In this movie, we will discuss
how not having a clear sequence of shots

or failing to introduce
the scene to the viewers at the right

time can be very confusing.

First, let's check the sequence.

We know

this was unintentionally
confusing sequence.

We wanted to show something
fast and violent.

Now let's break down
the sequence of shots.

We start with several close ups
that withhold key visual information

from the viewer
by using a very shallow depth of field.

We blurred the background
that was irrelevant to the story

and obscured the guy with an ax.

By positioning the camera
at a low vantage point.

We also made him look more imposing.

As you probably noticed,
this particular sequence

does not contain an establishing shot.

So we don't really know where
the action is taking place.

Let's see what

happens if we simply add the missing
establishing

shot.

Are you still confused?

I don't think so.

We see the couple
and very quickly understand, Where are we?

What are we doing?

Using the same exact shots
from the beginning of the movie,

but in a more organized sequence.

We go from an establishing shot
to a completely destroyed

watermelon closeup.

The lesson here is the importance
of giving the viewer enough clues

to determine the structure of the plot
and then other details to enhance it.
