Daly: Tonight...

* I'll keep dancing on my own *

Niall.

Chance.

Daly: ...two new superstar coaches...

The youngins are killin' it right now!

Whoo!

...Kelly Clarkson returns...

I'm home. She changed the locks.

Daly: ...and Blake Shelton builds his final team.

It's the "Best of the Blinds..."

That was the best audition we've seen here by a long shot.

"...Battles..." Oh, my God.

We've got the most talented people in the world

going head-to-head.

Daly: We got two steals! There it is!

The playoff pass!

A "Voice" first!

"...and Blake."

You could be the last person

that I will ever hit this freakin' button for.

I was nervous I was gonna be sad, but I'm not.

I'm just having a blast.

Whoo!

Daly: Tonight, we'll get insight

on how our coaches built their teams.

Oh, my God! Please!

I'm always looking for someone with a story to tell.

That's right in my wheelhouse.

Yes!

I am so excited to win this show with you!

I look for, like, people to show who they are as artists

and as vocalists and to let their style shine through.

[ Chuckling ] God, I just love this.

This is the last battle rehearsal. Wow!

Daly: And celebrate the cowboy's historic sendoff

with a look back at his last decade as a coach.

It has to start with a great voice.

That's what I'm gonna miss the most is sitting here

with a front-row seat to some of the best concerts

that anybody has ever seen.

That was one of them.

Daly: Plus, you won't want to miss an exclusive performance

by our Season 23 coaches.

* I can't take my eyes off of you *

* You'd be like Heaven to touch *

[ Laughs ] * And I want to hold you so much *

* This is the Voice *

[ Cheers and applause ]

Welcome to "The Voice,

the Best of the Blinds, Battles, and Blake."

I'm Carson Daly.

Tonight, we're giving you another look at everything

that's led up to this point in the competition.

But first...

This is my last season. This is my last season.

23 seasons. The last time I'm gonna ever get to do this.

What?

Kelly: I don't know if y'all have heard yet,

but it's Blake's last season.

Chance: Blake is doing this one move

where he tells everybody that it's his last season.

[ As Blake ] I would be honored

if you were on my last ever Team Blake.

[ Laughter ]

Oh, I like it when you do this right here.

Kelly: He seems to be milking it.

My last team.

Just a little bit. Yep.

This is my last season. What?

Niall is gonna be the new king of "The Vo--"

I'm passing the baton.

Blake: Last season was my ninth win,

and I came back one more time to try to get that 10th win.

You pick me as your coach,

and I will quit coaching after this season.

[ Laughter ]

This is my last chance

to change an artist's life for the better.

I'll say the number and you tell me

what you think I'm referring to.

7,200.

What would you think that is? That's got to be the amount of songs

that my artists have sang, right?

7,200 pounds of calamari you've consumed.

[ Laughs ]

Watch your finger.

Daly: Blake has made over 500 episodes of "The Voice."

He's coached over 250 artists

and has won nine times. Yes!

Now, let's take a look at the last team he'll ever coach.

Blake used his last block ever on Kelly

when his first artist, Neil Salsich,

got a four-chair turn.

* Well, I stopped into every place in town *

* City life has really got me down *

* I got them honky-tonk blues * No!

* Hey, them honky-tonk blues *

Well, I'm bummed 'cause Blake blocked me.

I don't remember doing it.

Kelly: Literally, I get back Season 23

and the first moment Blake can, he blocks me?

I think he's threatened, folks.

Daly: Singer/songwriter Carlos Rising also joined Team Blake.

* If I could change the world *

Blake: Carlos is incredibly talented,

and he was completely in sync with the band.

I'm really excited to get a chance to work with Carlos.

A little parting gift for you. Oh, thank you.

"I'm on Blake's last team...

and all I got was this lousy shirt."

Daly: 24-year-old Nashville bouncer Walker Wilson

muscled his way onto Blake's team.

* But nobody taught her, it takes a lot of water *

* To wash away New Orleans *

Good to meet you, brother.

Daly: Blake also picked up Tasha Jessen

who came to "The Voice" to spread an important message.

Tasha: The reason I'm here

is just to show little girls in Pakistan

that would look at the show and be like, "She's Pakistani!"

Like, it's possible.

* And take me to your river *

* And I wanna go *

When I heard her voice, I just knew I loved it.

* Take me to your river, baby *

Sogood to meet you.

I think it's better to meet you.

Your voice is hard to define,

which is the best thing you could ever have going for you.

Thank you so much.

I felt the urgency in Tasha's performance.

You could win if you get on my team.

I'm working with some of the biggest songwriters

and producers on the planet.

Bragger. [ Laughter ]

Oh, you're already taking the --

Like father, like son, huh?

[ Cheers and applause ]

I think I pick Blake.

Yes! All right!

Niall: Me and Blake are getting along really well.

We've got a good little bromance going.

But he broke my heart when he stole Tasha from me.

And I will get him back.

I didn't see that coming at all.

I do feel this father-son bond with Niall.

Fighting Irish my ass.

Mostly because he disappoints me a lot.

This is gonna be a fun relationship to develop.

What the hell just happened? Ha!

Daly: Blake also added strawberry farmer Kason Lester.

* 'Cause I try to see the good in life *

* But good things in life are hard to find *

Daly: And pop-soul singer Kylee Dayne

had Blake battling it out with our rookie coaches.

Kylee: I keep having dreams about singing,

like, on the "Voice" stage.

I get to, like, the part where I'm about to walk on

and it's like, you know, when you dream

and then you're falling and you wake up

before you hit the ground?

It's like that.

* I never gave you everything, I wish I could *

* I should've seen it coming from where you stood *

* But now I'm *

Blake: Kylee has tons of character in her voice,

and she really is an original.

There's nobody else like her.

Oh!

[ Cheers and applause ]

Whoa! [ Laughs ]

Blake: Kylee was so good,

I literally had to bring out the giant foam finger

just to convince her.

I have to pick Blake.

Yes!

Team Blake is on an absolute roll right now.

That's a big finger, isn't it?

Big finger, yeah.

No, it's one of the bigger fingers I've seen.

Daly: Still to come... Oh, my God!

...our coaches continue to build their teams...

Kelly. [ Screams ]

Daly: ...and then take them to battle...

I've had an idea.

...where, for the first time in "Voice" history,

the all-new Playoff Pass

sends artists straight to the playoffs...

I'm just so grateful for just being in this moment.

[ Cheers and applause ] Daly: Oh!

...bypassing the knockouts.

They invented it for me.

I'm using my Playoff Pass!

[ Cheers and applause ]

There's never been a bigger honor on "The Voice."

* This is "The Voice" *

Daly: Welcome back to the "Best of the Blinds, Battles, and Blake."

Do we all still have our blocks?

Yeah. You blocked me.

You don't have your block anymore.

I didn't -- I don't think that was me.

I think I still have mine. Do you have yours?

You're so full of it.

You used your block for Neil. Yeah.

I know the names of your team members. [ Laughs ]

No, Niall. Niall said he used his block. [ Laughter ]

No, no, Neil is the person on your team.

[ Laughter ]

Daly: Blake continued to build his blinds team,

adding a 43-year-old rocker with a unique edge.

Alex: I worked as a tube driver

in London Underground for 18 years.

Coming out to Hollywood was something I dreamed about

while I was on the front of the train.

You do know we're English, right?

[ Laughs ]

This is -- This is torturous. This is like the worst thing ever.

[ Laughter ]

* And I won't try to understand *

* Let the devil take tomorrow *

What are you doing?

I've never had a chance to work with a country singer

from London, and I like it, Alex.

And you've braided your beard nicely for television.

[ Laughter ] I mean, you just look badass.

Blake: I would have assumed he just came here

from a biker rally in Deadwood or something.

This guy is business.

He came here to sing and win "The Voice,"

and he's gonna do it his way.

That's good stuff.

* Let me in *

Daly: Blake went head-to-head with Chance

for his next artist.

* Go easy on me, baby *

* I was still a child *

* Didn't get the chance to *

Chance: I think EJ had great stage presence,

and I think that I could pick the right songs for him.

I really want him to be on my team.

My name is EJ. I'm from Draper, Utah,

about 10 hours' drive away from here.

Beautiful.

That's cool. I didn't know where Utah was, directionally.

I know where Utah is.

[ Laughter ]

I'm gonna have to go with Blake.

Yes! Chance: But he chose Blake,

so we're excited to hear him sing

Tim McGraw next time, I guess.

**

Daly: Next, 17-year-old Mary Kate Connor

became the youngest member of Team Blake.

* I can't look at the stars *

Kelly: Mary Kate is so cool, y'all.

She's gonna represent that younger generation of country.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Yeah! Hi!

Blake: I feel like I'm a good coach at working with young talent.

I choose Blake. Yes!

Blake: Mary Kate is the kind of artist that I love to work with,

and I've had a lot of success with these kind of artists.

Thank you!

Man: Ladies and gentlemen, Niall Horan!

[ Cheers and applause ]

[ Country music plays ]

Blake: You know, they say imitation is the greatest form of flattery,

and when Niall came out and was dressed as me...

I was a little freaked out.

Are those my actual jeans,

the way you keep pulling 'em up? Yeah, I think so.

I think -- I think they are.

