Before all this
happened I was a skeptic.

Until I had proof.
And now I do.

I don't think that
I had anyway to even stop
something that big.

It was instant fear.

Okay. Time for some hotdogs.

That night was one
of the scariest moments
I've ever had in my life.

to get its attention.

- What is it?
- I don't know.

It had, like,
a dog shaped face.

Whatever it was, was on two
legs.

Ahhh!

I was scared to death.

Never really had a...
A fear of being in the woods.

Not until, you know, this all
started to occur.

I live in
Adel, Georgia.
With my Mother and my Father.

My name is John McDaniel.

I am Blake McDaniel's father.

Before this happened.

It didn't bother me at all to
walk wherever I wanted
to in the woods.

You okay?

But, this is nothing
like I've every experience
in the woods. Never.

Yeah I...
Just thought I heard...
Oh, nothing.

The woods start
behind the house.

They go on for several
thousands of acres.

When we first moved there
10 years ago. It was
really peaceful.

But all of these crazy and
terrifying encounters.
They've...they've...

All happened over the course
of just under four years.

There was one
particular afternoon.
I was outside.

Suddenly there's no birds,
no bugs, it's just quiet.

I heard an unusual bird sound.

It echoed across the yard.
From behind the house
and the woods.

I'm very familiar with
the wildlife in this area.
And I'd never heard a bird

that sounded like that.

Hello?

Come out. I know you're there.

My first impression was that
it could have been someone

playing a, you know,
a joke on me. But

it became pretty
apparent, soon, that
it was something else.

There was just something
in the atmosphere.
Like it...It changed.

I felt like there
was danger nearby.

Everything started to really
progress after that moment.

There was one night
when I was outside.

And I remember hearing
it was the sound of

a limb snapping, like, if
something was to break
it in its hands.

The further back you go it
just gets even more dense.

That something could
easily hide back there.
And you'd never see it.

I could hear a lot of rustling
around out in the woods.

I was going through
all the different things
that it could be.

But they were
coming up closer.

That's when I would know that
what I was hearing was not
just a normal animal.

Because any other
animal goes away.

I would see some movements.

It sounded like it's
just destroying the woods.

Sounds of splintering wood
and just destruction.

I heard a very deep
and bellowing howl.

The tree limbs snapping
and breaking.

It became the sound of
something running directly
towards me.

It was instant fear.

I ran inside
the house.

I started to research all
the sounds that I was hearing.

The howl. The bird calls.

Trying to see if I could
match it to any sounds.
On different documentaries.

All the sounds that I was able
to match to what I was hearing
was that of a bigfoot.

You okay, Son?

I heard something making
sounds in the woods.

And, uh, it felt like I was
being watched.

By something, you know,
other than an animal.

So I went on out
there with Blake.

And I tried to investigate
a little to figure out exactly
what it was.

This time
it's just quiet.

And there was just so much
destruction in our woods.

Smaller trees had all
been pulled down into a circle
towards each other.

All bent over. Not totally
torn down, but dent over like
they were tied to the ground.

All of it right there
neatly together it almost

seemed like it
was constructed.

I had no idea what it was.
But I knew that it was not
done by Mother Nature.

It definitely
unnerved me a lot.

To know that something
was out there that could
do something like that.

One afternoon, I saw
where the trees were moving.

Looked like something was
trying to rip the trees

with brute force to...
To knock them down.

I believed that we could
be in jeopardy and I wasn't
taking any chances.

And I didn't know that a gun
would do any good against
something like that.

But, it gives you a
little comfort level.

When I did have
a gun with me.

The sounds of destruction
got so much louder.

Carrying a gun was met
with an aggressive response.

Dad. Lower your gun.

It was a very unnerving
feeling. Because how do you

go about dealing with
it, you know, what do I do?

I can't just go out
there and shoot it

It was making its presence
known. And that I needed
to stay out of its way.

It was in that moment that I
decided to get as much
evidence of it as I could.

I went out and I bought
the infrared camera.

- How's it going?
- Oh, good.

My mom, she tells me, don't go
messing with him. Or don't go
out there messing with him.

