And told Mr. Hirai to go repair the fence.

Mr. Kondou saw us go, and then,

he ran into the path in the back of the office to short cut us.

The climbers' path to the view point is the long way around,

so it wouldn't have been difficult for him to get there before us

if he ran straight through the mountain.

Then he ambushed Mr. Hirai, knocked him out,

and put him on the tree beneath the view point.

He waited for us to arrive,

then took the rope that he had tied onto the fence,
