I want to be around my friend during this time.

that's associated with this.

One of the partners at his law firm left

because his wife told the partner,

- Stop it. - I can't make this up.

"You need to leave this firm."

- When was that? - And she knew about it.

Ten years ago.

Who knows, but it was just a huge red flag for me.

We know his son-in-law left.

And then the son-in-law left.

- The son-in-law just left. - Yeah.

Recently.

So do you feel like

you've been told the truth?

No.

- Do you not believe Erika? - I think she has lied to us.

- You do? - I do.

And it started with the three years ago head injury

that was a broken ankle.

Wait, he had a car accident a few years ago.

- Right. - Three years ago.

He was also unconscious for 12 hours...

He was?

Being told he had a broken ankle,

then hearing this later is a little weird.

There's stuff that's not adding up to me.

There are some, you know...

- Discrepancies. - Yeah.

There are, because I felt like

when we were on the mountain, it was very clear to me

- that it all started... - Three years ago.

- When he had the accident. - Absolutely.

he had a terrible, terrible head injury.

And there was a significant shift

in his personality,

his decision-making, and who he is.

And then reading the article,

it didn't start three years ago.

I don't buy it.

I don't buy the three-year package... I'm not buying it.

Since we've been back home from La Quinta, the articles...

I'm right there with you. It's all prior.

- to what information... - Right, to the three years.

Erika said that there was a decline

in his mental state for the last three years.

And the "LA Times" article

suggests this has been going on for longer.

And you start to wonder, my goodness,

I've known this person for so long

and never had any idea that any of this was going on.

And so you don't know what to believe.

So ten years ago is when it started to be found out

that he was not paying settlement money.

- Right. - And Erika is suggesting

that three years ago there was

- this pivotal accident... - Correct.

- That changed... - Yes, changed everything.

- Everything. - And then his attorneys

are now saying that he is

mentally incapable over the last three years.

Erika is saying the exact same thing

the lawyers are saying,

but yet there is evidence to show...

- I think they've talked. - Well, here's...

Whoa.

- Who? Erika and Tom's lawyers? - Mm-hmm.

- Really? - Is that a coincidence

that both Erika and Tom's attorney

had the same story?

I'm just saying two plus two equals four,

and I'm not even good at math.

I'm having a hard time being her friend

because this speaks a lot to character and integrity.

I want to be careful in my dealings.

There cannot be a blind support,

about Erika's life is actually the diametrical opposite.

She didn't portray that they had anything

When she talked about him, she talked about the man

that was there for the little people

who was the one who was defending the little people.

I wanted to be a lawyer

when I was a little girl.

I fantasized about being a lawyer.

I love everything about it.

It's great, and it's so exciting.

And I don't care if it's over $5,000

or $500 million, you do some good.

But Tom misappropriated

at least $2 million of funds of orphans' and widows' money.

- That is sickening to me. - You just can't even imagine.

This is three pages of attorney stuff.

The burn victim from 2010, the settlement was $12 million.

The burn victim got $1 million,

and so now this guy's family filed a lawsuit

and listed on the lawsuit Jordy's accountant,

the travel agent, Erika.

- Wow. - Do people think it's hidden

or they think it's actually all gone?

What do you think they did?

They buried it somewhere?

- That's a lot of money. - The question is,

did Erika know about these things, or did she not?

I don't think that ignorance is an excuse.

I just don't, when she's so smart.

To be honest, that whole mistress thing

and all of that is beneath any of us.

Think about this. You guys, in the beginning,

the first little trickle that came out,

she said people started disappearing,

and then start learning who your friends are.

And I said to her,

"Well, I'm here through the hard times.

I'm not only here for the good times."

You would be shocked

at how quickly people turn on you.

They were there when it was good, though.

If people are leaving when it's not a good time,

I'm not that friend.

I know, I know, I know.

I mean, yes, I'm here if you've lost all your money,

I'm here if your husband cheated on you.

I'm here if you're getting divorced,

but if there's any connection, you know...

Yes, then **** you.

You knew what was going on here, I need to know that.

Because guess what? That's a very different story.

I need to be thinking about myself, my family.

I would like to have the conversation with Erika.

I'm happy to do that.

And especially for the reasons that you just presented.

The only way to make that clear

That was a really hard time in our life,

a really, really difficult time and I still feel guilty.

Looking back, I'm like, "Did I give you

too much freedom? Did I miss the signs?"

You guys were the best.

I was just hanging out with the wrong people

and my whole judgment, my whole way of thinking...
