could live amongst the Native people in peace.
Well, John Kingston marched off into those woods
armed with nothing but his special "black spear"...
[ Laughter ] ...and he hunted down
that giant boar and, boom!
He killed it!
And he brought the head back to the chief.
Well, then there was a great feast to celebrate
the people's freedom from the terrifying beast
and to welcome John and his family
to share this beautiful land with the Native people.
And they all lived together in peace
until the ends of their days.
And that was the very first Kingston Day,
and that's how our town got its name.
And we have a couple of John Kingston's descendants
living right here amongst us today.
