The famous five, that's what we were called.
Even our teachers refer to us that way.
We were inseparable and no one could come between us.
Nse,
Alex,
Regina,
Rume
and me Uche
Where is the salad I asked for?
I...
Didn't make any salad.
What was that?
I didn't make any salad tonight.
You didn't make any salad tonight.
When I left for work this morning, what did I tell you I wanted for dinner tonight.
Answer me!!!
You said you wanted rice with beef stew and some salad in it.
Does this looks like the salad I asked for.
Why do you always insist on getting me upset Regina.
I'm sorry sweetie but,
There was so much traffic today and,
picking up the kids from school took forever.
That's your excuse...
Joe it's a lot of work for me, cleaning and scrubbing every single day.
Dropping and picking the kids up from school,
and then rushing back home to make dinner.
I barely have time to rest.
-I told you I need a house help... -And you are not getting any!
Do you know what the problem with you is Regina...
You are one lazy woman who insist on making,
a huge amount and out of every minusculeproblem that comes your way.
You make me regret, and not want to come back to this house is what you do.
Please Joe just make do with the food.
I should make do with the food.
I'll tell you what,
Why don't you eat the rice yourself.
Thank you but,
I will just,
keep a bit for myself.
It's not a request.
Eat that food.
Joe the kids are here at least let them finish their meal.
I said you will eat this food.
Why don't I help you.
Eat the food.
-No please. -How about this.
-No please... -No you try it.
Eat the food. Eat, eat ahhh....
Argh!!!
Take her into the room now, don't come outside.
You just bit me...
Did you just bit me.
You've been here for a while.
Why don't you come to bed.
Regina.
Talk to me.
I just wanted to brush before coming to bed.
You're still not upset with me are you...
No.
I didn't mean to do what I did ok.
I just had a very hard day at work and...
Look.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry darling okay.
They won't happen again.
I promise.
You know i've heard that too many times before.
I know.
I promise okay...
It won't happen again.
I promise I will work in everything.
My temper...
Everything.
Okay.
I promise.
Come on to bed okay.
I still might brush before coming to bed.
Okay.
That's fine.
I'll leave you to it okay...
I love you.
Excuse me ma'am.
-Hello morning. -This just came in for you.
Mm-hmm.
Can you ask Ufoma to get ready for her editorial implements.
-Ok ma. -Thank you.
Hello movie star, how are you?
Hi Nse.
What's the matter Alex?
I'm afraid I have some bad news.
What is it?
Alex.
I just got a call from Stella.
Uche's house keeper.
Uche has passed away.
-You're welcome ma. -Thank you...hello.
-You're welcome. -Hello...
-How are you? -I'm fine.
Oh my God Rume.
Look at that.
No....
Oh no....
So Uche finally got a round to pulling this picture up.
Wow...
The last time I visited, I saw this picture and some other art work,
all locked up in one of her room and I said you need to put this picture up,
and she kept saying "oh i'll do it tomorrow".
And here it is.
We were so young and innocent.
See as we're fine.
We were young but, no definitely not innocent.
Yeah maybe not really.
-Hmm.... -This brings back memories.
Abuja is so fine, it seems this is where all the money is...
Alex....
What a beautiful house...
It is...isn't it.
I was wild the very first time I came here myself.
Uche.
Uche was a lucky girl.
Oh gosh... just when we are beginning to relax.
-Rume. -What...
Ufoma I'd already given it to a copy editor.
Okay shit! I'll sort it out when I get back.
-Hello... -Hello darling.
How are you Nse?
I'm fine thank you.
How are you? Good, good.
Hello Rume.
It's been a while.
Not long enough if you ask me.
You know i've never been here.
Really?
Yes.
She's been asking me to come for like, God knows how long.
And I never really got wrong to doing that.
Because I was so busy with work.
It's a very beautiful place and I love the home too.
Rume and I were just talking about that actually.
She said Uche was a very lucky girl.
That depends on her definition of luck.
I meant luck in the sense that she had all the luxury while she was here.
And how will that count as luck.
What would you call moving from a not so previleged home,
to a very rich one.
I'll call that faith.
Well,
I say it's luck.
Yeah you would. Considering how your mind works.
Look at me,see problem...
What's wrong with you?
Oh ohhh....
It's because you were born with money I think.
That's your grouse.
Even after so many years you guys still can't stop arguing.
It's only been five minutes we've been here and you're already at it.
I can see somethings never change.
Alex.
I think it's inappropriate all the things you're saying to me right now.
I ask again.
What's wrong with you Nse.
Am I not the one who owns my mouth.
Come ladies chill out.
We only just got here.
Come please this girl.
What kind of drink do you have in this house,
This orange juice just won't cut it.
We have brandy, vodka, wiski, champagne and in selection refined wine.
What can I offer you madam.
I'll have a glass of wine, white or red it doesn't matter.
A large brandy for me.
I sure need the kick.
Ok ma'am.
-You're welcome ma. -Thank you.
How are you? I'm fine ma, you're welcome.
Hey Regi...
What's the matter Regina?
Regina take off your eye glass is there sun inside the house too.
For heaven sake Regina, who did this to you?
What happened?
Were you in an accident.
It's Joe is it?
No... Joe can't do this.
Wouldn't be the first time.
What!
Joe has been hitting you.
Nse I said it in english.
But seems you don't understand let me say it in pidgin.
It was Joe who beat her mercilessly like this, and it's no the first time.
You knew about this and you didn't say anything to us.
I said something to the person that needed to hear it.
-And you could've told us. -What difference would that have made.
We could have helped intervene and stop this madness.
You think I have'nt tried.
Joe threatened to have me beaten up the last time when Regina and the kids,
stayed over at my place.
I had to call the police to throw him out, guess who paid for it.
Regina.
Regina how lomg has this been going on?
-I am calling Joe. -You would do no such thing.
Is like you haven't heard a word i've said since.
I heard you alright that's why I want to call him.
You would do no such thing until you understand that your pestering,
would cause more harm than good.
Well it was my pestering that provided you solicit,
during your seperation remember.
Nse Abasi.
So because you allowed me stay in your house,
that's why you can't control your mouth.
Ok announce it.
Announce it!
You're an ungrateful little thing.
What's wrong with both of you.
-Ask her!!! -Ask her!!!
Miss goodie two shoes here feels she knows best all the time.
For someone who is so perfect, how come you keep secrets.
Does your husband know?
-What are you getting it. -Oh I know all about it Nse.
-You crazy... -You're crazy.
Stop it!
