I race around the world seeking out Kairu.

Lokar has unleashed a dangerous Kairu: Shadow Kairu.

Shadow Kairu X-Drives contain powerful new attacks.

and monstrous warriors.

We must master both types of Kairu

to save the Earth from Lokar's Shadow.

My quest is to conquer the Kairu...

To one day become...

A Redakai!

Maya: Are we home yet?

Boomer: We're getting close.[yawn]

Good. I can't wait to drop off that orb to Master B,

then catch some serious...

[yawn]

[hissing buzz]

Welcome back, warriors.

It looks as if your last mission has left you quite weary.

Yup, we had to take the old X-Scaper red-eye to get back.

We wanted to get here as soon as we could

to tell you what we found while gathering the last Kairu.

Starting with this.

Very interesting.

What could this be?

We thought you might know.

Master: I've never seen an orb like this before.

I can sense the Kairu energy contained within,

but beyond that, it's a complete mystery.

And that's not the only mystery.

Master Baoddai, we think that Lokar is still alive

and that we were in his lair.

Hmmm.

And when I was there, I saw his reflection in a pool.

At least I'm pretty sure I did.

But when I turned to look, he was gone.

Yeah, but the Hiverax weren't gone.

Which makes us think that Lokar might be behind

those new creepy E-Teens.

This is grave news indeed.

Maya: And there's more.

I had another one of my visions and this one was of Lokar.

But I'm not sure what it means.

It means we should get back out there and look for Lokar.

Lokar will reveal himself in time if he did truly survive.

But rest assured, I am not taking this lightly.

I will alert the Redakai immediately.

I know that look.

Kairu energy?

Yes, I sense another deposit.

Rest can wait. We're on it!

Balistar: Boomer!

Did you capture more Kairu, Boomer?

Was it dangerous?

For today's lessons, I thought you should train

with some new monsters.

Yeah, I bet he has a killer Snuggle attack.

[laughter]

One of the first lessons you must learn about monsters

is that you should never judge them

by their outward appearances,

in your case, a cute fuzzy appearance.

[laughter]

[whirring]

♪ [dramatic]

Boomer: The Kairu should be just ahead.

Ky: I know it sounds crazy, guys,

but I swear I saw Lokar's reflection before.

Not doubting you, bro, but are you sure it wasn't

just some kind of trick of the light?

For our sake, and the world's, I hope so.

Maya: We did the only thing we can do

and that's tell Master Baoddai.

Yeah, and he's probably told the Redakai about it already.

They'll figure out what to do.

Ky: That's not good enough. What we need to do is

go back out there and look for Lokar

before it's too late.

Ky, we have to listen to Master Baoddai and leave it alone.

If Lokar is still alive, he'll reveal himself in time.

[gasp]

I see the Kairu.

That lily pad over there.

Boomer: Oh, great. It's in the pond.

Of course. And I didn't bring my trunks.

[splash]

It's not bad. At least we don't have to swim to get it.

[explosion]

Too bad you dodged my attack.

I was really looking forward to not having to work up a sweat

to get this Kairu.

Leave it to Team Radikor to be underhanded enough

to try a sneak Terror Eyes attack.

Fine, you want to make it all official?

Zane: Aw, you guys look so scared.

I almost feel bad for you.

Ky: Guys, we have to fight this fear off!

Finally! Maybe now you'll put up some kind of fight.

[rumbling]

OK, still not much of a fight.

Then how's this for a fight?

Looks like the more powerful the attack is,

the better it fends off the Shadow attacks.

Zane: Twice?

I can't believe I've been beaten twice!

Boomer, you shouldn't tease them.

So when do we learn how to make water do that?

Elemental manipulation takes years of practice.

I'm afraid it will be a while before you are able

to perform something like...this.

OK, this is eerie.

Is it just me, or is the monastery looking

more run-down than usual?

We weren't gone that long.

The Kairu orb...

it broke in half!

I don't know. But whatever it is,

I'm betting it has something to do with what's going on here.

The ground where the orb was laying, it's all grey,

powdery like all the life has been pulled out of it.

We should fan out, see if we can find--

Balistar: Over here!

What happened to Master Baoddai?

What's going on?

We don't know!

One minute Master Baoddai was showing us a water trick

and the next...

this weird, dark mist drifted right over him!

