

where they eventually
incinerate.

However, as debris such as
a rocket booster falls,

it rotates and reflects
the sun's light,

creating a blinking pattern.

This pattern will continue
as the debris
moves across the sky.

We noticed, though,
with the spinning,

light might catch off it,
light might reflect off it.

So that potentially
could be something

that we're seeing
from that blinking indication.

For me, that is
an almost incomprehensible

amount of coincidence.

That a piece of debris

could only make flashes
that are so bright

when it's being
asked questions.

I'd have to have it
explained to me in a more--

In a way that made
a little more sense
as to how it could do that.

When I look at the analysis
and the report,

and I look at the evidence
and I look at the video,

I have to say that...

July 8th 1947.

It was nicely hushed up.

[reporter 2] Army Air Force
officers reported

that one of the strange disks
have been found and inspected

sometime last week.

The disc landed at a ranch
in Corona, New Mexico.

That's a goddamn spaceship.

You get the hell out of here
and you didn't see anything,

and you don't talk to anybody.

[reporter 2] And the rancher
turned it over
to the Air Force.

The craft had burst open.

But it looked like
unrolled tin foil

that these other
three creatures were laying.

[reporter 2] He says
that it was "so battered."

And he described it
as being made
of some sort of tin foil.

When we got up to it,

there were four bodies there,
not human.

In fact, he said,
the skin would look like

they could almost
see through it,
almost transparent.

[reporter 2] The Army
may be getting
to the bottom of all this talk

about the so-called
flying saucer.

We noticed with the spinning,

light might reflect off it.

So that potentially
could be something

that we're seeing
from that blinking indication.

That is an almost
incomprehensible

amount of coincidence.

That a piece of debris

could only make flashes
that are so bright

when it's being
asked questions.

I'd have to have it
explained to me in a more--

In a way that made
a little more sense
as to how it could do that.

How long did you see
the object blinking for?

Well, it wasn't blinking
until I asked the question.

So I was watching the object
for about 30 seconds.

Before answering the question,

and it had not made
any blinks.

[suspenseful music playing]

Just to confirm that one blink
was the only type of flash,

or blink that happened
in that one video.

Correct. That's the only flash
that craft made. Yep.

[narrator] In the video
Juergen submitted,

the object blinks only once
before disappearing,

ruling out
the space debris theory.

Did the object
ever change direction,

or did it stay
in a straight line?

Um, that object
traveled in a straight line.

-Did it keep going, though?
-It did.

[stammers] It kept going.

That one went
in a straight line,
finally disappeared

-when it got to about
the top of the sky.
-Okay.

Uh, we wa--
I watched it kind of,

maybe ten degrees
off the horizon.

How long did you observe it
traveling for?

It covered that amount
in maybe a minute, that night?

Yeah. I'd say they move
at different speeds.

Yeah, they're not
all the same.

I've seen some going so slow.

I'm not making anything up.

So when I'm looking
at this information

and hearing your testimony,

and I look at the evidence
and I look at the video.

I have to say that...

I just don't have
enough data to go over here

and to be able to fully
give up a proper analysis.

Right.

When I first walked in here,
to be 100 percent
frank with you,

I thought this is
going to be a no for me.

But I think your credibility
as a witness
ranks very, very high.

Um, Chrissy's analysis

found no other objects
at that time.

There was no
identifiable air traffic.

We have
the space debris thesis,

but that's very general
and it doesn't really apply

because the object
didn't blink
over and over again,

as one might expect
from space debris.

I believe...

if the phenomena
is that regular here,

so people
don't get so afraid of it,

and can realize it's there
and probably been there

It was your classic saucer.

The car's surrounded
by this white, blue light.

It felt like it was
moving through me.

and I take a shot.

I look at the picture
and I realize

that I have
that amazing photo.

I've never shown it
to anyone before.
