This is kind of more my project that I wanted to get done
before we had the second baby.
We've been together about five years.
We've been married just over two.
We were on vacation one time, and I asked him
what he liked about me, and he said,
"You're hot. You're fun, and you're cool."
Yeah.
I run the ship at home.
I joke she's, you know, in charge
of household operations, where I'm in charge of finance.
So the problem is, the kitchen,
it has dark cherrywood.
- Yeah. - There's been a few owners,
so it's just kind of mix-and-match.
- Yeah. - And nothing flows.
What are you looking to spend?
Budget is between $40,000 and $50,000.
I think that's a good enough number to start with, hopefully.

With small children, I feel like this is dangerous.
It should be moved.
I think we should shift the refrigerator
to where the oven is, and then we can put a nice
combination of a stove and a cooktop right here,
and then we can shift the pantry to this wall.
Oh! You can have
the coffee set up, your coffee machine.
You can use uppers to put
the coffees away and everything else,
and it'd just be, like, your little area.

and humping anything.

I brought some design materials.
So I went with the really mid-century-modern look
with also a little bit of a modern flair.

So I couldn't find the exact cabinet I'm looking for,
but I'm thinking along the line of this color but flat-panel.
Sounds great. Love flat-panel look.
And I was thinking a white quartz countertop.
Very durable for kids.
You can spill things on it.
You can do whatever you want, and it lasts forever.
That was my next question.

Lastly, to give this kitchen some flair...

and I think it really ties everything together.

that will look amazing with the combination of this
that we can do throughout the rest of the house?

Yes. Luckily, there's a very fine,
easy defined transition across these two rooms,
so I think it'll look totally nice,
especially when this one is laid in herringbone.
It'll be very easy to do the rest of the house.
As long as you think it will transition well.

with bi-fold doors really running
the length of this back wall.

and it would be very mid-century modern,
but I've done this in the past,
and it's really expensive.

and, honestly, all in, you're looking at, like,
