Now, just before we do start getting into all these different traffic methods, there are three things
that I want to set up so that you are ready to receive the traffic, understand where it's coming from,
what it's doing when it actually gets on your site.
And just to capture a little bit of information that we can use in the future.
So what am I talking about?
We've got three upcoming lectures, this one right now, which is called analytics.
So we're going to delve a little bit into analytics so you can see where traffic is coming from.
In the next lecture, we're going to use a piece of software called Lucky Orange, funny name, but
a Lucky Orange so that you can see what people are actually doing on your site.
And then in the lecture after that, I'm going to show you how you can easily capture an email address
so that you can use it for all powerful email marketing later on down the road.
That's coming up in the course, but not for right now.
So don't worry, these are all pretty straightforward to set up, but it's really good to have it established
so that you are ready for what's about to happen.
So let's get going with the subject of this lecture, which is analytics.
Now, the amazing thing here is you already have all the analytics built in to your Shopify platform
for free, and I'm sure you've noticed this analytics over here in the menu.
And if you click on this, you're going to get all kinds of statistics about your store.
Now, one of the things I would say about analytics is that you can have so many statistics, you can
generally get very, very lost in it.
Okay.
And what Shopify has done here is it's giving you the key analytics.
I mean, I would say it's not the most comprehensive piece of analytics software.
They're out there, there are others which are better.
But right now just getting started.
This is absolutely perfect and the things that you'll want to concentrate on as you go forward and more
things like this.
So online store sessions by location, so where your traffic is actually coming from and then all nine
store sessions by traffic source, what are the traffic sources that are most effective?
All right.
So all of this information here will be incredibly useful for you going forward.
So as you start to build out your traffic techniques, you'll want to start referring to this more and
more, which is going to help you make intelligent decisions about what's working best.
Now there are a couple of other tabs down here.
You have reports and live view reports is something you want to delve into.
As you get more and more information, you'll be able to get more and more precise information about
what's going on.
So for example, here with acquisition, you can increase visitor engagement by knowing where your visitors
are coming from.
Okay, fantastic.
And measuring the success of your campaigns.
So in other words, you might have a traffic source that is working really well, that's working much
better than another one.
You might therefore want to focus on that more than the others.
Okay, but all in good time.
You don't need to worry about it right now.
All I want to do is make you aware of what's possible.
The last one here is live view.
Now for me, quite frankly, this is more kind of just a bit of fun, really.
It tells you exactly who's on your site from anywhere in the world.
Okay.
So kind of a nice to have, but I would say not absolutely essential.
So really for analytics, that's it.
You already have everything built in to Shopify that you can use for everything you need going forward.