Both of you should ashamed of yourselves.
You haven't even been here long and you're already fighting each other.
But I don't care.
If you both want to wash your dirty linings in the open,
But I won't let you disrespect Uche in her own home by creating a scene.
Now both of you.
Sit down.
And try to act civilized.
Welcome madams.
Hello.... How are you?
I was instructed to hand this over to you.
Thank you.
My dear friends,
Let me start by apologising for not being with you anymore
I know this situation is quite dissapointing but,
Sometimes things don't go as planned.
This is the first of the series of letters i've left you.
We were all so close back in school, with no secrets to hid from each other.
But time,
distance and individual challenges changed all that.
They're lot of things I wised I had told you before now but,
I guess things don't always happen the way we want them to.
Over the years.
My life has been more but happy.
I might have a beautiful home, cars and money but,
none of this really brought me happiness.
Let me be the first to pour my heart out.
I have a lot of baggage.
I'm going to start with my marriage.
I know you have painted a picture of a wonderful union between chief and I but,
The truth is we were never in love with each other.
My father owed chief a lot of money from a business deal gone wrong.
Even after selling everything he owned including landed property.
My father was not even close to raising a hundred million naira debt.
I was the bargaining sheep.
I was betrothed to marry chief as a fourth wife,
after I turned eighteen.
This is the beginning of my story.
Sometimes the one thing you giveaway,
were the only thing that can bring you closure.
Somebody say I
love
Uche.
Wow.
That was some revelation.
I don't understand the last part of the sentence.
Sometimes the one thing you giveaway,
could be the only thing that could give you closure.
Somebody say I...
What's that suppose to mean?
Remember Uche used to speak a lot in riddles.
I think this is one of them.
Did anyone give away something recently?
Perhaps something of importance.
Rume you might have a point.
Somebody say I simply means own up.
I think you both are reading unnecessary meanings into it.
Couldn't she be referring to the dilemma of the whole situation.
And how it affected her.
That really wasn't an easy place to be you know.
Considering the fact that her father died just after her marriage to chief.
Nse you might be right.
Because that's exactly what the letter is about.
I know I will be really depressed if my father sold me off for some debt.
Still cannot believe why she didn't come to any of us.
She could've come to us.
Have you ever been in a tight situation before...
You want to get out so bad, but you just don't know how.
I have,
a little relate to Uche predicament because,
that is my life.
For six years now,
my marriage has been a living hell.
The late night started,
just a few months after Lily's birth and,
Joe is blinded on work.
Something inside of me told me he was having an affair.
One day I...
I went through his phone.
And discovered some text messages that told me all I needed to know.
You see...
It wasn't just an affair.
I knew most girls in the picture.
I confronted him.
And he beat me.
Things escalated from bad to worse after then.
Joe and I fought constantly.
Even no other than it's a mistake.
So,
the beatings replaced the talking.
I can't remember how many times Joe beat me because I lost count.
And just reside myself to it.
This.
This is nothing compared to what Joe has done to me before.
Once he beat me so bad,
then I cracked two ribs on my right side.
And you still stayed with him.
What was I supposed to do.
Leave him that's what.
I'm a full time house wife with two young children to provide for.
I can't just stop and leave like that.
How do I take care of them.
You know you have a store.
Come on...
We all live in Lagos and hardly see each other.
Nse the last time we spoke was over the phone,
and that was like what, a month ago.
And am suppose to just,
Dump my issues at your doorstep.
Regi... come on don't say it like that.
I know i've been busy with the magazine but...
That's my point exactly.
Regina does your mother know about this?
No, she doesn't.
And why haven't you told her.
How do I begin to tell her.
Besides.
She will drag me out of my marriage and Joe to the police.
And any saying mother would do just that.
For me Regi...
Let me not lie to you,
I think your marriage ended the very first time Joe hit you.
I won't tell her.
If you continue to refuse help from family and friends,
Joe will always have this feeling that he can do anything,
and whatever he wants with you.
He needs the fear of God to be put in him.
Honestly... that's it.
But seriously Regi,
what are you going to do about this situation.
You can't go on like this.
I'll say leave the bastard
Yeah.
Any man who raises his hand on a woman is nothing but a low life.
That's it...
Look I know you're concerned about Zack and Lily.
About finicial situations but...
Come on sis you deserve better you and the kids.
It's easier said than done.
Put yourselves in my shoes.
I don't have a reasonable amount in the bank.
I need money for mine and my children survival.
And a job search will take a while.
I need the finicial security that Joe provides.
As you can see...
I'm caught between a rock and a hard place.
Come on Regi...
Why are we friends.
We can raise money for you.
Or what do you say ladies...
Calm down a bit.
I can give you four hundred thousand tomorrow if you give me your bank details.
I'll do it as soon as possible.
And how far can raised fund go?
Just how far.
First of all she needs to think of a plan.
She needs an action plan first, you just can't get up and give her money.
What happens to her she needs a job.
She needs accomodation, she needs to change the kids school.
And what if her husband Joe just gets up and run picking up the kids from school.
Do you want that?
Who said she's not even going to run back to him.
I haven't said I was leaving Joe yet.
So let's slow things down a bit.
Excuse me.
I just wanted to inform you that the lunch will be ready in about ten minutes.
Oh great am so hungry.
I thought you were going to say lunch was ready and served.
I'm starving...
My apologies ma'am.
But it will be ready and served in ten minutes.
Okay.
Not to worry a clown.
She'll survive.
Thank you Stella.
I'm hungry.
Ohh oh.
Who is this...
Excuse me ladies I have to take this call.
Hello darling.
How's it going?
With that smile it's either one or two things.
Boy toy calling.
Or her agent calling her to say she just landed a role,
in that hollywood movie she audition about.
I read about that in the papers it's got them searching for freshly african face.
The very one that has Robert Deniro and Jonny Debbie.
Really?
-Yes now... -Oh I hope Alex makes the count.
Alex.
Are you okay?
It's Dapo.
He was robbed on his way to the studio.
Is he alright?
He says he is...
Thank goodness for that.
Now i'll have to figure out a way of sending money to him becase,
they took all his money.
Why can't he sort it after.
No now, he's a struggling musician things have been on the down for a while.
And you are not a struggling actor.
This guy is just scammingyou and you're falling for it.
Dapo is not like that.
It's the same old story my sister.
Thanks a lot for the money Uche I really appreciate it.
Anytime girlfriend.
So which of the building is his house.
Just go straight down and I think it's the turn on the left.
Okay.
Honestly if I was told you can do this kind of a thing I won't believe it.