He tried to fight it, but it looked like it

drained all of his energy.

Balistar: And he just fell to the ground.

He's barely moved since.

I've seen this before.

It sounds like Shadow Kairu.

Wow, no way!

Wait...

what's Shadow Kairu?

Well, you know how Master B teaches us that Kairu energy

is positive and it runs through every living thing?

Shadow Kairu is the exact opposite.

It's dangerous and unpredictable.

So how are we going to help Master Baoddai?

And how do we stop the Shadow Kairu from doing to us

what it did to him?

I don't know, but we'd better figure it out pretty quickly.

[crackling thunder]

Oh, no!

[whoosh]

[snapping twigs]

So powerful!

[whoosh]

Guys! Master Baoddai's awake!

Master Baoddai, are you OK?

[very weak] You must fight this Shadow Mist together.

OK, I don't know how, but we have to stop this cloud

The mist is everywhere!

I'll try and slow it down with a green attack,

maybe buy us some time.

[rumbling]

OK, that was totally ineffective.

Maybe a blue attack will work.

Whirlwind!

Nothing seems to affect it!

Guys! This way!

OK. This is it.

We make our stand here.

Team Tiro, time for you to stack up.

OK, but we haven't practiced with our new monsters yet.

Ky: Now's your chance.

I guess it's trial by Shadow Kairu.

Now let's go kick some mist.

A blue attack didn't work earlier, so let's try a red one.

Maya: This doesn't look good, guys.

Nothing seems to faze it.

Let's see what you can do, Trisquad.

How 'bout a green attack?

It's hard to aim with all these arms and legs.

No time to worry about that.

Stop! The mist will only take you down, too.

Nobody or no mist, hurts my hero!

[growl]

Boomer: Whoa! Way to go, Pandor!

Sweet monster. Wanna trade?

Stay in close; don't let the mist touch you.

OK, so down is not an option.

But no matter how hard we hit the mist,

nothing seems to be able to stop it.

I guess that means we have to hit it even harder.

Platinum Metanoid!

[screech]

Unbelievable!

You're right, we have to hit it with everything we've got.

Wow, this shadow monster moves so fluidly,

it fits me like a glove!

The shadow energy from your attack

seems to be holding the other shadow energy at bay.

Now's my chance to blast it!

OK, I'm only going to get one shot.

Time to go big.

I'll combine Platinum Fire and Platinum Blade to make...

All right, Ky!

Yeah, he did it!

You actually managed to keep the mist from advancing.

Let's get outta here!

Not yet, we still have to stop this mist,

or they'll destroy the monastery and who knows what else.

Everyone, quickly, use your X-Readers

and drain the energy from the mist,

just like you do with a Kairu relic.

Riiiiight, and how do we do that exactly?

[sigh] Point. Drain.

Um, is this what normally happens?

No, there's just so much energy!

Gia: Boomer! Master Baoddai!

Ky: Wow, now that was close.

A little too close.

I was tired before, but that felt like I'd never move again.

Yes, excellent work.

You have beaten back the Shadow Kairu.

For now at least...

Hey, I got a new monster.

It's a Shadow Monster... Darkroot!

That's weird...

It already seems so familiar.

[rushing water]

♪ [peaceful]

[birds chirping]

And then I used Pandor to attack

and it actually worked out.

That was pretty cool.

You can't judge a monster by its furry cover!

[laugh]

Master Baoddai, you've got to let us get some relaxation in

before we clean up and do the repairs to the monastery.

[yawn] You know, a nap sounds like a great idea.

I don't think I've quite recovered

from the energy drain yet.

But first...

I would just like to congratulate all of you,

both Team Stax and Team Tiro,

for working together to defeat the Shadow Energy.

You know, beating the Hiverax last time

really was pretty easy.

I wonder if they lost on purpose

just so they could get this orb into our hands.

If so, this was a very devious plan,

which may be the clearest indicator so far

that Lokar has returned.

As you all learned today, Shadow Kairu is very powerful,

but still a mystery.

There's no telling what it is able to do.

We must be diligent.

We must stop it.

We will.

Of course.

You can bet on it.

And you can bet we'll be right there with you.

Ky: Balistar wasn't very excited

when he received Pandor.

Little did he know that this monster packs a punch.

Pandor supercharges attacks and he gave me the opening

to hit the mist with my ultimate combo attack:
