Air Force base

top secret archive from
Project Blue Book.

of over ten thousand
UFO sightings

investigated by the
U. S. Government.

We could very well be standing
on the exact place where
a UFO crashed.

My mission is
to uncover the truth.

of northern New Mexico,

following up on a wave
of UFO sightings.

When it comes to UFOs,
New Mexico is best known for

one incident in particular:
Roswell, 1947.

But that infamous case
is just the beginning,

when it comes to UFO activity
in this region.

Since then, there's been
abductions, cattle mutilations

even stories of
human experimentation.

I've heard rumors that the
Government has had

a hand in these incidents.

Before I came out here,
I spoke with Laura Eisenhower,

the great granddaughter of
President Dwight D Eisenhower,

and what she told me about
alien activity on our planet
was mind-blowing.

-[BEN] Hey, Laura.
-[LAURA] Hey, Ben.

[BEN] I'm on my way to
Dulce, New Mexico

to follow up on a recent UFO
sighting, and I was told that

the locals, a lot of them
believe in this idea that,

there is an underground alien
base in cooperation
with humans,

the military there.
Do you think

there's any truth to the idea
of an underground base?

[LAURA] Ah, Dulce, ah, is an
underground base.

There's a lot of sightings
that people have experienced,

and they really do back up the
claims.

[BEN] Do you feel that these
underground bases might be

related to these treaties that
your great-grandfather

allegedly took place in,
with extraterrestrials?

[LAURA] Yes.

[NARRATOR] Laura believes, her
great-grandfather,

President Eisenhower,
entered into a treaty

with an alien race known as
the Grays.

[BEN] One of the theories is
that we would exchange
technology.

They would give us
their information on how to
advance our technology,

in trade for allowing them
to do experimentation.

[LAURA] Ah, yes.

[BEN] We talk about the
extraterrestrials

coming from space, and
having a particular interest

in maybe a town,
maybe a military base,
and that could be true.

But could it also
be true there's an increase

in activity because they're
already here? And that

they're underground, and
they're actually coming out?

[LAURA] Yes, they've been here
a really long time.

What are their intentions,
you know,
is something to ponder.

And there's a lot to uncover.

I'm absolutely convinced it
exists, and I'll be interested
to hear

what you have to
share when you get back.

[NARRATOR] The people of Dulce

and the surrounding Jicarilla
Apache Nation reservation,

have been witnessing
strange UFOs for decades.

But recently, one man
claims to have captured
photographic proof.

Ben is on his way
to meet him now.

Could this be evidence
of underground alien bases?

They discovered a photo
which an amateur photographer
took, named Dory Vigil.

Dory was, um, taking pictures
of a flat-top mountain named

the Archuleta Mesa, and I
want to know if the photo

might have anything to do
with these reports of a base.

[BEN] Hey, Dory.
[DORY] How you doing?

[BEN] Good. Ben.
Nice to meet you!

[NARRATOR] Dory, a longtime
Dulce resident,

grew up hearing all sorts of
whispers about Archuleta Mesa.

But in 2015, all those rumors
would become shockingly real.

BEN: So, what were you doing
that day?

[NARRATOR] Late one afternoon,
Dory was helping a friend
trim trees.

On his way home,
he pulled over
to take some photos.

[Dory] That day, I was over
here, on top of
this other hill.

[DORY] I had a new camera
and I was trying to
take the pictures.

I took a picture
at the football field

I took a picture
at the church.

All of a sudden,

there was this little black
thing in the skies.

-[BEN] So, do you
to have that photo?
-[DORY] Yeah

[BEN] I can see
there's that dip,
DORY: Yes.

BEN: I can see now. So with
this perspective though,
that actually looks

pretty close to you.

Dory wasn't the only
one who saw the strange flying

object that evening.
Other witnesses recalled an

even stranger detail.

[DORY] There's other people
around town that says

they seen the same UFO coming
from the Mesa.

[BEN] From the Archuleta Mesa?

[DORY] There is about, maybe,
five accounts

saying that the, er,
it opened up.

[BEN] Opened up?

