Today's story has to do with Peach Boy.

Clear up the mystery of the legend!

A dog, pheasant, monkey, and even an ogre appear!

He sees through the one and only truth.

A child in appearance with the I.Q. of an adult.

His name is Detective Conan!

-"Peach Boy!" -"Peach Boy!"

"Those sweets you have hanging on your hip..."

"I'd like to have one, too..."

Huh? Peach Boy?

According to the legend of "Peach Boy",

around the middle of the 7th Century, in order to defeat Ura,

the demon that had come from a foreign land

to carry out a countless number of atrocities,

the Yamato Court sends out a gallant and renown warrior called

Kibitsuhiko-no-Mikoto.

It is said that this story is based on the battle between these two.

But that is not the fact.

The fact is in the year 663,

as stated also in the Chronicles of Japan,

the Japanese Yamato military that lost in the Battle of Hakusukinoe,

built fortifications one after the other

to prepare against the attacks of enemy forces.

This story seems to be related to one of the fortifications,

Kinnojyo and Kibitsu in Okayama Prefecture where the castle is located.

It seems that here, in Kibitsu, was where the legend began.

There are many ancient tombs in Kibitsuji.

Of course they reflect the culture of those times.

As well as the memories of various people.

"Peach Boy Mystery Solving Tour (Part 1)"

When one thinks of Okayama,

what comes to mind is "Peach Boy", right?

And "Peach Boy" also brings to mind...

Millet dumpling!

Everything is food to you, isn't it, Genta?

A dog, right?

-A pheasant! -Monkey!

-And the demons of Demon's Island! -And the demons of Demon's Island!

Well true, but...

After all, this is a weekend trip as well as a history study tour.

Yes, we studied beforehand for this.

So please be more professional.

Or that's what I'd like to say,

but first of all, I want to eat some Mamakari!

Gosh! Not you, too!

Sorry. I'm sorry!

We've arrived in Okayama!

We're transferring to the Sanyo main line next!

Hurry, hurry!

Hey, you don't have to rush so much.

The train's already here!

Kurashiki is famous for its fine sight landscape of white walls.

Yes, it's what travel-loving girls admire.

But before that, this is where I want to go.

-Hello! -Hello!

Chibori Park...

That's enough, Seiko!

What makes you think you can talk to me like that, Saruwatari?

You got to go independent because I wrote an article for you.

Just how much do you think I had to pay you for...

I went out of my way to give you "classmate discount".

You got to be kidding!

Are you all right, Ayumi?

Look what you did to Ayumi!

I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

Are you all right? I'm so sorry.

I hope you're not hurt, are you?

Thank you so much.

No. We're sorry and embarrassed for acting so childish.

I feel bad.

You're right.

I'll bet you're feeling really lucky.

Hey, did you both apologize?

Yes.

Little lady, does the ice cream we bought for you taste good?

Yes, it's delicious!

I'm glad!

That's no way to apologize, is it?

You're all friends, aren't you?

I don't think it's good to fight.

Friends, huh?

It's true that we're classmates since our elementary school days.

But some live in Osaka and others in Tokyo now.

So, it's been about 15 years since we've seen each other.

The last time we saw each other was when we were just about your age.

Which means, it's your class reunion?

Sort of.

I'm sorry, my name is Agasa.

I'm their chaperone, or rather, I'm escorting the children on their trip.

I'm Ayumi. Ayumi Yoshida!

I'm Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya!

I'm Genta Kojima!

I'm Conan Edogawa.

We're members of the Youth Detective Squad...

"Naoto Momoi (27)" -What a polite introduction.

I'm Naoto Momoi.

"Yayoi Kijima (27)" -I'm Yayoi Kijima. Nice to meet you.

"Kengo Saruwatari (27)" -From this side, he's Kengo Saruwatari,

-Seiko Inui. -Hi!

"Mamoru Onitsura (27)" -And Mamoru Onitsura.

Youth Detective Squad?

We named our group something like that, too.

And we're gathered because...

I'll tell you!

After all, it's what I proposed to begin with.

We got together this time to support Momoi's candidacy

and also to congratulate his marriage to Yayoi!

Amazing! You're going to be running in the election.

And getting married, too?

Congratulations!

Thank you.

Peach Boy and the pheasant are going to get married.

-So you noticed too, Mitsuhiko? -Yes.

You guys are like "Peach Boy".

What's this about?

Their names, right?

The first two letters of their names

are characters that appear in "Peach Boy".

Peach, pheasant, monkey, dog, and demon...

Just as expected of the Youth Detective Squad.

That's why we acted out "Peach Boy" in our school play because of it.

Talk about old story.

How nostalgic.

But back then, the stage and interpretation were good.

Especially Shunya.

Shunya?

Never mind about the past.

By the way, what now?

I'm thinking of all kinds of things.

