We're doing a sound bath and I think a boat.

since I've been suffering from foot problems secretly in pain.

- The MRI showed a sprained ankle two weeks ago,

and now it's just completely bruised.

I'm dealing with some foot issues right now in my life.

He is sending me to the ER to get X-rays.

Honestly, I wasn't exactly looking forward to how awkward

it was gonna be between Erika and Sutton.

So maybe a little more time and a little more space

wouldn't hurt them... or us.

And I said no, because I didn't want him to go

underneath anesthesia, because after you have a TBI,

you shouldn't be put under anesthesia.

- What's TBI? - Traumatic brain injury.

- Oh, right. - You can't be knocked out.

And, you know, especially at that age.

- I think Erika is telling the truth.

I just--it's not all the information.

That's what makes it sometimes debatable.

I was there. And also too, this is happening in real time.

There was a competency hearing that I'm not a part of today.

So it's a--it's a real thing.

And, of course, when I saw him,

he was charismatic and engaging.

- I went to high school with Pat Wayne.

And we're drinking beer. About 1:00 in the morning

in comes this big guy, John Wayne.

- Now we're finding out that he is not really competent.

I'm confused.

- Is it hard for you to hear that he's incompetent?

- Yeah, you have to remember something, after this accident,

I was the first person that raised my hand and said,

"We have a problem here." And they blew me off.

- All of them, doctors, everybody.

So I've been living with this for years.

There's a lot of sh-- being said.

And I'm not gonna have someone call me a liar.

Right now, I'm just concerned about the idea

of staying off of my foot for this weekend.

Just because I'm strong doesn't mean that I don't have feelings

- So yesterday was the hearing for Tom's conservatorship

so that his brother could take over his affairs.

So someone sent me an article about what was said in court.

And there was just this one piece of it

that just really bothered me.

It says Tom's brother asked the court

to give him the authority to place Tom

in "a facility that treats neurocognitive disorders

such as dementia." Right? I don't want to have--

- To put him in a home? How do you feel about that?

- Girl, I'm ready to have a nervous breakdown,

because regardless of what is going on with him

legally, this is someone I was married to for 22 years.

- Of course. That's right.

- I knew this last night before we went to dinner, okay?

- Oh, you did? - I read this article.

- Oh.

- So I sat there with this last night.

- How is everybody tonight?

- I'm fearful.

- You're fearful? - Yeah.

- Last you saw him you dropped him off at the office.

And now to hear being put in a home.

Do you agree with that?

- No. - That level?

- And I'll tell you why, because

I have a little bit of experience with this.

My grandmother was put into a home shed, very bad dementia.

- That's right. - [inaudible].

The most beloved person in my life is my grandmother.

- Your grandparents would be very proud for you.

- I miss them.

I get accused of being cold, 'cause I don't cry.

This is a very difficult thing, because I watched

my grandmother die.

And to see this happen here again...

[chuckles]

When my grandmother was in her home,

you know, Tom paid for that.

- Did he? - Yes, he did.

He was there for my grandmother.

We have to remember that.

I think he needs a caretaker for sure.

- Right. - But I don't think

that he needs to be in a home like I saw my grandmother in.

I know what they do to you in there.

It's supposed to be great care.

But if they lash out, then they medicate you.

The only way is down is what I'm saying.

- Right, understood. - What is his life then?

- And who's gonna be visiting him if they're not

even coming around now? - It's another point.

- He's gonna be left alone there?

- Exactly. To do what? Rot? - Yipes.

- Where is this man's family? - Where are his children?

- Right. Where are his children?

- It feels like he is of no use to them.

And they don't want to deal with the alleged things that...

- That's right. They don't want the stain.

They don't want the public scrutiny.

They don't want being associated.

It is tragic all the way around.

- It really is just a nightmare all across the board.

- And every day it unfolds a little bit more and more.

You know, I've told you guys about the burglary.

I still don't know anything past he got out of surgery.

- They could have shot him. - They could have stabbed him.

They could have killed him.

They could have done anything to him.

- No matter what Tom has done allegedly or not,

there's a motherly connection

that Erika has wanting to protect him.

And I understand that as a mother.

- I may be getting a divorce from this man.

But that does not mean I have divorced myself

from caring for another human

being who clearly cannot care for themselves.

- I totally understand.

- And you're--you're worried about him, right?

- Wouldn't you be? - Yes, I absolutely would.

- No matter what, I can't be married to the man.

But I certainly don't want him in some facility

where he's not taken care of and discarded.

that I don't feel is okay.