Daly: Rounding out Team Blake was Grace West.

* Maybe it was Memphis *

* Maybe it was southern summer nights *

* Maybe it was you, maybe it was me *

* But it sure felt right *

[ As Blake ] People of America are gonna to love you.

I do think Niall does a great impression of me.

I gotta say.

This is my last season.

[ Laughter ]

Niall's accent when he tries to be Blake -- horribly awesome.

[ Chuckles ]

I think I'm gonna go with Blake.

Yes! That's it!

You're the last person I'm ever pushing that for, Grace!

23 seasons, and for the last artist

for me to hit this button for to be a country artist

with that much potential,

I can't think of a better ending.

For the last time -- my team is full!

[ Cheers and applause ]

That was my last blind auditions.

It was bittersweet,

but I'm still looking forward to my last battle rounds,

which is coming up next.

Daly: Blake's last team was ready to compete...

Hi, Blake! ...and his 10 artists headed into battle.

Hey! [ Laughs ]

You guys are already laughing coming through the door.

Yeah, we're just so excited.

Working with Blake is probably the highlight of my life.

Walking into rehearsal and you see the tallest guy ever,

the king of "The Voice," Blake.

Group team hug. Come on.

Once you get in front of him, you're like, "Oh, my gosh."

Grace: It is still not fully real to me.

Yes! Come on, come on.

This season, the battles are really cool

'cause I got to actually work one-on-one with each artist

to try to take 'em to the next level.

The possibilities for you to be way beyond this show,

it's endless. Thank you.

This is a big deal to me.

This is the last battle rehearsal.

[ Gasps ] Wow!

Definitely being his last season,

it makes it even that much more special for sure.

The Playoff Pass.

So we've been waiting for years for something like this,

but it's the first time we've ever had it.

If the Playoff Pass gets used,

one gets to skip the knockouts and go straight to the playoffs,

the other one stays and everybody wins.

It is a really big deal to, like, get that Playoff Pass.

You go from battles to playoffs,

so I want that Playoff Pass ASAP.

Any time you see, like, singer/songwriter

and you kind of go, "I can throw anything in the world at 'em."

Blake: Everyone is so different,

but they're also all at the peak of their game.

This is awesome.

Daly: First up, Blake paired singer/songwriter Carlos Rising

against Grace West,

the last country artist to ever join Team Blake.

Blake. Yes!

[ Cheers and applause ]

* I told you so *

I could never do that, what you guys are doing.

The wheels are working. [ Chuckles ]

I'm working overtime. But your wheels work. Your wheels work.

* Would you say I told you so? *

Niall: Grace West -- she sings her heart out.

Arguably the biggest threat in this competition.

Grace, your voice is just phenomenal.

You've got a real classic tone. Thank you.

The winner of this battle is Grace.

Grace, congratulations!

You're moving on to the knockouts!

Daly: And Blake also took versatile country blues artist

Neil Salsich to the knockouts.

* Hey, I heard it through the grapevine *

* Oh, and I'm just about to lose my mind *

* Honey, I know *

Chance: Neil has, like, a quirkiness

about his stage presence, and I like that.

Like, I think it's dope.

You're moving on to the knockouts.

Congratulations.

Daly: The decisions got tougher

when Blake paired his two rockers,

Kason Lester and Walker Wilson.

You don't want to look uncomfortable.

You know, and I'm not sure if you're used to playing guitar.

Just stare into my eyes. I don't think it's anything you have to overthink.

Yeah, just get lost in Kason's eyes there.

It's an easy thing to do, man. [ Laughs ]

Have you looked at them things?

* I think about you, baby *

* And I dream about you all the time *

You guys are the exact same person, yo.

Dude. It's so weird.

That's what we've been hearing.

All jokes aside, awesome performance,

and Walker had the edge on that one for sure.

Thank you, dude.

The winner of this battle is Walker.

Walker is the perfect combination of rock,

Southern rock, country.

He owns that lane.

Congratulations, buddy.

This is Blake's last season, and his team is killer,

so I'm really happy for him for that.

Daly: And piano player EJ Michels

faced off against Pakistani R&B singer Tasha Jessen.

Tasha, your range is what really is incredible.

Thank you, Blake.

EJ, your voice is just so electrifying.

* And if you look closer, it's easy to trace *

* The tracks of my tears *

* Oh, baby, take one good look at my face *

* You'll see my smile looks out of place *

See? One rehearsal with -- with Blake.

[ Laughter ]

In spite of that, you still did amazing.

It's incredible. [ Laughter ]

The winner of this battle is Tasha.

Tasha, congratulations!

Blake: I ended up going with Tasha

because every time she sings, I learn more about her

and what she's capable of.

You did it, buddy. Thank you.

And she has the star power to blow the roof off this place.

Daly: Oh, we got a steal!

We got two steals!

I couldn't let EJ go home.

Simply because EJ could sing anything.

I definitely don't have a singer

with the range that you've got on my team.

You went with Blake, which was...a decision.

[ Laughter ]

A decision.

That was a choice.

I think that you could win this whole thing.

Gonna have to go with Niall.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Daly: EJ selects Niall Horan!

I still got more chances to steal him.

Daly: And finally, Kylee Dayne and Mary Kate Connor

became close friends during the competition.

Kylee: We met when we were here for the blinds.

We've been through this entire thing, hip to hip.

Daly: But in the battles, they had to go head-to-head.

Mary Kate: And we got working on our song, we were like,

"This is a match made in heaven."

* Always rooting for the anti-hero *

Did I just step in, like, a time warp

and step at the end of rehearsal,

like, where you would sound that good after we worked on it?

I'm the greatest coach ever.

[ Laughs ] Yes.

* It must be exhausting *

* Always rooting for the anti-hero *

Kelly: Kylee, your voice, it has, like, this thing

that singers get jealous of.

No matter what you sing, it's always gonna sound special.

Niall: Mary Kate, you were piercing through.

Like, it give me, like, little goose bumps, to be honest.

Blakey boy, you got one hell of a choice to make here.

Language, Niall.

[ Laughter ]

The winner of this battle is Kylee.

Kylee, you're moving on to the knockouts!

Congratulations!

Kylee has so much style and personality in her voice.

She's just amazing.

This business, Mary Kate,

there's gonna be a "no" every day

until there's finally a "yes" that comes along.

But on this show, we have a thing called a Playoff Pass,

and I have that right here on my button.

I think it -- Hey, it works.

[ Cheers and applause ] Daly: Oh!

It works!

And there's that yes.

[ Laughs ]

The Playoff Pass gives an artist a chance

to skip the knockout round.

It puts them straight into the playoffs.

I had to use my Playoff Pass on Mary Kate

because she's just an absolutely incredible singer

and just a pure, innocent-sounding voice.

I love it.

I think she's gonna blow people's minds

in these playoffs.

So far, I'm really excited about my team.

I think all the singers stand out in a unique way.

Give it up for NOIVAS, ladies and gentlemen.

I'm gonna take him.

Whoa!

We got a steal!

I'm so happy I stole NOIVAS.

This guy's got so much energy, and he just commands the stage.

I can't wait to see what my team is gonna do in these knockouts.

* This is "The Voice" *

Daly: Welcome back.

It's gonna be great, man. Let's do it.

* God only knows where this could go *

This season, former One Direction-er

and multi-platinum artist Niall Horan joined our coaches.

I pick Niall.

Yeah!

Niall: This is my first season on "The Voice."

I'm really enjoying it so far.

You're beaming. [ Laughter ]

Like a Cheshire cat.

That song choice, first of all, impeccable.

So brittle and, like, so tender.

Niall, he knows so much about a very specific lane in music.

Good stuff, my boy.

He's a formidable opponent, you know?

You went for the big choruses, but you were so amazing

in the early moments of the song.

Kelly: We've both been artists on a show,

so I can't even use my, like,

"I've been here," 'cause so has he.

I remember what I was like at 15

auditioning for a show like this.

I was shaking like a leaf.

Storytelling, it's my thing.

[ Laughter ]

These guys can't tell you a story at all.

I write my own stuff with some of the greatest songwriters

and producers of our time.

Lining them up, already have it.

We'll talk about it afterwards when you're on my team.

We're gonna be talking about you in the final for sure.

Being on a show like this and being a coach on here,

I can have a say in how those next steps in their career go.

Please.

So that's exactly why I wanted to be part of the show.

Can you try to be home by 7:30 for dinner?

Yes, Dad. Okay.

I'll get an Uber.

Great job today. I'm very proud of you.

Thank you, Dad. See you later.

See you -- See you tonight.

Myself and Blake have grown very close.

Do you want a hand up?

Yes, please. With a cane?

Oh! Thank you, Son.

We've bonded on a father-son level.

Here's the part where you take up for me, Son.

Son. All right, let me --

Let me tell you about my old man here.

Up next is a trip to Oklahoma.

[ Southern accent ] Goin' bass fishing. [ Chuckles ]

Here we go, Ni-y'all.

[ Laughter ]

It's Niall.

Blake Shelton, he is "The Voice."

Sweet dude. Love being around him.

Congratulations.

I have a great laugh with him on and off camera.

First of all, there is no proof that I blocked her.

There's proof.

Who did you use it on?

I used it on --

Ohhhh!

