Ah, don't you just love
the smell of pine

on a crisp winter morning?

The only thing that's missin'

is a little bit
of Christmas snow,

but I'm getting ahead of myself,

And where are my manners?

Phelonious Fuzztail here,
songster extraordinaire

and master storyteller,
at your service,

Now, you're probably
wondering just how it is

that a handsome old
bear like myself can talk,

let alone sing
like a Christmas angel,

Well, there's a reason for that,

In fact, it's
the beginning of our story,

A Christmas story to be exact,

You see friends, these
just ain't no ordinary woods,

No sir, this forest
is enchanted,

That's right,

You see, not so very long ago

this forest was Mother
Nature's own cherished creation,

She covered these rolling hills

with miles of magnificent
trees, sparklin' lakes

and just about every kind of
pretty flower you could imagine,

And all of it was the happy home

of animals,
all shapes and sizes,

all living together in peace,

[cheerful music]

That is, until the humans
discovered our happy home

and decided
to make it their own,

They started
chopping down the trees

to build their cottages,

And take our food
to feed their families,

[pigeons cooing]

Until one chilly day, a Huntsman
and his wife came around

lookin' for
a huge Christmas tree

worthy of the center
of the human village,

[dramatic music]

They searched high
and low for a towering pine,

He had no idea he was
about to change Christmas

and his life forever,

[dramatic music]

'Cause he was about
to make a terrible mistake,

The tree they chose to cut down

was Mother Nature's
most beloved pine,

Her 300 year old Christmas tree,

[ominous music]

[ax smacking]

[intense music]

[thunder crashes]

Who dare upset
the serenity of my kingdom?

On Christmas Eve, no less?

You, foolish Huntsman,

you dare to take from me
what I cherish the most?

May you forever feel my wrath

as I take from you
what you adore,

Take the child,

I will spare her life,

but your bride, she will
live forever in my servitude,

And may it remind you
to never bring harm

to any living thing ever again,

It was quite a pickle, folks,

Mother Nature was mighty angry,

She'd made
the Huntsman's wife disappear

and from that moment on,

it never snowed at Christmas
ever again,

Just blue skies
and green leaves,

And what's worse,

until a man pure in heart
made the ultimate sacrifice

for her creation,
Mother Nature forbid humans

from setting foot
in this forest ever again,

And to make darn sure
her woods was protected

and the animals safe,
she endowed all of the animals

with the ability
to walk upright,

And to talk,
just like the humans,

Gimme that back, it's mine!

I found it, it's mine!

Stop bickering! We're going
to be late for the party!

We're not even invited!

Of course we're invited,
everybody loves squirrels!

Which came in very handy,

especially at Christmas time,

the animals'
favorite time of the year,

[Christmas music]

Come along, Benny,
don't dilly-dally!

Oh, fix that bow tie,
honey, it's crooked,

Open the door for Mama,

That's it, wipe your paws,

[door squeaking]

[Christmas jingles]

¶ Deck them halls
it's time again ¶

¶ To make the season bright ¶

¶ And eat and dance
and laugh and sing ¶

¶ All on a Christmas night ¶

¶ Ding dong, ring the bells
have a cup of cheer ¶

¶ Gather 'round
the Christmas tree ¶

¶ Christmas time is here ¶

¶ Thank you for the supper ¶

¶ My wife, she just can't cook ¶

¶ She tried
to fry me up a fish ¶

¶ But didn't take out the hook ¶

¶ Trim the tree
don't hibernate ¶

¶ Another slice of pie ¶

¶ You'll dream sweet
dreams of sugar plum ¶

¶ And reindeer in the sky ¶

¶ Ding dong, ring the bells
have a cup of cheer ¶

¶ Gather 'round
the Christmas tree ¶

¶ Christmas time is here ¶

Slow down, you'll end up
with a tummy ache,

I can't help
myself, I'm a beaver,

Christmas is a time
for serious eating,

And what's your excuse
the rest of the year?

¶ So don't play possum
wrap them gifts ¶

¶ The party's about to start ¶

¶ Every day is Christmas day ¶

¶ When you give
from a loving heart ¶

¶ Ding dong ¶

Presents?

Holy smokes,

I didn't get Mama
and Papa any gifts,

¶ Christmas time is here ¶

Come on!

