Now that we have our timeline open, let's

go ahead and set up our color management
and make sure everything is good.

Very first thing, the lower right
hand corner under the settings

cog here and double check
are color management settings.

DaVinci will be Blackmagic design film.

Gen five is what we want

and let's close that.

And in the last project in our Smoke
Cheesecake Project, we made several

different groups

and that's because we really only had like
four different kinds of shots.

But this one has so many shots

it might not be that important
for us to group things like that.

We could certainly make
some subgroups in each scene,

but there are so many different shots,
it's probably not that helpful to do that.

So I think what we're going to do

is just make one group
for everything on the timeline.

So we have a couple options

if we want to apply
a look and color management and everything

to all the shots in the timeline,
we could go up to our notes here

and switch to timeline
mode and add those here.

But I think what we'll do instead

is make one big group that we're going to.

But basically the whole timeline
in the reason I want to do that is because

then I can decide later
whether I want these graphics to be under

that same look or not just by adding them
or removing them from the group.

So I'm going
to switch back to my clip notes here.

It's important that you do this because
if you don't, it'll mess up the next step.

I'm going to select down here in our clips
and hit Control A on the keyboard

that'll select every clip here
in the timeline.

And then I'll right click on
any of these clips and go up to add

into new group and we'll call this group

look and hit enter

And now every clip on the timeline
should have this little green chain link.

That means that
those are all linked together.

And we're going to decide later
whether we want these graphics

and the credits to be part of the group
or not, but we'll leave them in for now.

It's not going to hurt anything.

If you
selected all of these and right clicked

and you don't see this menu, that's
because you were on the timeline notes.

So make sure you're on the clip

before you select all of these and right
click and add to group.

Now we can go up to our nodes and we have
four dots here and this second to last.

That is our group post clip.

This is where we're going to add

our color space transform
as well as our creative look.

So first things first, let's set up
our color space transform.

I'll just move this node over here,

right click and label it 16,

select the node and go up to effects

and I'll put color space transform
on our CST node.

And again,
the same as the rest of this training.

Okay, turn that off.

And now we have color management set up
for all of the shots in our timeline.

I can switch back to our clip nodes here.

I'll get rid of our gallery and our

and our timeline panel here
so that we can see what we're doing.

And now everything is somewhat normalized

because our color space transform
is all set up and applied

to everything in our timeline,
everything that's in that group.

And again,
if I want to take out these credits,

I can right click here
and go to remove from group.

I think we'll probably do that
for our graphics as well.

Select right click remove from group.

Just trying to keep things as flexible
as we can.

The other thing I think I'll do
is set up our node graph here

and we're going to use
pretty much the same one, I think.

So I'm going to start with exposure.

I'll ask for a new serial

right click node label.

We'll call this saturation and temp

new node contrast.

Then we'll also add

window one

alt p four, another parallel node,

right click window to.

And I like to keep
these kind of general like that

so that it's nice and flexible
for any shot.

I'll also click the numbers
here to turn those off,

just as a reminder that we don't
necessarily have to use those,

and I think that's a great way
to start out.

So I'll hit control. A

With the clip selected here
down in the clips

and our middle button mouse
click here on the clip I was working on

and that will paste our empty node graph
to absolutely

every clip here in the timeline.

So now we have this nice little template
we can work from.