You know, I'm a little bit frustrated and proud

at the same time because Niall is fightin' dirty.

I'm proud of you, Son. Thanks, Pops.

He's lying, he's doing all the things that I do.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Whoo! [ Laughs ]

I'm so happy that I'm here, my first season.

I'm super excited about Team Niall.

Daly: Now let's see how Coach Niall

built his first-ever blinds team.

[ Laughter ]

After a slow start...

If I don't get a team member,

will you come and sing for me?

Daly: ...Niall pulled out all the stops

for his first artist, Ross Clayton.

Ross: We got three children, three goats,

and so it is a full house.

Hi, Dad! Hi, Ross.

You are such a great dad.

We miss you and we love you so much.

I'm gonna do my best.

I want them to say, like, look at my dad.

He's out there giving it a shot.

* Now I'm tellin' you *

* You don't need that guy *

* It's so black and white *

* He's stealin' your thunder *

* Baby, blue ain't your color *

Niall: I love how much control that Ross has of his voice.

Give him any song and he'll be able to sing it

and put his own little stamp on it.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Four chairs!

I got him in a four-chair turn

by using a little trick up my sleeve.

I need a bit of privacy.

You don't get privacy. This is for television.

[ Laughter ]

Is it?

[ Cheers and applause ]

Whoa!

Niall was doing some under-the-table stuff.

I've never been able to do --

But I did, in my heart, want him

to get somebody on his team by now.

Please.

Niall, let's go.

Oh, my God!

Niall: I could see it on Blake's face.

He was absolutely gutted that I stole a country guy from him.

Man, that was unbelievable.

Daly: Niall played his cards right

when he used his block on Kelly for 24-year-old Kala Banham.

* I've looked at life from both sides now *

* From win and lose, and still somehow * Oh, no!

* Life's illusions I recall *

* I really don't know liiiiiife * Ohhh!

Ha, ha!

Kelly's my biggest competition here.

We have very similar taste in singers and music,

so I knew that I had to block her for Kala.

I can't stand you, Ireland. [ Laughter ]

I'm gonna have to go with Niall.

Niall. Niall.

Niall. Niall.

Yes! Oh, my God!

Niall is killing it this season.

Hi! Hi.

Hi, Niall.

I'm such a huge fan of yours.

Niall came in here with a giant fan base.

What?! Oh, my God.

Niall?!

Hiii! Hi.

Would you like to be on my team?

Chance: Niall is a hard one to beat

because he's got that Irish accent.

It's time to pass the baton over.

Is a bah-ton a baton?

Language barrier. Okay, okay.

In Ireland, I guess it is.

I've got the tools to break hearts with you.

I like how you say "tools."

Thank you. Too-ools.

I've been on a show like this before.

I know.

Kelly: Niall's best quality as a coach, I think,

is because he's been in their position.

That was so good.

I've been in their shoes.

I know exactly what it's like.

You ever heard the phrase "Luck of the Irish"?

[ Laughter ]

Daly: And Niall used his Irish charm on this next artist.

* I love you *

* Together, together *

* That's how it must be *

* To live without you would *

You've got such a cool vibe to you.

Thank you, it's clown couture.

Yeah, clown couture. [ Laughter ]

Uh-huh, uh-huh.

There's an already-made star in there.

You've got this [Italian accent] Italian confidence.

Niall.

[ Normal voice ] Yeah!

[ Laughs ]

Get it, Niall!

Kate: I picked Niall because his pitch was amazing

and he's Irish -- Love that.

**

* This is "The Voice" *

Daly: Welcome back.

Niall continued to shape his blinds team

with Tennessee native Laura Littleton.

Music's always been around me since I was little.

My dad was in a bluegrass band.

They would meet at his tire shop.

The tire shop that he owned,

it's almost 100 years old.

It's the coolest thing in the world.

* We never learn, we've been here before *

* Why are we always stuck and running from *

* The bullets? *

Blake: I hit it before you! Yeah! Yes!

That is bull! That is bullcrap.

[ Vocalizing ]

Hello.

That was so fun!

I love these, like, natural shakes that you've got.

I would love to have you on Team Niall.

I think I'm going to go with Niall.

Yes! [ Cheers and applause ]

Wish I could've had you on my team.

[ Shrieks ]

Kelly: I will say, I stand by my block,

'cause I think that Laura might have gone with Blake.

I just used it for Niall, apparently.

Daly: R&B singer Tiana Goss

had a successful return to "The Voice."

* Oh, you don't mean... *

Tiana: Last season,

I didn't do as well as I wanted to do.

Not getting a chair turn, it honestly was a bummer.

[ Chuckles ] I'm not gonna lie.

Not everyone gets this amazing opportunity,

and the fact that I have it a second time,

that's unbelievable to me.

* Yeah * Whoa.

* And who is the one you're clingin' to *

* Instead of me * [ Both cheering ]

* Tonight? *

Niall: Tiana is incredible.

Her tones were beautiful and sweet.

I was hoping for you.

Yes!

My sister's a huge fan.

Is she here? She's here.

Niall: I was looking for some character,

and she had that in abundance.

Thank you. Whoo! Yes!

Daly: Niall also pushed his button

for 20-year-old dental student Jerome Godwin III.

* I wanna trust me *

* The way that you trust me, babe *

* 'Cause nobody ever loved me like you do *

* I'd love to see me from your point of view *

What?!

Daly: And he and Kelly battled it out again

for pop singer Gina Miles.

I'm not super crazy confident, but when I sing,

I'm a very different person.

* In another life *

* I would make you stay *

* So I don't have to say *

* You were the one that got away *

* The one that got away *

I'm just a really big fan of your voice.

Obviously, I've been doing pop music for 20 years,

so I'm all right at it. [ Laughs ]

And I feel like we would work really well together.

I also have a really cute jacket.

It's really cute.

Are you giving him help?

I gave him my phone number. You are not.

"Kelly can't coach nerves." [ Laughs ]

I think I'm going to go with Niall.

Yes! I lost to Niall.

Come on!

I did it again.

Kelly: Man, Gina, I loved her tone,

and I thought that it was a really cool

storyteller-type voice.

Niall and I went head to head, I think, the most in the blinds.

Don't come near me!

We definitely gravitate towards similar singers,

and he has a really strong team.

Daly: Musical-theater lover Michael B. impressed Niall

with his vocal range.

* Save your tears *

Yay!

Whoo!

Daly: And next up, the youngest solo artist

in the competition, 15-year-old Ryley Tate Wilson.

Ryley: I play guitar, piano, ukulele, drums.

And, some way, I want to make music my career.

* And there's a big black sky over my town *

[ Cheers and applause ]

* I know where you're at, I bet she's around *

[ Cheers and applause continues ]

Ryley Tate. Where do we start?

15 years old. Four-chair turn.

Voice of an absolute angel.

That was the best audition we've seen here by a long shot.

I'm gonna have to go with Niall.

Yes! Come on!

Daly: And finally, 29-year-old Army recruiter Talia Smith

fought hard to be here.

Thanks for being here. Yeah, absolutely.

Where else am I going to be?

This past year, we found out that we were pregnant.

Talia: It was everything we wanted.

But I had a miscarriage.

I kind of just felt weak.

And as a soldier,

that's not something I'm used to feeling.

Being here is part of the healing.

* Don't you worry 'bout a thing *

* Don't you worry 'bout a thing *

**

* Don't you worry 'bout a thing *

Niall: She's got so much control.

For her to come up here and choose

a really tough Stevie Wonder song,

it was amazing.

Oh-ho-ho!

Whoo!

What a way to complete a team.

Blake: Niall's a rookie,

but he stepped in ready to compete.

And the guy has a solid team.

I feel like he's probably our biggest threat.

Niall: Can't wait to sit down with all of my artists,

pick songs, and start battling it out.

* This is "The Voice" *

Daly: Welcome back.

After building his first "Voice" team,

Niall took his 10 artists into the battle ring.

I can't believe that we're actually

working with Niall now.

Jerome: Ladies first. I'm cool.

Niall: Hello!

Hi, Michael. How's it going?

The great thing about "The Voice" is I've become

really close with all of my artists.

How are the dogs?

Oh, they're so good. I got to meet the dogs on Zoom.

Niall is definitely an invested coach.

He's personal with us on Zoom.

It's extremely cool to say

that we have a celebrity in our DMs.

Michael: Look at those piercing eyes.

Have you ever seen a face that big?

[ Ryley and Michael laugh ]

Michael: Niall is an incredible musician.

And getting to, like, work with him

and collaborate with him on a duet

was really, really special.

Daly: Up first, soft-spoken Gina Miles

and pop singer Kala Banham

put Niall in a difficult position.

The more emotion you give it, the better it's going to be.

Keep your composure and sing it to each other

and just leave it at that, and you'll be fine.

Kala: Niall had so much amazing advice for us,

and he's performed in sold-out stadiums all around the world,

so it was really nice.

* I told you to... *

Niall: Band rehearsals in the rehearsal studio

is one thing.

This is a different beast.

* In the morning, I'll be with you *

This is the first time we see them on the battle stage.

This is the closest they're going to get

to having a full audience

and the whole of America watching.

* Come on, skinny love *

[ Both vocalizing ]

**

Gina, your tone is just phenomenal.