And a light came out
or whatever or something,

and then they said, there's
stuff that went in out,

-and then it closed
up and everything.
-[BEN laughs]

[NARRATOR] Could the rumors
be true?

Could the Archuleta Mesa be
hiding one of the underground

bases allegedly built under
Native American reservations?

[BEN] From rumors, the
stories of the people in town,

How long has this been
going on?

According to all the
stories from the history,

from Grandma to present,
they told me that when they

were small, they used to see
the spacecraft and everything.

[NARRATOR] If the Eisenhower
Treaty was signed
seventy years ago,

it would explain why these
rumors have been around
for so long.

So we're talking at least,
maybe, one hundred years

-or more?
-Yes.

[NARRATOR] Ben's eager to
investigate the Archuleta Mesa
for himself.

But access
will be a challenge.

[BEN] So, if I want to go
visit any part of the Mesa,

or up in this area,
what would I need to do?

[Dory speaking]

[NARRATOR] Ben heads to the
Jicarilla Apache Nation to

plead his case. If he can't
get permission to
access the land,

his investigation is over
before it's really started.

I'm on my way to meet
with some of the elders

of the Jicarilla Apache
Nation, to get
their permission

to move freely about the
reservation, to talk to some

of the UFO witnesses,
hear their experiences.

It's a matter of respect, and
I need that permission
from them.

[NARRATOR] The tribe has
turned down requests
from dozens

of UFO investigators.

You'll have to turn the
camera off now.

[NARRATOR] After several
hours, Ben re-emerges
with good news.

He has secured unprecedented
access, provided he works with

a local resident and former
detective, Avery Tafoya.

[BEN] Thank you for
taking your time
to go with me,

because as an outsider, I know
that this is

-kind of a sensitive issue.
-[AVERY] Oh, you're welcome.

[BEN] I have always
wanted to come to
this part of New Mexico

because, this gentlemen,
Dory was telling me,

people are watching things
silently going in and out.

Is that true?

Yes. Uh, people in
the community

have been seeing flying
saucers, UFOs...

Where do they think
that these UFOs come from?

Well, it's rumored that
they're probably

-coming out of the base.
-So you've heard that, too?

[AVERY] Yeah.

[NARRATOR] The secret alien
underground base was allegedly

built in the fifties, after
Eisenhower drew up a treaty

with the alien entities. A UFO
lore has it, that
in the 1970s,

a government security guard
from Archuleta's

underground base
came forward to expose

all the horrifying secrets
hidden in the mountain.

His account became known
as The Dulce Papers.

This long sought after report
has eluded UFO researchers
for decades.

But, incredibly, Avery
claims to know all about it.

So have you looked through
The Dulce Papersyourself?

Yes, I have. I've flipped
through The Dulce Papers.

[NARRATOR] Until now,

Ben had only rumors to go on,
but now he's found someone

that actually has seen
the papers.

-Really?
-Yeah. It's a while back.

I used to work with the police
department.

We were in our squad room
drinking coffee,

-night shift.
-Uh-huh.

And there was a cabinet
in that coffee room,

so we kind looked through it
and checked,
and we actually found a copy

of The Dulce Papers
in there.

-Yeah.
-Like in a case file?

Yeah, it wasn't labeled.

I do have a copy, if you'd
like to see 'em?

I would love to take a
look at that.

It seems the tribal
police

kept their own copy of the
entire report. Ben can't
believe what he's seeing.

The allegations
are horrifying.

The paper describes a seven
level deep laboratory run by

humans, and alien Grays.

They depict twisted genetic
experiments, aimed at
producing

hybrid organisms.

[BEN] Wow!

This is like a vat of, you
know, aliens inside of them,

like, it looks like growing
them or preserving them,
right?

And detailed sketches...

Very interesting. So, this
researcher writes genetic

acceleration, period of
gestation, three to
five months.

There's some strange symbols
here.

It "computerized wall
and computerized tanks."

Interesting.

[NARRATOR] This is an
incredible account,

but Ben needs more evidence.

[BEN] Is there anyone else
around town, or other stories
that you've heard,

that kind of
corroborate, you know,

that there is
an underground base?

