what is happening in our skies is long overdue.

- [Tony] Has the government been hiding

the truth about aliens?

- Yes, and here's why.

- The proof starts now.

Hi everybody and welcome to "The Proof is Out There".

Unless you just arrived on planet Earth,

you're probably aware that the US government,

specifically the office of the Director

of National Intelligence recently released a highly

anticipated report on UFO sightings, confirmed incidents

involving the US military

and what the government calls unidentified aerial

phenomena or UAP.

- For the first time, the US government is actually

acknowledging that there are things happening in the skies

that we can't fully yet explain.

- They've admitted publicly

that there are objects making incursions into US airspace

and they predominantly focus

around US military installations or US training grounds.

- [Tony] As far as we're concerned,

the biggest news in the ODNI Report

is that the Pentagon has investigated a

whopping 144 encounters between the US military and UAPs.

What's more, 99% of the incidents

they investigated remain unexplained.

- Out of those 144, only one were they able to identify.

They confirmed that they found a weather balloon.

- Another thing that the report covered is

that since we don't know what these things are,

they actually pose a safety risk.

- [Tony] The report says that

when these incidents are finally explained,

they'll likely fall into one

of five potential categories.

The first four are pretty standard stuff like airborne

clutter or foreign technology.

But the kicker is that last catchall category called other.

- They tell us that this other category doesn't necessarily

mean it's an extraterrestrial craft,

but they don't say it's not.

They're leaving open the possibility

that there might be something in the skies flying around

that they don't understand.

That's huge.

- Notably, most of the encounters are quite recent,

but only three have been specifically identified.

First, the sighting of the so-called Tic-Tac object

by US Naval Aviators from the USS Nimitz Aircraft

carrier in 2004.

Second, the UFO's seen

by Naval Aviators from the USS Roosevelt in 2015.

- [Pilot] Look at that thing.

It's rotating.

- [Tony] And third, two videos shot during a series

of naval exercises in 2019.

One from the USS Russell, the other from the USS Omaha.

These were released by filmmaker Jeremy Corbell.

- So we're gonna get into that recent footage in a bit,

but it's important to note that there's a lot

of other truly fascinating footage from decades prior

and from outside the United States.

How far back does this thing go?

Well, how far back do you want to go?

Fun fact, some of the first modern sightings were a spate

of mystery airships reported around the US in the 1890's.

- Mystery airships of the late 1800's are an

interesting case because we didn't have technology like

that here when these large airships were seen.

- We have accounts

where people on the ground describe these airships floating

over their homes or their fields, ladders descending.

- [Tony] 50 years later in World War II,

allied fighter pilots reported glowing orbs

they dubbed foo fighters.

- You had allied pilots seeing bizarre objects,

luminous objects that didn't match any

of the axis powers aircraft or any of their own aircraft.

The prevailing belief by the allies was

that this was some type of secret Luftwaffe

technology possibly being used by the Nazis.

But interestingly enough,

after the war, we can find in some of the Luftwaffe records

that both German pilots were experiencing it as well.

- [Tony] Since then, UFOs have been seen everywhere,

including very close to home.

Like here, right off the California coast.

November 14th, 2004,

former Navy commander David Fravor was stationed

on the USS Nimitz when he

and another pilot saw UFOs speeding through the sky

before dropping 80,000 feet in less than a second.

- [Pilot] My gosh, look at that thing.

- What we saw with four sets

of eyes over a five minute period, still there's nothing,

we have nothing close to it.

It was, it was amazing to see the technology

that we faced was far superior than anything that we had.

- [Tony] By now, it's easily the most watched UFO

ever caught on camera.

And even if you've seen it before,

here are the facts you need to know.

November 14th, 2004.

Two jets from the USS Nimitz carrier strike group conducting

maneuvers in the Pacific off San Diego take off

to investigate unusual signals pinging the squadron's

Aegis radar system.

What they saw created headlines around the world.

- Some of the most recent UFO headlines

that have come out concern a strange new shape of UFO,

often called a tic-tac.

This was made famous when the USS Nimitz as well

as the the fleet around her encountered

what pilots described

as a 40 foot long tic-tac shaped object.