Hold still, listen!

Hey, get your paws off me,

What are you doing?

What'd you do that for?
Can't you see I'm busy?

Christmas is a day away

and we don't have
any gifts for anyone!

We're kids, We don't give
gifts, we rip 'em open,

We're almost grown-ups,
You heard 'em talking in there,

Christmas is about showing
your friends and family

how much you love 'em
by gettin' them stuff,

Well, what are
we going to give 'em?

I got no skills
to make anything,

And I can barely tie my bow tie,

[boings]

Need I say more?

I know! Tomorrow, we'll
wake up bright and early,

before anyone else does,
and go find some gifts,

I don't know about that, Mom
says the woods can be dangerous,

Ain't you ever
heard of the Boo Hag?

Boo Hag,
Poo Hag,

Parents just make that stuff
up so we don't go wandering,

And besides,
no Boo Hag would ever dare

to mess with the mighty grizzly,

[soft music]

There you are, Come along, boys,
Mrs, Opossum is about

to serve her legendary
figgy pudding,

All this time, I thought it was
piggy pudding, Count me in,

Come on, everybody follow me,

[Benny] I'm going to have
pudding and cakes and cookies

and anything else
I can get my hands on,

[Christmas music]

Hey, Goldie,
We'll sleep toasty tonight,

-[Christmas music]
-[frogs croaking]

What's wrong?

Where's that music coming from?

That? Oh, well,

That's the animals, This time
every year, they have a rumpus,

-For Christmas?
-Yes,

And why don't we have
a Christmas rumpus?

Because, Just we don't,

Then why don't the animals
invite us to their party?

Listen very carefully,
little one,

Humans and animals
don't get along,

They can be very ferocious,

They sound very happy,

Because they're
with their own kind,

which is the way
it's supposed to be,

Animals and humans
don't belong together,

We can't trust them,

You must never
forget that, okay?

That's my girl,

Now go fetch a pail of water

so we can start supper,

-[Christmas music]
-[background talk]

[calm music]

[calm music]

[playful music]

Watch it, will ya?

[laughs] Should
have seen your face,

The mighty grizzly, my tail,

Zip it,
Let's just find some gifts

and be back
in time for breakfast,

Now you're talkin',

I'm going to have eggs
and French toast

and pizza and,,,

So, the boys broke the rules

and went out into
the woods all by themselves,

They headed out on the trail
and hiked over hill and dale

on their quest
to find Christmas gifts,

They searched around the pond
down by the Froggy Bog,

and along the sandy shore
of the River Banks,

They made their way
through the Poinsettia Meadow

and up and over
the steep hills of Rocky Point,

but they had no luck,

They didn't find anything

they could give as gifts,

And that's when the boys
made a big mistake,

Benny and Baby Bear
had the very bad idea

to wander off the trail
and go deeper into the woods,

What they didn't know
was they were headed

towards a very dark
and dangerous part

of the Enchanted Forest,

The Black Hollow,
home of wicked spooks,

banshees and gypsies,

but most of all that cranky
ol' crone known as the Boo Hag!

[soft music]

A very bad idea indeed,

And far across
on the other side of the forest,

little Goldie was having
the very same bad idea,

[soft music]

Let's see how ferocious they are
after I give 'em these,

[cheerful music]

[birds cawing]

-[cheerful music]
-[birds cawing]

[Benny] Look, veggies!

[Baby Bear] We can
wrap up a bunch of these up!

That's using your noodle!

Hey, look, a big turnip,

Didn't your Mama
love big turnips?

My Mama loves turnips,

[Benny] Come on,
help me pull it out,

[groaning]

Boy, they sure make turnips
more stubborn than they used to,

It's stuck,

[Baby Bear] Come on,
On the count of three,

-[Benny] One,
-[Baby Bear] Two,

-Three!
-Three!

[laughs] Very good, farmer bear,

Take one more and you might
tumble all the way back home,

Come on, let's get it in
the bag and get out of here,

[Baby Bear] Help me get
it in the bag, you nitwit,

Mission accomplished,

Alright, what's next?

Yams, berries,

[Benny] Hey, how about
that big old pumpkin?

[Benny] That way
we can have pumpkin pie,

[Baby Bear stammering]

[mimics stammering] What?

