Before we end this section I want to go ahead and give you a project to work on.

I'd like to take everything we've learned throughout the section and try to apply it to a project so

that you can actually put some of this to work.

So let's go ahead and get started.

So the project is going to be this one I wanted to do is wanting to take this photograph right here

you can download it in the resources for this lecture and what I want to have you do is I'm going to

have you draw the basic form of this head and the pose and everything so that way you can start to understand

and get good at using reference.

So this first part is going to be basically copy and you're just going to be copying the form and the

pose.

So I won't get too detailed with it but I want you to spend a little bit more time but you will probably

want to do something like a sphere find the center of the face and just kind of block out the simple

form.

Now I would make yours a little bit cleaner than this.

I'm just doing this quickly just kind of demonstrate what I want you to do

right.

And I just want you to do the basic form of the head.

I don't want you to do the hair or anything else like that

once you've done that.

Then what I'm gonna have you do is I'm going to have you observe some reference so then the second photo

you can download from the resources is this photo of this man right here.

And what I wanted to do is I want you to observe his hairstyle.

Think about the shape that's right there.

Think about the form and then do your very best to apply that to your drawing of this head form and

pose.

So what you're getting out of this project is you're learning how to use reference in both ways by copying

which is the first way where we're going to copy the pose in the form of this person and then the second

way is using observation so we're going to take this hair and we're gonna try to apply it onto this

head form.

And the reason why it's not an exact copy is as you can see the hair is a straight on view.

This is a straight on portrait but over here you can see this is more of a three quarters view so that

mean you're gonna have to try to do your best to rotate this hair around.

So like what.

What do we know.

Well we can see that he has a sideburns and from this view we see it like that but over here it might

be something more like this right.

A little bit more stretched out.

We're gonna see the hair on the side of his head right.

And so I don't want to get detailed with it because I want you to do your best to try to apply it the

way you want to apply it.

So once you've done this project go ahead and take a picture of it or scan it in and post it to the

Q and A section of the course.