But I had to know for myself.
And for my mother
and my father

To see what this was.

So I had it so I could
actually be watching
the camera feed

from inside the house.

It was exciting and it was
scary at the same time.

But I was determined.

I wanted him
to be careful.

That he don't do something
to get himself in jeopardy
with him.

But, if he wants to
investigate him.
I think it's a good idea.

That we really know
what we're dealing with.

There was one night
when I was sitting on our back
patio taking on the phone.

Hey there's something--

Gotta go.

I could hear these
guttural breaths.

It sounded as if it was
coming out of the woods.

Whatever it was, I thought
that I needed to try and lure
it to the camera.

I didn't see anything.
So I turn to go in the house.

When I turned and looked
this time. I was able to see
a large black shadow.

It was too big
to be any person.

I started to notice
there was green pupils.

My heart sank because
it was very unnatural.

I was so scared.
I didn't want it to charge me.

I was almost sure at
that point I was dealing
with a Bigfoot.

What do I do?
I don't think that I had

anyway to to even
stop something that big.

And then suddenly
it was on the move.

I remember shutting the door
and just bracing myself.
I thought that

this thing is so big.
If it...If it ran through
the door it wouldn't...

It wouldn't even hold it back.
It would just run right
through me and the door.

And I bring up the camera app.

And, uh, I set to watching
it instead. From inside
the house.

I started to notice
the movement where the tree
line starts to the woods.

What I was seeing with
my eyes was also showing
up on the camera.

I could see the shadow
and it...

It didn't really have much
of a neck, it just kind of
tapered up to a point.

But I could tell that it
was a head and a body.

It went back into the woods.

I was scared. But when I
went back outside it had gone.

And the next morning
I showed my family.

Come on. Look at this.

I think their initial reaction
was...It was a shock.

Right there.

Something was
standing there just in
the edge of the woods.

I felt, if I had a gone into
the woods that day.

My life could have possible
been in danger.

Possibly a Bigfoot
was out there.

I had contacted the BFRO.
Which is The Bigfoot
Research Organization.

To do a investigation
of our property.

The first night that
they came. We walked through
the woods and the trail.

And we started to hear
something approaching us.

You could hear the footfalls.
But it was from two
different directions.

It was in that moment
I realized that there was
more than one.

And then it would be quiet
for just a moment.

There's one
over there.

He followed
one of them.

And I had went out towards
where I heard that sound.

I could tell that they
were coming up closer.

Just knowing that something
like that was heading towards
me. I was really scared.

There was nowhere
for me to go.

Let's get
out of here.

He didn't get close enough
to cause any harm.

But it was definitely
something that made
it in the report.

I absolutely believe
the creatures trying to claim
the territory for itself.

They wanna live there
and not be disturbed.

My mother, my Father.
They stopped going out into
the woods shortly after that.

And I would review the camera
feed as much as I could.

To try and keep
everything updated.

I made it my mission to get
these creatures on video.

A few weeks went by
before I saw it again.

I was working outside
and just happened
to look up and noticed

that I was being watched.

I had never seen one
in the daylight
like that before.

And all I could do
was take my phone out
and start videoing him.

It was solid black
and it was standing,
it was staring at me.

It appeared to be a juvenile.
It didn't have that mass
and girth to the shoulders.

It was smaller
than the big one.

But smaller is still
a lot bigger than me.

So I got out of there.
I didn't wanna
stand there too long.

I got as close as I could,
you know, zooming in.

But if it had been
any farther, it wouldn't
have shown up on the camera.

So my plan going forward
was to try and find other ways
that I could...

Coax them into coming out
or showing themselves.

There was one night
when I decided to put
a chicken leg in a tree.

And try to lure them
into the camera range.

And that caught
the attention of the cat.

I could see the cat
sitting out there.

And I could see the hand
and arm reaching out,

and grabbing the cat
off the ground.

I had no idea that they were
big enough to have a six
and a half foot arm span.

Mom, Dad.

He did call me.
Showed me on the video.

When I first saw the arm
get the cat,

it was a little terrifying
because I didn't know what...

if he was gonna shred it up,
throw it out in the yard
or eat it or what.