-You don't like pumpkin pie?
-[stammering]

Berry?

Spit it out, will ya? I need
to get home to my breakfast,

[stammering]

Boo Hag!

Who dare venture into my garden?

I hate to tell you I told
you so, but she's real alright,

See you around, pal,

Not so fast, you vermin!

My, my, my, what
do have we here?

Two little thieves who've
come to steal my vegetables?

We're very sorry
Miss Boo, Miss Hag,

We didn't know
this was your garden,

No ma'am,

[Baby Bear] We would
never steal from you,

You are the last
person we'd steal from,

And yet
my turnip is in your sack,

Right,

Um, here,

You have it now,

So we're very sorry,

Very, very sorry,

No harm, no foul,

It's a funny story,

we're out here
looking for a Christmas present

and Mama just loves turnips,

She just can't
get enough turnips,

We thought cause
she loves 'em so much,

it would make the perfect gift,

The perfect gift, But that's
before he realized it was yours,

I hope for your sake,
you find one,

Because if you don't find
the perfect gift

before the first ray of light
on Christmas morning,

you will remain a human forever

and Mother Nature will banish
you from the enchanted forest,

The price you pay
for your selfish deed,

[evil laughter]

Now, take your
turnip, little boy,

before I transform you as well,

But--

You heard her, run!

[evil laughter]

So that mean
and nasty old Boo Hag

had transformed Baby Bear
into a little boy

as punishment
for stealing from her garden,

Now more than ever,

he had to find Mama Bear
the perfect Christmas gift,

But Baby Bear
wasn't the only human

in the Enchanted
Forest that morning,

At that very same moment,

little Goldie was making
her way down the trail

in search of Christmas cheer

and was headed
right in their direction,

[Squirrel] Oh, human, hide!

Hello?

[Squirrel] Shh,
be quiet, she almost saw us,

Pull your tail in!

Morning Goldie,
you're up early,

[birds chirping]

[Baby Bear howling]

Goldie!

-[birds chirping]
-[Baby Bear howling]

[exhales]

[Baby Bear howling]

[Baby Bear howling]

Come on, Baby Bear,
quit yer belly achin',

You heard her, you got to give
Mama Bear the perfect gift

or you'll stay
a stinky old human forever,

But what if a turnip
isn't the perfect gift?

All the more reason
for us to get movin'

and find something else,

Hey, what about this?

A rock?

Ain't you ever heard
of a diamond in the rough?

Don't listen to him,
you're a very pretty rock,

Let me think,

[bee buzzing]

Go away, stupid bee,

What else would a Mama
Bear like for a Christmas?

Buzz off, bee!

Why don't you go home
to your beehive?

A beehive!

A beehive full of honey!

What better gift
for a bear than honeycomb?

Yeah, but how
do we get up there?

I'm a class one tree
climber from way back,

Just give me a little lift,

[laughs]

Stupid squirrel,

How could humans ever be
afraid of a place like this?

It's so beautiful,

[soft music]

I won't hurt you,

I just want to see what
the animals do on Christmas,

[owl hooting]

You're going to need
a hearty meal

if you're going to chew down
this year's Christmas tree,

[laughs]

Wow, Papa Bear,

Looking quite festive,

Now, if we could just
even up this side just a,

just a little bit,

The thanks I get for
being a good neighbor,

Papa, is Baby Bear with you?

No, Mama, he's still sleeping,

For as much as that boy sleeps,

you'd think he'd be hibernating,

He's not in his bed,
he's nowhere inside,

Mama Bear, is my boy Benny here?

Oh, don't tell me
he's missing too,

Missing?

I can't find Baby Bear anywhere,

Well, where could they be?

[bees buzzing]

It's still too high,

Come on, try harder, will ya?

[Benny] I can't reach it,

[grunts]

You're covering my eyes,

[grunts]

[bees buzzing]

[screams]

[soft music]

Hurry up, you weigh a ton,

Look who's talkin',

Never mind, just knock it down

and when all the bees fly out,

We grab the hive
and get the honeycomb

for the perfect gift,

I know the plan,
I thought of it,

Excuse me, but this was my idea,

Just like a human,

I'm not a human!

You're human alright
and a stinky one too,

-A stinky old human!
-Human!

