Welcome to this lesson.

In this lesson, we're going to be looking at how we can publish this report now up to the power by

service.

So earlier on in the course, we looked at how we could use the Power BI service and we brought some

data in and we created a just a table within a report here.

We're going to take this entire report and we're now actually going to publish that into the Power BI

service.

Okay, there's a couple of things you need to do before you can actually publish.

So the first part is if you go into the top right hand corner, you'll see that you need to sign in.

So please enter your credentials for Power BI service.

Make sure that you're signed in.

That's our first step.

Our second step is, is that you need to save the file.

So go to your save and where you use the save as just make sure that the name of the file that you're

going to use is going to be the name of the report in the Power BI service.

So just make sure that the name is something that you want in the power of your service.

So just click on Save As.

And you would then navigate to where you want to save these reports.

And in this case, I'm going to call my sales report.

And as I say, this is the name that's going to be used actually in the public, your service.

Okay.

So we're going to save that and accept it.

And the next part is just that we're going to publish this.

So go to your publish option.

And what it will do is it will now log in to the pub your service, and it brings back a list of the

different workspaces that you have access to.

I have a pro license so I can access multiple different workspaces.

If you're on the free license, then you would only have the my workspace option.

In this case, we're going to select the my workspace as a place where we're going to publish this report.

So make sure my workspace is selected and then click on the select button.

K You'll now see that this will publish up into the power of your service.

And depending on how quick your system is and everything will depend on how quickly it will get up there,

but quite honestly, it should be quite quick.

There we go.

Oh, it's already successfully got there.

Right.

We're going to move across to the PA service and we're going to have a look at this report.

So we're in the pub air service now.

I'm on the home page and what we're going to do is we're going to go down to the workspaces and we're

going to select the my Workspace option.

So when I go into my workspace, if I'm under all, it will show me a list of all the different reports

and also the data sets and the different dashboards that I've got.

Now, what you should notice is that you've now got a data set for your sales report, and you've also

got a report for your sales report.

We're going to select the sales report to just have a view and to see this report.

So just click on the sales report and you'll see that it now is brought into the air service.

Now, you should see that this will work exactly like it did in the pub, your desktop.

If you go to any of the filters, you just choose your regions.

You will see how that filters your data.

You'll see that working so you can clear that.

But you'll also notice is that the cross filtering will work.

So if you select your different product categories, for example, you will see how it will filter your

data.

If you click on one space just within the visualization that will clear that filter.

And then you can also try your paragraph as well, and you'll see that that also creates cross filtering.

You can also see the highlighting effect in place over here, which we spoke about earlier on in the

course.

If you wanted to change that to a filter, you could.

So you see that all of those filtering capabilities are actually working.

Now, what you may also notice is that we also have several pages here.

So this is actually now published all the pages that I was busy working on during the course.

Now, sometimes you may not want those pages to actually be published, so I'm just going to go back

to the Power BI desktop quickly and we're just going to have a quick look at how we would make sure

that we don't actually publish those pages.

So if we go back to the publisher desktop, okay, we're back in the Power BI desktop.

Now all you would do is actually you just go down to the page itself, you right click and you'll see

an option called hide Page.

So I could go along and I could just hide all of these pages.

And basically then next time I publish, those pages will not be actually published into the PA service.

So that's how you remove that.

Okay.

We're going to go back to the PA service.

We're just going to have a look at a few more features.

So I'm going to go back to my sales report.

And what you'll see is on the top is that we get a number of different functions.

So if you look at your file, you'll see that you can actually save this as a copy.

So if you've got authoring rights, then you could come into this and actually change it within the

PA service.

Now normally that's not a great idea because then you'll have a version that's on the part of our service

and another version that's in the your desktop.

So it's best just to author your report into one place.

You'll see that you can even download this file as well.

So you could actually download the data set and somebody else could use it in their power.

BI desktop can print the page obviously always useful, can even embed this into other pages as well.

So you get an embed code and then you're able to put that in and do have options such as generating

QR codes and some settings as well.

You'll see that this ability to export this.

So we're going to talk later on in the course a bit about analyzing it in Excel.

We'll also see that there's options to be able to embed this in PowerPoint.

And also we could even embed into PowerPoint with live data.

There is an ability to also export this as a PDF as well.

You'll see that you can do share on this, so you can share this to other people.

Just make sure they do have power BI licenses and that they're able to actually exit and that they have

the right credentials to access this report.

And you can see this links to teams as well.

There is a functionality here called Get Insights.

This is more about the fact of understanding different data.

I'm going to talk about that a little bit more in the next couple of lessons where we're going to look

at some of the functionality that we get.

Email subscriptions for email subscriptions.

I think you do need to be on the pro license for this, but what's quite nice with email subscriptions

is you can set up new subscriptions.

You can say who you want this to be sent to, What is the subject?

Which page do you want?

What is the frequency?

How often it's going to be.

Also, do you want to include?

You can see down here a link to the report in Power BI Do you want to preview Image?

You can even send the full report as an attachment as well.

So a few functionalities if you want an email subscription to send this out like every day to somebody

that would receive it.

If you want to edit this, then you could select the editor as well and you'll see that there's a number

of other options as well about being able to see the related content and the lineage view as well,

which shows you where the different files come from.

These are really more just from an authoring point of view.

But as I say, you're going to see there's a few options that you can work with here.

You also see over here you have your favorites.

You can also add comments to this as well, can refresh the file.

And also over here, you can decide how you want your your files, your actual viewing to be viewed.

So do you want full screen for page width and so on?

So you'll see there's quite a few options that you can actually work with there.

Okay.

So we've now published the sales report up into the publisher service and the next lessons we're going

to be looking at how we can do it a bit more with this data.