Tomorrow we go treasure hunting, right?

Huh? Right.

Treasure hunting?

That's new to me.

I'll explain it at dinner time.

Until then, it's free time.

I guess that's it for now then.

Bye, little lady!

I guess we should get going, too.

This is Kurashiki.

How nice!

The view has been kept as it was in the Edo period.

Right, Doc?

Yes. Most of those warehouses were built by the merchants back then.

They used to transport all kinds of merchandise

sailing their ships into Kurashiki River.

The pasted roof tiles on the east side of this Kurashiki Archaeology Museum

are said to be one of the most beautiful in this fine sights district.

All the things exhibited here are things excavated from the tombs and ruins

of the districts of Kurashiki, Kibitsu and the entire Seto Inland area.

There sure is a lot to learn.

Coming in touch with culture of the past...

Can be useful.

But this is the best after all!

It's delicious.

It's Mamakari after all.

"Mama carry the food over to me."

There he goes again.

A peach?

-A peach? -It's a peach, like in "Peach Boy"!

Amazing!

You got to be kidding.

We've almost got it!

-Genta! -Hang in there!

Hey! Hold on tight!

Be careful.

I didn't think it would be real, but...

And inside we find...

Envelopes?

Inside the envelope is...

What's this?

Maybe it's a code!

A code?

If it is, it isn't something all that difficult.

It's elementary school level.

But it's something worth studying because we're here!

We'll solve the code and excavate a tomb.

Maybe we'll be able to find the treasure on Demon's Island!

-Really? -We'll resolve the "Peach Boy" legend!

Let's do it! Let's do it!

Hey, hey.

Then I'll go rest somewhere nearby.

All of you give it your best.

I'll leave the rest up to you, Shinichi.

Is this your doing, Doc?

No. I know nothing of it. It's not me.

But studying should be fun.

What great educational material to study with. How lucky.

See you.

Give me a break.

Okay, the Youth Detective Squad launches Operation Treasure Hunt!

Hey!

What's with this picture?

On its eyes. This eyelash?

Fire, maybe?

Conan.

Huh? Oh, that's a very natural way to look at it.

Fire and eye stands for...

Fire and eye...

Fire and eye!

It's the Hinomi Yagura (watch tower)!

Did you find anything?

Did you find something?

This is...

Did you find it, Conan?

Yes.

The treasure.

Open it! Open it!

What's this? It's just filled with junk!

It's out of battery, too.

At the least, it's no treasure.

What are you looking at, Conan?

6 years was a lot of fun.

All except for that one incident.

What does "that" refer to?

Beats me.

Maybe this is a time capsule.

-Time capsule? Really? -Time capsule? Are you sure?

If this is somebody's time capsule,

I wonder if it's okay that we dug it up?

Of course it's not okay.

But it's obvious that somebody has already dug this up before us.

Maybe this is...

Our rival treasure hunters?

If so, we can't let them beat us!

Let's hurry and solve the next code, Conan!

A picture of a house and the alphabets "P, I, B, T, I, J,".

Just what does it mean? I can't make it out at all.

Well, this is super basic of codes.

So what is it?

You move each alphabet to the front one by one.

Which means, it's before "P".

-So, "O"? -Right!

The next alphabet before "I" is "H", right?

Next...

Ohashi?

The chopsticks you use when eating?

No, it's probably the name of a place.

Somewhere near Kurashiki here...

You children. What are you doing?

I guess we meet again.

Well, we were trying to solve a code.

What brings you here?

Aren't you going around with the rest of your group?

Yes, well...

I'm not very well liked by everybody.

You saw for yourselves just a while ago, didn't you?

But why not? You're all classmates, aren't you?

Since long way back in the past, I could never lie.

The article I was planning for Mr. Onitsura's company

was all about his underhanded moneylending.

Even when Mr. Saruwatari went independent and opened his own beauty salon,

I honestly wrote how good I thought he was.

I mean, I can't help it because he's not good.

Then, Yayoi...

I ended up fighting for Mr. Momoi with her.

We were going with each other until recently.

Him and I.

I see, that's why something about them was awkward.

Isn't Shunya coming?

You're sure sharp, renown detective!

I remember you saying that he was in charge of making the script

and interpretation of the "Peach Boy" play that you put on.

Of course, we would've called him,

if he were alive.

You mean he passed away?

15 years ago in a traffic accident, so we couldn't graduate together.

Poor thing.

He was full of justice and a really good boy.

Sorry, sorry, it's this dark already.

I'll see you all again.

Hang in there, Youth Detective Squad!

Here it is! We've found it!

Ohashi.

An old house!

It sort of sounds like something in a samurai movie.

If I remember correctly, after the development of Shioda,

this Ohashi residence became a great landowner.

This house is said to be about 200 years old.

Amazing, Mitsuhiko!

Well, it's really no big deal.