It's described as being white, no wings

or visible signs of propulsion,

and it just simply operates in a very strange way,

almost like a a ping pong ball being thrown around.

It's very erratic.

- [Tony] A third pilot took off to confirm the sighting

and it was his jet's targeting pod

that captured the thermal images of the tic-tac.

With no wings, what was the tic-Tacs source of lift?

With no heat exhaust plume,

what was its source of propulsion?

It remains unexplained

and the Pentagon admits in the latest government report

that they cannot rule out

that it might have extra terrestrial origin.

In 2023, the testimony

of retired Air Force intelligence

officer David Grusch added a new layer.

- What I personally witnessed myself

and my wife was very disturbing.

- [Tony] Grusch says he was allowed

to see secret UFO reports

and he alleged that a massive government coverup on UFOs has

been happening since before World War II.

- Has the US government become aware of actual evidence

of extraterrestrial otherwise unexplained

forms of intelligence, and if so,

when do you think this first occurred?

- Previously, 1930's.

- The Navy videos that were released,

number one, these were released by the US government

as evidence of something strange in our skies.

Something that the military doesn't understand, that's key.

Second, these videos that were shot were shot

by Navy pilots who understand

their adversaries, the Russians, the Chinese,

and other nations that we might be going up against.

They understand that technology,

they understand what they're gonna see.

This represents something they haven't seen before.

- [Tony] The question is, how far does this conspiracy go

and is any of this alien evidence

present in other videos?

The next footage w

military grade camera.

It documents a phenomenon that's an ongoing problem today,

unexplained incursions into the airspace near American bases

and warships at sea.

And this particular location just happens

to have a very special connection to the subject

of alien spaceships.

Was it just a coincidence? Take a look.

It's 1994 at the Nevada test and training range.

It's used for flight tests, aerial gunnery,

even nuclear tests.

Today an air force tracking station in the desert is

monitoring the airspace above the top secret site,

When its remote controlled cameras capture something

that has no business being there.

- These 12 minutes of video were captured

by remote controlled cameras from the Nellis Air Force base.

And what they show you is fascinating.

- [Tony] The video was shot with a camera

that amplifies the light from the stars

and the moon to make it appear almost as bright as day.

You can see in the time code

that it was 11:21 PM.

That's the moon causing the bright lens

flare while the operators zoom in on the object.

- It appears to be a craft of undefined shape

and origin that's moving erratically in a pattern

that wouldn't be explained

by the aircraft technology available at the time.

- The readout in the upper right

of the frame measures the object's distance

from the camera.

- [Tony] The object moves slowly above the horizon

and then soars upward.

- This object doesn't appear to have any wings

or rotor blades and it appears to change shape in flight.

- [Tony] Now here's what takes the weird

to that other level.

Within the Nevada test and training range,

is a high security area whose name has

become synonymous with UFO theory, Area 51.

- Area 51 is a military base.

The military didn't actually acknowledge that it existed

until the 2000's I wanna say,

and many in the UFO community believe that it's a hotspot

for testing on alien technology.

So when it actually was confirmed to exist,

it was a really big deal.

- But here's the thing, if this was some top secret tech,

domestic or alien being flown out of area 51,

you'd think the operators would know something about

what's going on.

Instead, they sound completely confused, which suggests

that whatever this is,

didn't have the clearance to be there.

So what are we really looking at?

Let's hand this over to our experts.

- The object moves erratically in the sky,

which suggests it's not an aircraft

that we knew about at the time,

such as a helicopter or a jet.

The way it's moving is almost the way a drone would move,

but drones didn't exist when this was captured.

- [Tony] So the object's movement rules

out known aircraft, as does its odd shape.

Let's zoom in.

There's no sign of an engine or an exhaust trail

- That leads me to believe that

what we're looking at here is powered potentially

by cold gas thrusters.

A technology that wasn't necessarily

as well understood at the time,

but it could be an early prototype for a modern drone.

- [Tony] But Mick West takes a closer look.

He doesn't think the object is moving much at all.

- Whenever you see it moving

and you can see something like a hill in the background,

you'll see they both move together.

So all the motion

that we have in this particular video is just

the motion of the camera.