So it's from the thirty thousand Uche borrowed you,
that's where you want to give your boyfriend twenty thousand.
Hope you know is till next month your mom and dad will send you money.
And you've spent all your money on this guy.
Won't you keep some money just incase for yourself.
Rume how is that your business?
Did I borrow the money from you?
Please, please...
See you know that you and I we don't like Fidel but Alex understands.
But you need to stop hammering and hammering to let this sink into her.
Don't be angry I won't bring this up again.
That will be the deal.
Whatever...
Rume must always talk.
Please leave me.
♪MUSIC♪
Teni.
Alex.
What are you doing here?
What am I doing here...
Why didn't you tell me back in school that you were coming over.
You can't just barge in here anytime you want.
You know am always busy.
Ohh.
Like right now.
Ok then umm...
Let me not keep you from your...
Business.
And it didn't end there, later that night Fidel came to the room,
in our hostel, with this bogus story of how his roomate girlfriend,
came over under the pretence of visiting his roomate and ended up seducing him.
This foolish girl believed him.
Uche who had been watching all along justv stood.
By the time she saw that she walked over to this girl,
and landed her one hot dirty slap.
Jacked Fidel,
Pushed him through the door.
Trust Uche now.
I would've cared for a moment like that.
I bet the look on your face was epic.
I won't even have run for you girls.
I will never forget that slap in my life.
It brought me back to reality.
Nse really missed.
Yeah.
This is what I refer to as a classic moment.
Why didn't we go to Unilag with you girls...
Ahh you too.
You were so in love then infact.
You say you were tired of Lagos and you might go off to Port-harcourt,
-to be with Joe. -Joe yeah
Well Nse...
Buggered off to the United Kingdom.
Honetly you guys missed out all the action.
The famous five.
Officially became the three musketeers.
And our film persuaded us.
Girls wanted to be us, boys wanted to be with us.
Ohh it was fabulous, we had a blast.
Oh my goodness.
Seriously Alex.
Truthfully.
I think you need to start to taking yourself a lot more seriously.
You're a beautiful actor.
You got numerous in lots of soft heart.
When it comes to your relationship,
your ass stinks.
Weren't we done with that already.
You try too hide but too hard and you are a man pleaser.
And that is such a bad thing.
I'm not saying it is.
I'm not.
But,
How do I put this nicely...
Well,
Alex what Nse is trying to say is that,
you play yourself too cheap with men.
It's not every time a man says jump you jump now.
Look at you.
I know men loaded to the teeth who will kill to be with you.
Look how beautiful you are.
At thirty five you don't look a day over twenty seven.
If I was a man I will be running after you.
But you know,
I think it's high time you look at yourself a little more closely.
Look at the mirror.
Perhaps you will discover a little more self worth.
And you know, learn to start appreciating yourself more.
Alright Alex, listen don't take this too hard okay.
We're not trying to belittle you or your relationship.
Darling you can do better you know that.
If that isn't what you're trying to do then what?
Look I appreciate you all being concerned about my relationship,
But my love life is not something I want you all analysing okay.
I owe no one here any explaination.
My relationship with Dapo is my business so please...
I don't want to hear anything about this anymore let's just change the subject.
Ok you're getting angry because we're advising you.
I didn't ask for your advise, did I?
It's somone who likes you that'd tell you that your mouth is smelling.
Right now it's smelling.
Rume...
Are you deaf? I said drop it!
Okay...
Give it a rest Rume okay.
What is it, bash Alex day.
Alright...
So one day,
He would get better.
He would get better.
Babe.
Where have you been Dapo?
I thought I told you before I left the house now.
That was two days ago.
Oh, I was at the studio recording.
So you expect me to believe that you were at the studio for two days.
Well yeah...
Babe you know how this things works now.
We were all there, me Sammy the producer.
Baby.
We are on the roll.
The creativity was mad, see we didn't want anything disrupting the flow.
I was at the studio today.
And I saw Sammy.
And you know what he told me...
He told me you left immediately after your session yesterday at 8pm.
I was there today and apparently you weren'teither.
So please for the love of God tell me where have you been for the past,
Twenty six hours and fourteen minutes.
You're already placing me right.
Oh don't pull that card on me Dapo.
Fine.
You know if you really must know babe.
I was out last night with the boys late drinking.
Babe see we drank too much, we decided to pass a night at Tommy's house.
I've been sleeping all day see I don't even...
You don't look hung over to me.
So what happened to your phone?
I called you numerous times and you didn't pick up.
Baby... the battery died now.
Dapo.
Don't play me for a fool cause am not one.
Baby am sorry.
-You're sorry... -Baby am sorry.
Baby.
You can spank me for being such a bad boy next time, am a bad boy...
Baby...
See come.
Baby.
Better mind yourself what do you mean by that, don't do that to me again.
Babe why... See now.
-What are you looking at. -Easy nothing, let's go inside.
See am going to take care of you.
I will rock you, I will look after you and make love to you.
Look, I know you guys must be thinking that am an idiot.
For falling for the same tricks over and over again.
But it's not complicated this time.
Dapo came into my life at the time when everything was just going so wrong.
Franklin just called off the wedding and,
I had found solice in alchol.
Of course the script stop coming because some producers heard,
that I had started hitting the bottle hard.
So they didn't want to have anything to do with me.
And am sure they didn't want another Modupe Lawal scandal on their hands.
Yeah Modupe Lawal.
You both hit the scene the same year.
Whatever happened to her?
Well she basically drank her career to death.
and no one heard from her since.
Poor little thing.
Ok back to Dapo.
Oh yes Dapo.
I'd like to say that we were destined to be because,
it was four months after the wedding was called off.
It was just one of those days I went to the bar, you know just to have my,
pity party drink fest.
I just ordered a bottle of brandy and then Dapo walked in.
The first he said to me was...
It's a long way to the bottom.
I was like fuck off...
He said it takes two to tango.
Do you need help with that.
I just ignored him.
Before I knew what was happening,
he told the bartender to put two bottles of brandy in front of me.
And then he said...
Whatever it is,
It's not worth dying over.
And then he looked at me,
and then he smiled the sweetest smile.
He said...
You know they make the best burger and fries here.
We should probably trade this bottles in.
Dapo.
Alex.
You know what...
Dapo actually helped me channel all that anger and pain into love.
Don't get angry please.
If I find this hard to believe.
You know the part you said Dapo help you channel all your anger and pain,
towards work.
For a man that is so dependent on a woman,
I find that hard to believe.
