there's an eye the background.

I feel that this is an important part
of the painting,

and will do much to help sell recruits.

It's the watchful eye
of the Marine behind the Marine.

The backbone of the Corps... the sergeant.

This eye represents that man.

And it happens to be the eye
of Gomer's own platoon sergeant.

The man who molded Gomer
into a Marine... Sergeant Carter.

Is that my eye? Really?

Yes, it is.

I think it makes the picture.

There is a resemblance.
