We're really going nature nesting in the great outdoors.

I know. I'm so excited for an over-day trip.

I've never slept away from home before.

I can't wait to sleep outside in the toasty sunshine.

Beak sunscreen? Don't worry. I brought extra for everyone.

- All right! - Good thinking, Sue.

That's so awesome.

All right. Let's head out to the Great Pine Forest beyond Treetopington.

Now, who can tell me which direction we should fly to get there?

- Hmm. - Hmm. Which way is it?

- Wait, is it this way? - That way?

- That way. - Huh?

It's about 15 trees past the world's largest pine cone,

just to the left of the clearing.

That's right, Sue. Would you like to be our navigator and show us the way?

Why, yes, I would. I know this forest like the back of my wing.

Sue is so helpful. Sometimes it feels like she's the best at everything she does.

I know what you mean.

[sighs] I wanna be the best at something.

Well, I'm the best at hiding treats in my feathers.

- Who wants a blueberry? - [gasps]

- Cool. - Ooh! Me! Me!

Come on, Hoot Troop. Let's fly.

[inhales deeply] Hmm. Smell that piney air.

Now, it's time to choose a nest buddy.

A nest buddy shares a nest with you for the whole trip.

Okay. Being the best nest buddy might be harder than I thought,

[gasps] This is my chance to help Sue have a great trip.

I'll find the softest, comfiest twigs in the whole forest for our nest.

They're down there somewhere.

I got the comfiest, coziest twigs ever for our--

I know you love the color green, so I added some leaves too.

[hoots] I saw some tasty looking pine cones over there.

Pine cones! Delicious. That'll be perfect.

Ooh, Kiera's going to love this.

Wait a minute. Look at that pine cone.

[both] Wow.

It's covered in delicious pine sap.

What a yummy surprise.

[groans, sighs]

Then we shall walk.

Okay. It's been a journey, but we found this pine cone--

and I only found one measly pine cone. And I'm still sticky from it.

[sighs] I've got one more chance to be the best nest buddy ever.

Hey, Jacob, let's go find a branch with a great view.

Great idea, nest buddy.

[gasps] I'll find a spot for Sue and me to watch the sunrise.

That'll really help her have a great trip.

This is lovely.

Plenty of space.

But how's the view?

Trees, trees and more trees.

[groans] We won't be able to see the sunrise at all from here.

Better find another branch.

Now, this is a great view.

- It's the best spot to watch-- [shouts] - [snoring, shouts]

Oops. Sorry, friend. I'll find another spot.

- [grumbles] - Okay,

I need a branch with a great view and no sleepy caterpillar.

[gasps] Sweet squirrels, that's it!

Diary, I don't know what to do anymore.

It's like no matter how hard I try,

I'm having such a great trip.

Now that I'm not worried about being the best,

I can enjoy all the helpful things Sue did for me.

I can hear owlball calling.

There's a little sap on the branch. Wouldn't want to step on that.

- It's really stuck. - [Sue] Oh no.

I wasn't ready. Now my special owlball is stuck. [sighs]

But don't worry. We'll get it unstuck.

I can't wait to see the solution you owlets come up with.

Hold on. I need a second to think.

But we've got to get back to owlball.

It was almost my turn. What should we do?

Well, the owlball is bouncy...

- If we kick it, it might bounce out. - Yeah.

I can kick it really hard.

Are you sure that's a good idea?

Only one way to find out. Kiera.

- Wait. What if it gets-- - ...Kiera.

[screams]

More stuck.

Oops. Sorry, Jacob.

Aw, my special owlball.

We'll get it back somehow. What do you think we should do?

[gasps] We've got the vine.

Maybe we can use it to get the ball out.

- How? - The sap from the branch.

We can use it to stick the vine to the ball.

And then tug it, just like tug-the-vine.

- Oh, I see. - Wow.

[all groaning]

- [Jacob] Almost there. - Keep pulling. Keep tugging.

[all] Whoa!

[cheering]

I knew you could do it.

- [Carlos] Wowee. - [Lucy] Yay.

[Kiera] That's super awesome.

Jacob doesn't do things at the same speed as I do.

And now I know that's a good thing.

When we gave him time,

he came up with a flap-tastic idea to get his special ball back.

And it turned out so--

The vine is stuck to the ball.

I don't think we are going to be able to play owlball.

Maybe there's a new game we can play with it.