Don't be angry, you know I will always say my opinion.
What else is in you.
You just sat and allowed a small boy to be playing games with you.
Excuse me...
I'm sorry to interupt but I have another letter for you.
Thank you Stella.
Well, here goes.
Dear friends,
My marriage to chief was doomed from the start.
I tried to adjust to my situation but,
they are some things you just can't get used to.
Some people saying and then to love the one you're with.
Try as I mean I just couldn't bring myself to love him.
For Chief I was priceless.
A jewel, a beautiful young wife he showed off to his friends.
And why not.
After all my bride price was a hundred million naira.
All his wives hated me.
The sad wife cannot even stand the sight of me and didn't hide it.
Her feelings was so apparently concessive from miles away.
The way she went on about it one would think that she was the first wife.
I don't know what she had against me.
One minute she will be all smiles.
And the next she becomes this monster raining curses on me for no obvious reasons.
The second wife felt chief should've made me a domestic help.
So as to cope with the dirt instead of marrying me.
All the pampering and showing off stopped,
when it was found out that I could not conceive.
I was moved out of the family estate.
Away from the other wives and the children because I...
was a bad luck.
I was even promptly band from all family gatherings.
His wives rejoiced for their wish had finally come true.
Being a very superstitous man Chief didn't hesitate because he belived that,
we tamed his daughters with what he referred to as my curse.
Sex...
is forbidden.
Because we did not bare fruit.
If it happened he will lose his importance.
It's funny what they literally say to it right.
I had two affairs after that.
Both men ended up in hospital after Chief boys attacked them.
Chief even had someone follow me everywhere I went because,
he thought I would run away at the quickest opportunity.
He said he owned me and didn't want to lose his property.
I am a prisoner in my own home.
One place is my heaven.
How I remake...
I speak from experience when I say...
money can never take the place of true love or happiness.
It never came up with the phrase you can't buy love.
I knew exactly what they were talking about.
Love Uche.
Who would've thought that behind such a beautiful smile...
Was a wounded heart.
But how come Uche didn't tell any one of us that she was going through this...
She could've pick up the phone and called us.
At least she wasn't tied up.
Why are you talking like this.
Nse...
We don't know the extremity of the situation she was in.
Just one phone call could've make a difference.
I would've told my husband.
Or called my father.
The state police commissioner is my father's friend.
I could've pulled a string or two.
Maybe a phone call would've made a difference, then again maybe not.
What do you mean by that?
Don't you understand english, or you are just pretending to be an idiot.
Do not insult me Rume.
I only asked a question but feel free to take it that way, if you please.
I do not care for your tone Rume.
And I don't care Nse.
If you are that upset, please go jump in the lagoon.
Maybe that will help you cooldown.
Am I sensing some hostility in the air?
Hostility...
I beg your pardon Regina.
Nse Abasi you will never change.
Can't someone open her mouth where you are?
Since we arrived here, it's always been I think this, I know that.
You always think you know best.
Ever since we were girls you always felt how to control other people's life.
But guess what I didn't take it then, I mostly definitely won't take it now.
Stone-faced bitch!
What's all the anger about?
A minute ago we were talking about Uche for God sake!
Rume.
I do have a right to my own opinion,
and I certanily will not apologise for having a hold of my life.
And you Rume have no right...
No right to call me names.
Spare me the crap Nse.
You know,
If I didn't know better I would've agreed with you.
But you and I know this is just an act.
At least we don't have anything to hide my question is,
what are you so afraid of.
Regina are you just going to sit there and watch?
You know how these two get, let them tire each other out.
What are you getting at?
Correct me if am wrong your son is now what like...
sixteen years old.
Nse.
You have a son?
I don't have a son.
Yeah right.
Remember the time I stayed at yours, when you boasted about giving me solace.
Well...
I overheard you on the phone with Uche telling her about your long lost son.
Are you going to deny it now?
You eavesdropped on my conversations?
Oh I didn't eavesdropped Nse I overheard besides, that's not the point.
Why don't you explain to everyone about your son,
some more and what happened to him.
You had no right, Rume.
You had no right!
That was below the belt Rume and certainly uncalled for.
You don't go spilling people's secret like that.
You really overstepped your boundaries this time.
I don't know what came over me.
I was overwhelmed by anger.
I really should go and apologize to Nse.
Give her a little time.
We don't want this escalating into something else.
But Rume, when did you become such a miserable cow?
I think since the divorce I've just been stressed.
All the pain turned anger and frustration inside of me.
I just feel I want to explode.
I'm trying to adjust to this whole new setting.
It's not exactly been a walk in the park.
♪MUSIC♪
You should know better than to transfer your aggression.
Believe me.
You're doing yourself more harm than good.
I know because I have been there before.
You know...
after the divorce.
I asked myself where exactly I went wrong,
to warant such....
disappointment.
David was the total package.
I was married to the perfect man.
At least so I thought.
On that faithful day.
I got home.
To hear a loud music playing in the system.
I opened the front door.
I saw a woman dressed in my clothes.
She didn't hear me enter the front door.
Because she had her back to me and the music was deafening.
The first thing that came to mind was David had finally done it.
David had the audacity to bring a woman into our home...
Wearing my clothes.
I was filled with anger.
I pulled out the plug from the socket,
and the music stopped playing.
Immediately,
she spun around.
Behold...
Standing in front of me was my husband.
David was standing in front of me,
wearing my clothes...
my wig,
wearing my high heels and was totally made up.
To say I was speechless would be completely understating it.
Rume, you are home...
I thought you said you had a late meeting today.
Why are you dressed like that David?
Why am I dressed like this?
You heard me, David.
Rume.
Please take a seat.
That's how I found out about my husband's...
lifestyle.
David was a cross dresser.
His excuse,
that his mum and older sister used to dress him up like a girl when he,
was little and he remembers loving those moments.
So you never noticed anything all the while you were dating?
No.
Although once.
About the couple of months into our relationship.
Women's clothing and undergaments in his house.
And when I asked him, he said they belonged to one of his sisters.
And I wondered if his sister was size 10,
and this were size 14 clothing.
But I didn't push it any further.
When did you discover David in...
in the clothes.
It's okay to say women's clothing...
It was about a year into our marriage.
For me priority was...
just helping David overcome his demons and saving my marriage.
David promised to change.
He said my love was all the strength he needed,
to pull through.
For he was far gone.
There was no saving him.
That was who he was.
How was he was with Sophie?
Oh! He was a great dad.
Sophie made him light up,
and he absolutely loves her.
Things were okay for a while,
before David went back to...
being funny again.