The fact that you can speak and it's, like,

quiet as a mouse, and then you come out

and you have that big, bold, round sound to your voice.

The winner of this battle is Gina.

Gina, you are moving on to the knockouts!

Niall: I chose Gina because of her growth.

The sky's the limit for that girl.

That is a steal! Yeah! [ Laughs ]

Kelly: I've been waiting for her.

I remembered her from the blinds and I was blocked.

I like anybody that can bring tears to my eyes,

and she did.

Niall really messed up, y'all.

So excited to get to work with her.

Daly: Next, Jerome Godwin III

went head to head with Talia Smith.

* Why are you looking down all the wrong roads *

* When mine is the heart and the salt of the soul? *

Niall: What's great about this show

is there's so much room for growth,

and I'm really starting to see some of my artists

really step up and take hold of their own future.

Chance: Jerome, I thought you smashed it.

You could sing anything. The winner of this battle is Jerome.

Jerome, congratulations!

You're moving on to the knockouts!

Chance: Niall's team is looking pretty strong right now.

Team Chance is obviously the way to go

if you want to win the show,

but, like, in terms of putting together artists

for me to lay the steal, he's doing a really good job.

Daly: Niall had a vision when he paired

quirky guitarist Kate Cosentino

with returning artist Tiana Goss.

There's a version of this song

that starts quite chill... Mm-hmm.

...and allows you to show off before you dance.

Okay. Try and do the harmony thing

and make sure that they're real tight,

because it will make those harmony moments stand out

in what is a chaotic song.

* Oh, girls just wanna have fun *

* When the working day is done *

* Oh, girls, they wanna have fun *

* Oh, girls just wanna have fun *

That was a really cool arrangement of that song.

[ Chuckles ] Thank you.

I felt the lyrics for the first time.

Do you feel like we wanna have fun?

Now I understand you, Kelly. Now you know.

You just wanna have fun.

"Oh. You just wanna have a good time." I get it.

The winner of the battle is Kate.

Daly: Kate, congratulations!

Niall: I chose Kate because you don't see

a lot of those jazzy voices around these days.

Someone that's got a bit of quirkiness,

you know, a bit of character.

Daly: Wait! We got a steal!

I'm shaking, I'm shaking.

Chance: I made my steal. Finally, I got Tiana.

I saw potential, and she has soul to her voice

and she has a stage presence.

And I'm excited to see what she's going to do

on Team Chance.

Daly: Ross Clayton and Laura Littleton

brought some country to Team Niall.

Ross, is there a way of, like,

taking back some of the grit early on?

* I know you really want to tell me goodbye *

* I know you really want to be your own girl*

* Baby, you could never look me in the eye *

I've shot myself in the foot yet again.

It's not easy. Ross is the winner.

Ross moving on to the knockouts! Thank you.

Kelly: I love Ross. I really wanted him.

His whole rock 'n' roll edge with his country vibe, his tone,

like, singer/songwriter -- he covers a lot of lanes.

Daly: Finally, musical-theater lovers

15-year-old Ryley Tate Wilson and 29-year-old Michael B.

serenaded our coaches in one of Niall's

strongest match-ups.

Ryley Tate, you could do with ramping the song.

You know, sing soft, tell the story,

and then you start ramping towards the chorus.

* Whoa-oh-oh *

* 'Cause I get like this every time *

Oh, my God! * On these days that feel *

You sung beautifully together.

The riffs, the control.

The winner of this battle is Michael.

Michael B., congratulations!

You're moving on to the knockouts!

Niall: I had to move Michael B. through to the knockouts.

I've heard him singing that song 50 times in the last few days.

He just brought it to another level.

[ Speaking indistinctly ]

I'm using the Playoff Pass!

Daly: This is the Playoff Pass! Don't go home!

[ Laughs ]

[ Cheers and applause ]

Niall: The Playoff Pass is here

for one reason and one reason only --

to award the best performance on your team

and send them straight through to the playoffs.

Ryley Tate has got maturity beyond his years.

This guy is a gifted kid.

I honestly think that Ryley Tate Wilson will be in the finale.

I am completely in shock.

I was not expecting that at all.

Ohh! Oh, my God!

[ Laughs ]

Niall: Team Niall is looking strong

from all the battles.

My team has turned heads.

We've got big singers, completely technical singers.

We've got our storytellers.

I only get one steal, and I chose to use it

for EJ on Team Blake.

He's got amazing low range,

and he can work his way right up to the top of it.

Looking forward to seeing what Team Niall

brings to the stage in the knockouts.

* This is "The Voice" *

Daly: Welcome back.

Grammy-winning singer/songwriter and producer Chance the Rapper

arrived ready to win his way.

Hey, the youngins are killin' it right now! Whoo!

I'm so excited to be a part of "The Voice."

Aaaaaaaah!

It's cool that the show has finally had a rapper on it.

Rap music is, like, an all-encompassing kind of genre.

Oh, my God! It's Chance the Rapper!

What?! Chance the Rapper?!

Together: Ohhh!

Yeah! EJ: He has the career

that I would like to have myself as an artist.

**

Chance has got, like, a super unique ear for talent.

I'm excited to work with you.

Blake: I feel like Chance is, like -- he's on a different wavelength.

I'm a visionary, man.

I feel like I'm going to win the show.

Blake: Chance has come into this thing fearless.

When he gets excited about somebody, he goes all in.

If I was lucky enough to have you on my team,

I would just spend time with you, figuring out,

you know, what you're about, and I'll let you be yourself.

Niall: His song choices, the things he thinks about musically,

his music knowledge -- he was made for this.

I would love to bring you some options that,

like, maybe the other coaches may not be as familiar with.

Wow. And -- And -- That's not a shot.

No, it's just impressive. I'm saying it's impressive.

Oh, yeah. Yeah.

Thanks, man. Yeah.

Chance is, like, my favorite person

to sit next to on the show.

Chance: You only have one choice.

You got Chance right here.

[ Laughs ]

You still got Chance over here.

Oh, my God! Oh!

You got Chance right here.

[ Cheers and applause ] Oh!

And even though my boy is blocked,

you got Chance right here!

[ Laughs ] Oh, my God!

I've been lucky as an independent rapper

to learn a lot of things over the course of my career.

I started touring when I was 17.

Do you know Tems?

Of course, yeah.

I know Tems.

You talking about Tims McGraw?

[ Laughter ]

I'm hoping that I could just impart some of that wisdom

on this next generation of artists.

I gotta go with Chance.

Chance. Chance.

Aaaaaaah! [ Cheers and applause ]

I'm not focused on anything other than winning.

Daly: First up on Team Chance, it's viral sister trio Sorellé.

Madi: We're social media influencers now.

We have 3.2 million followers.

As a trio, we only started in 2019,

so this will be one of our first... Bella: Ever.

...performances.

* Love you *

* I * * Love you *

* Hey, boy *

* Where'd you get it from? *

* Hey, boy, where did you go? *

* I learned my passion in the good old-fashioned *

* School of lover boys *

* Everything's all right, just hold on tight *

* That's because I'm a good old-fashioned *

What are you doing turning around, Chance?

This is embarrassing, man.

I really want to try something.

I just wanted to see

if you guys could do a three-part harmony

of this simple line.

* What could I do-o-o? *

* What could I do-o-o? *

Tell me what? What?!

* What could I do-o-o? *

I'm telling y'all, I got y'all.

I got a vision. Chance.

Aaaaaaah! Ohhhhhhh!

The Sorellé sisters -- they have, like,

a certain tenured stage presence that I like.

Come on! Keep clapping! Are you kidding me right now?!

I think the best thing about getting Sorellé

was beating Blake.

And as good as I feel

about being able to vibe together,

I felt even better about Blake not winning.

Whoo! That feels good!

Daly: Blake and Chance's rivalry continued with this next artist,

Jamar Langley.

* I need you *

* I need youuuuu *

Yes! Yes!

If you want to win the whole competition,

obviously, you got to come get down with Chance team.

Chance.

Ohhhhhh!

Jamar was awesome.

That was also my second time beating Blake.

It's all in the pitch, you know what I mean?

It's how you talk, but it's also, like, your character.

How do they know if you're a good guy or not,

Blake Shelton?

Don't come to me in the battles

when you need me.

Daly: Chance picked up a wide range of talented singers,

snagging rocker Alyssa Lazar.

* Baby, I'm afraid of the way I love you *

Welcome to "The Voice"!

* Don't be that way *

Daly: And at 17 years old,

Mariah Kalia proved to be fearless.

* I just wish you could feel what you say *

Wow!

If you want somebody that's gonna take you to that level,

get down with Chance Records.

I'm telling you. [ Laughing ] Ah, Chance Records.

I'm going to go with Chance.

Aaaaaaah!

* You make me say *

* Oh *

**

Niall: 17 years old. She was years ahead of herself.

She's going to be around here for a long time.

I'm so sorry. The connection, man.

You're just a better coach than me.

Daly: Professional athlete Chloe Abbott

came to "The Voice" to switch tracks.

Chloe: I run the 400, which is one lap around, full speed.

And I am currently training

to go for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

* The moment that you wander far from me *

* I want to be feel you in my arms again *

Oh! Yo! Yes!

She got it.

Chance: I was really, really impressed

with Chloe's control,

and I look forward to seeing

what she's going to do in this competition.