I thought the cat
was its supper.

There was some movements
out in the woods
and it caught my attention.

The cat was put back
on the ground.

Whatever it was
out there hiding,
wasn't moving.

It could
still be out there.

I wasn't going
into the woods to find out.

Two months later,
something really
creepy happened

that would put
the monkey wrench
into everything that I thought

I understood about a Bigfoot.

I was sitting
on our back patio
watching the camera feed.

And I noticed in the camera...

I seen a bright orb
coming up into the trees.

I'd never seen that before.

And I knew
that it wasn't a bug

because you would never see
a bug at 60 yards away
on a camera,

but this thing was glowing.

It was very hard for me
to actually see it
with my own eyes.

And we wouldn't know it,
unless we had
a camera in there.

The videos
that he showed me,

the orbs that come and go
around the yard,
they move real fast.

Real fast
and they can turn real fast.

I mean, I can't explain them.

After the orbs started
to occur,

I had set the sensitivity up
for the microphone

That's when I was able to hear
noises coming from the woods.

And I knew that not
to be something

that was should be out there
didn't sound natural.

I started noticing
that there was a correlation

between the Bigfoots
that I was seeing
and then, orbs, too.

They tended to come in pairs.

I think the closest
that I've had one of them
get to me,

I went out one night
to get something.

And I heard the twig snap.

It was just 10 feet
away from me.

It was giving that look,

like, if I was to come
any closer, you know, like,
it could do something.

I was really scared.

It was a lot closer
than I wanted it to be.

I ran in the house
pretty quick after that.

- Mom! Dad!

It scared me pretty bad.

I definitely feel watched
at our house.

I feel like there's always
at least one that's keeping
an eye on the area.

I absolutely believe
these things are real
from seeing the videos.

I feel like they may
be getting closer to the home.

But I'm gonna
do my best to fight it.
I don't wanna be forced out.

But if they do get too close,
we may have to move.

If you're having
incidents like this...

You should definitely
try to get creative.

You could possibly
get it on video.

It's definitely
changed my life

because it's just a really
crazy feeling

to think you have
the world figured out
and to realize that you don't.

It's definitely scary.

That's why I don't go out
in the woods
after the sun's going down.

My name is Rebekah Purdy
and I work for the court
system here in Michigan.

In a million years,
I never would've expected

something like this
to happen to us.

My husband and I
are both prior military

and, you know,
we both spend
a lot of time in the woods.

We've seen a lot of stuff.

We don't scary easy,

but this was the most
terrifying thing, like,
I have ever seen in my life.

And I wouldn't even wish this,
like, on my worst enemy.

Like, I was literally
that terrified.

In August of 2010,
we decided to go
on this big camping trip

around the Upper Peninsula
of Michigan.

We love the area.
You can go miles and miles
without seeing a house.

This was our last stop
of the trip.

It was just me, my husband,
and then, my daughter, Erin.

Okay, ready for a journey
back into my childhood?

Like it or not,
I'm gonna show you everything.

My husband was really familiar
with the area.

He lived there as a child

and so, he really wanted
our kids to kind of see
everything there was to see.

Time for some hot dogs?

Okay.

Once darkness
was fully in,
we got dinner going.

Roasted hot dogs
over the fire.

Looking forward to going home?

Mom, it's just a branch.

Thank you, guys,
for a lovely holiday.

We got settled in
for the night.

When we first laid down
in the tent, like, everything
was pretty quiet.

But the wind had picked up.
So, like, you could
hear the wind.

I could see the fire
had come back
to life a little bit

because those embers
with the wind picking up
had lit back up a little bit.

We had probably been
in the tent
45 minutes to an hour

and then, something brushed up
against the back of our tent.

Like, it sounded
like it could be big.

And then, I heard,
like, a low growl.

Mom.
Did you hear that?

You know, at first,
I was kind of hesitant.
I'm like, "Okay, do I admit

to her that I heard
something behind our tent?"

You know, I don't want
to scare her, but on the other
side of it, you know,

I don't wanna downplay
that something
had been back there.

Yes, I did.

Tim.

