unidentified flying objects

in our airspace.

in The New York Times,

it's possible
our government has a plan

to back-engineer this technology
from recovered alien craft.

admit there was once a covert
program that investigated and,

when possible,
retrieved the crashed remains

of unidentified
flying objects for study.

And it's still happening today.

Astrophysicist
Eric W. Davis stated

he briefed the Department
of Defense in March 2020

about the recovery of,

"off-world vehicles
not made on this Earth."

HANSEN: Over the past 75 years,

there have been numerous UFO
crashes where witnesses claim

the government
recovered the wreckage

and took it
to an unknown destination.

But two stand head-and-shoulders
above the rest --

Roswell, 1947,
and Kecksburg, 1965.

If I could somehow determine

where the military
is taking these UFOs,

that would go a long way in
corroborating the Times article.

It could then, in turn, offer
definitive proof of alien life.

So I'm on my way to meet
someone I think can help me.

member of the Air Force

who has written numerous books
on the Roswell crash of 1947.

He claims the military
recovered a UFO

from both Roswell and Kecksburg,

then took them apart
to learn how they worked

with the aim of recreating
their technology.

According to Tom, this work
has been happening

at Wright-Patterson Air Force
Base for nearly 80 years.

HANSEN:
When it comes to Kecksburg --
the same with Roswell --

when something like this
happens, a crash retrieval,

where you have
alien craft going to

Wright-Patterson
Air Force Base --

what happens
at Wright-Patterson?

Anything like that
would ultimately wind up

in the Foreign
Technology Division.

So, that is the housing
for receiving

either foreign Yes.
or otherworldly objects.

Exactly.

What happens next?

It would be
back-engineered.

Reverse engineering

goes all the way back
to World War II.

So, they were already in
the back-engineering business

by the time of
the Roswell crash in 1947.

So, the foreign
technology division,

their mission
is to accept aircraft

that we've
captured or found.

So, take what
is already made,

figure out how it works,
back-engineer,

and then use that technology,
perhaps, for our own benefit.

And they do this
with enemy planes

as well as
alien spacecraft.

What types of technology do you
think have been developed?

Oh, geez, we got transistors
from Roswell, Kevlar, lasers,

and they had this
so-called memory metal,

that you could
wad it up in your hand

and put it over
a flat surface

and it would just
float out, unfurl itself,

and just go back
to its original shape.

But the thing about it was,

you couldn't cut it,
scratch it, burn it,

or permanently
deform it in any way.

It was indestructible.

Wow. That's incredible.

We had a witness who was
involved in that project,

and he said they're trying to
back-engineer this memory metal,

which began --
get this -- in 1948.

Right after
the Roswell crash.

There was nothing on
memory-recovery metal

prior to 1948.

after contracting work

to the metallurgical
company Battelle,

the government announced
a scientific breakthrough.

In 1962, they held
a press conference

to announce the discovery of
this new amalgam called nitinol

And what does
Nitinol do?

Nitinol is like
the memory metal.

It's the best
we could do.

It's not as good
as the original.

It's used medically
in heart valves.

It's also used
in the space program.

What about types
of aircraft

you think have
been developed?

The idea of stealth
came from nitinol.

They covered an aircraft
in this memory metal,

and it didn't
show up on radar.

The U2s, it was
the first one,

and the SR-71 Blackbird
Stealth.

the Air Force's best craft

was the heavy bomber biplane.

Not long after,
the SR-71 Blackbird Stealth

was blasting through the skies.

just look at that

and say, "Well, that's

in reverse-engineering

to create circular craft,

that would be what

Battelle is one of the premier

metallurgical research

Battelle is a private
corporation

and a government
contractor.
Right.

So, you think Battelle took

debris and material
from Roswell and Kecksburg,

then figure out how this
technology works

and develop it into some useful
material for the military?

The evidence indicates
very strongly that

Battelle analyzed
Roswell artifacts.

If, as you're supposing, there
were artifacts
from Roswell

and they were
sent to Battelle,

what do you think the next
logical steps would be?

To back-engineering, from which

kind of metal?

Yes. And they put two
and two together,

and they knew there
was the Roswell crash.

a metallurgical company
named Battelle

was interested
in the Roswell UFO.

Could this be the material
they were analyzing?

There's people that would say
that this didn't happen,

like, what, eight months
after the Roswell crash?

Yes.

We have witnesses who saw
the Kecksburg debris

being transported
to Wright-Patterson,

UFO crash material

was at Wright-Patterson
from the Roswell debris.

did he see?

lightweight pieces of beams

that had what looked
like hieroglyphics on them.

we found out, cryogenics.

you were young,

he said that he was part
of a special group.

What was that about?

He said, "Son, I've accepted an
assignment with the government

and I'm not going to be
accessible to the family,

but there'll be
one phone number

that you will have to call
and leave a message,

and I'll try to
communicate when I can.

What was the first time
you realized

that this assignment
was taking place?

It started to
unfold in '65.

Did he tell you
where he was going?

Wright-Patterson
Air Force Base.

an industrial engineer
and computer scientist

who was sent to Wright-Patterson

to install an early
computing system.

Is it possible he saw
the reverse engineering

December 9th and 10th
of '65.

That weekend,
are you sure about that?

Absolutely positive.

You know what happened
December 9th of '65?

Kecksburg, Pennsylvania
UFO crash.

what happened to the debris

of the Roswell and Kecksburg
UFOs after they crashed.

He is convinced that
they were taken

to Wright-Patterson Air Force
Base, and reverse-engineered.

own grandfather was right there

after the Kecksburg crash
of 1965.

So, Grandpa gets a call
the night of
the crash,

basically, and he's
gone the next morning.