Daly: Chance added soul to his blinds team

with this next artist, Magnus.

* Baby hair *

* With a woman's eyes *

Yes! Oh! He already turned around!

Let's go!

* I can feel you watching in the night *

Magnus -- I just knew as soon as I heard him sing

that he was perfect for Team Chance.

I am so excited to win this show with you, Magnus!

[ Laughs ]

Whoo!

Daly: And 30-year-old NOIVAS

gave a meaningful performance for his family.

NOIVAS: Today, I am singing

"A Change Is Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke.

This song is very important for me, personally.

My father, he grew up in Jim Crow Mississippi,

in a time of widespread racism.

* I was born by the river *

[ Cheers and applause ]

* In a little tent *

* And just like the river, I've been running *

* Ever since *

Chance: I actually blocked Blake from getting him.

I knew he was going to want

because he has like a little, like, country tinge to him.

But I was like, "This is my guy."

You are an incomparable talent, yo.

I'm going with Chance.

Ohhhhhhh!

If I'm that threatening, then I'm honored by the block.

Daly: Chance also hit his button for soul singer Ray Uriel.

* That's where I find a glimpse of us *

[ Cheers and applause ]

Yes! Yes! Thank you!

Welcome to Team Chance!

Daly: Then, 22-year-old Manasseh Samone

returned to "The Voice"

after failing to turn a chair last season.

[ Cheering ]

Manasseh: * I'll rise up * Let's go! Let's go!

* I'll rise like the day *

* I'll rise up *

* I'll rise unafraid *

Kelly: Not only her tone,

just the entertainment value watching her.

Her voice is incredible.

She's kind of like the whole package for me.

Ooh!

Whoo! Let's go!

God!

I can't believe I just got you like that!

Yes! Finally!

Daly: Chance finished strong,

filling his team with powerhouse NariYella.

* You want all my love and my devotion *

Man!

Alright.

* You want my love and soul *

* Right on the line *

Oh-ho-ho!

I was first! I was first!

* I have no doubt that I could love you *

* You've got one night only, one night only *

* That's all you have to spare *

NariYella -- She just blew me away.

I think, technically, your skill level is

way, way, way beyond your years.

Thank you.

NariYella was, hands down,

just one of the best vocalists we've heard.

I was bummed to lose her.

You're my last person.

I am? You just completed my whole team.

No doubt. Yeah!

Chance: She has a certain fullness

and a confidence that, coupled together,

like, could make for a star.

America!

My team is full!

Blind auditions are done. On to the battle rounds.

My team is fire.

I got some really powerful vocalists

and a lot of different styles, too.

I think this competition is going to be a breeze.

Yeah.

**

* This is "The Voice" *

Daly: Welcome back.

With Chance's first team locked,

his eclectic singers had to face off in the battles.

Woman: What's up? What up?

Hey!

Chance: At this point in the competition,

we've got the most talented people in the world

going head to head.

Hey. Welcome, welcome. Hi!

Team Chance is very much all about being yourself.

Be proud to be making music and to be performing

and to be, like, who you are.

I'm most excited to continue to hear these awesome vocalists.

Do you guys need some help with the mic stand? [ Contestants chattering ]

Are they, like, super tight? I was trying.

I swear to you guys -- It's okay.

Madi: Chance is a jack of all trades.

He's a musician, a producer, a writer.

I actually used to be a roadie for a long time.

And a roadie. So it was super helpful.

Daly: Chance got right to work

when he paired two of his one-chair turns,

Alyssa Lazar and Magnus, for an epic battle.

* You can tell everybody *

I can't stress enough how important rehearsal is...

[ Alyssa vocalizing ]

...because it's as much about your stage presence

as it is about your vocal.

What helps me out a lot when I'm on stage is,

even though I've sang the song so many times,

sometimes that can, you know, work against you.

Kind of taking time to think about who you're singing to

and what the lyrics mean to you.

Chance is awesome, man. He wears so many different hats.

To have that person, you know, in my corner,

this is crazy. [ Laughs ]

* It may be quite simple, but now that it's done *

Magnus, your voice sounds like a warm, cozy home.

[ Laughter ]

Kelly: It does. Thank you, Blake.

With soup and those pillows

that are like life-size body pillows you can lay with.

[ Laughter ]

The winner of this battle is Magnus.

Magnus moving on!

Kelly: There were a lot of one-chair turns in the blinds with Chance.

And now we're getting to the battles,

and we're hearing his artists, and we're like,

"Oh, you heard something."

Daly: Chance also paired seasoned soul singer Jamar Langley

with 17-year-old R&B pop artist Mariah Kalia.

Make the song ache the way that it's supposed to.

Yeah. Use the experience of life to bring the song to life.

* Keep me where the light is *

* Keep me where the light is *

The winner of the battles is Jamar.

Thank you. Jamar, congratulations!

I see Jamar as a soul artist.

I want to see him try a little bit more

late '70s, almost soul-funk,

because I think he could do anything.

Daly: Then, hard-working data analyst Ray Uriel

took on four-chair-turn NOIVAS.

* And I'm sorry I made you cry *

Together: * Oh-oh-oh-oh *

* I didn't mean to hurt you, no, baby *

* I'm just a jealous guy *

Whoo!

NOIVAS --

I feel like I'm looking at one of my old album covers

standing up there right now.

It's working for me.

What I noticed about Ray was that there was no,

like, strain or anything,

and there were moments where

NOIVAS came all the way down stage and was really performing.

And then when it was your turn, you was like, "Nah,"

like, "I could do that, too."

I really enjoyed that improvement.

The winner of this battle is Ray.

Congratulations.

They both did an incredible job,

but I had to go with Ray.

He has a very contained sound,

and he has a lot of control over his vocals.

I'm gonna take him.

We got a steal!

Blake: I was able, for once, to get somebody on my team

that I thought needed to be on my team

from the very beginning.

If Chance hadn't used that stupid block earlier,

this would have never happened.

You're home, NOIVAS. Come on.

Oh, man.

Chance: NOIVAS deserves to be in this competition

just as much as anybody.

And I did not want to see him go home,

so I thought that was really cool,

what Blake did.

Daly: And track star Chloe Abbott and R&B vocalist NariYella

gave another incredible performance.

* I want you around, around *

That was so crazy.

Y'all should be in a group together.

Oh, my God.

[ Laughs ]

The winner of this battle is NariYella.

[ Cheers and applause ] NariYella, congratulations!

You're moving on. Not easy.

Niall: NariYella, no matter what song she sings,

it sounds like her own.

Her singing ability,

it's probably the best in the competition.

Daly: Then it was viral sister trio Sorellé

versus second-chance artist Manasseh Samone.

Maybe we could switch up the arrangement

just a little bit. Mm-hmm.

Could we try a three-part harmony

with you guys a cappella?

And then, when we come back in, we'll up the dynamics

and have bass come in with Manasseh.

* I wish nothing but the best for you, yeah *

* Don't forget me, I begged *

* Oh, I remember you said *

* Sometimes it lasts in love *

* But sometimes it hurts instead *

Blake: Chance is doing things I've never seen

anyone else do in 23 seasons.

He came in. He's super confident.

He knows what he wants in these artists,

and he's turning out to be a great coach.

[ Cheers and applause ] Chance!

Was that your arrangement?

Oh, my God.

The winner of this battle is...

Sorellé.

Sorellé, congratulations.

You are moving on to the knockouts.

Chance, I just want to say

that you have been truly a blessing to me.

I'm just so grateful for just being in this --

[ Cheers and applause ]

Oh!

Oh, my God! Oh, my God! Oh, my God!

Daly: There it is!

Blake: It's great to see a story like what happened with Manasseh.

I mean, she didn't even make it onto the show last season.

This season, she's on here,

and she got the first-ever Playoff Pass.

Oh, my God!

Manasseh edged out that Playoff Pass

because of how much she grew

from the first rehearsal to the stage rehearsal

to finally being on stage for the battle rounds.

She just controlled the whole crowd,

and I just was blown away by it.

It was awesome.

Team Chance is stacked.

I got some really powerful vocalists -- soul, R&B, a group.

I got Manasseh going on to the playoffs.

I stole Tiana from Niall.

He missed out on a great artist.

My team is the strongest team on the show.

**

* This is "The Voice" *

Daly: Welcome back.

This is the "Best of the Blinds, Battles,

and Blake."

It's his last season.

Also this season, Coach Kelly Clarkson returned,

and during the blind auditions,

Kelly was more passionate and more competitive than ever.

[ Cheers and applause ]

**

I'm home.

I know you're excited.

I should change the locks. Whoo!

The queen is back.

* I wanna go *

Woman: Kelly. Kelly.

Together: Kelly. Yes!

People are excited to be part of Team Kelly,

which makes me so excited 'cause I've missed it.

Oh, my God!

Yeah!

I've been crushing it.

* I wanna go with you *

Kelly is probably the hardest person to beat

because as a vocal coach, as a mega star,

it's tough just to make a case against Kelly.

I told Kelly she needed to turn around.

Mama turns when she wants to turn.

[ Cheers and applause ]

She's back with a vengeance.

And by that, I mean she still won't stop talking.

I love the runs. I was enjoying the runs.

