it's been several hours.

or a crash site.

specifically came in close

to test out some phantom
cyber technology.

If they could spoof our radar,
causing us to see planes

where no planes exist,

they could have us
chasing our tails all day.

That would explain
the recent rash of UFO sightings

by military pilots.

Then again, the plane may have
flown out to sea below radar,

and the Russians are
already home laughing at us

while we're on
a wild goose chase.

Well, what are
the other possibilities?

I mean, on the
outside chance

that they were able to do
an emergency landing,

somebody had to see
or at least hear something.

That is an extremely
loud airplane.

If all four engines
were working.

What if they were down to one?

Or none.

They went into a dive
off the coast.

Could have been
a bird strike.

No engines, no sound.

They would have been forced
to try and glide

into a dead-stick landing.

Hmm. If they were low enough
to avoid radar,

they're not gonna glide
very far.

But look where they disappeared.

Last known location,
they're headed out to sea.

Okay, so they're down
to one engine,

they're flying below radar,
along a rugged coastline

that's sparsely inhabited,

in an area that's prone
to heavy fog.

[sighs]

Uh, no, not yet, but Sam
and Callen are theorizing

about an emergency landing.

Well, so, Sam thinks that
the crew would blow up the plane

and then send out a Mayday.

They would insist
the plane had crashed,

so by the time we could
get anybody out on the scene,

all the useful intel
would have been destroyed.

Wow. The White House
and the Kremlin both save face

with a lovely PR event
while the crew

are safely repatriated
back home.

After, of course, the requisite
Disneyland photo shoot.

Of course.I'm sure the
Air Force

and Navy are all over this,
but we should cast a wide net--

so, local flight clubs, plane
spotters, ham radio operators--

to see if anybody's reported
any unusual aircraft.

If these pilots were forced
to make an emergency landing,

there are a ton
of abandoned airfields

throughout California,

not to mention
desolate desert roads

and even salt flats
that could work

if you were trying to delay
detection as long as possible.

Any chatter in the areas
with unusual air traffic?

Not with
our traditional sources,

but I did some trolling on some
UFO websites and social media,

just to see if I could find
anything out of the ordinary.

Let me tell you, that is a deep,
dark rabbit hole to go down.

There's not one,
but three separate accounts

of a small humanoid creature
going through dumpsters

in El Segundo.

I think we know that guy.

I think we
arrested that guy.

There were also
several sightings

of a large unknown aircraft
flying low

over the Los Padres
National Forest.

It'd about 42 miles
west of Bakersfield.

If they were flying
between Saint Lucia

and the Diablo Mountain Ranges,

that would explain why
they went undetected on radar.

Could be worth
checking out.