I had an eighteen month old baby to raise,
and a husband who wasn't sure whether he wanted to be a mummy or a daddy.
I didn't want Sophie growing up with that trailing her.
I’d had enough,
I decided to ask for a divorce.
My family still does'nt know the real reason for the divorce.
You see David begged me to state infidelity as my reason.
So as to save face of course
Nse was the first person I called after I decided to leave David.
I stayed at her place for one month before getting a place of my own.
She's the only one who knows the real truth,
about my divorce.
Until now.
Well, I must say am surprised you would call Nse I mean...
You guy are always at loggerhead so...
Well,
I think am closer to Nse than I make out.
You know,
Nse was a true friend when I needed her.
You know,
Uche always expressed how she felt about my...
new lifestyle.
Yeah that's how she put it.
My new lifestyle.
She was convinced that I probably met the right guy but...
sent him to the door without even realizing it.
I gave my heart once.
It's never going to happen again.
Come on Rume.
You've only really had one shattered love.
There is someone out there waiting to love you.
Oh there are many men out there waiting, but am not sure they're going to get anything.
Well at least not my heart.
Come on Rume.
Don't you think you should re-evaluate.
I mean you have a young daughter that looks up to you.
I really think you should just consider what we are saying.
You're a fine one to talk.
You know, I really should go and apologize to Nse.
Hey.
Nse.
The last 15 months haven't exactly been easy for me.
Sophie is growing up really fast and...
She is very intelligent and inquisitive as well.
She says she wants to be a lawyer and a ballerina.
You know she turns three in two months.
And she says she wants a fairy-tale princess theme party...
Sophie started asking questions...
and,
I never know what to say to her.
Every time the coast is clear,
she starts with the questions again.
How do I begin to tell her that her father is...
Nse I only act tough to cover up all the emotions inside of me.
That doesn't excuse my behaviour you know...
Nse I just want to say am sorry, am sorry.
I know I can be a bit bitchy sometimes but you know,
I love you and the girls.
I can't imagine a life without any of you especially now.
I'm sorry.
I really am.
Nse am sorry.
I'm sorry.
Come here.
So you knew.
That part of the last letter, Uche's letter was directed at me.
And Sophie turns three in two months.
Exactly.
How time flies.
I can't believe I have missed two birthdays already.
Sophie probably doesn't hold that against you.
But I do.
I never seem to have time for anyone else but me.
And that needs to change Rume.
The last birthday that I remember attending is Zack's second.
No Zack second?
Yes.
That's... well that's a long time.
Zack is what nine...
Lily is seven.
Those two practically my niece and nephew.
Well hey, you're not the only one in the same boat.
We all have had our fair shares of missed birthdays and the rest things and the like.
Hey.
I missed your magazine launch remember?
Oh yes that...
So cut yourself some slack.
What?
I finally told the girls the truth about my divorce.
-Right... -Mm hmm
So,
I didn't miss anything while I was out here.
-No you didn't. -Oh thank you dear.
Yeah so...
Now that I'm forgiven, shall we go back inside?
Please...
Of course we should.
Let's go.
This is the life girls.
Oh you can say that again.
Uche thank you very much again am grateful.
What are friends for?
Besides you need all the pampering before your big day.
First they was three days and the resorts, now day fun at the spa.
I could get used to this you know.
It's was only three days at the resort not a trip to the Bahamas.
I don't need the Bahamas, this suits me just fine.
Thank you guys.
Look.
If I got a million naira each time you've said thank you,
which by my calculation is about ten times, I will be rich by now.
Girl you are rich already.
Don't you mean my husband?
Your husband is rich, you are rich, what's the difference.
Is your husband money not yours.
Okay.
So Regina how do you feel about getting married?
Honestly I have butterflies in my tummy.
You know... let's say it actually explains how I feel.
I'm beyond ecstatic.
I'm getting married to my best friend and the love of my life.
Please Regina.
This one you and Joe are getting married,
hope you guys won't litter us single girls.
Rume I would never do that we are a team remember.
We were beginning to wonder what happened to both of you.
-We didn't kill ourselves. -If that's what you thought.
So Nse when did you start smoking again?
I was just about to ask the same question, I thought you quit.
Weren't you and Uzo trying for a baby?
We were.
The last In-vitro we did,
failed.
I guess Uzo was tired...
Of the dissapointment and I on the other hand,
tired of the poking that brought in invasion.
The things women go through,
Can I ask you a question.
Why did you keep your son's existence a secret for so long?
Shame.
A lot of things complicated matters.
Dad was running for governorship.
and,
I was... I brought chief to the family.
A seventeen year old girl was pregnant.
As soon as we graduated,
Dad shipped me off to the United Kingdom.
No one even knew you were pregnant.
You remember Mrs Jegede the house mistress.
She knew.
She was mom's friend.
So she kept an eye on me while I went to school.
Now I understand why you moved into her house at the senior staff quarters.
Did you know who was responsible?
I was only seeing one man then one boy wasn't I?
Who's that?
Oh I think I remember him.
Moses Okojie.
But you only dated him in the final year.
Fine boy, very innocent face.
Who would've thought Moses was such a bad guy.
Rume.
This is no time for kidding around.
I wasn't so innocent after all.
When I told him I was pregnant he abandoned me.
Why didn't your parents do anything about that?
Politics.
Dad was taken, it swallowed him up, he didn't care about me at a time.
I think you see it now, did he eventually win the election?
So where is he now?
I don't know.
-What do you mean you don't know. -I said I don't know where my son is!
I'm sorry.
He was 11 months.
I gave him up for adoption.
Ok... now.
That part of the conversation I missed.
Financial instability is often sited as a reason,
but you are from a previleged home.
Pressure.
Pressure was too much.
Caring for that little boy.
The sleepless night.
My parents were not helping me either.
So,
How could your mom leave you,
in London with a baby.
Yeah that was Charmaine.
She was a good woman.
She was Jamaican.
She worked 7 hours a day.
She resumed at 12 noon.
But on this day,
She hadn't come.
I looked at him.
I hated him.
He cried, I hated his voice.
I never even gave him a name.
I could've killed him.
I got dressed.
I took the little thing away and give it up.
I kind of listen to the counsellor talk to me.
If I had listen, I heard nothng.
All I wanted to do was give the child away.
And I did it, I didn't care I signed the papers.
So what happened after that?
When I got home,
Charmaine was paid by them.
She called them.
Whelm cursed me it meant nothing.
She was far away.
It took her two days to get to us in England.
When she came it was late.