Yes. There's a woman
named, uh, Myrna Hansen.

[NARRATOR] A twenty-eight year
old bank teller, Myrna,

and her son, Shawn,
were driving home
to Eagle's Nest,

just three hours from
Dulce.

What followed would change
their lives forever.

Coming Up. Ben hears the
incredible story of a woman

and her son, who say they were
abducted by Grays,

and taken to an
underground base.

Ben Hansen is investigating

reports of a hidden
human-alien research
laboratory

conducting genetic research
near Dulce, New Mexico.

In 1980, a woman named
Myrna Hansen

claimed she and her son
were abducted by Grays,

-and taken to the base
-Her and her

six year old son, were driving
home,

and they observed some
flying saucers in the sky.

The next thing she remembers
after that was

her and her son
were in their car,

and had no gas,
and it wasn't running.

[NARRATOR] On 5th May 1980,
sitting just outside the town

of Dulce, she realized
she'd lost a full six hours.

Does she recall anything
of what happened in the
missing time?

After time, she didn't,

but she had gone back to
do some regression hypnotism.

During the time that she did
that, she found out

what had happened.

They were taken to an
underground base.

-Really?
-Yes.

[NARRATOR] Myrna saw what
appeared to be a complex lab.

She was subjected to painful
experiments,

[scream]

and feared she wouldn't leave
alive.

[AVERY] Apparently, after they

were through with examinations
and procedures,

they took Myrna and her son
into another room.

She described seeing,

big vats of liquid with, er,
body parts in it,

and she was not sure
if they were human or animal.

NARRATOR: Myrna Hanson also
claimed she saw the aliens

conduct bizarre and painful
experiments on cattle.

And then, she and her son's
memories were erased.

They were subject to,
er, flashes of bright lights.

Apparently, the bright lights
wiped their memory

of the abduction.

Wow, okay. Seems like
hypnosis helped.

Yes.

Do you think there's a
possibility that

there is an extraterrestrial
base underneath Dulce?

I do.

[BEN] Avery agrees to
introduce me
to another witness

who claims she had
an encounter
with the Dulce aliens.

On the way, he describes
more rumors of
the underground base.

[AVERY] I've heard the people
that live up on this side of

the hill, that at times it
sounds like they can hear

-machinery.
-[BEN] Really?

But, there's no
machinery out

-so they thinking it's
underground.
-[BEN] Wow!

[AVERY] Quite a few stories
from this area from
the farmers.

[BEN] Maybe, maybe right over
there against the mountain,

something that's inside there.

Based on what Avery has told
me, there are a lot
of eyewitnesses in Dulce.

We're on our way
to meet Geri Julian,

the Jicarilla Elder, who lives
on the outskirts of town.

-[AVERY] Her husband, Larry,
-[BEN] Uh-huh.

[AVERY] they used to stay
down here a lot.

Watch their cattle, so a lot
of times they would

just sit outside,
and that's when they started
seeing stuff.

[Everyone greets each other]

-I'm Ben.
-[GERI] Oh, okay.

Nice to meet ya,
Ya must be Geri.

GERI: Yes.

[BEN] So, um, Avery has been
telling me here

that you have had some
incredible experiences
out here,

-here at your property.
-[GERI] Mmhmm.

-Guess you keep cattle here?
-Mmm mm.

I wanted to kind of
hear what's been going on.

[NARRATOR] Geri claims to have
had her first encounter

with the Dulce aliens
in 1986.

[GERI] A couple years ago,

we were working up over there

at Archuleta mountain,
that way.

When we park over there,
me and my husband,

he brought me
a little old...

[BEN] Why don't you
have a seat?

-One of those cooks.
-Okay.

[GERI] We just sat at the
end gate,

and then all of a sudden,
from there, we saw,

like, something coming down
off of Archuleta mountain,

going towards the road,

something white. On top,
It was huge!

[NARRATOR] An egg shaped craft
similar to what her fellow

tribal member, Dory saw,
was getting closer.

[GERI] My husband, he looked
at it and then he tells me,
right away

he said,"Get in the truck!"

And then I "I want to see
it too."

