1
- So now that our building is starting to come together
2
and it's starting to feel like a good representation
3
of some of the spatial qualities
4
that we're trying to express,
5
let's talk about documentation
6
and some of the documentation tools.
7
So let's go to the first floor.
8
So I'm going to jump over
9
to first floor via my navigator.
10
And here we have the first floor.
11
And so you'll find the documentation tools
12
in your toolbar on the left-hand side of your screen.
13
They cover pretty much all
14
of the different ways that you might want to create
15
or put some information from texts to labels
16
to dimensions and a host of other ones.
17
And we'll go into more detail
18
of all of these later in the course.
19
And so you can also find that at the top of the screen.
20
And if you go to the menu document and document tools
21
you'll see that here as well.
22
I'm just going to show you a few of these
23
so that you have the ability to start laying stuff out.
24
So let's start with the label tool.
25
So if I click on the label tool,
26
and I click on that arrow next to it,
27
there's a few different types of label tools.
28
And the label tool is more than just a way to create text
29
that's connected to a leader line,
30
but it also can be automatic text
31
or text that's pulling information out
32
of the properties of an object.
33
So it's very powerful and can really save you a lot of time.
34
So let's show one of these.
35
I'm going to just double-click on that.
36
I'm going to just click on this wall.
37
What it did by just clicking on it,
38
and I'm going to scroll through to the end,
39
it just pulled this number automatically out of that wall.
40
So you can imagine if you have set up your walls
41
or your assemblies to correctly represent your wall tags,
42
then you can just quickly go through your project
43
and use the label tool.
44
And you could start to label all of your walls.
45
And you can adjust how that label tool looks.
46
Then let's just look at the standard label tool
47
that we're all familiar with.
48
So if I wanted to put some text here, like hose bib,
49
I could do that.
50
And then these label tools, as you can imagine,
51
have a lot of different options within them.
52
And we'll dive into this later in the course.
53
So I also want to show you the dimension tool.
54
And so we have the dimension tool.
55
Again, we can click that little fly out,
56
and I can select different types of dimensions.
57
So if I wanted to do section or elevation dimensions,
58
or if I want to just do a plan dimension
59
to the core of an element,
60
and so I'm going to select this one.
61
And so I'm going to just double click on that.
62
And I am going to just measure between these two,
63
and there we go, and we have a dimension.
64
And again, like everything else,
65
dimension tools have a lot
66
of different options within them
67
but it's a good place to start with the favorites.
68
The favorites that Graphisoft has provided
69
is a good way to start.
70
And then let's just look at the text tool.
71
So if you wanted to add some text,
72
you can easily just double click on that.
73
And then you can create a text box,
74
by creating a box
75
or you can just double click and start typing.
76
So we'll just say adjacent property.
77
And there you go.
78
So we'll talk about these tools
79
in a lot more detail as we progress through the course.
