of their own,

so I can definitely relate,
and right now,

what they desperately need
is a more functional kitchen.

We access this drawer
quite a bit.

It's our junk drawer
and that just...

Yeah, I see this sometimes
in flipping houses

when someone just, yep, it's
just all these surprises.

So if I want to get anything
in the drawer,

I have to open this bad boy.

And then I can access
my junk drawer.

That's definitely
got to go.

The fireplace becomes really
problematic with where it is.

- It sticks out pretty far.
- It does.

I don't know, honey,
if you want to show her

what happens when people
come through the door.

It's like literally
a death trap.

coming inside from outside.

and the first thing they want
to do is walk over here

and actually the only part

jive for me.

So, right now,
everything's very dark.

But if you had the choice
for any type of style

that you wanted,
what would you choose?

I like a really
fresh, light, bright--

You know, the open shelving,
maybe some lighter countertops

and, you know,
like modern farmhouse,

but not too, too rustic.

So not too farmhouse,
but light, bright, white, clean.

- Yes. Not too modern either.
- Not too modern. Okay.

I think my style
is a little more modern.

Mm-hmm.

That's kind of what I like.
Like a New York loft kind of.

Like, what does
that mean to you?

Just like the modern look
of the New York loft.

where it has
that metal look.

So, like, an exposed hood?

feels dark because the painting

and all the colors
is just a lot of brown.

I just picture everything
white, airy, open.

Do something much more
fresh and modern.

In here, in the kitchen,
totally light and bright.

Get rid of the peninsula.

Do a nice large island
with an overhang.

so you guys can still eat here.
- Great.

And then we can shift
the dishwasher over to the left.

That way you can access
your drawers

without the hazard of them
clipping the dishwasher,

do a counter-depth
refrigerator,

which will provide
much more room.

Open up this wall right here
so we have a better flow.

All new flooring throughout.
Get rid of the soffit.

That way the ceilings
are higher

and everything's going to feel
more open, as well.

Perfect.

And we will work
on a man area for you.

Just give me

from anything too dark

because the kitchen
was really dark before.

So what I was thinking is
that we do all white upper

and lowers back here,

that way it really just
brightens everything up

and it's more of that modern farmhouse,

more traditional look.

But then we can spice
it up a little bit

with a charcoal island.

I love that.

I was hoping more of the,

if you were gonna do
a different with the island,

maybe go with
the lighter.

We're trying to get away

so it's durable.

You could spill on it,

you can do anything you like
with it, and has a soft veining.

So it's not too harsh.

of veining or too harsh colors.

This would be sort of how it
looks against the cabinet.

You have this material

It's very--

It is a bit more masculine,

but I do really like the shape.

really nice texture and a sheen

just blended in.

To me, this-- I know

with the cooktop,

it'll let us extend
the countertop

all the way
to the pantry

and give you
the extra prep space,

which I kind of feel
you guys need.

For sure, yeah.

I would love to have
more prep space to work with.

I wanted the double ovens,

but if he if he
gets us a range,

you know, hopefully
it's a bigger one.

So there's a couple of things.

One, we need to figure out
what we would like to do

for the floating shelves
and the mantel.

So this is just
a piece of rough wood,

and we can sort of
keep it natural

or we could stain it
to match the vinyl.

I kind of like this, actually.

I think it's nice incorporating,
like, some natural colors,

like a sheen,

just like the wax coat

It just opens up

Moving the dishwasher
over there was the right call.