He said,
"No. Get in the truck!"

So I put the end gate back up,
and then I got in the truck.

-And then,
the truck won't start.
-[BEN] Really?

[NARRATOR] As Geri's husband
struggles

to get the truck started,

the couple suddenly notices
figures approaching.

[GERI] Two small people
started climbing down.

[NARRATOR] Finally!

[GERI] That's when
we took off.

[NARRATOR] Although
Geri didn't get a close look,

she saw the figures go back to
their egg shaped UFO,

and fly back towards the
mountain.

Wow! Wow!

And, it went back on top
of Archuleta mountain

to where the... the hole is.
That way.

The hole? What's the hole?

There's a hole on the other
side of that
Archuleta mountain.

It's got a hole?

Or, do you mean that it's
actually open?

They made it. Whoever it
is, they made it.

Wow!

[NARRATOR] But this is not the
end of Geri's story.

That night the beings came
back, and this time

-she saw them up close.
-[GERI] At my house,

at night, I woke up while it
was dark in my room.

There were two small people

that were trying to pull me
off the bed, and I
couldn't scream.

So I was holding onto the
mattress, down here,

and they were trying to pull
me off.

They're the star-people.

[NARRATOR] Ben Hansen is in
Dulce, New Mexico

on a mission to dig up the
Archuletta Mesa's

darkest secrets
Is this tabletop mountain

hiding a jointly operated
human-alien

Jicarilla Apache Elder, Geri
Julian describes
her close-encounter

with what she
believes were aliens

from inside the mountain.

Two small people, they
were trying to pull me off

the bed and I couldn't scream.

And she has a specific name
for her would-be abductors.

The Star-people.

I was holding onto the
mattress, down here,

and they were trying to
pull me off,

and then my husband, like,
moved, and then
they let me go.

Wow!

[GERI] And then all day, the
next day,

I couldn't get it off my mind.

What if they come again
tonight?

What if they really take me?

They're... they're
the star-people.

So, is that what you
believe? Is that they're
extraterrestrial?

Mmm-hmm

[BEN] Well, Geri, thank you so

and agreeing to meet with us.

And some of your experiences
sound quite frightening

but it matches up with a lot
of what other people
are telling me,

so I wanted to
thank you for your time.

Mm-hmm

[BEN] Everybody in town has
some sort of story

that they've seen something
here or they know somebody.

UFO craft coming and going
in the mountain.
I believe Dory.

I believe that he didn't hoax
this photo.

What it is, is still
unidentified.

It's, it's a true UFO, and
does it support

some of the other stories
of people in town?

Yeah! They've been witnessing
strange objects like this

for many, many years.

I really had no idea there

was so much activity to report
in this part of New Mexico.

[NARRATOR] To find out what's
really hiding in New Mexico,

Ben will need to dig further
Into the past.

He's been granted special
access to the top secret

archives of Dr J. Allen Hynek,
lead investigator for the

Air Force's Project Blue Book
program.

It was Blue Book's mission to
explain away

strange UFO phenomenon,
but Dr Hynek soon realized

some of these strange
sightings could not
be debunked.

I'm in Kalamazoo, Michigan,
going to the CUFOS Library.

I want to get to the bottom
of whether the Archuleta Mesa

is housing
an underground base.

-Hey, Ben.
-Hey, Mark

[Ben] And UFO historian, Mark
O'Connell has agreed to help.

So, everyone knows that New
Mexico is a hot spot

for UFO activity, right?

I've been researching rumors
of a jointly operated human

and alien underground base
in Dulce, New Mexico.

It's a facility where,
allegedly,

our government allows aliens
to experiment on humans

in return for their advanced
technology.

There have been reports of egg
shaped UFOs flying

in and out of the mountain,

and I've spoken to one
witness who says

she was nearly abducted.

Historically, have there been
any other sightings

in that area?

[MARK] The big one would be
the Socorro case.

It involved a traffic cop
who saw a strange object

and watched it blast off
into the sky.

So we have a couple
of tapes here.

The first one is an interview
with the traffic cop,

Lonnie Zamora, the man who saw
the UFO.