It's not really moving very rapidly in the scene

and it's not really turning or making any very abrupt moves.

It's just gonna gently seeming to drift along

and gently rotate.

- [Tony] Mark D'Antonio sees it the same way.

- All the fast movements you see here are the camera itself

moving to reengage with the object and to see it,

but it's not the object moving quickly.

If you study the sky background

and if you look at what is going on you, you'll notice

that the camera's doing all the moving

- [Tony] And that leads both D'Antonio

and West to a very earthly explanation.

- It looks like a bunch of balloons, which is, you know,

an odd thing that you might not expect

to see on a military training range.

But there are small towns nearby.

Someone could have just had a party

and some balloons got loose

or it could have been something

that they were experimenting with.

- There have been balloon targets used before.

Maybe this is what we're seeing here.

But the folks on the base,

they certainly weren't expecting this.

- This is unfortunately is a case where we may never know

what this object actually was

because this is the type of thing

that the military either forgets about

or they don't tell you about.

- So based on that further observation

of the object's motion and shape, we're gonna say

that this was some kind of balloon

that meandered into the high security airspace.

But this incident was not mentioned in the government's

recent UFO report.

So what the Pentagon thinks of this remains a mystery.

The International Space Station

or ISS is a modern marvel of engineering

and global cooperation.

As astronauts from a host

of nations advance mankind's research in space,

some eagle eyed earth bound viewers believe

they've spotted aliens studying us.

250 miles above the earth's surface,

two astronauts are on a routine spacewalk

to perform maintenance.

NASA flight engineer Peggy Whitson films their mission

and in the process capture something out of this world.

A strange object seems to be following. Look closer.

It appears to be spinning slowly as if to get a better view.

It's visible in the background

for almost the entire seven hour space walk.

Social media blows up.

Many speculate that this is proof

of a UFO monitoring the ISS.

Could this also be proof of a government coverup?

Author and editor Brad Olsen thinks

there's an entire ET surveillance network.

Some believe the centerpiece is a mysterious satellite

called the Black Knight that avoids detection

through a cloaking device.

- The Black Knight satellite flies a very peculiar

rotation around the earth, from pole to pole.

So as the earth spins in that direction,

eventually every continent will come underneath

where this Black Knight satellite flies.

- [Tony] In 1899, famed inventor Nicola Tesla received

a radio transmission

that some believe was from the Black Knight.

And photos of a strange object like this one taken

from the ISS add to the speculation

that an alien satellite is orbiting earth.

But if there are alien spying on us,

no one knows exactly what they'd hope to learn.

- What they're using it for

to monitor the earth is truly one

of the greatest mysteries of our planet.

- Now, other footage from the ISS has reinforced the idea

that strange things are happening up in orbit.

Check this picture out.

It's from 2015 when a British astronaut saw three lights

moving in formation near the ISS.

Now the image is tough to see, but let's zoom in

and I'll point out what we're talking about.

It's right here.

Here and again, right here.

Strange, right?

But before we sound the alarm,

let's analyze these images with our experts.

Mark D'Antonio studies the spacewalk footage

to see if the object could be some kind of satellite.

- It actually falls into shadow of the Space station.

A few points in the video.

That is something that tells me

that it's actually fairly small

and fairly close to the Space Station.

- [Tony] So maybe it's one of the 130 million pieces

of space junk circling the earth.

The ISS sometimes has to maneuver out of the way

to avoid being hit by that stuff.

- If it was space junk, we would kind of expect it

to be moving across the surface

of the earth in a different direction.

But because they're moving at the same speed through space,

it kind of looks like it's something

that's paralleling the motion

of the International Space Station.

- [Tony] Mick West dismisses the Black Knight Spy Satellite

Theory for the same reason.

It would follow a completely different orbit from the ISS,

and after doing some investigating,

D'Antonio thinks this UFO is from the ISS itself.

- This particular object was a shield that was supposed

to be installed and they dropped it by accident.

- [Tony] The shield is made of two inch thick fabric

that's meant to protect the ISS from strikes

from space junk.

As for those three streaks of light, D'Antonio researches

that particular ISS mission and notes

there was an interesting problem.

