I have a hunting partner

I'm hunting for rabbits,
quail, that sort of thing.

while we went out
and hunted with the falcon.

I definitely have
an ingrained

sense of adventure.

I spend tons
of my recreational time

spearfishing,
so I have a lot of experience

dealing with predators
in the water.

I feel like
I'm pretty prepared for this.

I know I have a partner,
but I'm confident

I could survive by myself.

I'm confident I would
enjoy it even by myself.

And I'm definitely
going to draw

on a lot of the skills
I've acquired.

And I really wanna do this

because I want my kids
and my grandkids

to one day look back
and just say,

"wow, he was a survivor.
He was crazy."

I might be overly confident,

but I'm definitely
not gonna tap out.

darvil has a wide
range of survival skills,

but his introverted demeanor
may make working

with a partner difficult.

I'm really excited
to start figuring out

what I need to do
in a survival situation.

This type of deadfall trap
is called a paiute.

named after
the paiute indians,

this simple deadfall trap
consists of two notched
support sticks,

cordage holds
the weight of the rock

attached to a toggle stick,

which is then held in place
by a baited trigger stick.

Once the stick is disturbed,

the trap is activated

and flattens
whatever is underneath.

We're using bark that we've
soaked in the water.

and they think they're just

they go into the trap

and then it's just tricky
to get out.

This experience has been
absolutely life-changing.

I never honestly thought
that I can like accomplish

something like this,
like, it's so, so amazing.

I feel like I've definitely
became a new person out here

and I think it's like
a better version of me.

We're badasses
and I'm so proud of us.

I've never felt more proud of
myself my whole entire life,

to actually feel
like I did this for me.

I learned
how to speak my mind

and I came out of it on top.

Like, I don't think there's
a feeling that can compare.

It feels
really freaking good.

Even though I'm very happy
to leave,

I'm also very grateful
for this place.

I'm really gonna try hard
to hang on to that sense

of humility
and remember that feeling.

I think it would benefit me