So then, I turned
to my husband.
I'm like, "Did you hear that?"

Ignore it.

Whatever it is, it'll go away.

Try and sleep.

Okay.

I've lived
in Michigan my whole life,
so I know we have coyotes,

we have wolves,
you know, bears.

But I've never known
any of that was gonna come

right up to your tent,
I guess, and, like, brush up
against it and growl,

so, you know, I was
a little worried.

I really couldn't sleep
after we heard the noise
behind us,

so I was watching the fire,
hoping that, you know, maybe
that would calm me down

a little bit
and put me to sleep.

That's when I saw the shadow
against the tent.

It had, like, a dog
or wolf shaped face.

But whatever it was
was on two legs.

I was scared to death.

What is it?

I don't know.

You know, I was,
like, "Okay, I need
a logical answer for this."

I know that wolves and coyotes
are not gonna walk up

and climb on two legs
into a campsite.

I mean, it just
didn't make sense to me.

In the back of your head,
you're thinking all these,
like, B Hollywood movie

things, like, you know,
werewolves and stuff
like that.

But, I mean, it's crazy.

Tim.

Stay quiet.

And none of us dared
to even move.

You're frozen with fear
'cause you're, like,

I don't want
to get its attention.

- Shh.

We were trying to figure out
what it was, for one,

but also trying to be quiet
because we didn't know
if it already knew

that we knew it was there.

So we're trying to stay calm.

- But it's a little bit
easier said than done.

Everything got pretty quiet
after that.

Don't.
It might still be out there.

To me, it made
more sense to stay put

because we didn't
know if it was
still out there.

Let's not do anything
to get more attention.

Probably another,
like, half hour, hour later...

Me and my husband
we're still awake.

We heard,
like, a heavy breathing sound.

All I knew was that
it was pretty close
to our tent.

It was one of the scariest
moments I've ever had
in my life.

I was pretty terrified knowing
that all that was, basically,
standing between us

was, basically,
a piece of fabric.

All of a sudden, it stopped.

We heard it walk out
of the campsite.

We didn't hear anything else,
other than the wind.

My daughter, eventually,
did doze off next to me.

I didn't want to go back
to sleep because I was scared
about what could be out there,

or, you know,
did it really leave?

But I was really tired
at that point.

At that point,
I just couldn't sleep anymore

and I was, like, I'll sleep
on the car ride home
at this point.

The next morning
when we got up,

we pretty much scoured
the whole campsite.

We were looking
for footprints, claw marks,

hair, like, anything
that would indicate,

you know, what could've
possibly come through
our campsite that night.

There was literally nothing.

At that point,
we were all ready
to get out of there.

My mind kept trying
to wrap around the fact
that it had a dog shaped face.

It was walking on two legs,
like, did we really see that?

But all three of us saw it,

so I can't think all three
of us would've imagined it
or dreamt it.

Me and my husband
we're both very logical people

And we wanted
a logical explanation.

When we got home,
the first thing we did
was we got on the Internet.

Has anybody else
had an experience like this
up in the area we were at?

Closest thing we found
on the Internet
was the Dogman.

We, at the time,
did not know that Michigan
was a hot spot for Dogman.

So we started kind of reading
on some of the stuff

to have some
sort of validation

that other people
have had these experiences.

But my husband, he goes,
"But I want proof
that we saw something.

That people aren't gonna
think we're crazy
and just making this up."

We picked the same site
a couple years in a row.

Looking for proof
that there is something
out there.

My husband actually purchased
some trap cameras.

We never did find any proof.

My husband actually
passed away in 2018 to cancer.

My daughter, Erin,
definitely remembers
what happened.

She still has a little bit
of that fear, too,
like, where she doesn't

you know wanna be out
in the woods in the middle
of the night by herself

- or walking down a street
by herself in the dark.

I think we were all
kind of terrified.

I think Michigan
is a very good hiding place
for a creature like this.

There's so many places,
if something wanted to hide,
it could definitely hide.

Before our encounter,
if somebody would've come
to me and said,

"Dogman's real,"
I would've been, like,
"That's bull."

It did definitely make
a believer out of me.