- There was a leak of a liquid from the Russian sector

of the International Space Station.

In the final analysis, it turns out

that this is almost definitely just urine

that leaked out of the Russian sector

of the International Space Station.

- Our verdict, the UFOs were really a flyaway shield

and some Russian urine.

Yeah, I said it.

But the space junk problem, that's real.

In fact, NASA is worried about something called the Kessler

Syndrome, where so many objects will be in orbit

that a collision could cause a whole cascade

of smash ups, producing so much clutter,

it would make future launches impossible.

Planr.

Sometimes though, the signal disappears

and the plane keeps going.

But what does it mean if the signal keeps going

and the plane disappears?

Follow closely now.

This story takes place in November, 2021

off the coast of Russia and in the deserts of Arizona.

People are monitoring a flight tracking site called

Flight Radar 24 that tracks planes in real time

when they start noticing something strange going on.

They share screenshots from the site showing a plane

identified as Avrora.

It looks like it's on a standard transpacific flight path

from Arizona to Russia, but it's actually not.

Its call sign is seen flying over Arizona's Sonora Desert

when it suddenly disappears.

It's gone for almost 22 hours.

Then it reappears off the coast

of Russia's Kamchatskiy

Peninsula, over 4,000 miles away

where it is spotted for

the next three days.

It's a flight that should only take 10 hours.

And even though you see an arc between Arizona

and Russia, that's just the app filling in the space between

where Avrora vanished in the US

and appeared near

Russia, whatever it was,

didn't actually fly along this flight path.

Online, people speculate Avrora

is an unidentified possibly alien craft using

a kind of portal to travel from one location to another.

This fits with a UFO theory known as Dark Forest,

which suggests alien species purposely hide from us

because they are not sure yet if we're a threat

to them or will become one.

Scientists believe this dark forest idea could potentially

explain why we haven't been picking up

extra terrestrial radio activity.

It's because they are hiding

as they scan the universe for threats.

So could this be a stealth UFO?

Let's turn to our experts.

Aviation expert, Tim McMillan examines the data

to see if it could have an extraterrestrial origin.

- These particular devices are only picking up the

transponders that are coming off of the aircraft

and so I would be inclined to say it's not a UFO

because it has a transponder.

- [Tony] But video analyst Mick West says

there's something about how the transponder

is transmitting its code that still seems off.

Could it be a glitch in the system?

- The transponder codes that we see here are the ICAO,

the International Civil Aviation Authority Codes.

They are a six digit hexa decimal code,

which means it uses the digits zero through nine

and A through F.

But in this case we don't have a code,

we just have all fives, which is an invalid code.

- [Tony] Then could it be a plane that's relaying

a false code to trick a potential adversary

into thinking it's there when it's not,

a practice known as spoofing.

McMillan says that's unlikely.

In fact, he doubts it's even a plane.

- It's moving extremely slow.

It's going around three knots an hour, slower than even a

balloon might travel

and it's only at about 3,300 feet in altitude.

None of that matches with a known airplane.

- [Tony] So West comes up with only one possible answer.

- I think what we have here is two separate incidents.

An aircraft in Arizona, possibly an aircraft in Russia

that just happened to have

the same invalid transponder code.

- West says the planes likely don't have a transponder code,

so they're being assigned the same default code,

five, five, five, five, five, five.

So while the Russian planes call sign may be Avrora,

the tracking system is accidentally

identifying a different

plane in Arizona that's using the same default

five, five, five, five, five, five code.

We think West's guess

that these are two separate aircraft is the most likely,

but even that theory requires a series

of coincidences to line up.

So for now we're going

to consider this an unsolved aviation mystery,

until we get more information about this unusual call sign.

It's November 23er

between Arizona and Mexico.

Department of Homeland Security agents are flying an RC 26

surveillance aircraft on the hunt

for drug smugglers, when suddenly their infrared

cameras capture this.

Let's zoom in for a closer look.

The strange object has a solid body that tapers at one end

with what looks like a smaller circle above the other end.

Its odd shape has an uncanny resemblance

to everyone's favorite bath toy

and instantly becomes known as the Rubber Duck UFO.