When we got there the next day,
I walked in, I smelled him, I felt him and I saw him.
In the arms of another woman and she loved him.
She loved the child that I hated.
How will the adoption agency allow you to do that without parent or consent.
I was over 18.
Oh yeah...
Does Uzo know about this?
No.
Don't you think he should know about it?
He will hate me.
He will hate me, he will keep being...
And the whole so pertect woman he won't like me, he will hate me.
Nse.
You have the best man in the world.
Uzo is...
kind,
patient.
Most of all loves and respect you.
I don't think a mistake you made as a teenager,
would change the way he feels about you.
He deserves to know.
The first letter that Uche wrote,
where she said,
that the one thing you giveaway,
could be the one thing that could give you closure.
Those were the exact words,
that she said to me when I told her.
All the excess baggage we just off loaded could crash a plane.
God please...
God please...
Back in secondary school,
Uche's smile is what drew me to her.
There was something about her smile,
something about her person in general
that,
made me feel...
safe.
I remember when I first met Uche.
The school bell had just gone.
Lunch break was over.
She was standing by the classroom door.
As I walked in, I rushed in,
and her books is scattered.
I expected her to hurl abuses at me but she didn't.
She smiled, she smiled, she just flashed a teeth.
And then even as a kid I felt the warmth.
Uche.
Now she's gone.
But this way I can study before...
Fantastic i'll be there don't worry.
Ok talk to you later bye.
Okay ladies...
We've got another letter.
I got it from Stella.
Here you go.
Thank you.
Let's see...
Back in our university days,
I fell in love with the sweetest boy ever.
His name is Benjamin Okoro.
He studied sociology as well but I was a class ahead of him.
It started out as an innocent friendship but our feelings grew,
as we discovered we had a lot in common.
About a week after I told Benjamin of my plight,
he proposed marriage and said he wanted me to elope with him.
I had found my soul mate.
We agreed to elope on the day of our graduation.
But I couldn't go through with it.
There were a lot of things at stake and eloping with Benjamin wouldn't,
have been the right thing to do.
I was concerned about him and didn't want to put him in a compromising position.
It broke my heart but I had to let him go.
True love is hard to find,
but never sacrifice happiness in the name of love.
Here's looking at you kid.
Love always.
Uche.
So Uche was having an affair with Benjamin?
I always suspected something went on between those two.
Who's Benjamin?
He was Uche's friend.
The both of them attended the same fellowship way back in school.
At least so they claimed.
But now,
we know what the fellowship were really about.
I'm shocked that they were able to keep it a secret for three years.
What was she thinking, what if her husband had found out.
That doesn't make a difference anymore now does it?
I honestly do not blame Uche.
I can totally relate how she felt.
So now that we know the last lines of the letters are directed to us,
who gets this one.
This one is for me.
Here's looking at you kid.
Where have I heard that from?
That's the famous line by Humphrey Bogart from the movie, Casablanca.
True.
Uche and I use to watch it every time I visited.
It was her all time favourite movie.
She practically knew all the lines.
She'd even make me play dress up with her act out the scene.
We would even toss coins.
And somehow Uche always won.
I think she cheated.
Oh ohh.
Yes?
Hey baby... how far with that money?
Look I can't do anything about that right now you'll have to call me back.
Baby... baby.
Why are you treating me like this now.
See Alex,
I've already booked a studio session, the guy has agreed as long as I pay tomorrow.
Baby I don't want him to embarras me there.
I said I can't do anything about that now.
If you can't do anything about it why don't you call that your friend Funke.
Let her bail you out.
Baby I told you that Funke and I we are through.
That entire episode was just a mistake now.
I don't remember the last time I say that girl's break light.
I hear you.
Alex, so you don't have anyone who can come down here and,
loan me the money when you come down you sort them out.
That's a wonderful idea Dapo.
Why don't you just go ahead and call a friend.
Alex, Alex.
Alex.
Alex is already angry.
Mama what's up?
What's up with you and your toy boy?
Don't mind the idiot, anytime he runs into a finicial fix he runs to me.
No day I have to pay either studio session or a new guitar or something.
He's been working on an album for how many months,
I haven't even heard one new song.
Oh no no no i'ts too much.
Every time he's in a jam he calls me what do I look like, mother christmas?
Well you let him freeload for so long.
What makes you think boy toy can change overnight.
Stop calling him that he's not a boy toy, he's twenty six.
Alex that's nine years younger than you.
That certainly qualifies him to be a boy toy.
So what if he's younger than I am?
Look my relationship with Dapo is purely based on...
Feelings?
Isn't that what you wanted to say.
Should I borrow you another word?
Who am I kidding?
Dapo is with another woman.
They've been together for eight years.
I think I told you.
Am not a bit surprised.
Her name is Funke and she works in one of the teaching hospital in Lagos.
Hospital.
I've actually had to change my number.
About three times now because I used to get threats from her.
And am sure that it's because of Dapo.
Them being in contact that's why she was able to have access to my number.
So that's why you kept changing your number.
And I was thinking cause because you're a celeb.
And that's what I thought as well.
Ok so wait, she's threatened you?
What did you do about it?
It was just a usual rants and waves you know, I'll show you...
Though once she used the words I'll kill you.
But, you know we girls we just say a lot of crap when we are angry.
Alex.
A witch flew at night then a child died in the moring.
Someone threatened you.
You were not even moved to be worried at least.
Alex you don't like yourself.
Stop being dramatic Rume she only said it once.
Darling once is enough to pass the message across.
Just once.
Alex you don't take things like that likely.
You should've reported to the police so they have it in record.
Please don't be angry, I just want to ask a question.
You people should help me answer it.
Between a person who has been with a man for more than eight years,
and the man hasn’t married her.
and the one who’s dating someone’s else’s boyfriend,
even though she knows it will lead no where, who is the bigger fool?
I'm only asking a question.
Alex don't get this wrong.
We are not criticizing you but only concerned.
I know we all have one issue or another but, that's why we are here.
I'm afraid i've been alone.
That's my biggest fear,
and problem.
I need a man to wake up to.
Aman to call during the day.
A man to hold my hand in public and not be afraid of a little PDA.
The man who would let me be me.
I had all that in Frank before I met Dapo.
And, all men see when they look at me is sex.
My being placed on top of Nollywood sex symbol.
Whatever, isn't exactly hepling.
Vanity upon vanity.
Tell me the truth Alex no seriously you don't like being referred to as sex symbol.
Of course I do.
But for some people when they just see sex, their mind just go to weird place.
