The Katas Raj Temple holds a sacred place for the Hindu community

The Katas Raj complex has Hindu and Buddhist holy places as well as Sikh shrines

Katas Raj Temple located in District Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan

Almost 160 Away From Capital OF Pakistan Islamabad

and almost 808 km Away From Indian Capital New Delhi

There is also a spring between the temples of Katas Raj

According to Hinduism, Shiva wept over his wife Sati

Two tears fell due to crying, one in Pushkar i.e. Ajmer Sharif

And the second tear fell in Kataksha i.e. the present Katas Raj

The village named Katas is so old that it is also mentioned in the Hindu holy book Mahabharata,

written 300 years before the birth of Jesus.

The importance of this place is also that four Vedas of Hindus

were written here

Earlier this pond was called Viskund

Viskand means poisonous pool

At present, the total area of this holy pond Named Amrit Kund Pond or the pond of life is

In This Katas Raj Complex Has Almost 12 Temples

Out of these twelve temples, seven temples

Apart from this, there are also Sikh and Buddhist holy places here

The Buddhist stupa here was built during the reign of Ashoka the Great,

about three centuries before the birth of Jesus.

At the time this stupa was built, it was about 200 feet high and had about 10 fountains around it.

Hinduism began to flourish after the Gandhara Empire

After that, between the seventh and tenth centuries AD, temples began to be built at various places

Some historians also say that the temples started to be built around 66 BC

Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikh religion, visited here

Ranjit Singh kept coming here

Hari Singh Nalwa mansion is also located here

Hari Singh Nalwa had taken the Sikh frontiers up to the Khyber Pass during his military leadership

In the mansion of Hari Singh Nalwa, the Ganesha deity i.e. the elephant-headed

deity and many precious objects are still there in their original condition.