I'm sorry, I cut you off. I'm so sorry.

Do you wanna hug it out? And you didn't --

Do you wanna hug it out? Let's hug it out. Let's get a hug.

Let's hug it out. [ Laughs ]

Niall turned around without anybody telling him to.

He just like -- he just did it. No, he didn't tellme.

He was just like, "Hey, I like this guy." No, no, no, no no, no, no.

I can attest to this.

It's not whatyou say. It's how muchyou say.

[ Laughter ]

You can make fun of how I'm winning,

but I'm still winning.

Chance: Kelly and Blake just have this crazy rivalry.

I don't think they care what's going on sometimes.

Am I truly your favorite coach?

Absolutely. Yep.

[ Buzzer blaring ]

I'm telling you, this thing doesn't work.

It doesn't work, Kelly.

It's exciting to have Kelly back.

She came in ready to start some crap with me.

Blockhead Blake

stole the opportunity away from us, okay?

There is no proof that I blocked her.

[ Laughter ]

Historically, Blake and Kelly have had a bit of a battle.

By not hitting her button,

she chose to not be a part of your life.

I'm totally gonna miss him. Mm-hmm.

It's very funny, though. He loves winding Kelly up.

That's probably my favorite thing.

He has Kelly right in his back pocket.

Blake: If I don't win,

the next best thing is Kelly not getting what she wants.

What is wrong with you?!

[ Laughter ]

It's the Cowboy's last season, but I'm not going easy on you.

I missed the chair. I missed the button.

I missed having a team to work with.

I'm super pumped about season 23.

Daly: First to join Team Kelly

was Mississippi girl Holly Brand.

* But I'm still a Mississippi girl *

[ Cheers and applause ]

* A Mississippi girl *

[ Vocalizing ] Whoo!

We're gonna do big things together if you come with me.

[ Laughs ]

Please! [ Laughs ] [ Laughs ]

The whistle note took me out.

And I think, if you get down with me,

you're obviously going to win.

I definitely know a hell of a lot more than these two.

[ Laughter ]

I know that -- Why are you talking?

You didn't even turn.

Kelly. Whoo!

Oh, my God! I love you!

[ Laughs ]

Kelly: Holly is incredible.

I will never not be shocked

that Blake didn't turn for Holly.

I'm stoked to work with her.

Daly: ALI is a 24-year-old soul singer

who was born deaf.

ALI: It was hard when I was a kid,

definitely, for sure, you know, to, like, accept this.

Daly: But from an early age, she had a natural gift.

ALI: Even though I can't really hear

every single thing that's going on,

I can feel the music, what it means,

and every little thing coming out of the speaker.

* And there he was, this young boy *

* A stranger to my eyes * That was cool.

* Strumming my pain with his fingers *

Hi, I'm ALI, and a fun fact about me

is I wear two hearing aids.

I was born deaf.

I'm so blessed to be able to share

this amazing journey with you. Oh, my God. That's crazy.

Blake: Wow. [ Laughs ]

Thank you.

Your runs were so intricate and cool and different.

That's a gift. Kelly.

Even if you didn't know her story, she's incredible.

She feels and hears music differently than us,

and it bleeds through her.

Thank you, guys.

Great job. Welcome.

Daly: Pop artist JB Somers

serenaded his way onto Team Kelly.

* I would drink a case of you, darling *

* And I would still be on my feet *

* Oh, I would still be on my *

Your tone is incredible.

I'm gonna go with Kelly.

[ Cheers and applause ]

JB's voice, y'all, especially the fact that he picked Joni.

I love Joni Mitchell. He's perfect for my team.

Daly: Kelly added another strong female vocalist to her team

when she picked up Allie Keck.

* Oh, if I was a man, I'd make my move *

**

* If I was a blade, I'd shave you smooth *

[ Cheers and applause ]

Yeah!

Allie, you can project more than anybody else

that's come out on this stage.

Blake, I love you, but I think

I'm gonna have to go with Kelly. Oh, my gosh!

Kelly: I love her vibe.

She's like Janis Joplin meets, like,

Ann Wilson from Heart, and she's incredible.

Daly: Southern R&B singer D.Smooth put music on the back burner.

D.Smooth: I have a lot of jobs.

I am a barber, a personal trainer.

I was a delivery person.

But I felt like God was telling me,

"It was time to focus on what gifts I gave you."

* Baby, I'm dancing in the dark *

* With you between my arms *

* Whoa, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah *

[ Cheers and applause ] Hey, let's go.

He turned with, like, five seconds on the clock.

Mama turned, like, in the beginning.

Because I knew how hard of a song it was to sing,

that's why I was waiting. Ms. Kelly.

Yes! Yes! Whoo!

Niall: Kelly's excited to be back here,

and you can tell.

She's been going ham on that button.

[ Shouting indistinctly ] Oh! I'm so -- Oh!

She's dangerous, Kelly Clarkson.

That was really cool. That was really cool.

That was really cool. That was really cool.

[ Laughs ]

Daly: 22-year-old Rachel Christine also joined Team Kelly.

* Like any hot-blooded woman *

* I have simply wanted *

Chase went in. All right! Let's go!

* An object to crave *

* But this is not allowed *

* You're uninvited * Come on, Niall!

* An unfortunate slight *

[ Cheers and applause ]

Oh, there she is.

[ Laughs ] It took me a minute.

Then I heard this part come alive,

and you became, like, really rock 'n' roll and rad,

and you started singing with your chest and your gut.

You've got a powerful, awesome voice.

I have to go with Kelly.

Yeah! Are you serious?

I spotted her from the jump.

And, you know, we'll see how the competition goes.

You never know where she'll end up.

Daly: Marcos Covos' life changed when he came out to his family.

I had always [Clears throat] thought,

if my family finds out, it was going to be bad.

When it happened, I lost all of the support

of my family.

I was angry. I was sad.

Eventually, my mom put her foot down and said,

"I want to see my son."

And we slowly started the process of repairing

all of our relationships.

I am thankful for our family.

My family and I are closer than ever now.

This is the first time in my life

where I feel like I know exactly who I am.

I am proud of who I am.

* Solo tú *

Gotta do it!

[ Cheers and applause ]

* Has llenado de luto mi vida *

* Abriendo una herida en mi corazón * Wow.

Let's go, Marcos!

What?! Kelly: No!

No!

Let's go!

No! No!

It was the last second! What? What?

Hello. Hello.

I turned around so fast for you.

I'm going to have to go with Kelly.

Yes!

[ Cheers and applause ]

**

Chance: That's a good dance.

* This is "The Voice" *

Daly: Welcome back to "The Voice"

at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Let's see how Kelly continued to build her blinds team.

32-year-old voiceover artist Cait Martin

hid behind the characters she played.

Today, I'm going to be recording a little bit of voiceover work.

He never told me the name of the crook who trained him.

Daly: But now, she's finally ready

to take center stage as herself.

* You know it's not the same as it was *

* As it was *

* As it was *

Whoo! Whoo!

[ Cheers and applause ]

It's a four-chair! Aah!

What is your name? Where are you from?

Welcome to Team Kelly.

[ Laughter ]

[ Chanting ] Kelly! Kelly!

What are they saying?

That's my mom saying, "Kelly!"

Yes!

[ Laughing ]

You know what they say.

You should always listen to your parents.

Kelly knows what she wants.

She's super genuine, and that's why people love her.

And it sucks for me.

Yeah. [ Laughs ]

Daly: In a "Voice" first,

a solo artist from Kelly's Season 16 team returned...

I love you!

...this time as part of a trio.

* Tell me that you're coming through *

You're -- What is happening right now?

What's going on here?

He's Team Kelly on another season.

He is incredible.

This is the first time ever that an artist has come back

on the show with a group.

That is insane.

I've been in a group.

You're incredible. I already love Jej's voice.

We're going to have to go with...

Kelly. Kelly. Kelly.

Aaaah!

Oh, my God!

She's got a lot of people, when they come out,

in the palm of her hand

before she's even said a word.

So she's tough to beat.

Daly: Kelly and Niall went head to head one more time

when they both turned for this last artist,

Katie Beth Forakis.

* And if you can't be next to me *

* Then your memory is ecstasy *

There you go. Kelly.

* I miss youuuuuuuu *

Pretty. Wow.

[ Cheers and applause ]

I'm really excited you're on the show.

We literally have not heard anyone like you.

I'm going to go with Kelly.

Yes!

Thank you!

Oh, my God!

Kelly: Katie Beth was the perfect person

to finally fill up my team.

My team...

is full!

[ Cheers and applause ]

My team is looking so strong.

It was really fun to get to, like, pick these artists

and cultivate this perfect, cool team.

And now -- now I'm ready. Let's go to battles.

[ Audience chanting "Kelly!" ] Talk about it. Talk about it. Talk about it.

[ Laughs ]

Daly: With Kelly's team complete,

her artists moved on to the battles.

Now we're going in. Unh, unh, unh.

Your tone is so good.

Same with when you were singing your blind.

Thank you. Yeah, I was in love.

I was like, "Oh, my God." Aww!

I am back this season, and I -- I missed it so much.

It -- I didn't even realize until I came back

and I was like, "Oh, man, I love doing this."

'Sup, y'all?

Good to see you. Good to see you.

Y'all look so cute.

