- [Instructor] All right, let's talk about the line tool.

So we're creating kind of a schematic design

an assessment of this project.

Maybe we're doing a renovation or something of that nature

and we're tryna develop some information

for the city and the owners.

So if we go over to the line tool,

you can click on it.

And at the top, you have your different options.

You can also click the little arrow

by just hovering over and to the right of the line tool

and it'll bring up some favorites.

If you are trying to build out a template

or have some office standards

or just some preferences of how your lines look,

you're going to want to explore favorites.

We'll talk about that a little bit later.

But let's just talk about the basics of lines.

So we have the line tool, so I'm just double clicking it

or I can push Control or Command+T

and I can get into the settings.

And so we have the type of line

and we can choose between 50 different line types.

And, then we have the line color and weight.

So the pen type.

We also have the ability to have a line with an arrow.

So if we click on the arrow

we can change what kind of head it has.

We can also change how or when that head shows up.

So we can have it start where the head starts,

where we first click,

or we can have the head start when we last click.

Or we can have a head at both sides.

So I'm not going to use the head at this time.

You know what, I am.

I'm going to use the head at this time.

So let's use the head at the start of the line.

And we're just going to create the property boundary line.

So I'm going to use this symbol here for the head.

And so what I'm going to do is,

and then you can also adjust the category.

If it's a drafting line or it's a separator line,

it's just going to be a drafting line.

And then let's put this on to the site plan,

annotation layer.

And let's just say, okay.

So I can do it two ways.

I can click on the edges,

and I can just, click.

And so now we see that there's a little, mark

at the beginning and at the end.

And I can also change the construction method.

I can make it a rectangle.

So if I click on rectangle,

it's just going to make a rectangle like that.

Or if I click on this kind of angled rectangle,

so the first click is what angle I want it at,

and the second click is the direction it's going to go.

So we could use this poly segment.

And so if I click here, I can go through the edges.

And let's see how that turns out.

And then when it's black, the little pencil,

that means you are able to complete the operation.

So that didn't really do what I want.

It gave me a little mark there,

but it didn't give me a mark at each of the edges.

So let's do that again.

And let's maybe do it a different way.

Now, each of my corners has a little dice designation

where the property corners are.

And so that looks pretty good.

This is not the right line type for a property boundary line

or property line.

So one thing I can do,

and this is a trick that works

with all of the different tools in the toolbox.

If you have the tool selected,

you can just push Command+A or Control+A,

and it will only select

the tool that you have selected in the toolbox.

And it will select all the instances when you select.

And I'm just going to change the line type

'cause I want something that looks

a little bit more like a property line.

And so there I go, I've just changed all of 'em.

So that is the line tool.
