In this section we will cover both the skills needed as well as the technical spec required

to be able to follow this course

As for your setup you do not require a heavy duty with high specs

But since we will be developing an app and running android emulators on our machine
4

there are some thing we need to consider.

In order to follow the complete course in an ideal scenario you would work in a dedicated machine
6

Virtual Machines are extremely popular
7

and will actually work 90% of the course. In some instances however
8

You may encounter issues particularly when you are using an Android Emulator.

If you run an emulator on an VM it will not work or if it will work it will
10

be extremely slow.

If you have no other option but to work on a VM, do not worry you will still be able to cover most
12

of the course. Just keep in mind especially when using an emulator, that if something does not work it is probably
13

due to VM emulator

issues. That being said the parts involving emulators are minimal
15

and you can always follow the videos to see the tools in action

In our case we set up a very low spec machine.
17

Even 4GB of RAM would suffice, however in terms of performance the more the better.

Emulators are a bit heavy on storage so keep that in mind.

We are talking a few GB of storage per emulator.

In terms of OS we will be conducting most of the course across different Platforms
21

Namely Linux and Windows. The tools we will work with
22

are either Java of python based and are therefore multi-platform. We will be
23

conducting the labs setup sections on a Kali Linux machine just because it is the least straight forward in
24

terms of installation steps for the tools so we can show the worst case scenario. In the case of windows you will probably
25

be dealing with wizards

or single line installation commands. You will notice that in some cases
27

we will be switching

between windows and linux, partly for convenience but also to show that the tools work similarly across platforms

Now as for the skills required by the participants

We deigned the course with the assumption that the student
31

is not to familiar with Android, this means that it is an introductory and we do not require any
32

particular knowledge or skills. We do however assume the student has some basic IT knowledge.