Let's have a listen to it.

on the recorder]

[Narrator] But when Zamora
arrived on the scene,

he didn't find
an exploded shack.

Instead, he saw something
he couldn't fathom.

[ NARRATOR] Zamora's first
instinct was to go
to their aid.

[BEN] You know what I love
about this story?

He's giving details that
are very pertinent,

that don't fit that typical
UFO sighting.

It's egg-shaped, and
these men or creatures
in white coveralls, right?

It's unlike any other case
that I've really heard,

and then the flame. So it's
like white.

If you're to make up a story,
you know, to get people to

believe you, why wouldn't you
just make up your typical

okay-here's-my-UFO-encounter

and leave it at that?

Especially when you
consider he immediately
called in for backup.

If he was makin this up

there's no way he's calling
for backup.

No, he wanted to let people
know I'm not crazy, right?

Someone else
has got to see this.

[MARK] You should listen to
this tape as well.

This is Dr Hynek, talking
about the Socorro case.

[VOICE OF DR. HYNEK PLAYS
ON THE RECORDER]

[BEN] So, it has the Dr Hynek
stamp of approval, right?

[MARK laughs] Very much so.

He doesn't come out very
often and say I'm puzzled.

I can't figure this one out.

This was one of Hynek's
favorite cases,

if not his absolute favorite,

and he really got into
conflict with the Air Force
in this one.

The government's
explanation not only

upset Hynek, but it defied
common sense.

[MARK] Here's the official
Project Blue Book
conclusion of the case.

They say it was
unexplained,

but most likely a prototype
NASA Lunar Lander.

I don't wanna buy that.

It doesn't make a whole
lot of sense.

[NARRATOR] Has the government
been covering up the truth

behind the Archuleta Mesa?

Did Lonnie Zamora witness
one of the egg shaped crafts

coming from the underground
base?

-And like Geri,
-[GERI] I couldn't scream!

[NARRATOR] did he narrowly
escape abduction?

[MAN] There it is.

[NARRATOR] Ben's investigation
into the secret UFO base

at Archuleta Mesa has revealed
another unexplained mystery

in New Mexico's past.
The Socorro case,

in which patrolman,
Lonnie Zamora

swore he saw an egg-shaped
spacecraft

manned by two small beings.

Incredibly, the government
claimed what Zamora saw

was simply a Lunar Lander.

-[BEN] So this was 1964 right?
I mean...
-[MARK] Yeah

I can't be certain, but I'm
going to guess

there's no confirmed
documentation

that we were testing the Lunar
module in Socorro,

which is a small town in
New Mexico.

They would have no business
doing out there in the desert.

There's a reason
why this case

was Dr Hynek's favorite.

There was evidence
that something

significant had happened.

Hynek didn't get to the bottom
of it, but it's
worth exploring

[BEN] Well, if Hynek thought
it was intriguing

and something didn't smell
right, that's enough for me.

I want to go
check it for
myself.

[NARRATOR] Not only was Lonnie
Zamora deemed by Hynek to

be a highly credible witness,
his encounter happened

just south of the region where
Dory Vigil snapped his

photo of an egg-shaped object
streaking across the sky.

Is it possible that spacecraft
based inside the Archuleta

Mesa have been flying through
New Mexico skies for decades?

Ben is heading back
to New Mexico to find out.

[Ben] I'm in Socorro,
New Mexico
um, checking out this 1964

case that was very unique.

[Narrator] Socorro was
a small, remote town
in central New Mexico.

It has a population of just
over eight thousand people,

and it's surrounded by desert
in every direction, for miles.

[BEN] So I'm going
to talk with
Ben Moss.

He's a UFO researcher who's
been kind of passed the torch

from the original investigator
so he knows all about it.

He's going to tell me how
this case fits

into the big mystery,
which is

what exactly did Zamora see?

And has it returned to this
region?

[BEN] Ben!
[BEN MOSS] Ben Hansen,
I presume?

-Yes. Thank you for
meeting me here.
-Sure.

It's good to
finally meet.

Wonderful day for an
investigation.

[BEN] I'm excited because I've
heard so much

about this case, the location.