In September, 2021, UFO investigator Andy Marcial

receives the footage from a

secret source at the Department of Homeland Security.

- When I opened it I realized, wow,

this is like a leak of all leaks.

I've seen many drones, I've seen moon footage.

This is what I do for a living.

I do my due diligence

and I believe it's a legitimate UAP or UFO.

- [Tony] Journalist MJ Banias says the video took everyone

by surprise when it first landed online.

- It is shaped like a rubber duck.

This is definitely bizarre,

but using the information on screen we can deduce it seems

to be around six feet in length.

So it's quite a small object.

- There's another thing that distinguishes this government

UFO video from all the other headline making incidents

of the recent past.

Those military encounters all took place over water

and were observed by navy planes or warships.

This takes place over land, on the border, no less.

So does this signal a new wave

of UFOs interacting with the government?

We're gonna turn this over to our experts

to see if this Rubber Duck UFO is all

that's quacked up to be.

First we asked Rich Hoffman of the Scientific Coalition

for UAP studies to examine the footage.

- But what one of the things we're finding out about UFO

study is that basically shape doesn't really

seem to matter much.

We've had objects that are discs, some are triangles,

some are cigar shaped, cylindrical.

- [Tony] But while UFO shapes can be different,

Hoffman notes that

what typically defines a UFO

are common behavioral characteristics,

including hypersonic speed, cloaking

and transmedium travel.

- This one didn't seem to make any pronounced types

of bead changes

that we would say instantaneous acceleration.

It didn't stop in the air

and hover, it didn't do the things

that you might typically see in a lot of UFO cases.

- [Tony] So if the rubber duck is a conventional

object, could it be an airplane?

Hoffman says the shape of the object

and the thermal nature of the camera offer clues.

- The temperature of the aircraft would not be the solid

white that you see on that image.

You would see the variations in terms of color

and in fact in the very beginning of the

video you could see

where the heat is maybe coming out of an exhaust part of

that engine and that's what it would've looked like.

- [Tony] Next we ask science writer Mick West

to take a look.

- We can use the data from this plane to measure

how far it goes over the course of the video.

It actually only moves about eight

to 10 miles over the course of the entire 20, 30 minutes

that it's tracking the the object.

It seemed like it was moving 120 miles per hour,

but since it only moves

around eight miles in like 30 minutes,

it really means it's moving less than 20 miles per hour,

which is, you know, not much faster than normal wind speed.

So we know

that this object probably isn't moving very fast at all.

It doesn't change direction, it doesn't seem

to change altitude.

It is flying in a straight line.

- [Tony] Mick up all these individual factors

and arrives at a hypothesis.

- One possibility is this rubber duck shape is actually a

bunch of balloons where some of them at the bottom

of the body and then the upper one is the the head.

It might just be some party somewhere

and they just blew in the wind

and this is what we ended up with.

So I think it's probably not some kind of alien spaceship.

- [Tony] Ultimately, the video ends

with the rubber duck still flying,

leaving Mick to admit that his theory is just that a theory.

- We don't know how this story ends.

All we have is this section of the video.

We don't know what happens after that.

So there's still a mystery as to

what happened after this video.

- Our verdict, while mixed analysis

of the balloon hypothesis has merit,

the video doesn't give us a clear enough image to make

that call with confidence.

Whatever the image is,

we know border patrol agents filmed it

until their time in the air came to an end.

They probably wouldn't have done that

for something commonplace.

So we're gonna call this a genuine UFO for now,

until it's properly identified.

Meanwhile, if any other citizen journalist out there come in

In Latin America

more open about reports

of so-called unidentified, aerial phenomena.

And as you're about to see,

there's a heck of a lot to report.

In March of 2004,

a Mexican Air Force surveillance plane patrols along

the Gulf of Mexico.

On the lookout for drug smugglers,

its infrared camera instead captures this

startling footage. A string of glowing orbs.

The video lasts for almost a minute

and here you can see 11 of those orbs seeming

to fly in formation.

When the plane turns to follow,

the objects seem to disappear.

The camera operator declares

that whatever it was he's filmed, it's 100% real.

The Mexican Secretary of Defense releases the video so

that the scientific community can study it.

