But there's more
to this work than traveling and

making appearances.

The day-to-day can be

traumatizing.

To be the only person in the room
who looks like you,

the only person forced
to deal with the daily microaggressions

that wear away at you.

I mean, it's stressful, man,

and lonely,

and exhausting.

I'm tired of doing these panels,

'cause I'm the only one who can.

Now for a long time,

I pretended to be fine with it.

Honestly,

it makes me angry,

and I'm learning to listen to that anger,

because it tells you that

even though all of these people
are smiling in your face,

something is very wrong here.
