Most of the time when we are
shooting a sequence, we strive to retain

the correct proportions and shapes
of the objects and objects in general.

We don't want our skyscrapers
arching precariously across the sky

or our subjects to have stretch features
on the periphery of the frame.

But sometimes intentionally warping
the perspective of a shot

can work to enhance a particular element
in the context of the piece.

Let's take a look at some examples.

By using a wide angle

fisheye lens,
we can skew the sense of scale and infuse

an everyday object
with a warped significance.

In this scene, we see a man

trying to get his friend
to take a bite of a strawberry.

She is allergic and uneasy.

By dramatically
distorting the size of the strawberry.

We are able to identify the source
of her anxiety and fear in the same way

that we might choose to distort the face
of someone who is genuinely scary.
