All language subtitles for Testing makeup on camera

after a while of doing the makeup

and noticing that we'd lost some of that deathly power

by adding some of the special effects makeup

I worried that it was looking too fresh and normal

sometimes when you work on something for a while

it's kind of hard to see it objectively

so I decided to test it on camera

to see what it looked like through the lens

and with the approximate lighting setup we'd be using

it looked a lot better on camera

than I thought it would

just to be safe though

I offloaded that file from the test

and did a quick color grade in Red City X

and I liked it

when I was filming Heather doing the makeup

I almost adjusted to her

to just wipe it clean and start over again

because I like the original pale look so much better

but on camera

I really like the pale

I thought it was great

and there were certainly enough for me there to

isolate and adjust in post production

and the wounds weren't as gory through

the lens as they looked in person

although in retrospect

I kind of do wish they would have made

the wounds in the makeup a little bit more shiny

like the wounds were fresh

but I Learned that it's a good lesson to

not only do a makeup test beforehand

but to film that test

and see what comes across on camera as well

I actually wanted it to look less Gore in texture

than it did in real life

but if we wanted all that texture and Gore

that's where we're going for

we would have been really disappointed

and again you never want big surprises like that

when you're on set

with a cast and crew waiting