You look so cute. Nice to see you. Hi!

The talent has been incredible this season and very different.

And it's like, just which way do you want to go

with your team?

It sounds incredible.

If, after the show, you wanted to make a group,

it would be an incredible group,

and I would go see your show.

It's just like, "Oh, my God." [ Chuckles ]

We're not worthy.

* Told I'm not ladylike *

Ooh, I love where you're leaving that.

Of course I was nervous,

but she made me feel very comfortable,

and so I'm super thankful that she's my coach.

Daly: Kelly kicked off her battles

with voiceover artist Cait Martin

and Nashville rocker Allie Keck.

* It must have been love *

* But it's over now *

You're sustaining and climbing.

How you're coming in,

the same kind of fierce force and power,

it's incredible.

* Must have been loooove *

* But it's over now *

Yeah!

[ Cheers and applause ]

The winner of this battle is Cait.

Daly: Cait, congratulations!

Cait has this, like, chameleon factor to her,

in that she can find a piece of music and make it her song.

Daly: Kelly had another tough decision

after pairing powerful trio Sheer Element

with mariachi singer Marcos Covos.

* Fall in love *

* Fall in love *

* I could fall in love *

* Fall in love *

* Oh, whoa, whoa *

* Oh, ooh * * Oh, baby *

Marcos, I do miss you singing in Spanish a little bit.

That is what separates you in this competition.

Yeah.

The winner of this battle is Marcos.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Marcos -- My favorite thing about his voice is his passion.

You just can't teach that. That's innate.

And I'm really looking forward to stretching him

to see what he's going to do vocally on the show.

Daly: Kelly paired two strong female vocalists,

country singer Holly Brand and pop singer Katie Beth Forakis.

If there's anywhere in the song where you feel like,

"Oh, my God, I'm gonna have to fit all these words in"...

Yeah. ...you can take a breath.

* I'm a lady like that, yeah *

* I'm a lady like that, oooooh *

[ Cheers and applause ]

I'm gonna hug you!

Hey, girls.

First of all, terrible high-five there at the end.

I mean, that was awkward as hell.

[ Laughter ]

The winner of this battle is Holly.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Niall: One of my first big losses was Holly.

Team Kelly has got Holly Brand, and we should all be nervous.

Daly: JB Somers and Rachel Christine

got two chairs to turn in the blinds.

And in the battles, they performed an impressive duet.

* Crying in the bathroom, had to figure it out *

* With everyone around me saying *

* "You must be so happy now" *

The winner of this battle is Rachel.

Daly: Rachel, you're moving on to the knockouts.

Congratulations!

Rachel showed up just completely different

and just killed me.

Great job. Great job.

Daly: Things got soulful

when ALI faced Southern gentleman D.Smooth

in Kelly's final battle.

* You say that you caaaaaaaare *

Oh, my God. I just forget how much I love this. [ Laughs ]

Oh, we love you.

That was really good. Oh, man.

Can I give you a hug? I want to give you a hug.

Don't. I'll break. Give me a minute.

[ Laughter ]

It's like a big, warm hug just being near her.

I honestly thought I was going to, like, fangirl moment.

Like, "Aaaaah!" Squeal like a 15-year-old girl.

* You say that you caaaaaaare *

* You say that you care for me, baby * Yeah!

* I was unaware *

* I was so unaware *

* And you ain't tell me nothing, no, no, no *

[ Cheers and applause ]

Whoo!

That's what I'm going to miss the most,

is just sitting here with a front-row seat

to some of the best concerts that anybody's ever seen.

Great job. Thank you, Blake. Thank you.

D.Smooth, I haven't heard a dude sing like that

since, like, the '90s.

ALI, how you hear pitch, how you flow,

it's a God-given talent.

Thank you.

The winner of this battle is ALI.

Daly: ALI. Kelly: ALI feels the music, not just sings it.

And that is an incredibly moving thing to witness.

[ Button echoes ]

Daly: That's the sound of a steal!

Yeah, Chance-y boy!

Oh, man. Team Chance, man.

Chance went in. He used his steal.

We're like, "Oh, wow.

He's gonna get a chance to work with Chance."

I'm using my Playoff Pass!

Whoa-ho-ho-ho! [ Cheers and applause ]

Kelly came in and smashed the entire dream

right before everybody's eyes.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Whoa!

Yeah!

Chance tried to steal D.Smooth. That ain't happening.

He is not leaving Team Kelly. [ Laughs ]

D.Smooth, he has a sneaky, casual way

of just being incredible.

My team going into the knockouts, man,

we have some country, we have some singer/songwriter,

we have some, like, R&B.

That is a steal!

Kelly: I stole Kala from Niall.

She is such an emotional singer.

I like an eclectic team.

That's my favorite thing to kind of form on this show.

Team Kelly is incredible, y'all.

Daly: Welcome back to the "Best of the Blinds, Battles,

and Blake." Man: Give it up!

[ Country music plays ]

Marker.

Daly: Blake Shelton is our only coach

in "Voice" history who has been a part of all 23 seasons.

Blake: I've been here for-ever.

Whew! Come on in, guys.

You actually live here?

Oh, yeah.

He's been here since the beginning of time.

My entire life, I wake up here and I go to sleep here.

It's my little home inside my home.

You gotta be kidding me.

Hey, Blake, it's time for you to talk.

What season is this?

That's a tiny cot. Yeah.

It's probably not big enough for all three of us.

Niall: Yeah, you're right. Wake up, man.

Loco, loco, loco.

Daly: And over the years,

he's done whatever it takes to get to the top.

Blake: I don't know how to do this. He's very inexperienced.

What do you do? You hit a button?

Something that I wish I would've learned

before coming to "The Voice"

is how to invest my money wisely.

So I wouldn't have had to take this job.

[ Gasp] [ Crickets chirp]

Come on. That's -- Come on. Huh?

He's been here since, like, he was 40, and now he's 80.

[ Laughter ]

But Blake does what it takes to win "The Voice."

That's probably why he's won so much.

Man: Blake Shelton is a liar. [ Laughter ]

I do lie.

But it's only when something is important to me.

[ Laughter ] CeeLo: I don't know about Blake.

I don't know how sincere he truly is -- I haven't even said anything yet.

What the hell? [ Laughter ]

You two hit the block, really?

I don't -- still don't think I did. Yeah.

Do you want someone that's gonna lie to you?

[ Laughs ] Well...

Today's my birthday.

No, it's not. It's literally not his birthday.

It is not his birthday. You sit on a throne of lies!

He's a saboteur. He's a liar.

I still live in Oklahoma. Do you?

Are you sure about that? [ Laughs ] You're so full of crap.

You're going to have to take your "Chance" here.

[ Laughs ]

What are you doing?!

Ugh. Struggling to trust him.

You really can't trust Blake Shelton.

I just try to keep it interesting.

You know what I'm saying? That's what liars say.

Blake: I hear a lot of the other coaches

talking about me telling lies, and that within itself is a lie.

Come on. [ Goat bleats ]

Come on.

The lying, the Blake dirty tricks.

Get -- Get the mute button ready. Gwen: Oh, my God.

He's, like, the country king.

Is there a country mafia?

**

No.

**

Blake. Country Godmother.

Get out of my chair. I'm sorry.

What is it with you?

You can have that, too. I'm sorry.

Thank you, Country Godmother.

I'm a member of the Grand Ole Opry

and CMA Entertainer of the Year.

Thank you very much. Nobody has more of an advantage.

I've been doing this a long time on this show.

Too long, some might say.

[ Button whooshes ] [ Muted speech ]

How did he do that?

Mine doesn't do that. [ Microphone off ] Why do you get all the cool things?

Can y'all hear her?

What do you think about Blake? [ Dog whimpers ]

[ Goat bleats ] Come on.

Oh, my God. It won't come. [ Laughter ]

Chance: You know, he's been here 23 seasons,

and he just does whatever he wants here.

It's pretty crazy.

Oh, this ain't gonna work.

Goats are known for being stubborn.

Oh, that's not going to work.

Thanks a freaking lot.

[ Goat bleats ]

* Do I have to buy you a diamond ring? *

Who do y'all think that Brittany should pick as her coach?

[ Cheers and applause ]

Oh, that's so stupid. Adam: Oh, my God.

He will use anything to try and win people on his team.

Pick me! Whose dog is this?

Oh, I want the puppy! Hi! Do you like him?

It always works for Blake. It shouldn't be allowed on "The Voice."

You like him? [ Laughs ]

Blake pulls out all the stops to win an artist to his team.

If you don't choose me as your coach,

this puppy is going to go straight back

to the animal shelter.

What is wrong with you? [ Laughter ]

Yes! Yes! Yes!

[ Cheers and applause ]

As soon as that artist walks off the stage...

[ Laughing ]

...all I can think about is pointing my finger

in the people's face that I beat to get that artist.

Ha! [ Laughs ]

Listen. [ Laughing ]

[ Laughs ]

[ Laughs ]

Kelly: Everyone knew they were going to pick you.

You can't brag about that.

Oh, yes, I can.

Oh, man. Mm-hmm.

I know he's not my ally.

He thinks I don't see right through him, but I do.

Oh, this is serious. Is this serious?

You're not my granddaughter anymore.