Right after the list came out I started getting all sorts of strange callls from random men.
One time this illiterate trader actually called me and ask me how much I charged for sex.
Can you imagine.
You guys are laughing it wasn't funny then.
So sorry Alex.
He was very serious.
Hello Nne,
Is this Alex...
I saw your number in the paper.
You were number five in the Nollywood sex symbol.
How much do you charge for one hour?
I'm trying to pour my heart out here.
Sorry babe.
Put a stop in it girls.
Look.
I'm not as patient as you Regina,
or as tough and outspoken like you Rume, or even a good organiser like you Nse.
You all have your strength,
in your own unique ways.
As for me.
I'm a great actor, if I can humbly but,
when it comes to men am a total ditsy, I could be blonde.
I don't want to date a dozen men before I find my Mr. Right.
That's why am making do with Mr. Right now.
And that's Dapo.
He was the first man that didn't want to shag me right off the back so,
naturally that place is him at the top of the list.
This guy is a player Alex.
And he's playing his cards right with you.
It's sad you're giving him the advantage you have the winning card.
But you're letting him win.
So what are you going to do about this love triangle situation?
I honestly don't know.
I'm in love with Dapo but I don't really see a future with him.
You're one confused woman Alex.
You're not so sure about it.
Why are you still there with him?
I already told you am afraid of being alone.
So is that a good enough reason to stay with him?
Have you thought about how potentially dangerous this could be.
This Funke lady has made numerous calls threatening you.
Don't you think one day she'd make good her promise in order to keep her man.
After all, you are a threat to her happiness.
Regina are you the one talking?
What?
Say it again so I can hear it.
Please don't get involved with this matter at all.
Don't draw the ring here please.
Pot calling kettle black.
Do you really think it could get that bad?
I don't know am just saying, I could be wrong.
Let her try it now.
Unless she wants to draw a ring.
Are you scared Alex?
No i'm not afraid am just...
Worried.
It is worth worrying about.
We should never take such things likely or take them with a pinch of salt.
And just like Regina said.
Report the case to the police.
I would take my own advise.
I don't think he's worth the trouble Dapo.
Alex honestly, if push come to shove,
and Dapo has to choose between you and this his aunty Funke.
My bet is he would go with this Funke.
Truth be told.
I'm with Rume on this one.
That boy sees you as an in road to the zenith of his career.
And you his ladder he just like.
I'm going to need some time to think.
-Alex. -That's enough!
Let me finish.
We can only give you advice but it's up to you to make your descision.
Whatever you decide we'll be there to support you.
Take your advice love.
Dear friends,
I never knew how to go about telling you all what my life was like.
It's pretty hard to let the tears flow in front of loved ones,
when you are that shoulder they need to cry on.
A lot of times I wanted to scream out loud and hoped someone would just hear me.
I tried but the words just never came out.
I had a voice but I couldn't speak.
I had been locked up for so long and had become a prisoner in a home,
that was once my refuge.
It's a great sacrifice when you put others before you,
but sometimes you only need one look in the mirror to see the scars.
We all are guilty here.
It's funny how we all ran to Uche with our problems,
But we never spent a second to notice she was going through stuff herself.
I guess we were so into hallowing our problems subconciously Uche became the listening ear.
I always admired Uche's strength.
She always seem to have everything under control.
Not even a strand of hair was out of place.
And to think that she was going through all that,
for this long.
Excuse me,
does anyone want anything to drink?
Well i'd like a glass of red wine.
A glass of water for me please.
For me, vodka and cola, Stella thank you.
Stella.
Yes ma'am.
Do you mind sitting with us for a bit?
But ma'am I need to get to the kitchen to get your drinks.
The drinks can wait for a while this is about most utmost importance.
Please sit.
You've been working here for a while now.
I want to believe you knew your madam very well.
Is there anything different about her before her passing?
A lot of things different for her.
Life to my madam was,
very hard emotionally.
It seemed like every day was forced upon her.
Somedays,
She wouldn't leave her room or eat a thing.
Other days she would drink herself to stupor.
I always prayed for a change.
The way Chief treated her was not humane at all.
If you ask me all that talk about not believing in divorcing is all nonsense.
She was just a mere possession.
A property he didn't want to give or throwaway, so he put her in a box and forgot about her.
I never anticipated that it would end like this.
Did she ever say anything to you?
Madam Uche was like a daughter to me.
And she confided a lot in me.
You know,
she wanted to reach out to all of you.
But you were all so concerned about yourselves,
you've never bothered to find out how she was.
Stella don't say that.
We would never abandon Uche.
But you did.
You all did.
You were the only family she had,
and none of you were here when she needed you most.
Did you know that she was being treated for depression?
The night before she,
before she died.
We had a long chat.
She seemed positive.
She talked about how cruel life had been and,
how she had come to accept it as her faith.
I encouraged her to be strong,
and to pray for an intervention.
She had a smile on her face and,
you would never had guessed.
Before I went to bed that night she,
she handed me some letters.
I asked if she wanted me to post them but she said to hold on to them.
I didn't dwell on it.
It wouldn't be the first time she'd give me,
something to hold on to and to keep for safe reasons.
As I made to leave the room,
she called out.
When I turned around she,
she walked up to me and
she gave me a big hug.
And said thank you with a big smile.
By noon the next day when she didn't come downstairs,
I went to check on her.
Uche didn't commit suicide. that's not what you told us.
That's not what you told us, Uche didn't commit suicide it’s not true.
And you waited till now to tell us.
I had specific instruction.
Not to tell us?
We've been here all day and you just sat there and waited to be asked.
For crying out loud this is about Uche not a total stranger.
Is that how they do things.
If you let me, I will explain.
I don't care to listen to anything else you have to say.
Rume.
This is a huge shock to you as much as to us.
Please let Stella talk.
Rubbish what more has she got to say.
Alex.
Alex.
Alex.
-My God. -Help me get some water.
Breath, breath come on, take a deep breath.
Come on.
In...
and out.
Relax try one more time.
Just do as she says do as Regina says.
Out.
Here dear have some water it wiill help.
Drink some more.
Just do as she says.
Now just relax.
That's fine.
I'll go check on Rume.
What the hell are you trying to do, drown me?
Drown you? I was trying to save your life.
Really?
Well, you were under the water.
What do you mean by that Nse?
What do you...
Ohh no.
You thought I was going to kill myself why would I want to do that.
Rume.
I came out looking for you and then you are the bottom of the pool,
and with all the things happening, Uche's death people deal with grief differently.