[screaming]

[crying]

[screaming]

Both children lost in the woods

and on Christmas Eve, no less!

Oh, they are not lost,

But what if Boo Hag's got them?

Now I am sure that
both children are fine,

They can't be
that far down the trail,

Mr, Skunk, would you, uh,,,

stay here with the ladies?

I will be back
before you know it,

But what if
they've lost their way?

It'll be dark soon, These woods
are dangerous at night,

[crying]

Both children will be back

in plenty of time for Christmas,

If there's one
thing I know about my son,

it's that he has
a terrific sense of direction,

[crying]

What if they're gone forever?

[Baby Bear] Where are we?

[Benny] Officially lost,
that's where,

[eerie music]

[crickets chirping]

[coughs] I think
I swallowed a bug,

Why don't we just go out
the way we came in?

Good point, human girl,

-[crickets chirping]
-[eerie music]

-Human girl!

[cheerful music]

Stay back, human,

Uh, you're a human too,

I'm a bear,

Uh, no,

He's tellin' the truth, an old
witch turned him into a human

for stealin' from her garden,

-Witch?
-[Baby Bear] The Boo Hag,

Now, if he don't find
Mama Bear the perfect gift,

he's going to stay
a stinky ol' human forever,

So far we found a turnip,
a honey comb, and a pretty rock,

I found that one,

Keep quiet, will ya?

Humans aren't to be trusted,

Oh yeah,

I forgot, never mind,

I can be trusted,

Says you,

Why are you here?

I wanted to see
what Christmas was like,

Humans don't have Christmas?

Not at our house,

No tree, no presents,

no pumpkin pie, no Santa Claus?

Nope,

Well, why not?

A long time ago, my Mom
went missing on Christmas,

Every year, my Dad gets sad,

He can't even mention Christmas,

[Benny] Humans
sure are crazy sometimes,

You can say that again,

What's worse,
I chased a fairy off the trail

and now I'm lost,

Humans,

No sense of direction,

Follow me, the trail's this way,

Or that way, or,,,

I'm pretty sure
the trail is somewhere this way,

You're both wrong,
it's that way,

Leave it to
beaver and follow me,

[upbeat music]

[Phelonius] And so,
the little ones tried

to make their way
back towards the trail

with Benny Beaverton
leading the way,

Probably not the smartest idea,

as Benny was easily distracted,

Come on, flutterby!

Focus, Benny,

[Phelonius] The boys
agreed to lead Goldie safely

to the edge
of the forest and in turn,

she would help them try and find
the perfect gift along the way,

[upbeat music]

[Goldie]
So what does your family
do on Christmas morning?

[Baby Bear] We get up
and eat a big breakfast,

Then all the other bears in
my family gather at our cottage

and we sing and dance
and eat and eat,

And then we eat some more,

And just after
our bellies are full,

we gather around
the tree and exchange gifts,

[Goldie] That sounds amazing,

[Baby Bear] Maybe one day
your Papa will see the light

and you'll
start celebrating too,

I don't think so, That's why
I came here to see for myself,

I want to see Christmas trees,
presents, and pretty lights,

Uh, Benny, focus,

[soft music]

[Phelonius] But
focusing wasn't one

of Benny's strongest attributes

and Christmas
was coming up quick,

[cheerful music]

They continued on
as little by little,

the determined trio came upon
even more Christmas gifts,

They found a peacock feather
for Mama Bear's church hat,

some pretty flowers for the
Christmas feast supper table,

shiny stones of amber,
and an old jelly jar

that they used to
catch a butterfly with,

Those gifts, along with
the honey comb, the blue rock,

and the big turnip, all would
make great Christmas presents,

but would one of them
be the perfect gift?

One that could break
a Boo Hag's spell?

Only time would tell
and time was a tickin',

One thing was
for certain though,

our happy little trio
were quickly forming a bond

of true friendship,

Sometimes unexpected
miracles happen in life,

Maybe there was hope
that the animals

and the humans could start
getting along after all,

I came to the forest to
see what Christmas was like,

I was walking down
the trail and all of the sudden,

a squirrel came out
from behind the tree

and took my basket,

And then her and her friends

went running off,

Oh my God,

Stupid squirrels,

[laughs]

[cheerful music]

To think all this time
I've been afraid to come here,

You guys are funny,

[Benny] You too, human,

[cheerful music]

[Goldie] Now,
let's get back to the trail

so you can give
your gifts to Mama Bear,

See, I told ya I knew the way,
the trail is right up here,

Hey, somebody moved the trail!

