She's been living in L.A.,

but she moved back to Orange County to help take care

of her mom who's moving into a retirement community.

The move back to Orange County has been different,

Designing for clients is sort of new for me.

I'm usually just thinking about buyers in general.

On one hand, designing for a friend

should take some of the stress out of it.

On the other hand, if she doesn't like it,

I'm gonna have to live with that every time I visit her.

So we could easily carry out this peninsula

and bring it far out, get rid of this,

and instead, do an overhang

I'm driving a '65 Mustang on a Sunday with the roof down.

We spend some days just driving around

Newport Beach, looking for houses that

we like that might be for sale.

And Ant being a car guy,

loves driving us around in one of his vintage cars.

I met Ant through a mutual friend

and it was basically love at first sight.

- I like how it bounces. - This?

Yeah, it's the engine mobile.

It's therapeutic.

I love that you love cars.

It's perfect.

He's like a manly man.

He's a mechanic on a car show.

He handles me and my whole life very well.

And do you find him attractive?

I've been thinking about selling the house

in Yorba Linda for over a year.

I bought that house with Tarek and fixed it up with him,

so it's time for me to move on.

Once we're gonna have such a beautiful kitchen,

it has to go with the whole house.

When I do a flip and something comes up,

Here, when it's a client or a friend,

I feel so much worse.

someone's finances, it makes it super stressful.

So before we start talking design,

I mean, I just have to say, how'd your date go?

is that I get to catch up on her personal life,

and I especially love hearing about all of her dates.

On my first date with Ant, he walked me to the bathroom

Let's talk design.

So I know you really - wanted to do white. - Yes.

However, I think that what's gonna

make such an impact in here

is if we do all white walls and we go with gray cabinets.

That's a pretty dark gray cabinet.

Okay, let me just show - you what goes with it. - Okay, all right.

- And you might change your mind. - Okay.

- This is incredible. - It's beautiful, it's gorgeous.

Is it marble?

It's quartz that looks like marble.

I mean, look at that with this cabinet.

That does look gorgeous.

- Backsplash. - Ooh.

And final touch-- floors.

Ooh, I love those floors.

Those are beautiful.

No, I like that.

I just was really set on having an all-white kitchen.

I think it'll just look a little plain.

So like any good relationship, we can disagree about things.

But I think just like any good relationship,

it's all about the compromise.

I think if we do any type of white,

this just isn't gonna work, - which is fine. - Mm-hmm.

We can pick another backsplash.

How do you feel about two-tone?

We can still do white uppers.

But we can do that charcoal lowers.

The two different color cabinets are gonna be

the best of both worlds for Cassie.

We'll do white uppers, gray lowers,

and a whole wall of gray cabinets around the fridge.

I'm thinking a gray and white marble backsplash

will really help tie the cabinets together,

and brass hardware will really add a nice pop to the space.

We need to bring our bikes down here.

I brought Ant to the Back Bay to see the area

and to point out some houses

that look really nice from the water.

And Ant told me to block out some time to check out a place.

An agent saying that they represent the house,

they phoned me up

and said that we can go - and see it when we want. - So they do wanna sell.

I mean, they must wanna sell if they're gonna phone us, yes.

Seems a little too good to be true, doesn't it?

People are strange.

There's a few reasons why I wanna move to Newport.

It has great schools.

It has amazing restaurants.

We all love the beach.

The weather's just so much nicer.

It's just a different lifestyle, and it's just something

that suits our current family better.

Back Bay is so pretty on this side.

Yeah, it's nice. I like it.

Look. We can rent a little canoe.

That's so cute, huh?

We had a lot of options for backsplash,

and there are so many beautiful things we could have chosen,

but I think the herringbone looks perfect in there.

It's really modern, but still a classic look

that she'll never get sick of.

All right, we have an amazing kitchen design going.

Now we need to put everything else together.

So let's talk fireplace.

So what are you thinking?

Like, what's your dream fireplace situation?

You know, I would love to have something,

really a huge statement piece.

I don't know if it's maybe we can take it

all the way up to the ceiling with something cool

like really nice - graphic cement tile. - Mm-hmm.

That would look beautiful.

So in order to do that,

we basically have to reframe the fireplace.

We'd have to carry it to about right here, build it up.

So you're talking the construction cost of that

and the reframing.

And then, cement tiles are kinda heavy.

It costs extra to install those as well

because you have to use something to

really secure those.

When you say extra, how much is this gonna cost?

I would say like $8,000.

but a lot of times, people have a vision in their head

basically in the inlay right here,

simple and like $1,500.

and just a home that is mine and I come to
