as we convene to celebrate

this inspiring couple
I'm lucky enough

to call my mom and dad.

They love each other so much
that they want another chance

to express their vows
and share them with us.

My sister and I didn't get to
witness that the first round.

"Love is the voice

the hope which has
no opposite in fear."

And I think
what he meant by that is...

As some of you may know,
I write for a column about love,

and that, technically,
I have some sort of

extra special knowledge
on the subject.

And, when I was
preparing this speech,

I turned towards
15 different love experts

to try and
say something illuminating.

But today, I think
I'll just shoot from the hip.

Recently, I've been realizing
that there isn't one right way

to go about love,

that it can't be conquered.

It can't be succeeded at.
It can't be outsmarted.

If you lose it,
it doesn't mean that you failed.

It can be scary.

It can...

..show up
when you least expect it.

It can be challenging, but,

what a relief, right?

That, sometimes,

love knows better than us.

And I have to say,
I have an extra, little edge,

in understanding love,
because I have these two

as an example.

So, let's get started.
Shall we?