MJ Banias, a journalist who covers the unexplained,

has looked into the incident.

- When this sighting was first made public,

a lot of people within the UFO community got very excited

about UFOs operating in fleets.

- [Tony] These orbs are reminiscent of foo fighters seen

by World War II pilots.

They also look similar to another Mexican UFO

we've reported on before.

This glowing object,

which Captain Erik Delgado recorded in 2020

as it tracked his cargo plane

for 20 minutes in the airspace above Monterey.

- [Erik] That is phenomenal man. Look at that.

- [Tony] Strangely, that orb never showed up

on Delgado's collision avoidance system

or air traffic control's radar.

There's weather about 40 miles off our left wing tip

where this thing seems to have disappeared.

I guess now I can definitively say we are not alone.

- Something similar was reported

with this Mexican Air Force incident.

The crew of the surveillance plane counted 11 objects,

but only three showed up on the plane's radar.

For years, this video has sparked hot debate,

so we turned it over to our team of experts.

Mick West is a forensic video analyst who looks

for any tampering with the footage.

His conclusion.

- This is a real video of UFOs.

It was taken by the Mexican military

and verified as being a real thing.

- [Tony] Which brings us to the challenge

of identifying those glowing objects.

Astronomer and video effects designer Mark D'Antonio

considers the most obvious answer.

- There's a theory that this is maybe a fleet

of aircraft being flown by drug smugglers,

but these objects never distance themselves from each other.

I think drug smugglers are probably not

championship formation flying pilots like the Thunderbirds

and the Blue Angels.

You know, one plane would go up higher,

one would come lower.

So I don't think that these are other aircraft.

- [Tony] West considers a string of other theories,

including a mysterious natural phenomenon.

Orbs of light known as ball lightning.

- Ball lightning is very, very rare

and it's normally just occurs one at a time

and doesn't last very long.

So I think the likelihood of this being a whole bunch

of ball lightning all at once is extraordinarily low.

- [Tony] What about space junk?

- A rocket disintegrating, you would see up in the air.

This is something they're looking basically horizontal

out of the horizon.

So space junk is not really a good explanation.

- [Tony] So the objects don't move like space junk.

In fact, West thinks they might not be moving at all.

Plotting the plane's location, West calculates

that its camera was pointed out over the Gulf of Mexico.

- If we look at a map of the region,

we can see there's a whole bunch of oil wells,

which usually have some kind of flare on the top.

So perhaps what they were seeing were the flares

from these platforms.

- [Tony] But it seems clear the objects are moving, right?

- Just above the horizon,

you're poking up these little oil wells.

And here's some kind of dummy clouds, which I've,

I've put in and if we move the camera to the left,

it looks like the oil rigs are moving past the clouds,

so it's an illusion of motion.

- But even West admits his theory isn't 100% certain.

Digging deeper, we found out the oil wells are almost 100

miles from the plane, making it unlikely they'd show

up on thermal camera.

And another crucial detail,

you see the flickering flames from the oil wells?

In the alleged UFOs, no flickering.

So oil wells or something stranger?

We're calling this a sighting of genuine UFOs

and the similarities with the orb recently reported

by Captain Delgado are striking.

17 years after this video was shot,

the Mexican government just like us,

is still looking for answers.

there in the universe.

In fact, many believe aliens have been observing our planet

for thousands of years, citing everything from the pyramids

in Egypt to the Nazca lines in Peru as evidence of contact.

Now, a strange discovery in a recent NASA photo has some

saying these visitors haven't just been observing earth.

Check out what we found on our next door neighbor, Mars.

In March, 2006 the Mars reconnaissance orbiter

begins its mission

of studying the atmosphere and terrain of the red planet.

Since then, the orbiter has taken almost 7 million

pictures of the Martian surface,

but it wasn't until 2021 that somebody noticed this.

It's a pair of long parallel lines with indentations

that lead to what appears to be a half-buried disc

And take a closer look.

See that perfectly shaped crescent edge?

George Haas, director of the Cydonia Institute explains

what the buzz is all about.

- A South African researcher says he found what appeared

to be the remains of a UFO crash.

The object that he was looking at was between 12

and 15 meters in diameter

and it could be the remains of a flying disc

that had crashed on the red planet.