Is it close to here?

It's right over this
berm behind us.

-You wanna jump in?
-Sounds good

-[BEN] go check it.
-[BEN MOSS] Alrighty.

[NARRATOR] The Bens are headed
to the exact site

where Zamora said the egg
shaped craft had landed.

[BEN MOSS] So, on the right
here's the memorial,

that city built to Lonnie
Zamora.

Look at that!

When did they put that up?

[BEN MOSS] After he died,
in 2009.

[BEN] Which is really kind of
unusual

that any government agency,
you know,

recognizes a UFO sighting.

Definitely,
definitely.

And Lonnie was a very
respective citizen.

Surprisingly, this hasn't
changed since 1964.

-[BEN] Right here?
Let's do it
-[BEN MOSS] Yup

[Narrator] When Blue Book
investigators arrived on scene
56 years ago,

they placed stones around
the impressions

left by the spacecraft's
four landing pads.

Decades later, those hollows
have filled in,

But the rocks remain,
marking the exact position

of the UFOs landing.

[BEN MOSS] Here we are

[BEN] They've got a measuring
tape here.

I'm curious how far apart
these would be.

So between here and there,
that in center here,

we have thirteen feet.

Would this be
another one?

That would be another one.

Okay, I got twenty feet here.

Okay, so this is a substantial
craft.

[BEN MOSS] Yes.

Dr Hynek took
measurements and estimated
that the craft

had to weigh about nine tons
to make those depressions.

-Nine tons?
-[BEN MOSS] Nine tons!

That's a nuts-and-bolts,
physical heavy object.

[ BEN MOSS] That's a big,
heavy craft to have
sitting down here.

And I would imagine the only
way you would get something

down here like that would be
to fly and drop it in.

Wow! Wow!

[BEN MOSS] When you cross
section this, the plane came

out directly in the center of
the four landing pads.

Looked like it surgically,

almost like you had
taken a blowtorch and
cut this Creosite

bush in half,
which is really hard to do

of these residence plants.
Requires a lot of heat.

I have this original
photograph taken by
Blue Book at the scene.

This is a Creosote bush
that was burnt in half.

You can see quite clearly,

it's almost sliced precision.

[BEN] Oh, wow! Yeah. Yeah.

[BEN MOSS] And,
'uh, I even said

if you took a blowtorch you
couldn't recreate this.

No, it'd just set the
thing on fire.

Exactly!

[BEN] And did anyone else
witness this?

[BEN MOSS] Well, the cases...
gets more interesting.

In the north direction from
here,

there are... initially, three
witnesses independently called

into the dispatch, saying

I see a object with a blue
flame heading towards Socorro.

This testimony
doesn't just

corroborate Zamora's account,
It suggests that

the spacecraft
came from the exact direction

of the Archuleta Mesa.

[BEN] And then other people
arrived?

Did they take photos?

[BEN MOSS] Another officer who
always carried a camera,

he came and took, I believe,
about nine shots.

Dr. Hynek later confirmed

that the film was fogged
by radiation.

[BEN] Yeah. A Lunar Lander
wouldn't cause radiation!

That is...that is really odd.

You know, I do have

-a Geiger counter. Why don't
we grab that?
-Great!

Let's do that.

[NARRATOR] Radiation is
said to
be a telltale sign

of an extraterrestrial craft.

While most aircraft are
powered by conventional fuels,

it's believed that alien ships
run on some sort of

nuclear technology.

Okay, so let's see if there's
still any radiation here.

[Geiger counter crackling]

I always do like to kind of
scan the area.

[GEIGER COUNTER CONTINUES
CRACKLING]

[Ben] Oh, wait! Wait a minute.

Here we go. Whoa!

We're definitely getting
something.

Wow. Okay, so I can tell you
that radiation is quite a bit

by far more than what I
normally find.

You know, with top soil like
this though, I wouldn't

expect there to be any trace
after this many years.

But I'm definitely
getting a hit,

and an experimental
Lunar Lander would not

have left any radiation here.

The levels are higher than
normal background.