Grandpa, wait! [ Laughs ]

You like this right here?

You like some of that? Some of that?

Blake thinks he's a good dancer.

Do it, Blake.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Right there?

You like that right there?

Do you like that?

[ Grunts ]

That's very subjective.

How about this right here? Oh, yeah.

[ Laughter ] You like that? Do you like that?

Do you like that? Guys -- Somebody call the paramedics.

[ Laughter ] Blake's having a stroke.

That dance should be against the law.

I choose Blake.

Blake. Blake.

Yes!

Blake: It's important for the other coaches to know

who the champ is.

Niall: Blake's a nice guy.

Great fun. But he's a winner.

Let's do this. Come on.

**

I've learned the Blake Shelton finger point.

It's curl, lift, curl.

**

So now that he's leaving, I'm going to take on the legacy

of the famous Blake Shelton finger point.

Like father, like son, huh? Yeah.

Come on. There's only one Blake Shelton.

[ Cheers and applause ]

If I don't win this last season, it's really embarrassing.

I mean, I only have a few weeks left

and it's over.

* Maybe it was Memphis *

Kelly: He's never going to press the button again.

* Maybe it was Southern summer nights *

* Maybe it was you, maybe it was me *

* But it sure felt right *

Kelly: He's like the king of "The Voice," you know?

He's what people love about this show.

He's one of the main reasons.

I think it's going to hit him later.

I'm gonna find him crying in his room.

**

That's a wrap on Blake Shelton!

[ Snoring ]

Gonna get some work done around here.

Put the -- Oh, those are pretty.

[ Imitating chirping ]

[ Smooches ] Give you kisses.

I know. I know. [ Chuckles ]

Do, do, do, do.

Aha! It's perfect.

And that's a wrap. Thank God.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Daly: Coming up, we'll continue to walk down memory lane...

Blake pulls out the heart strings.

You're family to me now, and I love you.

I really do.

Daly: ...and give an exclusive look

at Blake's last performance.

* Oh, baby, let me love you *

* Oh, baby *

* This is "The Voice" *

Daly: Welcome back.

Man: Okay, Blake interview, take one.

Explain to us -- This is what "The Voice" is about.

[ Beep ] Well, I -- you know,

I wish I could sit here and tell you

that I know exactly, you know, what "The Voice" --

uh, the television show is gonna be about.

It has to start with a great...voice.

Blake. I pick Blake.

Blake. Blake.

Blake, Blake, Blake.

Blake, Blake, Blake, Blake.

Yes!

Kelly: I think it's impossible to think of "The Voice"

and not think of Blake Shelton.

People, like a bug to a light,

like, they're just, like, really attracted to him.

Blake Shelton. "A," I have a massive crush on you.

[ Laughter ]

Thank you. [ Cheers and applause ]

Thank you very much. Thank y'all.

Thank you. I love you.

Usher: Everybody loves Blake.

I wouldn't be surprised if he goes for president.

[ Laughs ]

Blake pulls out the heart strings.

I love you.

This is a match made in heaven.

And the dimples, [Southern accent] the accent.

What the hell are you even talking

to these people for, man? [ Laughter, cheering ]

Blake: What are you talking about?

We're talking about my secret strategies

to be the best, most awesome, coolest coach.

Is it your puffy sleeves? Is that a pirate shirt?

Argh.

He's, like, one of the funniest people I've ever met.

And he's just such a good person.

He really cares about the artist.

You're family to me now, and I love you.

I really do. [ Cheers and applause ]

And I'm so proud of you. I'm so happy for you.

I really am.

Blake is genius at engaging with people.

If you could just put the competitive part

out of your mind, you know, and just go out there

and do what you've always dreamed of doing.

I'm telling you, you're a great singer.

And then -- And I still think so. [ Sobbing ]

Big ol' hullock. What'd you make her cry for?

It's overwhelming, I know it.

Man, you're so good. I'm serious.

You really are.

Oh, my gosh. I never cry. [ Laughs ]

Madison: I never expected to create such a bond with Blake.

You know, it's like a crazy uncle

that -- that's always looking out for me.

You're one of my favorite singers

that I've ever heard on this show.

Uh, Blake...

Blake as a coach and almost like a father figure, you know,

it means the world to me

because I never had that growing up.

You've lit up the road, dream-wise.

You just put a freaking spark in it, man, and, you know...

[ Cheers and applause ] Thank you, buddy.

I feel beyond lucky

to have been able to call "The Voice" my home

for the past 12 years.

I've crossed paths with an amazing group of coaches.

I even met my wife on this show.

Blake, I'm a giant fan. I respect you so much.

Oh, no. Oh, no.

But I have to choose your wife.

What?! Oh, my God! Oh!

[ Cheers and applause ]

I think it's really fun to go head to head with Blake.

I think it's fun to do anything with Blake.

Yes!

[ Cheers and applause ]

She's a good one. Congratulations. Doing good.

Blakey! This will be in the tabloids.

John: Blake and Gwen are married now.

He's been weakened by love.

[ Laughs evilly ] It's our chance to destroy him.

You get to pick between Gwen Stefani,

AKA Gwen Shelton...

[ Laughter ]

...and... Blake Stefani.

...Blake Stefani, our lovely couple, and...

You think I'm lovely?

The two of you together are lovely,

but the high percentage of the loveliness is Gwen.

[ Laughter ]

Hi, Blake Shelton. [ Wolf whistles ]

[ Giggles ] Love you.

[ Whistles ] [ Laughs ]

Lucky me.

[ Cheers and applause ]

I'm damn proud of you, son.

Thank you, Dad.

I can see exactly why the people of America

have fallen in love with this man.

I've known him for 48 hours, and I love him.

You pick me as your coach,

I will quit coaching after this season.

[ Laughter ]

He makes every room that he walks into light up,

and he will be sorely, sorely missed.

But I am glad that I'm here to clap him out of here

one last time.

Now, over the years,

there have been so many memorable coach performances,

and Blake is the one coach who has been a part of all of them.

* Smoking cigarettes and writing something nasty on the wall *

* You nasty boy *

* Hold on * * Hold on *

* I'm comin' * * I'm comin' *

* Hold on * * Hooold on *

* I'm comin' * * I-I-I'm comin' *

* Yeaaah *

* Dream on *

* Dream on *

* Dream on *

* Dream until your dreams come truuue *

Blake: I've gotten to be a part of some

incredible coach performances over all these years.

This season's going to be another incredible moment

to get to perform with Chance and Niall and Kelly.

[ Laughter ]

It's just gonna be a blast.

Have you heard about it? It's gonna be incredible.

[ "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" playing ]

[ Beatboxing ]

**

Kelly: * Mmm-mmm *

Chance: * You're just too good to be true *

* Can't take my eyes off of you *

* You'd be like heaven to touch *

* I want to hold you so much *

* At long last, love has arrived *

* And I thank God I'm alive *

Kelly: * You're just too good to be true *

* Can't take my eyes off of you *

* I need you, baby *

* If it's quite all right, I need you, baby *

* To warm the lonely nights *

Kelly: * I love you, baby *

* Trust in me when I say it's okaaay *

Niall: * Oh, pretty baby *

* Don't let me down, I pray *

* Oh, pretty baby, now that I've found you, stay *

* And let me love you *

* Oh, baby, let me love you *

* Oh, baaaby *

[ Beatboxing ]

* Hey, you're just too good to be true *

* I can't take my eyes off of you *

* You'd be like heaven to touch *

[ Chuckles ] * And I wanna hold you so much *

* At long last, love has arrived *

* And I thank God I'm alive *

* You're just too good to be true *

* Can't take my eyes off of you *

* I need you, baby *

* And if it's quite all right *

* I need you, baby *

* To warm the lonely nights *

Blake: * I love you, baby *

* Trust in me when I say it's okaaay *

* Oh, pretty baby *

Together: * And let me love you, baby *

* Let me love yooou *

[ Cheers and applause ]

Heyyy!

Niall: It's so nice to have you in my house. [ Chuckles ]

Join us next Monday, 8:00/7:00 Central,

as the knockouts continue.

I'm Carson Daly. Good night, everybody.

In one week, it's the knockouts.

A fancy Mega Mentor has returned.

Oh, my gosh.

Oh, God!

Hi, girls! Oh, my God!

[ Chuckles ]

Reba McEntire! [ Imitates air horn ]

**

Hi, Kylee. I'm Reba. Nice to meet you.

Girl, I know who you are. [ Chuckles ]

Blake: Reba is considered Queen of Country Music.

I mean, there's really nothing that Reba hasn't done

and hasn't done well.

When you smile, reminds me of Patrick Swayze.

Oh, my goodness.

So excited for these performers

to get to grow a little bit more with her.

You need to almost be to that brink of "God, help me."

If you do it that way, we'll feel it.

Daly: And our coaches shape their playoff teams.

* Take me to chuuurch *

Chance: They're really representing themselves

to really show who they are

and not have anything to lean back on.

That was crazy! Both of you.

I love this song.

In the knockouts, song choice is absolutely everything.

I'm so angry. You both did such a great job.

[ Laughter ]

Daly: It's the toughest knockouts yet.

[ Cait singing indistinctly ]

I'm going. Yes!

Daly: That is the sound of a steal!

The playoffs are one step away.

America, get ready.