Nse I may do a lot of crazy stuffs a lot of times.
kKilling myself trust me it's not one of those.
I have a little girl to look after.
I'm sorry okay.
It's okay.
While you were in there,
Alex had an episode.
What do you mean about episode?
She washyperventilating, breating funny and you know I can't deal with those things.
You know how Alex can be.
Are you sure that was not one of her attention seeking ploy.
Of course not it was serious this one was really serious,
she was breathing funny and all that but I guess she's fine now.
You know I still can't believe Uche took her own life.
Me neither.
How does a person get to that level.
I've got no idea Rume I wish I understood.
You know,
I'm angry.
You're angry.
They both hurt,
angry you know about everything that's happening.
And Uche's death,
really tough for us.
I guess we should just...
go back,
and listen to what Stella has got to say.
Because she's just the only person who really knew her.
She was closest to her.
So...
I just say let's go back inside.
Change our clothes, dry our hair.
It's the only, way I don't know.
Cause I can't.
Is it not me.
Please.
-Okay. -Alright that's it.
Come on.
Go on...
And that's why I didn't tell Nse exactly how she died.
It's still was not right though.
It was a dead woman's wish.
I don't know about you my dear,
but I believe in respect for the dead.
What if one of us had gone into shock I mean,
if something terrible had happen to one of us you know the story would be different by now.
Look at what happened to Alex.
Rume am okay now.
Stella,
the fact that we've all been putting up a brave face here does not mean we are not hurting.
Uche's death has been very difficult on us.
And now this,
it's a whole new ball game.
Does her husband know?
Chief.
I informed him,
immediately I discovered Uche.
All I got back was money for the funeral arrangements,
nothing more.
Not even a visit,
or a call.
It goes to show that,
Uche meant absolutely nothing to him...
Just a mere possession.
When it's broken, he throws it away.
Even if death,
he still treats her the same.
Please excuse me.
Oh I almost forgot,
Here's another letter for you.
If you need me i'll be in the kitchen.
I'm sure by now you're all probably asking a lot of question.
Thinking about possible options I could've chosen and wondering why I chose this road.
I didn't have what you all have.
And I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I did what I had to do because it was the only way out of the misery I call my life.
So don't cry for me because I chose to leave.
Maybe,
Maybe now,
I can’t get the love that I truly deserve.
I'm sorry for the pain you are feeling right now.
Please forgive me.
Till we meet again.
Love always.
Uche.
I'll talk to you tomorrow.
How else.
Always hard.
Okay...
Regina are you okay?
How are your kids?
They're fine.
I think my mom knows about what's happening in my house.
How did that happen?
Zack and Lily are over at my mum's till I get back.
She said they've been glued to each other since I dropped them off this morning.
Her suspicions grow when she wanted to braid Lily's hair,
and Zack stood guard beside her.
She asked him to sit down, he refused.
And said he had to protect his sister.
Didn't she see you when you dropped them off?
No she didn't.
I remained in the car.
I really think you should've told your mom about this from the start.
Violence in the home affects kids as much.
Sometimes even more than the adults.
I read somewhere.
That many of this children who grow up in such environment,
Grew up to see violence as a means to an end.
And they grow up to become psycho killers.
You know what, I actually saw this on the crime channel.
A mom who was in an abusive marriage, she took out her frustration on her son.
And then the son started venting and then he killed all their farm animals.
I mean, even the family cat wasn't spared.
What!
Yeah, an he went on to become a serial killer, he murdered 12 women in the state of Texas.
What is wrong with both of you.
Are you trying to get her scared?
Then it's working.
-Oh no... -Oh sorry Regina please.
Things used to be so great.
How did I let it get this far?
I need to go to bed.
Stella.
Yes ma'am.
Could you please show me to my room.
Yes, please follow me.
Regina, am so sorry.
Rume.
It's not anything you said.
I have been through a lot in last 48 hours,
and i need a bit of rest.
And I suggest you all do the same because we have a long day tomorrow.
I'll see you in the morning, good night.
So I guess that's our cue then.

I also have another letter for you.
As instructed by madam Uche her letter to me I was to give it to you just before you leave.
Can't you do with that already.
Thank you.
Who would like to do the honors.
Why don't you.
Dear friends,
We spend a lot of time chasing those things we think will make us happy,
making plans,
and worrying whether they will come to light.
But we all eventually leave this world.
And in the end,
it's the little things that count.
So go ahead and make the best of the time you have with those who really matter.

Zack, Lily why don't you go into grandma's room to watch cartoons.

Hey Rume it's been a while.
Hello David.
How are you and Sophie?
We are doing fine.
Listen Sophie turns three in two months.
Yes I remember I would get her a present.
Actually I was hoping you'd be able to make it.
For Sophie.
David.
I don't think that would be a good idea.
Sophie has started asking questions David.
It would be a good idea for you to come by perhaps just help ease this questions.

I think we have an agreement and we should stick to it.
Sophie would get pass this phase very soon.
I have to get back to what I was doing okay, take care.

You are my wife.
And I made a promise to be with you for whatever situation.
and that's how it's going to be.

It's been months since the trip to Abuja.
And a lot has happened since then.
Alex is dating again.
This time he is a doctor...
and definitely not struggling.
Three months into their relationship he proposed marriage to her.
It was something that she had always wished for.
Regina filed for a divorce from Joe.
She and her kids now live with her mother.
And it's a temporary arrangement.
She got a part-time job as a research assistant and also enrolled herself at the
state university where she began a degree course in business management.
In order to keep Joe away from her kids, she moved them to a different school.
Things are a little tough,
but with Joe out of the picture, they are happy.
Still haunted by her past, Nse hired a UK based private investigator to find
to find her long lost son.
So far, there have been no leads but she is hopeful.
Since opening up to her husband about her son, their relationship has moved to fantastic.
Nse and Uzo are in the process of adopting a baby,
and are looking forward to becoming parents.
Happy birthday....
Rume threw a lovely third birthday party for Sophie.
The girls were all present and so was one of Rume's male admirers.
He was one of those richilliterate men.
He couldn't keep his hand off her even in front of guests.
To everyone's surprise though, David turned up contrary to what he had said.
Sophie was excited to see him.
Julian stayed glued to David the whole time and intermittently they whispered
into each other's ears, laughed and giggled a bit like young girls enjoying some hot gossip.
The chemistry between them was so apparent.
It turns out Rume's joke was the truth.
It was a good thing the girls were there or Rume would have caused a scene.
It was Sophie's day after all and she was happy to have daddy there.