I'm glad I did some studying beforehand.

Okay, let's search!

I found it! I found it!

Not again.

-It's already been dug up. -Treasure...

Not this again.

Old comics.

And old stationery.

Not "that" again.

I'm sure that somebody is beating us to it!

Okay, next!

The square face of a clown?

What was it called? That symbol used with cell phones?

You mean, pictographics!

Right!

This is lower case "t",

this is lower case "u", this is "t" too, and...

This is "a", but I wonder why it's reversed?

T-u-t-a (Ivy).

You mean, ivy, the plant?

Tsuta is ivy in English.

The next word is "square".

I got it!

Over there, over there!

Kurashiki Ivy Square! Over here.

-Ivy! -Right?

How spacious!

This used to be a spinning factory.

It seems that the buildings back then are being used as is,

and turned into hotels and memorial halls.

Okay, let's start!

Okay...

There's nothing that looks like treasure anywhere.

What the heck is going on?

I get it.

Not only the "a" is reversed,

everything is in the back.

Which means, it is in back of this Ivy Square.

I see! Behind!

I found it! I found it!

Did you find the treasure?

This again.

This stuffs again?

Talk about depressing.

This is no fun.

It's that lady.

No good. She's not breathing anymore.

A dying message.

O, N, I. Oni (ogre)?

Oni?

-The killer is an ogre. Like in "Peach Boy"! -Oh, no!

So you're the ones who found her.

The Youth Detective Squad...

There they go again.

If the killer is an ogre...

We'll be Peach Boy...

And punish, rather arrest him!

Good grief.

Excuse me, sir. Is that the belongings of the victim?

What? Oh, right.

Huh? Over there, something's not right, is it?

That stamp.

Why is it reversed?

Beats me.

So what?

Well, it's nothing.

Sorry to have bothered you.

So being friends of the victim, the four were interrogated by the police.

Which means that none of you has an alibi.

To put it more accurately, I was alone.

Like I said, there were a lot of people at Chibori Park,

so there must be somebody who remembers seeing me.

Same here.

I was in the lobby of the hotel that I'm staying at.

There were a lot of people there, too.

Unfortunately, it would be difficult to verify your situation.

I guess we don't have a problem, then?

We were together all the while.

You were walking along the fine sights district, you say?

Yes, sir. We were together all the say.

The only time we were alone was when we went to the bathroom.

Even so, we weren't separated for more than five minutes.

I don't mean to be rude,

but we can't take the testimony of a fiance just like that.

Moreover, our investigation shows that you were going with the victim, too.

That's...

The other two seem to have had some trouble with the victim, too.

Officer Tsuyama, they're here.

Is that the container that the peach was inside?

Yes. It may have nothing to do with the incident,

but we contacted you because we thought we should let you know about it.

It's not that we wanted to report this,

but we figured we had to cooperate with your investigation.

Is that...

Our time capsule with the code we entered?

What a surprise.

The code was what specified the place

in which they hid their time capsules 15 years ago.

15 years ago, they put things their precious items inside a time capsule

and after exchanging them,

each person buried a capsule other than his own.

They make it so that the owners didn't know where it was buried.

That's the reason why they were able to leave their true feelings behind.

The fact is that last night the elementary school

that you all attended was raided by someone.

This container was also included among the things that were damaged.

Then, we received word from them that they picked this up.

It must be some work of fate that we ran into you guys.

But what are you going to do stealing something like that?

That's why you threw it away, right?

Because you figured it won't bring you any money.

Then, is this how it went, officer?

Seiko, as a journalist happened to figure out

who the culprit that raided the school was and was killed instead.

-No. -That's unthinkable.

We're looking at it from a different angle.

Mr. Onitsura.

No! I didn't do it. I'm innocent!

Don't get me wrong. At this point you're still only a major witness.

Then, why am I the only who is being detained?

How would you explain this dying message?

It seems that you were holding a grudge against the victim

since she wrote an article about you that you didn't like.

Hey, do you really think Mamoru did it?

Cut it out, Saruwatari!

Could be.

How dare you talk like that, Momoi?

These days,

it's not surprising who kills who.

This is no time to be treasure hunting.

So the killer is an ogre after all.

I sure wish we could catch it!

Genta, you're holding the silverware with wrong hands!

Hold the knife with your right hand and your fork with your left.

What's the different? After all, I'm right handed.

So I want to hold my fork with my right hand.

Do you want to ask for chopsticks?

Why didn't you do so in the first place, Doc?

I see. So that's it.

If so, the contents of the dying message would change.

Now I'm sure,

the killer is among the four of them!

But in order to specify who it is,

the remaining two codes will have to be solved

and the buried time capsule needs to be found.

Next Conan's Hint:

"Left-handed"

In the next episode, we finally defeat the ogre!

Conan, give me some more millet dumplings.
