All language subtitles for 19 Split Sketch Entities

This is tutorial number 19 and it covers how to split sketch entities within KTAV5.

To start off open up a new part file and once you have let's go into the sketcher.

So click sketch and click any plane.

So in this tutorial I'm going to show you how to use the break command and what that is is it's going to split all the sketch entities for you.

So to show you what I mean what we're going to do is we're going to sketch out a rectangle

and let's dimension this.

So let's dimension it to 50 by 100.

Now with the break what we're able to do is put a point and break this line into two different lines.

So the reasoning behind this is now we'll have like a point that you're able to snap when you're drawing another line to it.

So say I have a line here and I'm trying to draw a line onto here.

It's always going to be on the line but then you have the midpoint and that's a hard point.

So what we're going to do is we're going to add these kinds of hard points to this sketch.

So let's delete this guy and let's add a hard point. So click here and just click any of the lines.

And once you've clicked the line click anywhere on it and that's where you put your hard point.

So now we put that hard point at the top there and if we go to draw that line again we'll have no hard points, the midpoint and then we'll have that end point there.

Now you're able to move around that hard point that we put in so let's dimension it.

Click that point and click this line up here and you're able to move it around.

So let's make it 20 and now it's down to 20.

So let's make a sketch that's here and touching that hard point.

Now we're able to move around this dimension and that line's going to follow.

So now what we've done is we've created a hard point on that line.

We've broken that line up and now we're able to dimension and kind of move everything around.

So let's put this back to 25.

So now with these hard points you're able to kind of add another aspect and another dimension when you're dimensioning your parts and everything together.

Now we can do this with a circle too. So let's draw out a circle and let's break it.

So click there. Click on the circle. Now anywhere on the circle.

Now we've added another hard point there onto that circle.

So let's click this point here and let's find that hard point and click that hard point.

So now again we're able to move around that hard point on the surface of the circle.

So if you rotate it around you're able to move it.

Now let's delete this line.

So when you go to break it you're able to break up a line and you're able to put that hard point in.

So that hard point you're then able to move around in your sketch and you're able to make other sketches come and snap onto those hard points.