Nobody moved
the trail, you nitwit,

you've been going
the wrong direction,

Are you telling me
now we're all lost?

And the sun's almost down,

[somber music]

But across the river,

that grouchy ol' Boo Hag
was watching every move,

determined to ruin
Christmas for everyone,

[thunder crashing]

[Boo Hag] Cauldron boil
in the black of the night,

I conjure my banshee
to soar with fright,

Stop Papa Bear
from finding the child

and leave him lost
and wandering the wild,

[cackling]

Baby Bear!

Benny Beaverton!

Anybody?

[banshee cackling]

Uh, Merry Christmas?

[banshee cackling]

[banshee cackling]

I'm not scared,

I'm scared,
I'm very scared,

I'm completely scared,

Most definitely scared!

-Scared,
-[banshee cackling]

[screaming]

[gentle music]

¶ I wish upon a star ¶

¶ Though it is very far ¶

the most perfect gift of all ¶

it's crystal clear ¶

easy, take it easy, human,

I am no threat to you,

Kindly stow your weapon,

Lower my bow in the presence
of a grizzly bear?

Not a chance, beast,

A grizzly bear dressed in
bright, festive holiday colors?

I am hardly a threat, please,

I am a cultured, gentle bear,

If anyone should
be worried, it's me,

You humans are selfish,
dangerous, unpredictable,

Oh, And yet,,,

very mindful
of your pointy objects,

[banshee cackling]

What is that thing?

Banshee,

A Christmas gift courtesy
of the Boo Hag, no doubt,

Boo Hag?

A wicked crone that
Mother Nature conjured up,

She has a heart as cold as ice

and rules with wicked magic,

If I were you, I would go home,

Humans put her
in a very testy mood,

My daughter went
wandering this morning

and I think she's
gotten herself lost,

[sighs] Funny
you should mention that,

My son went wandering
this morning as well,

[Phelonius] Papa Bear
explained to the Huntsman

that he too was
looking for his little one,

And though the two
fathers certainly had

their deep-rooted differences,

they agreed to put
them aside for the night

and work together
to find their young'uns,

And boy howdy,
they couldn't do it fast enough,

Christmas morning was
getting closer by the hour,

Baby Bear better
find the perfect gift,

[Christmas music]

Don't even think
of taking that one, it's mine!

[china crashing]

Oh, hey, wait!

Are there any pies?

You already ate three,
this one's mine!

I wanted the one
shaped like a snowman!

That one's mine too!

[groaning]

Did your tummy just growl?

Are you kidding me, I'm stuffed,

That wasn't me,

I ate more than both of you,

[Baby Bear] Going to get you,

[Squirrel] What?

[Baby Bear] Boo!

I'm the Boo Hag,

Whoa,
I'm going to pull your tail,

It's,,,

The,,,

[Squirrels] Boo Hag!

Out of here! This is the worst
Christmas party ever!

[laughs]

[Baby Bear] I'm the Boo Hag,

Merry Christmas,
you thieving squirrels!

[door bell rings]

[crying]

Don't cry, Papa Bear
will find the boys,

The boys should be back by now,

It's late and dark,

What if they're gone forever?

[Mama Bear] Christmas
would never be the same,

Oh, they'll show up,
It'll be a splendid Christmas,

Now, let's get back to
baking our gooseberry pies,

Oh, gooseberry
pie is Baby's favorite!

Oh, for heaven's sake,

No more crying,

You're both stronger than that,

She's right, Mama Bear,

We're all strong,
independent women,

We shouldn't just sit around
and make Papa Bear find them,

We need to take
matters into our own paws,

-Look, that's not what I meant,
-Mrs, Opossum is right!

Nobody gets
between a mama and her cub,

We'll go find them ourselves,

[Mrs, Beaverton] Let's roll!

Now that tastes like Christmas,

Maybe you humans
aren't so bad after all,

I know, maybe
if you get stuck being a boy,