We probably could have,
in 1964,

created a craft that weighed
nine tons,

looked like an egg,
sits on landing gear.

but we couldn't have
replicated how this thing
moved.

Nor is there a
logical explanation

for the radiation left behind.

Lonnie Zamora claimed
after the object rose

off the ground, it immediately
sped into the distance

and disappeared over the
mountains,

reaching unheard of speeds.

[BEN] It came up using jet
propulsion system,

lots of noise, roaring
blue flame coming out,

and then it goes silent
and it sails off.

We do not,

still to this day, have such
such conventional aircraft.

All claimed to have seen egg
shaped UFOs in New Mexico.

But were they all flying in
and out of an underground base

that conducted genetic
experiments?

sightings in Socorro,

250 miles south.

The government claimed the UFO
was actually a Lunar Lander,

but even Project Blue Book
investigator,

Dr Hynek had his doubts.

to see if there are
any more clues about

Zamora's strange encounter.

So what do you got there?

I've got this 1964
El Defensor news articles.

[BEN] So it came out, what,
couple of days after...

[BEN MOSS] So were looking for
28th April.

-[BEN MOSS] Bingo.
Young Dr Hynek.
-[BEN] Oh, yeah.

He's wearing
a bolo tie,

to kinda... kind of fit in
with the, uh, locals here.

"Dr Hynek feels Zamora's
account solid, not a hoax."

NARRATOR: This article, dated
just a few days after

the Zamora incident,

proves Hynek didn't buy
the Lunar Lander cover-up.

He believes Zamora
saw something otherworldly.

[BEN MOSS] That's a big
recommendation

from BlueBook investigator.

[NARRATOR] But Lonnie Zamora
wasn't the only person

who claims to have seen a UFO
back in 1964.

Found some other things in
here

that wasn't just on this case.

Here's one, um, talking about
people

reporting, seeing something,
landing north of Espanola.

Look at this.

A boy set afire by a blob.

His grandmother was inside,
and she heard a weird sound

like something whizzing by
really fast. She looked around

and he's covered in black, and
his hair is standing on end
and it's burning.

[NARRATOR] Whatever Zamora
saw, it seems he wasn't

-it's only target.
-[BEN MOSS] Well...

BEN: And he talks about a...
an object

that looked like a top
that came down

and basically hovered over him
and shot flames out.

-Sound familiar?
-Oh.

Flames?

Look at that!
There's another one.

A ten-year-old girl says she
was burned while watching

a strange egg-shaped thing in
the sky yesterday afternoon.

This happens, um, in Hobbs,

which I think is
over by Roswell right?

What we have evidence of is
it's not just here in Socorro

So many towns would be lit up
with sightings that are

quite frightening.
This thing was everywhere.

I uncovered something
that was not very well-known,

and that was two cases
where UFOs allegedly came

so close to children that
it caused physical harm.

you know. What is going on?

I want to know if there's
any truth

to the rumors around Dulce.

Is it possible there's a
secret alien base?

[NARRATOR] Myrna Hanson
continues to be
the only eyewitness

who has set foot
inside the base.

So, Ben does a deep dive into
the background of her account.

What's interesting is that
all the records from Myrna

were destroyed, ironically,

but I did discover one person
who was key to this,
who reviewed the

regression hypnosis
of Myrna Hanson

and his name is Paul Benowitz.

Paul is a key figure to this.

He was convinced that Myrna
did find evidence of
an underground base

there at the Mesa.
In his papers,
he's quoted as saying,

"Their base is on the west
slope of Mt. Archuleta.

The base extends north
of this peak to the edge
of the cliff.

I would guess it is
an underground
launch egress facility.

They are not to be trusted.

They must be stopped and
have to get off before we find
time has run out."

He was absolutely entrenched
in the information coming
to him.

But, the thing was, he was
the subject of an Air Force
disinformation campaign.

We know that. I talked
to one of the officers who
was involved in it.

We knew it was not from
this Earth extraterrestrial.

Those particular sightings, we
had to disinform the public.

Before he died in 2003,
he was convinced

there was an underground base
underneath Archuleta Mesa.

Geri, Dory, Avery.
They're all taking a path

walked by Benowitz and Zamora
decades ago.

