Original subtitles

Now we need to talk about breaking the symmetry.

So right now we do have the symmetry broken on the z-axis,

but I think the bottom looks a bit weird and boring,

so I'm going to actually press Alt-X with Hard Ops

and mirror on the z.

I think this shape looks really cool

when we have it mirrored on the z-axis,

this particular shape.

So you know, you can kind of play with that.

But another way to easily break the symmetry,

because right now it's even on both sides,

it's identical.

I could chop off this half and mirror it,

it would be the same.

So in order to break the symmetry,

we could do very, very simple changes.

So for example, one easy way to break the symmetry here

might be to introduce an element,

kind of like this.

Now make sure you do it on the mirrored side,

so maybe here.

I'm going to cut through.

And doing something as simple as that

is a really easy way to kind of break the symmetry

on your object.

Doing that is just going to make the model feel

a lot less monotonous.

You don't always have to do this,

it just depends what you're going for.

But breaking the symmetry is really a great way

to just kind of, you know,

enhance the look of your design even more.

So there's plenty of different ways to do it.

You just have to kind of play with shapes

and figure out what works for you.

But sometimes you might just want to keep it

perfectly symmetrical, and that's okay.

The most important part is figuring out

what is going to be good for your style

and aesthetic, and it could be

such simple ways to break the symmetry.

I could even come in here

and introduce an element like that.

I don't want to cut it halfway through.

Again, I want to kind of keep these details

more biased towards the one side.

So,

maybe here I could

put like a slice operation.

And then that's another way to break the symmetry.

You see what I mean?