They came, picked him up.

What are the chances he gets
an emergency call that night,

and leaves for several weeks

if it's not related
to something this big?

It turns out many of
these letters coincide

with the dates
of famous UFO incidents.

February 21st of '64, the
Socorro, New Mexico, landing.

March of '67, the Malmstrom UFO
flyover in Montana.

March of '66,
the Dexter, Michigan flap.

Grandma was in the hospital.

Yes. At the time,
the doctor said,

"You better get in
touch with your dad."

So I called and
left a message,

"Please get in
touch with me."

So, what you're telling me
is when your mom, grandma,

was at the point of death
in March of '66,

that he couldn't even come home
from what he was doing

to come back to
his own wife.

Yeah.

You're talking about
somebody who --

on paper, Grandpa
is a technical engineer

who maintains
the computer systems.

And so, what's happening
in Wright-Patterson then,

is something so important
that he can't even come back

to take care of
Grandma, who's dying.

Yeah. He came home, and I
pushed him on what
was so important

and he avoided me.

That was it.

I knew that something else had
been happening
all along,

and I could never get him
to talk to me about it

until the night
of September 4th, 1996.

We're at the Salt Lake
Regional Medical Center,

he's dying, and I'm
the only one with him.

And then, out of nowhere --
I'm holding his hand,

and he said, "Dave, we're
not alone. We're not alone."

And I knew what he
was talking about.

I squeezed his hand
and I said, "Thanks, Pop."

Towards the end of his career,

Merlin Hansen moved
his family to Utah,

where he worked at another
mysterious Air Force base.

He said, "I've got to
go do some work

setting up a lab at Dugway."

Dugway Proving Grounds.

Are you sure of that?

He said to me one time,

"Don't you ever go out
in the West Desert.

There's nothing
in the West Desert

that you ever
want to play with.

Dugway Proving Ground

encompasses over
1,250 square miles

in the Great Salt Lake Desert.

The facility's stated purpose

is the engineering of chemical
and biological weaponry,

but it's also home to the
highest concentration

of UFO sightings
in the western United States.

Countless witnesses claim
that UFOs originate

from this secluded location
in the West Desert.

Wow, this is amazing.

Was the Wright-Patterson
reverse-engineering program

relocated to Dugway
Proving Ground?

The base is visible
from Ben's father's home.

And in 2015,
he and Ben's youngest sister

saw something come from the base

that was so
technologically advanced,

it did not appear of this world.

got their beacon lit already.

sister, saw something.

August 2015, this one was.

We just had a rainstorm,
and all of a sudden,

there is this orange
beam of light

that is shooting up like this
for almost 10 seconds.

Because of how
far away that is,

it had to have been larger
than two semis.

Her and I said, "Whoa,
that couldn't be lightning."

You couldn't see
the end of it.
So, like a laser,
would you say?

Like a laser.
But before it stopped,

we noticed
these blue dots 'round it,

looked like to us, that
are dancing around the beam.

But they had to be
pretty large, too.

And then, and all
of a sudden, at the very top,

there is a -- it looks
like a cigar.

Like a cigar-shaped
object?

Object, clearly.
And then, when the beam died,

they all went up into
the cigar-shaped object,

and then disappeared.

Was this beam alien, man-made,
or a combination of both?

I have to say, there's
something extremely strange

going on over
the West Desert,

and I can't help but think

that maybe Grandpa
was part of all this.

I feel the same way, son.

has been a hot spot of activity

for UFO sightings
and conspiracy theories.

and photo coming out of there

of what looks like
exotic spacecraft.

monitoring the military base?

from military contractors
and people that worked at Dugway

So, I've had a lot
of people come forward

that have witnessed
the triangular UFOs

that do impossible
type of maneuvers --

from almost a dead stop to,
you know, Mach 3 or something.

some photographs he took
while surveilling the base.

Back in May of '15,

I was with a girlfriend

and we were in an
area we call UFO Camp.

This is on the south
end of the range.

We were at this
location, and then...

a beam of light shot out.

It was strange, because
when we witnessed this,

we could almost smell,
like, static electricity.

So, here's the first
time it fired,

and then the second
time it fired,

these blue
lights came down.

surrounded this beam,

almost like
they were watching.

think it is, though?

kind of offensive weapon.

This is going through
the cloud and into space.

And I think that's what got
the attention of these visitors,

and they're coming in
and watching our weaponry.

unlike any technology

It does remind me

and you violated the boundary,

they'll turn you over to
the sheriff to be arrested.

to come do a sky watch
with night vision equipment?

Being here is just really cool,

I've brought with me

the top-of-the-line
military technology,

and night vision
and thermal equipment.

When I go do these sky watches,
I'm looking for certain things.

We're looking for
objects in the sky

that are non-conventional.

And what I mean is, does it act
and behave like an aircraft?

A satellite? Does it
move erratically?

We might have a satellite.
I'm guessing that's what it is.

It's in a straight line
right now.

Does it hover?
Does it make a sound?

Is it in an airspace
that it shouldn't be?

Is it too low?

And I like to kind of,
at that point,

bring out the different cameras,
because you never know

which one is gonna pick up
on that wavelength of light

that's going to record it best.

What I'm gonna do is,
I'm gonna switch over

to color night vision.
Here we go.

This camera would be able to see
it in those different colors.

Okay, it's a plane. [ Chuckles ]

Just kind of looks
like a halo,

but you see there's
flashing lights with it.

When I see something
that I can't explain,

there's a pretty good chance
that it's not conventional,

because I've seen
all the other stuff.

There's, like, four lights
together in some formation.

that what we're seeing