- [Tony] If it was a flying saucer, did it come from Mars

or somewhere else in the galaxy?

And if so, was it observing Mars

because there was a civilization there?

Could this be proof of another government coverup?

Haas says many believe ancient civilizations including one

called the Cydonians once thrived on the red planet.

So who could this ship belong to?

- For people that believe this UFO crash on Mars

is an actual UFO, it may be connected

to the grays that visit our planet.

They've been visiting our planet for millennia

and possibly visiting Mars also.

Some believe that the gray aliens crashed at Roswell

and they may have also lost control of one

of their vehicles on Mars.

- Now we know people have been seeing alleged signs

of civilization on Mars ever since this famous face was

discovered in a 1976 photograph taken by Viking I.

Most of these images, including the face, were revealed

to be natural geological formations, once

higher resolution images became available.

But what about this?

I mean that clean, circular edge is pretty clear.

Couldn't that really be the back edge of a flying saucer?

Look at the outer edge.

This would be the crash path right here

and it sure doesn't look natural.

Let's find out what our experts think.

We start with astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy.

For billions of years,

of our solar system has been bombarded with objects.

Could this be a meteor that streaked from out of the sky?

- Take a look at the moon.

On the surface of moon, there's a crater called Messier A

and what that is is a shallow, meteor impact

that came in in a very shallow angle

and carved out elliptical shape crater.

This is how a normal asteroid crash would look,

but comes in at a shallow angle.

However, on this specific trail leading up to the object,

you don't see much of that.

This object itself is still intact.

- [Tony] So then how can we explain the smooth,

crescent shape of the disc?

- There is speculation

that it could potentially be the heat shield off of a probe

that got ejected into the Martian surface.

- Since 1960, there have been around 50 attempts

to send probes directly to Mars,

but only about half have been successful.

Is this disc the remnant of a failure?

- If you look at the trench

this object crashed down on, it looks pretty wide and deep.

To me that rules out any kind of heat shield crash

because the heat shield from a probe wouldn't necessarily

have enough energy to carve out such a trench.

- [Tony] So if it's not manmade,

could we be looking at the remains

of an alien spaceship?

For that answer, we turn to NASA geologist Bob Anderson.

Anderson says the location

of the formation is an important

clue to solving the mystery.

- This area is called Candor Chasm,

which is parallel to the Valles Marineris.

Valles Marineris is the Grand Canyon on Mars.

It's a huge rift, a crack that's seven miles down

and would go the distance of Los Angeles to New York.

Valles Marineris is covered by volcanic planes.

A combination of sedimentary layers and volcanic lava flows.

These long streaks

that you see going across the surface here,

those are common all over Mars.

- [Tony] What looks like the trail

of a crashed UFO is actually an ancient geologic crack in

the surface of Mars.

But if it's a natural crack, how did the object at the end

of the trail get the perfect curve of a spaceship?

- If you look really closely,

you can see this one just happens

to be perfectly arcuate here, most likely

because the winds are coming over

and then they're falling into the crack.

And the only thing that's given everybody the idea

that it's a spaceship, is those dunes that are

around the front that make it look

like there's a circular disc.

- [Tony] But McCarthy isn't convinced

- To me this object doesn't seem to have gotten here

through natural processes, its shape

and the way it seemed

to settle into landscape is completely different than

any other object we've seen on the Martian surface.

But as to what this object is, I can only speculate.

- So it seems we have another split decision here.

While Dr. Anderson's theory checks all the boxes,

McCarthy's point that finding a naturally perfect curve does

seem too good to be true.

Our verdict for now, until we can get a closer look

and confirm what's there, we're gonna go

with unexplained phenomenon.

And if it is a crashed UFO,

we'll be the first to let you know.

In our quest for answers,

we've unraveled some pretty incredible videos.

But one big question remains,

how much is the government hiding from us

and when will they finally reveal the truth?

- We're not bringing little green men

or flying saucers into the hearing,

we're just gonna get to the facts.

We're gonna uncover the coverup.

- We are eager to see where we go next,

but for now, it might be wise to consider

that when you look up at the night sky,

someone might be looking back.