I'm headed back to
Archuleta Mesa to figure out
where that path ends

and maybe,
the entrance to that base.

There's a hole on
the other side
of the Archuleta mountain.

You got a hole?
Do you mean that it's

-actually open?
-They made it!

-Whoever it is, they made it!

[Narrator] Ben's investigation
has him convinced

There's something very strange
happening around
the town of Dulce

and the Archuleta Mesa.

But is it really possible
that there could be
an underground base

within the mountain?

Ben has enlisted the help of
Jicarilla Apache tribe member,

Avery Tafoya,
to see for himself.

[Ben] This has got to be
some of the most difficult
terrain I've ever travelled,

four-wheeling.
I'm getting a run on it,
so hold onto your hats.

[engine stalling]

[Ben] We have drone.
We've got thermal and
I want to start hiking,

Um, just at least
to the base here.

I know a lot of people
talked about evidence

that something is built
underground.

Why don't we put
up the drone?

[drone whizzing]

Well, this is just really cool
to be up around here
and looking around, umm.

We should see the radio towers
here in just a second way.

There we go. Okay, so here's-
Here's our radio towers.

[Narrator] On top of
the mountain is the Jicarilla
Apache owned radio towers.

According to Avery,
they're unmanned.

There's no sign
of anyone up there.

There's no vehicles,
which is like we said.

Now what I was hearing
from people is that you
pan around the other side,

That's where they're seeing
lights. So, a base could be
anywhere in there.

It's-It's pretty secluded
coming up from that side,

and as we found out,
at certain times
of the year

really kind of treacherous
coming up this way.

Yes.

I mean, that's the idea.

I also have a thermal camera
that it's pretty cold out,

So anything that might be
giving off heat like a vent
might show up in the thermals.

[Narrator] Despite scanning
around the entire Mesa,

Ben doesn't see the hole
or entrance.

But, if the government had a
part to play

in building a jointly operated
underground base,

Ben suspects the entrance
is well hidden.

[BEN] The people being
harassed by the military or
anyone, while they're up here?

Was just being told
a story about that...

A couple of
friends are up here,

and military pulled up
on them. They told 'em
to get off the mountain,

and they followed
them down.

It's almost one of those
situations where you want to
demand their credentials.

"Under what authority are you
kicking me out of here?"

Probably the authority of
that AR-15 pointing at ya!
[laughs]

[Ben] So I'm going to record
on thermal.

So, you can see right here,
the top of the mountain

is actually twenty degrees
Fahrenheit.

So I'm imagining anything
that's, you know, ventilating

heat or air from the facility
down below is going to show up

Look at this.

You've got 21 degrees.

That's the hillside itself.

Fahrenheit, okay.
Yellow and the

lighter colors here
are going to be hot, so red

is going to be the hottest.

Look at the red area coming
off the top of the ridge.

[AVERY] Wow!

-It's to the left of the
towers.
-[AVERY] Yes.

[BEN] It looks like it's
coming, like right up
off the ridge is hot.

You see the top of the
ridge is like spilling out,

-[Avery] Yeah, like,
a hot air balloon.
-Yeah, exactly.

[Ben] That red area is growing
and growing is coming out
of the ridge.

Wow.

What is that?

But why is that bridge so much
warmer than the surrounding?

Something has to be causing
that heat.

Is it possible that the heat
is coming from something
that is venting

from underground,
like a facility?

[Man] Sorry, I don't want
to break the fourth wall,
but look at this.

[Narrator] Ben has discovered
some truly compelling evidence
of an underground base.

But as the sun goes down,
he and Avery need to
get off the mountain.

[Ben] People talk about it
being remote here.

Difficult to get up to,
especially this time of year.

But I could see if you were
to build a secret base,

this would be the
ideal location.

you know, the Dulce Papers
are quite controversial.

But, after talking to a lot
of witnesses who claim

to have seen aircraft
coming out of the mouth,

there might be some sort of
facility here.

So much of this corner
of New Mexico remains

shrouded in mystery, but
it's clearly a UFO hot spot,

and it's secrets won't stay
buried forever.
